we want to maintain the existing health benefits. >> they are also strongly opposed to a new evaluation system. chicago mayor rahm emanuel saying a strike could have been avoided if the two sides kept talking. >> because this is a strike of choice and because of how close we are it is a strike that is unnecessary. >> city officials will keep more than 140 schools open for a few hours this morning. that's so students have a place to go and get a couple of meals. >> law americas return to capitol hill this week and they will see farmers in full force to be sure they don't cut off their aid. the farm bill expires at the end of the month. the senate passed the new farm bri bill and is considering holding a vote on paul ryan's budget plan that is expected to be shut

their appeal to voters. governor mitt romney will be in ohio today. that's a key battle ground state. romney needs to win it. he is taking aim at president obama on the sluggish economy and jobs. >> the president has kept in place a series of policies that have made no progress against unemployment and is shrinking job market. the number of individuals who are in the job market today is in an awful 30-40 year low. people can't find work. if this president is re-elected you will see chronic high unemployment you will cee-lo wage growth if any at all there will be this fiscal calamity at our doorstep. >> over the weekend president obama was in florida sunday. focusing on the romney ryan medicare plan. >> their voucher plan for medicare could bankrupt medicare. our plan strengthens medicare.

most of that is from people getting new jobs. it's not from a reduction of the labor force. bureau keeps track of number of discouraged workers. the number of discouraged workers fell. i think some people are choosing to go to school that shows up at the end of the summer is nolt a big surprise. the problem is moderate growth faster than the rest of the world. the entire world economy is in a tough spot because we are struggling to get out of the worth recession. >> he is referring to romney advisor glen hubbard also hitting president obama on his tax policies saying if he gets a chance to raise taxes on the

rich the economy will remain stalled. >> i say talking about across the board cuts on every household in america by 20 percent we will have to broaden the cabase to pay for that. also a keep tut cut in the tax ra rate. i can't image an argument that says raising marginal tax rates on high income people many of whom are business owners it is recipe fo economic growth. getting back to the growth we talked about is facilitated by raising taxes not tax reform. >> he says his plan won't cut taxes for the wealthy he will bring down their rates of taxation. >> now to stories you can bank

>> we are looking at cooler fallen temperatures. chicago a 54 degrees and 51 in cleveland. we won't be heating up a whole lot. cleveland 70 degrees. even in new york city 73 degrees for a high temperature. feeling cooler across portions of the great lakes and the northeast. if we head westbound we are still looking at hot temperatures. rapid city 98 degrees for your high. as far as rain fal goes much quieter across parts of the eastern sea board over the weekend. we had a lot of cold weathe-- s weather. muchbout across the southeast. dry day without a sunshine. very quiet over the pass.

this is how america already has it going. people start working in their teens there's a human cost to these jobs reports that says they are glassed over. >> when i was a kid and i had my summer job you spend your own money. >> let's talk to paul ryan his comments on unemployment. >> it's the 43rd month of unemployment above 8 percent. for every person who has a job last month nearly 4 stopped looking for work. that is not a good direction. >> that is the hidden number is when you stop looking. >> you go from 8.3 to 8.1 percent. 8 million people have dropped out of the job market. 8 million since the inauguration. that is 8 million americans adults who have given up on the american dream. you know what?

i guess another point paul ryan could have made was in june because the numbers were revised. the number was 45,000 americans. 174,000 on food stamps. that gives you some sort of idea of what is happening peer -- here. people don't want to be on food stamps and welfare. they give up they become wards of the state. at some point it is hard to get out of that. certainly job skills and ability to get off the sofa. all of that fades away. we are seeing that every single month in these numbers. these numbers you look at them and say okay 94 thousand. some people come out and say it wasn't too bad. these are horrific numbers for america which is a job creation machine. >> one of the figures coming out is people are facing retirement. they are not able to get by any more making the jobs that would

the lawyers of the man accused of killing trayvon martin want his school orecords for suspension records. at the time of the shooting he was suspended from scoot after drugs were found in his book back. they plan on getting posts from martin's facebook and twitter account. >> a 14-year-old business business boy charge -- wisconsin boy charged with having a gun. he got into a fight with dennis smith. buchanan's mother and stepfather showed up at the scene and one of them handed him a gun. that's when beau cane nan fired 23 shots at smith. the teen is now facing life in prison. his stepfather and mother both face charges for contributing to the crime. another day another complaint about the tsa. a woman flying out of houston airport is live individual.
