please, always remember that the spin stops right here because we are definitely lookingute -- looking out for you. >> sean: 119 days are all that remain before you, the voter, have the opportunity to make barack obama a one-term president. now, if that election were held today, the mainstream media would have you believe this guild down to the wire because according to one brand-new poll, they say it's tied up. according to the latest poll, it is a dead heat between mitt romney and the president, receiving 47% of the vote. but i closer look at the results shows that the poll included 33% of those who identified themselves as democrats and only 24% of republicans.
9:01 pm
now, that is a 9-point margin and despite that clear advantage, a majority of americans say they disapprove of the way that president barack obama is handling three critical issues. number 1, the economy, where 54% oppose the president and only 44% support his radical tax-and-spend agenda. number 2, health care, the key domestic issue, 52% disapprove of his handling of the issue. remember, that's with a 9-point democratic advantage. on immigration reform, a mere 38% near his corner and a majority, 52% oppose the administration's rufusal to secure our borders and more telling, 63% of those polled believe that america is headed in the wrong direction and only 33% say that things are on the right track. tonight, hear from rick dana peo and greg gutfeld. but first, governor sarah palin. >> it's an honor.
9:02 pm
>> sean: first of all, 9 points advantage. they out-poll democrats to republicans. the headline is dead even, 47-47. seems to me that, my conclusion of this is that, well, mitt romney's looking pretty good in that poll. >> well, he is. the more time that mitt romney has to get his message out, the better it is for him. when voters start understanding that middle-class families have seen the decimation of their net worth to the tune of 40% under barack obama and monumental fiscal failures are really the hallmark of this administration, the more time that mitt romney has to get those facts out there, the more you will see the polls change. >> sean: but that 9-point split, there was a 7-point split in 2008. that sample used by the washington post assumes a democratic advantage over republicans in 2012 will be 20% better than it was in 2008.
9:03 pm
do you think this is purposefully manipulative of the media to put out something like this? >> no question. absolutely. that's par for the course, though, with the -- manipulation of the media's message. you know, they -- like they did 4 years ago, sean, they chose their one and they did all they could to usher him into the white house. we are going to see the same tactic this is go around. i think voters, though, are wiser, perhaps, this go-around nunderstanding that the media does manipulate information. the filter that the media is is something that a politician, a candidate has to be extremely astute in -- kind decimating that filter and getting through it so that -- the public has the correct information. >> sean: all right. the way i see tgovernor, tell me if you agree or disagree -- it seems that the president and his
9:04 pm
campaign have decided on three areas of attack. they are going to smear the words, quote, kill romney, is their strategy. smear romney. they are going to use class warfare. and the president also has now decided he wants this to be about taxes and it's joined with the class warfare issue. when you -- do you think the president has a chance, every democratic president that has won in the modern era -- bill clinton for example and president obama hid his radicalism in 2008. they didn't run hard left. do you think the president can win using class warfare? >> well, the more people that he has feeding out of his hands, the better it is for him, of course. and when you consider that 49-50% of americans are not paying taxes and they are reliant on the government for their income and for benefits, that bodes well for the extreme left, who wants to grow government and take awipeople's
9:05 pm
awipeople's -- away people's freedoms and entrepreneurial spirit. that's what this is all about. the more people who are reliant on barack obama and the democrats, the better it is for them. but no -- president clinton -- shoot, barack obama had even said just a couple of years ago, a few years ago, that increasing taxes at a time of economic woe is the worst thing that you can do. yet, he has flip-flopped on that along with many other issues and decides he will increase taxes, allowing the bush tax extensions to expire. and that's going to really negatively affect our small businesses, which of course, is the economic backbone of this country. >> sean: you know, it's interesting, cartener '76, clinton in 1992, they ran as southern governors, blue-dog democrats, if you will. obama did a good job with the help of the media of hiding his radicalism. let me go to the attack smear
9:06 pm
issues. this is the very latest and it's amusing. you can see the democratic operatives regurgitate the same lines. but i want to ask you how you would respond if you were advising the romney campaign. let's roll the tape. >> i would like to see mitt romney release more than one year of tax records because there have been disturbing reports that he has a bermuda corporation that no one knows anything about, investments in the caymans. he has a swiss bank account. >> you get a swiss bank account to conceal what you are doing or you believe the swiss franc is stronger than the american disl. i have never known of a swiss bank account to create an american bridge or job or build a levy to protect new orleans. >> he off-shores most of his own personal investment, presumably
9:07 pm
to shield them from taxes. >> we learn from the associated press that governor romney has ray bermuda business. he transferred it to his wife's ownership, the day before he game the governor of mass so he wouldn't have to put it on an ethics form. this is the most secretive candidate since richard nixon. >> sean: this is the latest distraction, war on women, the dog. bain capital. do you think the romney campaign should respond to all of this? >> you know, i think that governor romney should vigorously defend his record and the fiscal decisions he has made as a private citizen. but we need to remember and romney needs to remind the public and the media that his private bank accounts are not the problem -- that is not what is the economic demise of this country. it is the -- what barack obama
9:08 pm
believes and theb makes manifest in our country with the monumental failures that replicate the socialist nations that he seems to want to emulate. >> sean: it is funny -- remember when ronald reagan said, well, there you go again. it seems that, they're so desperate, they will say anything at this point because they can't run on their record. let me give you an example. by the time october comes around, you know, people will be rolling their eyes because it's so transparent what they are trying to do when the president's willing to go this far and make things och -- things up about his opponent. >> this republican budget proposal is something different altogether. it is a trojan horse. it is thinly vailed social darwinism. my plan says we are going to put teachers back in the classroom, construction workers back to work, rebuilding america. and then you -- their plan,

which is let's have dirtier air, dirtier water. who are these 50 million americans? many are somebody's grandparents. some are middle-class families who have children with autism or down's syndrome. these are the americans we would be telling to fend for themselves. >> sean: i don't know whether to laugh or cry. does doesn't that wreak of desperation, governor, to you? >> well, it does. consider the source, though, sean. read bam bottom's auto biographies that he wrote before he accomplished anything. he made up things in his books and the media, by the way, didn't vet him. composite girlfriends and composite experiences that shaped him. so, you know, it should be no surprise, no wonder that he makes things up today and the lap dogs in the media go with him. but the accusation of mitt romney not being transparent with his private funds and where

>> tonight on our great, great american panel, you sit in beckel's seat and you are causing trouble before we even start. you are sitting in his chair. i pointed out. former governor of the great state of maryland, author of the book, turn this car around, robert ehrlich is there. a fox news political analyst is here, kirsten powers. she is the author of black-lash. and bor is here. let's listen to your favorite
9:47 pm
radio host besides me, mark levine -- >> i listen to him every day. >> sean: tax hikes are triggering a mass exodus from your state of maryland. >> let me ask you something, jerk! how many jobs have you created in maryland? how many people have you chased out of marry lapped? you big dummy. that guy in-state tuition for illegals he's pushing. this guy's right down the line, leftist. you people in maryland, you happy with this? with this jerk! mitt romney bets against america. mitt romney created more jobs and his folks did at bain capital than this guy could ever dream of. >> sean: why are they leaving? >> taxes. >> sean: and everything mark was saying. >> that's how they vote. i don't want the count tree follow suit. that's the bottom line. >> okay. i assume most of these people supported the war in iraq and
9:48 pm
the afghanistan war, which cost us about $1 trillion. but they don't want to pay taxes to pay the massive debt that we have? i mean, at some point, people have to step up to the plate and pay down the debt -- >> we are not talking about wealthy people. this is the middle class, southern pennsylvania -- driving -- that's florida. >> well -- west virginia, virginia, delaware, southern pennsylvania, it is taxes. maryland tax policy -- [overlapping dialogue] >> new jersey. new york lost -- >> california, millions. same thing. this is not unique to maryland. this is a certain scream factor here. you can only go after wealth so often and then people go. >> what's the tax rate? >> wait a minute-- if i left new york -- >> on somebody who makes $40,000 a year-- if i move to florida, where the weather's nicer, i pay 15% less the first day i arrive. >> if something making $40,000 a
9:49 pm
year is paying 50%, that's crazy. they should be raising taxes on the highest paid, millionaires. >> millionaires are getting squeezed. >> sean: the job creators. >> that's correct. >> sean: but that's not -- >> that's why they are fleeing the states that have the high taxes. if you look at texas, for example, they don't have a state tax. they are great for businesses and jobs. so millionaires are squeezed and when they are leaving the states, you are left with people who are paying lower taxes, because they are making less money -- >> chopping the rich off -- >> it's all great. >> what planet are we on here? >> millionaires are being squeezed. that's ridiculous! [overlapping dialogue] >> when the wealth leaves them, you can't tax them. that's the problem. >> look sf. if they would be realistic, we have an out-of-control debt, in the state, nationally, and paying high taxes for a couple of years
9:50 pm
to help this -- like they are going to run to another country-- obama gave us $5 trillion in new debt. he got everything he wanted -- >> bush administration gave us plenty-- bush gave us 4 in 8 years and obama -- [overlapping dialogue] -- 3 1/2 years. >> it's done. it's done. we need pay it down. that's want an excuse for rich people to avoid paying taxes. >> sean: what you are missing is -- [overlapping dialogue] >> tea party is for millionaires -- >> no it's not. >> once the wealth leave, it's mobile. >> when are americans going to come together and say, we have to pay this down? there are not enough cuts. there are not enough cuts that we can do -- >> i-- can i say, my background in the construction industry, i was hired by wealthy people. my background in the service industry, bartender -- might surprise you, i was a dish
9:51 pm
washer i. i am not surprised. >> sean: for years. you know what isn't people who had money spent money. i had a job because of them -- there is a mentality on the left that if we take more and take more, what happens is that people who are smart and have money and they move to states with lower taxes and this is the problem. >> that's what i am trying to address. i am not like "those people" you are talking about. i dont have a problem with wealthy people-- you want more of their money. >> what i want is our debt to be paid down. i don't do it with some joy. i agree to do economic growth. but what i am saying is that if people would say, just for a couple years, we have to pay higher tax rates and try to get our debt paid off. >> sean: the government is borrowing 40 cents of every dollar. >> we have 50% of americans not paying federal income taxes. everyone should have skin in the game. they have broaden the base and everybody should be pay ago. >> that's insane. i'm sorry. if you make $20,000 a year or
9:52 pm
$30,000 with children should not be paying the same rate as somebody -- >> that's not what i said. >> those taxes never come down. everybody knows it. that's the problem. >> okay, if it's want the same rate, why do you want to take money from somebody who has little kids with hardly any mony? >> who said that? >> sean: dirty air, dirt water. we will come back. brad pitt's mother has gotten death throats because of her political happy birthday! thank you, nana send money to anyone's checking account with chase quickpay. all you need is an email address or mobile number. you're welcome.

>> we continue with our great, great american panel. forget brad pitt. we have been having a discussion about v.p. selection. who would you like? >> someone with the... with the conservative main-- names. i want names. >> marco rubio, perhaps, could be someone who could fill that gap. >> sarah palin. [laughter] >> sean: you are -- you know -- [laughter] >> sean: just when i am beginning to like you again. >> i really like rob portman a lot. >> sean: you are saying this for the governor's sake? >> wait a second. that's absolutely true. romney is a very good friend. love him. chris christie, macdonald,
9:57 pm
neighboring state, virginia, pretty important. >> sean: i think it's going to be portman? >> it is. i think it's a good choice. >> sean: last time i said to you -- i am probably going to pay a price f. it's portman, he will never give me an interview. >> that's not true. >> sean: i like him. i have been on stainless steel with him. he's a smart guy. good with the economy, worked with the bush. i am only concerned, vice-presidential, part of the role is to go out and attack. vinever seen him in that role. this is a media age. and i never see him on tv. >> that's a fair thing to say. that's not his personality, obviously chris is terrific-- cheney was -- >> look, this field is strong, quite frankly. all the names you mentioned are really good friends, they are good choices. >> sean: you are ducking. >> that's not true. but the bottom line is, ohio is really important.
9:58 pm
it's real important. >> sean: i agree, it's really important. he's the most popular politician. i think jon kasich in the end will be. he's making a recovery with 100,000 jobs. >> i was on the kasich for president band wagon? i know. if governor romney picked who, who would you fear the most? >> i don't think the pick makes that big of a difference, but they need to do no harm. i think that marco rubio is a very attractive candidate. but i think he will get the sarah palin treatment. and he will be put through the ringener a way that i don't think a rob poortman would. boring is not good. >> sean: he has as much experience as barack obama. >> i am not saying it's right. but i think he would be such a threat. he's young, he's hispanic. he is the future of the party. >> sean: democrats are going to try to attack -- first of all, i have been with him. he's brilliant. he is funny -- >> he's threatening--
9:59 pm
he's threatening. he brings florida -- it's a slam dunk. as portman would take ohio. >> but it's a bigger issue -- [overlapping dialogue] >> sean: have you to win thome both. have you to -- romney has to win them both. >> you are right. ohio is tough. >> sean: i wouldn't take that for granted. you can't take florida for granted. >> to say that rubio is so good, he's threatening, which make its more difficult to put him on the ticket. that's a compliment. but i think you are right. >> the other thing that is important for the conservatives to hold on to the house and the senate-- with conservatives. i agree. all right. so, if it's portman, you said you know him. does he have the dynamic media personality that he can go on the attack and start hitting politically obama and biden hard? i don't want somebody saying, well, he's not doing
