8:00 pm
this one will end up leading to more congressional oversight. >> greta: now, we can't even ignore the fact how lucky we all were that the weather played along with it. some people thought there was a sensation of tipping or something, but if it'd be a huge violent seas and violent storms, we'd be telling a different story and a lot of injuries and a very different story, wouldn't it? >> reporter: absolutely. we couldn't call for better weather, it's a little bit on the chilly side, after all, it's winter, but not unreasonably cold and the rains that came through the southeast earlier this week ceased so we could not have asked for better weather for this ship to come into port in mobile, alabama. >> greta: and is it the passengers who had the sensation of tipping. that was never a danger, that was just a sensation they felt? >> yeah, well, don't know for sure, but it appears that this may have been a sensation that
8:01 pm
they were feeling, but obviously, this will be something that comes out in the investigation in the weeks ahead. >> greta: well, it's a lucky night tonight for 4,200 passenger and crew. the ship is safely in port. stay with fox news channel though for continuing coverage of this breaking news story and passengers will soon be getting off the cruise ship in mobile, alabama so stay right here for live coverage and such good news, 4,200 passengers all their family and friends, a four-day cruise that turned out very differently than they had anticipated when they boarded that ship. good news tonight so stay with fox news, they'll be much more live coverage. good night. this afox news alert. the nightmare is almost over for passengers on board that carnival triumph ship. the ship docking in mobile, alabama four days after
8:02 pm
breaking down in the gulf of mexico. passengers can be seen waving yelling and cheering as they approach the port. we're told with only one working elevator it might take four or five hours to get everyone off. as they disembark, the journey isn't over yet. many spending the night on the road. carnival bringing dozens of buses to mobile give passengers the option of leaving tonight for texas, a seven hour drive or others choosing to hitch a ride to new orleans then fly into galveston brk a two-hour car ride and a short flight. family members and friends of those passengers packing mobile greeting their loved ones as they disembark. many plning to skip that road trip and just stay in hotels tonight then hitting the road back home tomorrow. this ordeal beginning on sunday when an engine fire knocked out power and propulsion.
8:03 pm
tug boats had to tow it back. one tow line broke today, all week we've been hearing horror stories about conditions on board. we've been told about long lines, horrible odors, overflowing toilets dark passageways and no air conditioning. there is some relief tonight. the triumph cruise ship now docking in mobile, alabama. it will be several hours before those on board will be able to get off. they're going to be disembarking by deck. meaning whatever deck they're in that, is when they'll able to disembark. it's going to be a long night for many of them. joining us on the phone is brenda, stuck on the ship and waiting to disembark. brenda? >> yes. >> can you tell us what you're thinking now? you may be ready to get off as quickly as you can. >> yes, we're super excited.
8:04 pm
we're looking out of the window ask don't see water. >> good news. i understand that you have been able to speak with your family at home and tell them what is going on? what has this been like stuck there so long? >> it's been an experience, challenging experience but we made the best of it. we're here with family. and like i said we made the best of it. >> what do you think the hardest part has been? >> the hardest part besides being away from our families back at home was the whole bathroom situation. it was pretty tough. >> what is that like? over 4,000 people on the ship. and what where you being told with regard to that? >> we had to take care of our business either in the shower or in red bags. and... that was a challenge but once they got some of the bathrooms working they were good about cleaning after everyone. so... that was very good.
8:05 pm
>> we saw some people had set up makeshift tents on decks. we're assuming that is due to the fact it got hot with no air condition lg on board. did you -- did that happen to you guys as well? were you having to go outside as well to try to get air? >> yes. we were by where life boats were but took our mattresses and spent the night out there. and it wasn't too bad but we were still outside. yes, until last night, when it got cold. >> we've heard about the food situation. the fact that you guys had to wait in long lines. tell us about that. and how stressful that was on you. >> um... it was there is only actually one day we had to stand in line for a burger. the first day they were serving burgers everyone was excited and went in stood and line. it took a while but i can't
8:06 pm
complain because i was here, so long and i was never hungry. i my belly was always full. i always had water. that is a very big blessing. >> that is good to hear. you know you're hearing they're giving you a choice as far as what you want to do when you get off the ship. do you want to stay in mobile or get on a bus and -- for seven hours, what are your plans? >> we're getting on a bus and drive tok galveston. we just want to get home. >> what do you think you'll be doing on that bus? i assume sleeping? >> yes. now that we have phone and we have service we've been glued to our cell phones so maybe not. >> who is the first person you called? >> my husband. >> oh. >> yes. >> speaking of sleep i mean i'm sure you didn't get much sleep on the ship. >> there was days that actually one day was the
8:07 pm
weather was perfect and i was -- we were able to get a good night's rest but you know, there is always noise people walking around. and getting from one where to another we were with one of the lift boats were. it was bri. it was challenging but good. >> that is g now, once you do get home what is the first thing you're going to do? once you get home? >> after taking a shower i'm going to hug my daughter and just hug her and hold her for a while. >> you know the things you take for granted right? >> yes. and flush the toilet. i'm just going to flush the toilet because i can't. >> all right. all right. thank you so much for joining us and for telling us about your ordeal and thankfully, it's almost over, hopefully in the next couple hours you're going to be able to get all of you off of the ship. thank you so much. >> yes. thank you. >> thank you. >> for anyone just tuning in
8:08 pm
this is the carnival triumph cruise ship just minutes ago come into port just within the last hour. they can't get all passengers off right this second. it's going to take a few hours but the ship is in now. it's been stuck out in the ocean since sunday due to an engine fire aboard the ship. passengers told stories of just pretty horrible conditions not a lot of food not a lot of water no facilities to use. just speaking with one passenger said she couldn't wait to get home. so giving people options for tonight they can stay in mobile alabama in a hotel or they're providing chartered buses so they can go ahead and go back to galveston where ch is writ left from. we just spoke to the passenger said she planned on doing that. she planned to go ahead to get back just as quickly as she could. and there are a lot of other passengers on this ship. another passenger waiting to
8:09 pm
disembark. hi, we just talked to one other passenger. you must be so excited. it must be hard to wait around. >> yes. it is. i'm going stir crazy. >> tell us what this has been like for you? we're hearing conditions were awful. >> they, they were pretty awful but everybody kept a good attitude. it was uncomfortable but the company was good. >> that is -- what are you planning to do? will you planning to hop that fwous get back to galveston as soon as you can? or stay there and wait it out? >> i'm going to go to galveston. i want to get to my vehicle and get home to my bed and not think about a cruise ship for a while. >> we understand you got married on that ship. >> yes. i d.
8:10 pm
>> was that on saturday? before this occurred? >> you know it was friday. yes. >> and so i assume you're still celebrating when this happened? >> yes. are you oo are you making the best of it?. >> we made the west of it. the crew was really good. and my biggest complaint was with problems before they sailed. i think they didn't tell us how bad the ship was before they sailed until once they sailed. >> what was the toughest thing? sounds like you were surrounded by friends and family since you got married aboard the ship? >> excuse snee. >> sounds like you probably had friends and family with you since you had a wedding on the ship. is that -- . >> i had friends. kind of we're spontaneous with this wedding it wasn't anything planned long term in advance.
8:11 pm
so yes. we had a lot of people and we got 16 in our group. >> and you're just about to get off the ship. what are you thinking? at this point? >> just get me off this ship that. is it. that is my hope. seeing everything. >> we hear cheering. we hear cheering. i think people are excited to be in port. is your entire group going to head back as soon as possible? >> yes. we're going to pick up our vehicles that way, everybody can go home. >> tell us, you know during the worst part of it after you have been on the ship a couple days. did you feel that the staff was taking care of you? that we were doing the best they can do for you? >> the staff really did but they had such limited resources to work with. when you have no power but
8:12 pm
light it's hard to clean things. don't flush the toilets. the staff worked hard. my biggest, i can't compliment enough how hard the staff worked on things as they could. with that number of people and facilities down and just what is going on. >> now we're hearing cheering as you're talking we can only imagine how people are feeling. during that time, though, when you're stuck on the ship, how did you cope with it? did you just walk up outside on the deck to try to get fresh air? >> this i have walked around the ship pr couple hundred times in the last few days you find ways to entertain yourself. people were playing cards. and just sitting around on the deck. i mean, and exchanging books
8:13 pm
and anything you can do to occupy your mind and keep it off of the situation. it was funny about 50% of the day was resolving around playing bathroom scavenger hunt to find a working bathroom or charging parties everybody had phones plugged into one outlet. they'd have 50 people trying to plug into this group of outlets so it was interesting. >> have you and other passengers have a good attitude about all of this and are able to laugh ate though you're not off the ship yet. >> yes i can't wait to get off. >> we can only imagine. as soon as you do get off the ship and get home what is the first thing you're going to do? >> i'm just going to crawl into bed. i will probably flush the toilet a couple times.
8:14 pm
and beyond that, probably just go to bed. and try to forget about this ordeal. >> we're hearing that from a lot of people flushing the toilets. things you take for granted in life you think about you don't have them. >> yes. i don't ever want to see a red bio hazard bag again in my life that. is what they were giving to us use in place of a toilet. >> all right. anything snels. >> and lining up up and down the hall. >> anything else? >> for the bag autos anything else about this that you want to say? that sticks out about this ordeal? >> really... you know, everybody kept an upbeat attitude. the staff worked hard. and everybody made the best of a bad situation. so... you know, i'm not happy with the way carnival
8:15 pm
corporate handled it but extremely happy with how hard the staff worked to do what they could. so... you know, i don't know i'll ever sail on carnival cruise lines again but... you know, at least the staff really shown in that situation. >> all right. thanks for joining us and congrad lailgss on your marriage. we appreciate you talking with us. >> thank you. >> now, we have been reporting from this ordeal passengers looking like they're starting to come off the ship what. can you tell us about what you're seeing now? >> that is what you're seeing now. we can see passengers disembarking from the ship. it's just happening within the past two minutes. very exciting. and after borders there is an
8:16 pm
investigation and right now, we can see passengers leaving with they're wheelly, suitcases on wheels down the gang way. and a long awaited event for these very lucky initial passengers to get off the ship. we're told that the entire process of disembarking from the triumph could take between four and five hours and we're seeing that members of the coast guard, marianne, have just disembarked from the ship as well. there were, in addition to the crew of the triumph, and the pilot, local pilots who come out and meet any large vessel to help it navigate through channels leading into and through mobile bay. in addition to them, there were officials from the coast
8:17 pm
guard on board as well as other officials and obviously a very different ending to your typical cruise. the process expected to take between four and five hours because there is only one elevator limited power on board the ship only one functioning elevator so... foremost of the passengers, they're going to be carrying luggage down the stairwells and hoofing it. that is what we're seeing now, marianne. >> as you were talking or watching people as they're filing down and you know they're carrying huge loads but people look like they're hurting to get off this ship. i'm sure they can't wait. >> and -- yes. a lot of excitement here there has been cheers back and forth. we did notice a passenger on a
8:18 pm
stretcher. we know that there is ambulance waiting here. we don't know if it's for the passenger or if it's just here as a precaution but we can see one passenger being removed on a stretcher. and also seeing wheelchairs. seeing what carnival officials were saying about priorities they're going to give elderly to infirm. families traveling with children before the general public. the able-bodied cruising passengers are able to get off the vessel. we're seeing plenty of people leaving now, last passenger on the ship probably will not be leaving for another four to five hours. well into the wee morning hours of friday. >> you've got to imagine it's got to be difficult for those knowing they're going to be
8:19 pm
the last few getting off of the ship as they're watching everybody else get off. >> yes. absolutely. and then, talking -- going back to that passenger on the stretcher. we're seeing people getting into the ambulance. so... obviously, some passengers requiring some additional medical attention. and... earlier, in the day, the coast guard had to medivac a woman who suffered a stroke. they medivacked her off the coast of mobile she was met by an ambulance there z right now we just sought first batch of passengers set foot on dry land here in mobile. very exciting and passengers
8:20 pm
being escorted inside of the terminal. there are pillows and blink yits, food, water. and then, from the terminal, most of the passengers, there are some who are greeting family members here who will take them home. most are going to board buses that will take them to ports in texas on board 100 motor coaches that have been reserved or some will be heading on some of the motor coaches to new orleans where they will overnight it in a hotel, then fly out tomorrow. 20 jets have been chartered to take various cruise passengers home people have been asking why not put people up in hotels in mobile and fly out of mobile? carnival officials say because the air sport much bigger in new orleans they have more charter options and so... the people who are going to be
8:21 pm
utilizing those flights will overnight in new orleans. however those meeting families in mobile carnival is offering to put them up in hotels we're watching that ambulance pulling away. >> we're watching with you. >> from the port. >> we're watching with you. >> and -- yae. we don't know who is being treated inside. it looks like in -- an elderly female. we don't know what she's being treated for. but she is being carried away by the ambulance presumably heading towards a hospital here in mobile alabama. >> and you mentioned another passenger had a stroke. we know conditions were horrible foremost of the time these people have been stuck aboard but we did hear from a couple passengers saying the crew tried to make sure people
8:22 pm
had water and some food and they did their best but of course being without necessities for four days and no air conditioning has got to be hard even on the healthiest person. >> yes. it's going to put stress on anyone. this particularly, the elderly. now, marianne if you look at the gangway, we're seeing families with children, one priority group. the elderly, people with medical conditions, obviously we saw the woman being evacuated in the ambulance. and now we're seeing family was children disembarking from the ship. >> i just saw people jumping up and down. as they were getting off the ship. you can only imagine how happy these people are to be back on land. have you been able to talk to anyone yet?
8:23 pm
>> the people who got off the ship immediately were escorted into the terminal. and so the our only opportunity will be those meeting families. they're going to do that inside of the terminal and we'll have access to them. another curious thing that we're noticing is that passengers disembarking from ships are wearing white bathrobes. presumably provided by the ship. but we're not -- we're not sure what is up with that. >> it could be a parting gesture may be lack of clean clothes. another possibility is that it's cold here, it's getting down into the 50s and 40s and maybe they just needed the added warmth. this is sheer speculation and
8:24 pm
when reporters speculate that is a very dangerous thing. what i can tell you for sure is that we have seen the first passengers now beginning to board charter buses and have -- we're seeing one passenger plume bli just disembarking here in mobile. going off into mobile wheeling a suitcase and a very popular person being followed by a trail of reporters and network booker autos yes. we just saw that. we want to hear from them, we're heard from passengers as this has gone on. and a couple earlier said i can't wait to get off of here. we know they've got a choice, they can stay there and get on charter buses with this process taking three or four
8:25 pm
hours, i assume they have several charter buses. >> exactly they have 100 buses chartered so bring these passengers to their various destine yaigsz whether it's new orleans or whether it's galveston and houston and in texas so 100 charter buses and 20 chartered flights out of new orleans. >> i wanted to ask you mentioned all of the official goesing aboard the coast guard and ntsb and officials from carnival. what are they going to be looking into with regard to what happened? >> yes. yes. well, they, ntsb is going to be looking into what caused this fire that disabled this ship.
8:26 pm
these incidents occur more than a lot of people realize according to this maritime lawyer jim walker but often quickly forgoten this, particular incident because of the huge number of passengers involved received a lot of media attention so perhaps will lead to more action maybe a congressional ininjuriy. one interesting thing about this is that these big ships fly under foreign flags. that darn value triumph flies under the flag of the bahamas so they face leg regulations than if they were a vessel regulated and certified here in the united states. companies set up shop in these owe smaller countries and also as a by product they face less
8:27 pm
regulation. some critics are saying this subjects passengers who buy and large are americans traveling on these ships to these potential incidents and perhaps, there needs to be more oversight. so jim walker this lawyer we are speaking with says he hopes this leads to a thoughtful congressional inquery and that there is a passenger bill of rights coming out of this. right now, passenger rights are pretty much dictated by fine print on tickets, in this case carnival is giving a full refund and a credit for a few tour cruise and giving them 500s ndz cash in addition to covering expenses involved with getting home but carnival legally is not required to do
8:28 pm
any of this. so it will be interesting to see what comes out of this. will there be more oversight? and another interesting thing is that we've posed the question whether passengers would in addition to being reimbursed for expenses whether passengers who have lost wages as a result of not being able to show up to work whether they'll be reimbursed. waiting to personal lay poll jiz to passengers, earlier,
8:29 pm
during a news conference he says he was heartened to see comments from passengers and families on social media. >> on that note on the comments from passengers and families we're just now going to flare someone who has been reunited with his wife and daughter. joining us is joichblt john tell whaus you're thinking the moment you saw them? >> oh, thank god it's over. i just got the best gift i've had in 14 years. since my honeymoon. >> and it's valentine's day. >> yes. it's valentine's day the best yet. >> tell us what you're thinking while you were stranded? >> it was beyond my control. we did a lot of prayer, so thankful surrounded by a great church family from frijdz and
8:30 pm
family around country showered us with prayer and love. we're just so great tofl god that we're taken care of safe and sound. we are together that is all that matters in my mind right now. >> that is wonder tofl hear, did they tell us what they went through? whether they had food and with ther? how they're taking care of them selfs? >> i heard from my wife and no communication this afternoon. and i am so glad we're concerned and heard reports as well. that she was if good spirits. it was challenging. you know? no comfort but they managed. we feel great right now.
8:31 pm
hear, we know passengers have a choice as far as what they're going to do what are your plans? >> all i've done is hug her now. but we're probably going to spend the night here in mobile. and then, we'll head to lake charles tomorrow. >> that is where you're from? >> louisiana? >> yes. yes. i've been here since 4:30 waiting on my wife and daughter. and their first cruise ever. but we're not worried about that now. they're here we've got a large banner saying thank god it's over. >> that is my sentiment. >> what was the first thing your wife said to you? >> well we didn't say anything. it was a good, long kiss! >> that is very.
8:32 pm
>> we love each other very much and celebrating our 15th year. she's my faithful, life long wife. i can't describe how good it feels to see her and my daughter, safe. we're very, very happy so it's going to be a great valentine's day. >> sounds like a wonderful reunion. one more qe.. >> sure. >> this is a tough ordeal. are they angry with the cruise line? do they understand they did what they could for them? it's just one of those things? >> it's just what the gentleman described earlier. they wished thing woz have been done differently but as far as crew mates on the ship they said they gave the royal treatment on the ship. so we'll discuss that later. i was disappointed with the
8:33 pm
miscommunication we'd receive frtd care line but we're so grateful now. i just can't complain. >> you said miscommunication what sort of miscommunication did you get? >> well... for example, we had one night they called and said there is meft of the power restored on the ship. my wife told me that that didn't happen. i recall in one instance they'd give me nautical disstance, speed of the ship, location. i would call back and they'd tell me they don't have that information. and i could not understand how you can call a same number and get a different response
8:34 pm
within a matter of hours. >> yes. i'm sure it was confusing and a lot of things changing and happening. but good news as you just told us you're reunited and sounds like you're going to have a great night, great valentine's day. good to hear you're back with your family. thank you so much. >> absolutely. >> thanks for joining us. >> thank you. >> have a good night. >> now we're going to go back to jonathan who has been reporting for us and watching these passengers. disembarking is going take a few hours. they're disembarking by deck whatever deck they're on. they got elderly and children off first, it's going to be a lengthy process. jonathan, what do you see right now? >> we're seeing handful of passengers that are disembarking here in mobile.
8:35 pm
reporters want to know about their experiences and most of them wearing white bathrobes. i have not been able to get close to any just yet but you and i both know our producer who is speaking to one paechblgt i expect we'll get a full debrief from him as well as tape from passengers shortly. >> yes. we do. i'm sure he's going to get that back to you just as soon as he can. one passenger was just reunited with his wife and daughter and said i don't care about anything that happens in the last four days i'm just glad i've got my wife and daughter back. it's valentine's day and i'm happy. you've got a lot of people celebrating. are people angry? he said no. we're not. we're just glad it's over. no. we've been seeing smiles, relief, one woman who got off the ship actually knelt down and kissed the ground,
8:36 pm
pavement here at the cruise terminal. so just lots of smiles and excitement. and relief. to be off the ship after spending those days at sea. >> and now, tell us for anyone bho hasn't been listening and isn't up with what is going on. are they putting people on those chartered buses? that are going to take them back to galveston? >> yes. they are loading people onto the buses that will be heading back to galveston, some going to houston. others have 100 charter buses in all, those not going to texas will be going new orleans, those going new orleans will board charter flights. carnival chartered 20 jets to take these passengers home over the course of friday. and it's really left up to the passengers whether they want
8:37 pm
to overnight at a hotel or in new orleans or fly home or whether they want to braift trip and you being from texas have a better idea had what drive time s i understand from mobile it's about eight hours to houston then, perhaps an additional two, two and a half hours to galveston. >> yes. it is. this is not a short trip. i was shocked when passengers said they're going to jump on the bus. >> and so... imagine that you've been stuck on the ship without a lot of power. do you want to be on that bus for this time or would you rather just grin and bear a shorter two-hour ride to new orleans stay in a hotel and then fly home? i don't know that. is going to be a personal decision. and if i had gone through this i would probably want to
8:38 pm
disembark in mobile and just walk home. >> walk home. at least relax a little bit. i can't imagine what it was like for them. stuck that long. you and i have been probably stuck at airports probably no mer than a day or two. this is four day was nothing. no water, hardly any food. >> yes. you know when i covered earthquake in haiti. we camped out in a live stock pasture in hatey. i remember those conditions and just how gritty and smelly i felt when i woke up the next morning and not that i can complain they were victims of a horrible earthquake that. is only one night. you imagine these people have been on the ship without power
8:39 pm
since sunday going without hot showers and in case goesing out with any shower. and without power, without hot food. just very rustic conditions. and so just relief to seat city lights must have been something because looking at the ship i'm looking at emergency lighting and exit lights but not a lot of power. not a lot of lights in the window here. >> and there is probably no choice but to stand on the deck just as much as they could with the sewage and smell was pretty bad inside. we saw people had put up makeshift tents just to get away from everything, probably to get fresh air.
8:40 pm
of as i mexed people having to stand there to watch as everyone else gets off because this is going to be a process. >> and i want to bring in kendall jenkins she just got off the ship. let's -- she's from houston, texas. let's listen to her comments. >> were tents made from bed sheets? >> mattresses and like i said we camped out by our life boat we have nightmares about titanic happening and we wanted to be right on the life boats so... >> there are tears in your iz what are emotions now? >> just so blessed to be back home really. >> tell me about the bathrobe autos we are freezing and we've packed bikinis and cover ups so towards the end we were wearing bathrobes and laughing about it.
8:41 pm
so just trying to keep it humorus and laugh as crummy as the situation is. >> and did i see you kiss the ground? >> we wis kised that ground so. happy to see that ground. yes one friend is a sailor we do not want to go sailing any time soon. >> were you fearing with your snaift. >> yes. we wore our life vests around probable live socially acceptable on board. >> you say you won the cruise? how? >> i was at a rockets game i spin a spinner. it said free cruise. they kept calling i was like fine i'll take it. and i went to the property they're touring and i just signed up. >> did anyone say anything to you about the cruise? >> my mom is worried about the
8:42 pm
germs all about bringing a lysol with you and everything. this is my besty britney woo-hoo. >> we're good. we're good. >> we're ready to go home. >> and there we go. you've heard from kendall, a passenger from houston. >> she said she's going to get corn tortillas. >> yes. yes. that is what she said. and she was the passenger who i saw kissing the ground. you know i mentioned it's dangerous when reporters speculate but this was one rare instance where speculation was right. they're wearing these
8:43 pm
bathrobes because many had not packed for a cold night in mobile alabama. >> they were headed for mexico and sunshine and beaches. >> exactly. they seem happy to be here in mobile. some have family here, kendall, i understand does not have family here. she's from houston her father is chartering... a friend is a pilot is going to help them and get them home. so she's disembarking here. >> we can here david giving you information as we're speaking tell him thank you for getting over there like the true brave producer that he is. >> i've noticed he had a great
8:44 pm
attitude. saying yes we're off a ship. >> she had tears in her iz. she's relieved and said she's on the ship she was concerned for her safety but just so relieved to be off and buy and large what we're hearing from passengers is that the crew did the best they can to make them comfortable. there is a shipment of supplies that went out to the ship. some food on the as well as an emergency generator delivered the night before the ship came ashore. i'm told a lot of people had a good meal, steak and lobster. and so that would be enough to make a lot of people happy but there is sentiment that the crew did their very best to
8:45 pm
make people here comfortable. we're not seeing any resentment. >> we continued to see passengers filing off the ship. until they're ready there are a lot of passengers going to be watching others get off. but as you said they're going ahead and boarding people on charter buses trying to get those going for anyone that wants to go to galveston quickly can hop on one charter bus. this is going to take seven hours. seven to eight hours to galveston from mobile. but a lot of people are choosing to do that. and we talked about ntsb and
8:46 pm
coast guard and officials getting on the ship to try to investigate what happened. and to see something like this from happening again. can you tell us what investigators are going to do moving forward? >> yes. it's interesting. the cruise ships fly under the flag of foreign countries, kampb value triumph flies under the flag of the bahamas. you're going to have the investigation led by ba bahamian mayorra time authorities. working in conjunction with the authorities trying to get to the cause of what happened what caused an engine fire. hopefully to prevent this from
8:47 pm
happening the future, some people calling for more oversight of the cruise inindustry. because the cruise liners though they carry large number of americans, because they fly under foreign flags they don't face a lot of regulations by u.s. authorities. we're seeing first buses leaving taking passengers to a combination of destinations in texas and new orleans. >> that has got to be bittersweet. they've got to be happy to leaving that ship on the other hand there is a long trip head of them. >> they do. and they're looking packed but we're getting lots of smiles and people waving. >> yes. yes. >> i'm waving back. i'm a softie.
