and affect their memory. in adults we know dealing with cancer arsenic can lead to bladder cancer, lung cancer and skin cancer. there is standard that the fda has put in for water but we don't have anything like that for the food. >> jamie: can you eat rice safely? >> i read a book on fear, i think you can eat rice safely. the amount of arsenic to poison you is about hundred thousand times is what we're talking about here. david is raising a good point. one of the reasons, arsenic in the water that gets into rice, rice loves arsenic. it picks it up out of the soil. organic you get out your system but with chemicals that are in environment we are seeing more inorganic arsenic and that can lead to cancer. there is some risks, formula

7:36 am
good news about the fda. fda is working on a study of human infants now to see whether by using umbilical core blood, it would have affect. it's nice but we are now doing it humans. >> kelly: what kind of promise is it and how soon will it get into the mainstream? >> i do want to do with aging. us a age you get more of this hearing loss. sometimes medications do it and sometimes trauma to the ear but as you age, that is the key population. >> kelly: is there a way to prevent this if you get constant testing. >> hearing loss and numbers have been going up. i'm a little concerned about some of this research. we talk about this but by the time they come to the clinical, with the way of the research funding it may or may not be
