welcome everybody. where is the beef? it's heading higher that is where, 10% higher and at a time when people's paychecks are shrink that go is not good news. so instead of lawmakers serving up scare tactics, should they focus on cutting shop ears break. scott, let's start with you? >> when you take the high cost of energy and high cost of unemployment insurance and everything that goes along with it, to think that the actual business owners are not going to pass that off to consumer says a mistake. then you throw in the scare tactics and it's going to lead to higher costs. they need to stop with the scare tactics and they need to get down to business. >> ground beef is up, chicken is up 12.2%. families can't take this, can they? >> and gerri, inflation is caused by government, by the artificial expansion of the

money supply to support all that spending. as you are pointing out, prices go up, value of people's savings goes down. it's devastating especially to poor folks, folks on a fixed income and both parties are guilty of this. these prices have gone up but even in the last ten years, goods that cost $1,000 and they cost $1300 today. >> think i she absolutely right. with the treasury selling an enormous amount of debt, something 70% of the beondz being sold are being bought by the federal reserve. that is the same thing as printing money. people doesn't understand that. that exactly what is happening, that is latent inflation. problem of food prices, feed grain has gone up in price so both chicken and beef are going to suffer as a result.

when a farmer's prices goes up he is going pass out the consumer and consumer is going to have to pay more. >> say that happenings. what do you say. is this critically important in rising prices. >> a simple rule every dime counts. when they are sitting at the tackle, they are looking at their checkbook everything matters. the big problem and jonathan is right. fed keys printing money. we're seeing a little bit of inflation. wait until you see what is coming down in the road. i'm worried about hyperinflation. when you are printing trillions of dollars. what do you say, marjorie? >> i go around the country and talk to moms and wal-mart moms they express concerns about making their dollar stretch. that is true when prices are going up. i think it's been stable for quite a few years. they are thinking about how much gas is going to cost and going to cheaper grocery store or what they can do without that week.

so that is real concern that a lot of americans feel and wanted to make sure that in washington we're hearing those concerns and speaking the language that we understand those concerns. >> is this going to be a major drag on the economy. i'm back to you now? >> if government allows it to be. energy is an obvious example. prices for energy have gone up. the massive inflation spike we saw in the late '70s and early '80s, that was born in the policies of carter, ford, nixon, administrations prior. we a need get tough politicians who are going to stop spending and put the government back on a sound footing. back to you on the food prices. can it trickle through to a broader economy. this kind of price increase could have ramifications for

g.d.p.? >> getting back to what was said to think politicians are going to stop spending, they are like pigs in a trough and they are going to keep spending. number two, the families of four they are getting smarter. they are going online coupon sites. they are shopping and joining clubs where they get discounts. but their margin is getting slower. bottom line if it is a real problem, as you throw in energy, high cost of healthcare, all these factors are a drain on businesses. its problem. it is a problem. wayne, what do you say broader economic problems? >> i just think they should issue more food stamps. that is what they have been doing. i would like to get in that also. no, the problem -- you can say that -- latent inflation is there and we haven't seen this

experience before. people are going to have to tighten their belts. i have to tell you something. you walk into a restaurant in los angeles or new york. they are packed. people are still spending money. i don't know where the hell they are getting it. they are spending it. i don't want to tighten my belt. i don't want to see inflation. is this going to be a big problem? >> it may be a big economic problem if we see cutting into effect that is going to cut food stamps. then i think you have a real problem. an economic advisor says it was biggest bang for your buck. if we have those cuts -- >> this is not about the sequester but this is what is going on real economy with food prices. what do you say? >> by itself, it's not going to kill the economy but academy everything else going up in price and at the same time the

now new york is the latest place pushing a law to give jobless applicants the green light to sue but gary says these laws could backfire on everybody. >> the problem is number one it's a blanket law affecting all businesses. the other problem costs are going up because all of a sudden lawsuits will be all over the place. if i'm an employer i wanted to hire who i want to hire. it's my business. part of hiring if somebody is out of work for a year, i want to know why. this is plain stupidity. >> what do you make of it? >> i think the mayor of new york is right. the mayor of new york has said the same thing that gary is saying. he made a fortune in the private business and is unpeachable in integrity. he is making one dollar a year to be mayor of new york and he says it won't work. it will end up in a lawsuits. by the way, scott was united

rather than stick because you have folks chronically unemployed and recession. how do you get those folks back into the work force. we should be encourage and making it easier for those folks to get back to work. >> is that the way it works, jonathan? >> if it's a business owners' interests they will hire them but they have right to discriminate. its discriminate is a term for judgment and successful business you need to have judgment especially about how to wayne's point, you want to invest who you want to hire and who you wanted to fire. laws like this is an insult to an individual trying to using their brain to grow his business and hire the best person for the job. >> and with the market again. that is the biggest problem. leave everybody alone. enough for mandates and do this.
