>> a robber's confession after he says he held up a cell phone store and pointed a gun right at a little girl's head. and wait until you hear how this guy ended up behind bars and why he said, he never meant for any of this to happen. >> and we begin with a fox urgent, a manhunt in alabama after what's described by witnesses as a massacre near the auburn university campus. it began late last night. someone pulled out a gun at a pool party and witnesses say they heard shots one after the other and when it was over, three people lay dead by the pool among them two former university football players, several others shot including a current auburn football player. in a news conference, a short ti the main suspect as 22-year-old desmonty leonard. they have a person of interest in this case and the whole thing started with an argument

over a woman. and police chief urging leonard to turn himself in and he he had a message for the victims' family. >> to the parents and families of the victims, i'm very sorry, please let it be known we're grieving with you. to the parents of auburn university students, and-- >> elizabeth is live at the scene of the shootings. and now the u.s. marshals have been called in on the search? >> oh yeah, the manhunt is heated and underway, for the better part of the whole state of alabama and they say that 22-year-old des monty leonard is considered armed and very dangerous, and the montgomery county area warned the public to stay vigilant. call police if they have knowledge. >> and searching for two persons of interest although

the police chief during the press conference, he he's not releasing names. those people know exactly who they are, harris. >> harris: what are we learning so far about the victim? >> six people were shot. three survivors and one man fighting for his life. suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head and one survivor has been treated and released. the third is eric max, a current football player here at university of auburn and we also know two people did die last night, they were former football players, their names, edward christian and la darius phillips, member of the former tigers family and here is the police chief's emotional response. >> the only condition that the auburn football team has to this is they are victims of a brutal shooting. and sometimes young men get a bad rap, i feel like, but they're the victims today. >> and harris, we know that there is a motive in this case, but police chief said

during a press conference that that will be released when this is going to be in the courtroom, harris. >> harris: elizabeth, prann thank you very much. right now in minnesota, the u.s. coast guard called in to help look for a missing plane and reportedly concentrating on lake superior in the we're told a twin engine piper with one person on board took off from st. paul for duluth on friday. it was due back in st. paul that same day, but never showed up. and eight air patrol planes and several ground teams now joining the search. we don't know the pilot's name yet and authorities only releasing a few details about the plane, a white paper pa-31 navajo with red and blue striping. and the civil air patrol asking if anyone sees anything that could help locate the missing plane, please call 911 in your area. a wildfire alert tonight. strong winds fueling fires in new mexico and colorado, one

fast moving wall of flames forcing more than 1600 evacuation orders near fort collins and those are the numbers, the evacuations have gone up by the hour all day long on this sunday. and we're hearing the red cross just opened up shelters, 500 people already registered, the at those shelters and this just started burning yesterday morning and since then, damage to reports, more than 14,000 acres burned, several structurals, the governor says the main focus of course is saving lives. >> our primary goal is to make sure we get all the people out of the way of the fire. it is a terrible thing to have people waiting in their homes, a thousand times where someone is missing and making sure going house to house to make sure to get people out of harm's way as much as humanly possible. >> harris: as i've mentioned it's not just one state. it's a vicious fire season. and officials say lightning

truck struck the for rest and jumped containment lines. firefighters in both states, obviously, hoping for a break. cooler temperatures in the forecast would help. meteorologist maria mow lina is in the weather. >> and places across the southwest area we've been seeing, basically, severe to extreme drought across parts of arizona and the same for the state of new mexico and colorado and utah and it means it's dry out here. you've got a lot of dry brush in place, when the wildfire started it helps to fuel them and coupled with warm temperatures in place and strong winds in excess of 40 miles per hour that are occurring right now across parts of the southwest and you've got the wildfires that can spread rapidly, unfortunately. right now we have a drought condition across the southwest and not much rain in the forecast for the next several days and elevated fire danger and red flag warnings and critical fire and weather

conditions are occurring across portions of northern californ california, and colorado and arizona not looking at red flag warnings, but it's still dry and not expecting rainfall today or in the forecast for tomorrow. high temperatures, a hundred degrees expected this afternoon and 90 in albuquerque and 91, very warm in vegas, and the entire region very warm and take a look at the area off to the north. in colorado, parts of utah and nevada already certain to see the cooler air coming in and thanks to one that's eastward so there is he' a little bit of good news and the cold front is producing strong winds with wind gusts in excess of 40 miles per hour across the region, and still, the winds are expected though to continue to die down as we head into tomorrowen red flag warnings expiring near on today, harris, a light at the end of the turning as these cooler temperatures and calmer winds continue to progress

southward. >> harris: it's a two pronged punch. it's not just the cooler temperatures, we need the winds to go away. and we'll check back with you as the news warrants. thank you. afghanistan, a major announcement that could have a lasting impact on our role in that country. tonight, afghan president hamid karzai demanding the u.s. stop all air strikes in residential areas. this comes after 18 people were killed last week, including women and children. when n.a.t.o. planes targeted a home harboring a suspected terrorist. turns out that home was also hosting a wedding at the time. general john allen, the top u.s. commander in afghanistan apologized for the strike we saw that yesterday and the u.s. says it will comply with the karzai's demand and the change in tactic that cake hunting for al-qaeda much more difficult. david piper has the the latest from kabul. >> reporter: president hamid karzai warned that the security pact between the u.s. and afghanistan is at risk following this air strike. and he also adds that if

there's any more on afghan homes it will be seen as an act of investigation. an investigation announced that the coalition forces were responsible for the unintended deaths of civilians. the top u.s. commander in afghanistan, general john allen has apologized for the civilian deaths on friday. during a visit to the area, general allen says he wants the right things for the family and forces inadvertently killed. n.a.t.o. has refused to comment on the claim, so far of both president karzai's office, all air strikes banned in rest deposition area and added proceeds were under review and during the rain it's established offices in the u.s. and afghanistan, came under fire while hunting a local taliban leader housed in the house nearby. and they called in an air strike only later they found out that it contained women, children and old men, who had gathered there for a wedding party.

a spokesman for president karzai says that afghan investigators told him that u.s. troops called in the air strikes without consulting afghan units surrounded the house and no chance to flush out the militants. n.a.t.o. hasn't yet commented on the claim. taliban ordered the drones in districts to close for three days for to mourn the dead. and it's become a major issue for the alliance and the karzai government. and the alliance has said, they are key to capturing and killing taliban leaders. and the karzai spokesman says the latest air strike was the fifth incident and caused civilian casualties since they signed the security pact and they hoped they resolved the differences allowing the government to control special operations with the afghan troops taking the lead, but it's gone terribly wrong this time. back to you, harris.

obviously leaks, but they weren't from the white house. >> molly henneberg was live with the news in washington and republicans and other critics are not convinced that the obama administration was planning to investigate the leaks and fielding any answers. >> that's right, harris, both sides say that the two u.s. attorneys who head up the investigations are good men and good lawyers, g.o.p. lawmakers are concerned because they will be reporting to attorney general issuing holder who reports to the president. the republican chairman of the house intelligence committee says it will be a challenge for the two u.s. attorneys if in fact it leads to high ranking people in the obama administration. >> some of the leaks, and public leaks, self-described aides or people in the situation, pretty small, but an important group of people. my question for the attorney general, good start maybe, but we need to find out if they'll have that independence. >> he wants to see what kind of power and autonomy the u.s. attorneys will have.

forced that recall election. back in 2005 on his first day in office, governor daniels signs an order ending collective bargaining rights with public employee unions. today on fox news sunday, the governor says it's helped his state. >> in our state, we had a 16 year run with so-called collective bargaining. and we did end it, and i want to say that although it led to the saving of large amounts of tax dollars and it wasn't principally about that. we had 160 pages of shackles, really, on government's ability to deliver services better and seven years later we're delivering services across the board in a much more effective way. >> harris: the deputy chief of staff for the afl-cio which represents some 12 million workers says the real issue is we need to pay americans enough to earn a decent living. >> we really need to look at the big picture. which is in this country, you know, should workers, whether they're in the public or the private sector, have a decent

karzai demanding that n.a.t.o. and u.s. stopping strikes in the rest deposition areas, a deadly strike that killed 18 people and many women and children attending a wedding. the top commander in the u.s., allen, apologizing for the strike. firefighters trying to get a dangerous wildfire under control in denver. burning near fort collins and already destroyed more than 14,000 acres. and officials are now ordering 1500 people to evaluate as a precaution and the red cross opening up shelters with 500 of the people registered for the night. people in spain reacting to the announcement, their banks are going to have to be bailed out. they are protesting, angry over the euro zone's plan to offer up the equivalent of 125 billion u.s. dollars to rescue spain's banks and say that citizens dealing with

talk shows today and a political ad, this is the president and his campaign have been trying to walk back the comments. peter doocy had the latest tonight from washington. harris, four hours after president obama said the private sector is doing fine on friday, he clarifies that the economy is not fine. too many people are out of work in and the housing market is weak. it wasn't enough to stop this new ad from the romney campaign. >> have to work part-time in order to make ends meet. >> and the private sector is doing fine. the private sector is doing fine. the private sector is doing fine. >> on friday, mitt romney reacted to the president's comment and to the recall election, that sent the message in wisconsin that it's time to cut back on government. but, obama campaign senior strategist david axlerod says that mitt romney is living in another planet if he thinks that will strengthen the economy. >> we don't need more teachers or firefighters or police, the

president south of touch, out of touch? we've lost 250,000 teachers in the last couple of years and every community in the country is feeling it, while wisconsin's governor thinks romney is right, one former government does not. >> governor romney has a shot if the r next to his name doesn't stand for republican, reform or-- >> and e-mail, axlerod's appearance this morning, the romney spokesman wrote that axlerod struggled and added when your own chief strategist can't defend your comment, your sense of the economy might be wrong. >> harris: peter, thank you. former florida governor jeb bush says he has no plans to join governor romney's ticket. now his son is saying something different. in an interview in washington post, 36-year-old george prescott bush says his dad jeb is sincere he's not
