the president said the government will now stop deporting some illegal immigrants. these are the requirements. they include people under 30 who arrived in the united states before the age of 16, also necessary, a high school diploma or u.s. military service. a bit of the president's announcement and the immediate reaction from republican candidate for president, governor mitt romney. >> over the next few months, eligible individuals who do not present a risk to national security or public safety will be able to request temporary relief from deportation proceedings and apply for work authorizations. >> it's an executive order which is, of course, just a short-term matter. it can be reversed by subsequent presidents. i'd like to see legislation that deals with this issue. >> and now, the non-politicians reacting. >> when i was 7 years old, my parents sent for me to come over here to the united states. i had no idea how my life would changed.

>> the obama administration has overstepped its boundaries once again. >> molly henneberg live with the news in washington. what is the reaction from the white house tonight to accusations that it has overstepped it's boundaries? >> reporter: hi, harris. the president said it was within his powers to make the change to the policy separate from congress. president obama contends this is legal, it's not amnesty, it's not a path to citizenship and in part it's just an effort to get the ball rolling on immigration as his supporters said today. >> it is a temporary step, but that's also because congress isn't doing anything right now. the immigration system right now is deeply flawed, it has to be fixed, but i don't think republicans have shown any willingness to do anything about it. >> the president said he found a common sense answer to the problem facing the immigration situation. harris? >> republicans say compassion for the young people is definitely important but they argue so is the rule of law.

>> reporter: they may not agree with the plan of helping children of illegals find a legal way to stay here, but republicans don't like the president's decision to go around congress to change something as important as immigration and border security. here's more. >> this kind of action may make it difficult, sort of relieve steam, pressure to try to pass comprehensive immigration reform by dealing with the children through this temporary fix. i believe strongly it's important for this country to know who's in this country in a post 9/11 war and why they're here. i believe immigration reform through legislation is the right approach. >> reporter: gonzalez also said this policy may open the door for other illegal immigrants, adults, to try to get their kids into the u.s. harris. >> molly henneberg with the latest on this. thank you very much. a fox urgent now. information coming in about a deadly stage collapse just ahead of a concert. the band radiohead was set to perform in toronto, canada. at this hour canadian news

agencies reporting one person has died, three others hurt as this happened. a woman on twitter sent us this picture. you can see all the twisted metal from the crumpled stage. this is at downs view park in toronto. here's what it looked like just moments before the collapse. our viewer, alex, who snapped these photos, telling us it was quite frightening with ambulances rushing all around all over the place as you might imagine. the radiohead concert was supposed to start earlier this evening. in fact, when it happened, officials were just about to open the gates to the public. now we're told the concert has been cancelled, and no word of any yet of the identities of the victims, whether they were fans or actually working on that stage. we're following the story for you. we'll bring you updates as they come in. greece causing a fresh round of heartburn for financial markets around the world including our own and now we may be on the brink of seeing something more serious out of that european nation. they're hoating elections, whether to stay in the euro

currency group or face painful cuts as part of the deal to secure billions in bailout money. that choice or to leave the euro zone all together and walk away from the bailout deal as well. some economists fearing a greek exit from the euro could spell trouble for other countries and could damage to our stocks here at home. the greeks appear to be divided on the vote. it's expected to be very close, so it is a busy weekend as you might imagine for investors bracing for potential monday fallout. we'll have a full report from greece coming up later inside the fox report. in egypt now, a historic election going on. after a revolution, as you know, kicked out their dictator president last year, there was hope of an elected government. now the people reportedly frustrated as they head to the polls, very frustrated over their choices. one candidate, a former air force commander and prime minister from the last regime that they didn't want, the other candidate from the muslim

brotherhood. we're live in cairo with the latest on this. leland? >> reporter: hi, harris. good evening from cairo. as the arab exchange translates for this situation, i have two choices and both of them are bitter which is how many egyptians feel about the decision they have to make when they head to the ballot box. there was voting today and will be voting tomorrow. we're seeing a really upset feeling over who they have to choose as their president. it means there's low turnout. >> massive army trucks parked on residential streets are polling places in egypt. when i was here a couple of weeks ago for the first time rounds of elections, the lines were huge. today there's very few people. why? >> i don't know. i'm surprised like you. >> reporter: inside voters only had two choices. many worry a president morsey

would turn egypt into an islamic state. >> we would not be free. i don't think so. >> reporter: this is a muslim brotherhood stronghold, one of cairo's poor neighborhoods. most of the women are either veiled, and it shows how powerful the brotherhood's political machine is, especially among egypt's lower classes. he's giving us the hope for the future. it's a new system, this woman said. we need justice. conventional wisdom here in egypt said low turnout actually helps the muslim brotherhood as voting continues tomorrow. harris, we expect results sometime middle of next week, and there is an x factor here. the prime minister under hosni mubarak is a very controversial figure and many of the young revolutionaries who fought for this revolution say if he wins, once again, they'll return to the square where violence is certainly a possibility. harris, back to you. >> that's really what i wanted

to ask you about. it's hard not to look at the apparent lack of change since all the violent protests in that square last year and not wonder if we could see something similar. >> reporter: well, that's certainly what a number of the people who fought and also had friends die for this revolution have told me. they say the liberal democratic revolution, and for that matter, a liberal democratic candidate in the election just didn't happen. there were a couple of liberal democratic candidates when we talked about three weeks ago during the elections here, but none of them got enough votes in order to make the runoff. a lot of the people who were part of those young revolutionary groups say they simply screwed this one up by splitting their vote, and they were too worried about finding exactly the right candidate rather than someone whose views they agree with. still, if you put the combined total of votes together from the primary, you only get about 60%. that leaves 40% of egyptians who

health problems of his own. the saudi royal family could now turn to his grandchildren for the next heir. now to the raging wildfires out west in this country. more than 1,000 firefighters working hard, 24 hours a day in colorado, near for the collins outside denver. the number of homes scorched rising. fox news confirming one worm ha- one woman has died. evacuation phone calls have gone out to 300 homes since the fire sparked on june 9th. 112 homes were damaged or destroyed, the wildfire eating up 81 square miles in that state. and the beast in new mexico. the white water balding fire, one of several fires burning there, has charred more than 453 square miles of forest. the forecast, of course, has been the enemy there. will that change? meteorologist maria molina is live in the weather center. >> the weather is expected to

worsen as far as fire draining weather. we're looking for dry conditions to continue and very windy and warm temperatures will remain concentrated across the south west over the next 48 hours. we know this problem started weather wise weeks and months ago. we've had a lack of moisture. currently most of this region is experiencing some stor form of drought, many of them extreme to severe. you can see them across new mexico and arizona and western portions of the state of colorado. this is basically the conditions that have set the stage already for these wiemed fire wildfires. we have fuel in case for the dry conditions. you have the current weather conditions meaning we have warm temperatures, windy conditions, and low humidity in case. that combination is basically what's brought some concerns to this region. we do expect the windy conditions to increase as we

head into tomorrow. the dark area of blue is where you see wind gusts of 15 miles per hour. the reason why it's so windy out here is we're going to see a trough, so basically an area of low pressure. that's the system that's going to be basically increasing the winds out of here. we do have a bit of moisture, harris, some thundershowers and thunderstorms. that's actually bad news because we won't get enough water from the storms to put out the fires. we could be seeing some lightning actually from these storms that could spark up new wildfires. >> all right. maria molina, thanks for following this for us. a crowd careens into a crowd of people -- a car careens into the crowd of people. we're learning about the driver and you'll see how this ended. an all american sumo wrestler has to buy three airline tickets to sit

>> in ohio a woman drives her car into dozens of people. it happened in lima. police saying she drove her oldsmobile into the crowd. there were more than a thousand people gathered for that weekly community event featuring live music last night. when her car stopped, people nearby had to lift it up to free the victims who were trapped beneath it. nobody killed, but about 30 people injured, and we've learned some of them pretty seriously. police saying the driver was not hurt and has been released pending further investigation. they say she's been cooperative as they try to figure out what

happened. a stunt plane crashes at an air show in idaho and the whole thing is caught on tape. >> o., my goodness. that sound is haunting of that twirling an hitting the ground. amazingly, the pilot walked away from what you see here with only a broken ankle. he was doing a series of rolls, obviously we see that, when the plane suddenly lost power. he directed it away from the crowd and into a golf course. god bless him, heroic, no doubt. you may remember last year we covered this u.s. air crash. a plane went down an air race in reno, nevada last year. 11 people died and dozens were

hurt. that also caught on tape. well, our nation's highest law enforcer caught in a battle on capitol hill. eric holder is facing a contempt of congress vote next week, but now the vote could be postponed. 1 powerful congressman said he's going to delay the vote if the attorney general and justice department turn over classified documents related to the fast and furious gunrunning scandal and he has to do it which wednesday. that may not be enough to stopt vote all together. >> reporter: congressman darrell isa has been pushing for a vote to hold attorney general eric holder in contempt of congress, but he said he will postpone the vote until wednesday if holder comes forward with documents saying how and when the justice department were letting their guns across the southern border. two of the guns were used in the murder of border agent brian

terry. he wrote while i do have substantial concerns that these documents may not be sufficient to complete the investigation, delivery of the document before wednesday would be sufficient to justify the postponement of the proceeding to allow for the review of materials. issa wants to meet with holder on tuesday, and the justice department says they're in, and quote, we are pleased that chairman issa has agreed to our request to meet next wednesday and look forward to a productive session. it's in the best interest of all parties to bring the matter to a final resolution by avoiding a confrontation that involves contempt. on february 12th, 2011, a letter was sent saying there were no reckless tactics used in fast and furious, but ten months later they withdrew the letter so issa wants documents from the time in between. at this point it's unclear what the attorney general will bring. harris? >> peter, thank you.

there. we're hearing three others have been hurt during the collapse. no word on what caused it. the fallout growing from president obama's unilateral decision to stop deporting hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants, and he's doing it without approval from congress. at least one law maker calling the president's move illegal. and attorney general eric holder facing a deadline to hand over documents from that federal drug running scandal known as fast and furious. holder said he will deliver the documents to lawmakers by monday, but he says he has no plans to resign. well, back to another one of our top stories now. more crews arriving in colorado today to help fight a raging wildfire there. the hyde park fire already scorching more than 80 square miles, damaging or destroying one 81 homes now. that is a number that has been revised just this hour. more than 1500 people now battling the flames sparked by lightning back in the beginning

of june. it's believed to have killed a 62-year-old woman. her body was found in her cabin this weekend. the fire is now 20% contained, but the incident commander there says full containment could be two to four weeks away. right now the weather, hot and dry. that continues to be a problem there. but there's a threat of thunderstorms that could bring more lightning to the area. we heard that from our meteorologist and now more from the area. any thaanyanita vogel in our wet bureau. >> reporter: all eyes are on the forecast because weather plays such a large role in the fires. as you mentioned, this one was sparked by a lightning strike. in fact, we have a new picture to show you now. we have a picture of the tree that was originally struck by lightning in this fire there in colorado. officials are worried about thunderstorms and the potential for more lightning the rest of today. after that, the forecast calls for very dry and windy conditions, and that could be a problem as well. as you mentioned, more than 100 homes have already been lost and no one wants to lose any more.

>> we're going to be looking for a longer term place to stay. right now we're sort of temporary, and we don't want to impose too much on people. >> it's really unbelievable because all of these things you think will happen to somebody else, and you want to be there to help them, but then after that, you can't imagine that it could possibly happen to you. >> yeah. officials are hoping for full containment over the next several weeks. as you mentioned. they say the flames might not be out completely until sometime this fall, if you can imagine that. harris? >> we understand the agriculture sect, tom vilsack, was on the ground there today. >> reporter: he was. he talked about the impact, the volatility that the western part of the united states has already experienced due to the fire season, but he also talked about some e encouraging news looking ahead. he said compared to this time last year, the number of fires

in the u.s. has actually gone down. take a listen. >> just to give you a sense of this, we are currently looking at close to 24,000 forest fires happening right now across the country. a year ago that number was around 33,000. so it takes a partnership, and what i saw today is an extraordinary partnership starting with volunteer fire departments. > >> reporter: now, of course, it's early in the season and anything could happen. we know that the federal government has recently announced it will be adding air tankers to the aging fleet and so harris, that, of course, can only be helpful. back to you. >> absolutely. we wish them the best. anita, thank you very much. before i move on, i misspoke during the headlines on the fast and furious. i want to make a connection or a correction, rather. it's a gun running operation they're looking into, not a drug running operation. i apologize for the mistake.

the u.s. department is confirming united nations observers are suspending their mission in syria, triggered by the escalating blood shed in the country in the last ten days. the head of the mission said violence is posing a growing risk to some 300 observers there, so they will not be patrolling syrian towns until further notice. at the same time, the u.s. state department is repeating pleas for a cease-fire between the government forces and rebels. washington also talking with allies about implementing a syrian led transition to avoid a sectarian war. this weekend's vote in greece expected to affect our stocks here in the united states on monday. the global economy waiting to see if greece chooses to leave the euro currency and walk away from bailout deal. remember, some $125 billion offered to this country. there are fears a greek exit from the euro would act as a virus that could impact other weak european nations already

trying to cope with massive debt. ashley webster from the fox businesfoxbusiness network has t tonight from athens. >> reporter: the voting booth opened at 7 a.m. tomorrow here and across the country in the second time in six weeks that voters go back tboots to try and elect a government. greece has been in the euro zone for almost ten years now but for almost half that time has faced a crippleling recession and it's getting worse. the vast majority of greeks want to stay in the euro. they say this country's future is in the euro zone, but the clock is ticking. tomorrow's contest is seen as a neck and neck one between the conservative new democracy party and the left wing sirisa party. if they win, they have promised to literally throw out the agreement that was made that got greece a bailout in the first point. they say that the conditions are just too harsh. the question is, will eu leaders be prepared to do that? germany says it's blackmail, and

in the end, greece could be given the boot out of the euro. central banks say they're standing by ready to stableize financial markets based on tomorrow night's results, but for now, greece is in the euro. tomorrow night, it could be a different story. harris, back to you. >> ashley, thank you. in oregon health officials confirming tonight a man who lived there has the playing. they say the man who is in his 50s was bitten by a stray cat while trying to take a dead row death penalty out of the cat's mouth -- rodent out of the cat's mouth. it wiped out at least a third of europe in the 14th century. that one, the bubonic blague, affects lim lymph notre dame. this is the '50 case o fifth cae plague since 1999. villagers climb two cell phone towers to send a clear
