that officially kicks off today. republican national committee moving in over the weekend. the project will set the stage for mitt romney to officially accept the nomination for president. the $20 million project will take about 6 weeks to complete. the convention kicks off on august the 27th. those are your top stories at 5:00. mitt romney looking to regain momentum and shift the campaign in a different direction. he's focusing on the presidential political payoff. you may recall that on friday former massachusetts governor mitt romney actually challenged president obama to reign in his campaign team calling the obama campaigns actions absurd rment beneath the dignity of the presidency. all of this is a sure sign of how nasty this election in fact is becoming. over the weekend while

campaigning in virginia the president made it clear he will not apologize for saying the financial company bane capital out sourced jobs under his leadership. the president addressed the issue during a presentation saturday. he wanted to say no we will not apologize. mr. romney claims he's mr. fix it for the economy because of his business experience. i think voters entirely legitimately want to know what is exactly his business experience. well the question did not directly address rom niece ca--s call for an apology after he suggested mr. romney and securities and exchange commission fileings misrepresented his position at bane capitol. particularly when he officially left which he said would either be a felony or misrepresentations that romney campaign fired back.

2:07 am
worst chicago sort. >> mitt romney he says is falling into the trap. >> this is the trap they set for romney. if you are going -- i don't think he's a felon. i don't think he did anything that was a felony or perjury. i don't think anybody with the obama administration or campaign says that. if you are going to come back hard and say i am not, i didn't and you saw romney fall in there is nothing that would have been wrong if i had been the ceo chairman and actively managing the company. that means he has now bought all of the stuff that was wrong, the out sourcing of some of these companies they invested in some are going to create problems for his base when the ads are run that show what these companies were doing. i think he's little caught flatfooted and stepping on both sides and it's going to look like flip flopping all of those things that go back to question about romney. the obama campaign has set a
