his governing plans for the next four years. it's all attacks against mitt romney down the stretch here. you saw the numbers a moment ago i think they are only going to get better for the republican side florida and nationally as we move forward. what does team obama think about the recent shift in the polls? former white house chief of staff mayor rahm emanuel say they knew this would be the case. >> it is a very tight race. it's a competitive race. we always knew it would be in this place in the sense that it is coming down to a few states and a few votes. one candidate wants to take us back to the policies that led to the economic near collapse of the great recession who turned his back on the auto industry and a president who believes by investing in american people investing in the middle class that that is the best way to grow the economy. everybody always knew this was a tight race and it was going to come down to a few states. i think that that is where we are today and that's why every

manhunt. he walked into the salon sunday morning and started shooting. he killed three women and injured four others before turning the gun on himself. police locked down a local mall a country club and a hospital while they looked for him. eventually finding his body in a locked room in the spa. police say the shooting was a domestic dispute between him and his estranged wife who worked at the salon. >> classes in beirut and other parts of lebanon leaving two people dead and more than a dozen injured overnight. hours after hundreds of protestors stormed the government palace. here's what you missed while you were sleeping. nissan recalling 14,000 cars. they are feared both connected to wheels and steering could come lose and then fall out leading to crashes. it effects the 2012 and 2013 altima. there are no reports of any injuries. take a look at this. that big night right there was a meteor flying over the san francisco bay area. it has not only left its park in the sky, some residents got a piece of the flaming fireball. lisa weber in nevada california says she theirheard a thump on roof. when she check it had out she found this two inch rock. it is a chunk off the meteor. pretty cool. now to some sotories you ca bank on this morning including a tax hike that could effect 163 million americans. lauren simonetti is here.

good morning i guess. >> bad news. 163 million workers will likely be hit with a big tax increase regardless of who wins the election. a 2 percent reduction in social security payroll tax is going to expire at the end of the year. say you are making 50,000 dollars a year. you will save the 1,000 dollar tax increase. with two earner family will likely see a $4,600 increase. social security is funded by 12.4 percent tax of wages of 210,000 dollars. it is split between employers and workers. they cut the portion workers pay. the problem is it saved us on average $19 a week. few people notice to go out and spend those savings. >> retailers looking forward to election day being over. >> i know. there is a reason retail sales are struggling rain, snow, a popular movie is coming out over the weekend and now the

it is the third and final faceoff president obama and mitt romney's debate tonight. it is focused on foreign policy a topic that has already sparked a lot of fireworks. >> joining us now is doug luzader. >> instead of standing on podiums or walking around one another on stage like the last debate we are going to be sitting at the same desk with one another. they are supposed to talk about foreign policy you know how this goes just about anything could come up. the tone tonight may be some what more subdued than we saw during the last debate when things got pretty heated. the president will no doubt try to question mitt rom niece readiness on the world stage. >> people want to know they have a strong steady hand in the oval office. they don't want someone who is reckless and who has been consistently wrong on foreign policy issues as governor romney has. >> romney may try to hit the president on the u.s. consulate attack on libya with questions

high. >> nothing to brag about it is where it is when he took office but this is a devastating high national average for unemployment. 7.8 percent. to your count about the key swing states they saw improvement from those unemployment numbers. it is still devastatingly high. one who had improve is ohio dropping from 7.wi8 to 7 percen. compared to history where full employment is 4 and a half, 5 percent we are way off that mark. we are creating far too few jobs to approach that full employment picture any time soon. >> the fiscal cliff is looming. briefly explain what is going to happen unless congress acts? >> come the new year it amounts to a battery of tax increases and spending cuts.

tax increases because the bush tax cuts will expire a number of other things. spending cuts because congress couldn't come to a deal on the debt ceiling unless they put in sequence. it will impact ourlife day-to-d. the congressional budget office predicts it could if we don't resolve it send the economy into fiscal recession. president obama says he is going to veto some of the possible measures being talked about to avert this crisis. where does it lead us? let's look at a poll right now. we have 77 percent of small businesses in the latest poll saying they believe their taxes are going to increase and 67 percent say they don't plan on hiring next year because of that. >> because there's so much unsirnt out there n. addition you have obama care. otherwise crummy economy we are looking at lackluster growth at best. why would you if you are a business owner want to take any

kind of risk right now throw money out there and make investment they are reigning in their efficient in the terms of the way they are operating. businesses are turning profits but they are not willing to take risk. part of risk is adding to the work force. that's a big problem right now. >> in the same poll which is small business owners only 33 percent say they are optimistic about the economy. >> that's down. >> that's down 61 percent from 6 months ago. >> that is surprising. on the business channel we are constantly looking at the data. my personal favorite it tells people how you feel. if you are confident you are more willing to spend money you are feeling better about things you are not concerned about the future. people are reigning in that confidence. they are hesitant. it gets back to the fiscal uncertainty. already getting political i am not signing anything. they agree to raise taxes on the highest earner.
