that women today would vote for president obama 53% over mitt romney's 44% if the election were held now. so, who will come out the winner in november? well, joining us to debate this is columnist and author of "out numbered", chronicles. and ladies, thanks for being here, to talk about the all important topic. i want to start with you, because you wrote an interesting article for foxnews.com. i recommend everybody check it out. you say republicans have a problem with women, female voters, what is it? >> i think historically if you look back through the elections throughout time. women have gone democrat. they lean democrat because in a lot part the feminists say that the democrats have been their ali, and exchanged the values of self-sufficient if i and autonomy instead of

relying on men, now, they're relying on government to be their big daddy or whatever you call it. right now is a different time. a lot of women are out of work and female entrepreneurs are impacted negatively by obamacare and i think that barack obama, if i were to make a guess now, would you pull out a lot of the female vote, particularly, a lot of the unmarried women, perhaps more of the married women would go toward mitt romney, but the enthusiasm among women for obama will be substantially less than for other presidents. >> christy, there's a lot to respond to. what is most important to democratic women. is it right now the economy and jobs or is it some of the social issues, abortion, things like that, the obama campaign is making hay within the attack ads? >> well, i think for everyone, the economy is certainly the most important issue and i think that's where you see that women are choosing the democrats because they understand that the romney-ryan economic policy are going to be vast for them and for the family, don't take

a look the at the romney tax plan that's going to make 95% of us pay on average about $2000 for a middle class family with a couple of kids and that's something that they are he' saying, we just can't afford that, we literally can't afford that in this economy, we need that to pay for grocery, gas and that sort of thing and appreciate the fact that president obama has made women gain in the work force, a priority administration. the very first bill he they signed into law, the pay fairness act which allows women to sort of have more advantages and to be able to-- >> sure. >> and so, jedia, here is what's interesting, if you look back at the polls in 2008, president obama beat john mccain and the female vote by 13%, today the poll we showed in the intro, 11%. very little change it seems in how women feel about the president or how they support him, i should say, even despite these tough economic

sometimes. >> i think a lot is going to change in the next he three months, a lot is going to depend on the convention and paul ryan reenergize: there are 800,000 more women today than when barack obama took office and women are often heads of households and writing the paychecks-- writing the checks out. they're the ones balancing the budget, seeing the gas prices rise and they're very in touch with all of these things, so if people don't feel that those things will affect the election, they're wrong. 53% of the country is pro-life as opposed to 41% that's pro choice. i don't think that those social issues led, for example, that was a bad act that enabled frivolous lawsuits. the reason that republicans proposed that, because it was a bad act. and-- >> i want to give christy the last word, about ten seconds for you to wrap it up. >> i don't believe that women are going to be voting for

romney-roin budget where they have consistently ignored women's rights. they have done everything from preventing access to equal pay to extending access to health care and day care-- >> and access, sorry have to leave it there, ladies, obviously, we'll debating this for two months. >> and eight american service members were killed by afghan forces, why are soldiers there turning on our nation's hero? and love exposed this woman accused using tax dollars for her date. ♪

>> welcome back, afghan security forces working alongside troops, turned and allies, recent a uniformed afghan police officer killing two marines while they were eating dinner in the latest so-called blue on green attacks. is a 2014 deadline to remove combat forces from the region actually putting our troops in more danger? joining us now to weigh in, ceo of concerned veterans of america, captain, thank you for being with us. >> good morning. >> dave: this is a concerning trend that's unfortunately on the rise there in afghanistan as we draw closer to that deadline. you say that deadline is actually making our troops less safe. how so? >> absolutely. it's demonstrating a limited commitment.

it makes the afghans and it provides the taliban a talking point in a propaganda talking point they use over and over again. mullah omar released a statement that says just that, it's a deceptive deadline. they're not transitioning, they're defeated and what 2014 means, and he's saying that not just to the afghan people, hey, americans are going away, we're going to be here, turn your guns on them and show your support for us and that the throb aliban is the top dog. >> dave: you've been there training, and some suggest that it's mission creep and the mission far outlived the purpose and get out sooner and withdraw even quicker. what needs to change? >> well, the difficult piece is, this is, you know, it's not a -- they're not easy solutions to this. the best solution is to partner closer with afghans,

create a stronger bond, but at this point, a drawdown is inevitable, it's going to happen and so we just need to give, our commanders every opportunity to provide force protection to do heavier vetting with the afghans they are he' working with and more training of our guys to see the signs when a situation like this might come about about you you're going to-- i even well up thinking about it, because the guys there are going to face even more danger as the time is closer to the end. >> dave: it hurts every time we see one of our boys lost there, i can't imagine your emotions and afghan, the latest poll shows that afghanistan, china, iran, you name it, they are not our biggest threats it national security, but the economy and our debt are. i'm surprised to see that far exceed even cuts to the military. the economy, a threat to national security, is it and why so? >> yeah, that's a poll that was actually done by my organization, concerned vets

for america, and it was polled 800 veterans and i think it's because they know ultimately what maintains our strength, and our military strength. it doesn't mean we don't think that afghanistan is important, of course we do, thinking about every guy over there. at the end of the day it's that economy that feeds our military power, if we don't address our debt, a threat to our national security fwe don't get it back on track, veterans know that and that's what concerned vets for america tries to talk about. >> one of those tough decisions is cuts to the military. regarding sequestration and the mastif cuts coming down from the military. and how concerned are you about those? >> you've got to be concerned about them. panetta calls them a meat ax to the defense budget. exactly what they are, and veterans knows there's waste in the defense department. we intoed to reform defense spending and you don't do that by chopping across the board.

congress and at the time, president obama said well, a lot of people want me to go around congress, but that's not the way our country work, not the way our constitution is written. so he said two years ago, he could not implement this administratively, he needed to go through the legislative process. now by some imperial fiat, barack obama decided he will indeed go around congress and use this, of course, as an election pander, an attempt to have these beautiful photo ops and wonderful stories of these human beings who are, have been waiting and have been identifying in the shadows as we hear, but the problem is, even for those who support the dream act, marco rubio, others, this didn't go through the proper channels, it didn't go through the legislative process, that's a violation of our constitution. but then it presents enormous security problems just as the experts have been saying. dhs has issued no standard

regulations for evaluating the documents that are presented. a lot on the left have been saying, oh, they have to bring a passport and prove their identity. that's not you true at all. they could use school records, medical records. what does that show? it doesn't really show anything. it shows they went to a school and doesn't show their identity. and we need to look at the hijackers for 9/11, they used fake i.d.'s and driver's license to plow the planes into the building. >> dave: so your krn is for security and also for those who have done it the right way. >> yes. >> dave: and who are doing it the correct way? >> i'm glad you mention that had because we see these photo ops of the young people standing in line, but we don't see the photo ops of people around the world living in unimaginable horror, and they are waiting, they are a their life savings to go through the legal immigration process and waiting and waiting and those

economics, look at texas's growth and california's growth. amazing, tennessee. >> i saw alaska. are you factoring in all the oil production, like in texas and alaska? >> yes. i looked at it with and without oil. i look at the nonoil states and, of course, oil is very, very important, north dakota is the number one performing state. i mean, it is really doing well. because of oil. but, even when you take oil out the zero income tax rate states do better than the highest. you know, a lot of things matter in determining economic prosperity for a state but taxes are an extremely important factor and so is right-to-work, by the way. is there are a lot of things... >> dave: when we look at both your history and california's history, the common thread is president reagan and you were an advisor to president reagan who is also, as we know, the former governor of california and he was famous for a lot of tax increases there. in the late '60s that solved, ironically their budget crisis,

right? >> not really, they didn't. under him the performance wasn't very good and i used to tease him about that and i'm, you know, sir, when you were governor... and he said, art, i wasn't a very good gordon but at least i am better than those other governs and at least i learned from my mistakes and they don't even learn from their mistakes and ronald reagan became the best president ever in my opinion because of learning from his mistakes when he was governor and watching other governors do well and do poorly. he was really a scholarly guy on this stuff. >> i've heard the candidate, paul ryan compared to ronald reagan. do you agree? >> i think paul ryan is an extraordinarily competent person. i think he is reaganesque. i'm a huge fan of paul ryan's as you might imagine and, a huge fan ofreagan's as well. >> dave: lastly, what do you see in california that might foreshadow our future, depending upon who is in the white house? >> well, you know, if we have another four years like the last four, let's say another 8 years

like the last 8 years, "w" was not much better than obama to be honest with you if you look at another 8 years or four years like the past 8 years we'll have a very bad fiscal situation and will be broke like california, having to cut all sorts of essential services because we cannot afford it. i mean, look at the number of cities going bankruptcy. but, let me add one thing, i have work with jerry brown for years and years and i am a huge fan of jerry brown's. he ran on my 13% flat tax when he ran for president. and i'm a huge fan. i think that jerry brown once this stuff gets over, can switch and become probably one of the greatest governors ever, if we goes back to his basic principles of pro-growth economics. jerry did well after prop 13. >> now we have prop 30 coming up and we can't get into that. we like having you on because you are honest and it is a pleasure to see you. >> dave: good to see you. >> thank you very much, a pleasure buying with you. >> dave: book is in bookstores everywhere, up next going to great extremes to catch a thief.
