another decision. >> greta: because american people are going to vote? >> look what roberts wrote. it's not the supreme court decision to decide what is good policy. they decide whether it's constitutional. think the american people get to decide what is good policy. in november they will be able to vote on what kind they wanted. >> greta: the tax, how much could be used against the democrats? >> i believe personally you can use the tax but what is most importantly the election is going to be about economy and leadership and lack of. we have gone through eleven recessions since world war ii, we have come out stronger and this isn't the worst one but the policies of this white house that have lingered this recession even longer. we need a new direction. that is really what this election will be about. >> greta: how about governor romney's leadership. what make you think governor romney will do it?

10:08 pm
>> good evening. this is going to be devastating for patients, devastating for taxpayers, it's going to be the biggest job killer ever. we're not going implement obamacare in florida and not expand medicaid. we're not going to do the exchange because what this does is raise the cost of healthcare for all floridians, it doesn't work. >> greta: let me separate out one part. take it one by one. the expansion of the medicaid. you say you are going to reject money from the federal government? >> medicaid has been growing three and a half times our general revenue. it's growing way faster -- our economy has come back. we had the biggest drop of unemployment of any state other than one. our economy is coming back well but medicaid is still growing faster. this would be devastating. it would increase the cost to
10:09 pm
florida taxpayers $1.9 billion per year. we can't pay for that. there is no way floridians can pay for that. >> greta: medicaid is one category you say that is growing and very costly to florida but medicaid expansion, what i understand that to be expanding the pool of people who are eligible for medicaid. as i further understand that expanded pool which is going to be paid for, that the federal government is going to pay for that hundred percent of it for a period of time and later on the future the state, in your case, florida would have to pick up 10%. is that how you understand it? >> but florida taxpayers pay for the federal government. we pay for our portion in federal taxes. >> greta: some states nursing home for senior citizens which is not an insignificant matter in your state.
10:10 pm
so other states help florida? >> no, we are donor state. we pay more than our fair share of taxes. the $1.9 billion is the expansion because of obamacare. we have an issue that our medicaid program -- look we care about having a healthcare safety net for the vulnerable floridians but this is an expansion that doesn't make any sense. look, every government program in the world, they say i'm going to cover everything. they run out of money. they are not honest. they stop paying providers well. then there is no one to take care of you. that is what this will do. florida businesses, there is no way. i was in a business the other day they walked up to me, governor is this going to become the law, if it does we are out of business. we have 20 employees. we won't be able to buy any healthcare for anybody. this doesn't do drive the market. this just a big government insurance program that does nothing to deal with the cost of
10:11 pm
healthcare. the free market will fix healthcare. >> greta: two options. one is you can hope that the president obama is not re-elected and governor romney. that is number one. well within that choice also is that the senate goes democratic. the other choice is simply to say no to the medicaid expansion and no to creating i guess these exchanges. what happens then in your state? >> the if irgs thing we're going to do is we wore going to work tirelessly to get it repealed. we're going elect individuals and get rid of it it's devastating to taxpayers and jobs. we need jobs in our state. if that doesn't happen, we're still not going to implement he is exchanges. exchanges are not going to reduce the cost of healthcare. they are going to increase the cost of healthcare. expanding medicaid is not going to help system of florida.
10:12 pm
it's not going to make medicaid better. we are going to run out of money. the things we care about we won't be able to afford. it will $1.9 billion tax increase. >> if you don't do the state exchanges, does the law does not provide make an exchange for you and forces you into federal exchange, is that wrong? >> i believe it's going to be repealed it will be a rallying cry on top of jobs. if it becomes law we are not going to i remember implement those exchanges because they will come to the same conclusion that i have come to. this will not reduce healthcare for americans. >> greta: since the decision came out yesterday have you spoken to any other republican governors and form a group how to deal with this? >> absolutely. everyone i've spoken to is doing the same thing. we're saying, look, we're not
10:13 pm
going to expand medicaid. we're not going implement the exchanges. we're going to do everything we can to make sure we elect individuals that are going to repeal this. we care about the citizens of our state. we know this will be bad for their healthcare. we want jobs in our state. this is going to put american businesses at an unbelievable disadvantage as compared to businesses around the world. >> greta: who is drawing the line in the sand with you? i think it's plain you are making your position well known and drawing the line in the sand. what other governors have you spoken to? >> if you look at what other governors are saying, scott walker, governor perry said, bobby jindal said, we all know this will be bad for the citizens of our state. we have got to work trlessly to repeal this because citizens in every one of our states needs jobs. this will be a job killer. we need to make sure we take

care of vulnerable and afford it. those that have healthcare provided by state and federal government. we can't do that if this becomes the law. >> greta: is it cheaper for the system of florida if you don't have it, that instead you have a situation where people don't have health insurance they go to an emergency room and get medical care there, does that turn out to be cheaper for the system or not? >> i ran a program in 2009, what we should do. if we wanted to reduce the cost of healthcare we need consumers to be able to choose the health care policy they wanted. you need to know what things cost. you need more competition you should have a tax break just like a business so when you change jobs you don't lose the healthcare. and reward people for eating right, exercising don't smoke. that will reduce the cost of healthcare so more people can afford healthcare. the more government involvement, you are saying somebody is going
10:15 pm
to buy insurance doesn't mean every one of us can afford it. what has they done cheaper in the live sector. >> greta: and i hear the doctor shortage. you can't get a doctor for health insurance so i'm not sure what we are doing about that problem. >> look around the world, u.k. system and canadian system and they don't have enough money and providers, there are not enough providers and there are not enough doctors to take care of people. that is exactly what is going to happen. >> greta: thank you for joining us, sir. >> supreme court ruling is lighting a new fire under a the tea party. just in time for the november election so what tea party planning now. griff jenkins hit the ground to find out.
