land remembers there is talk about the owe tension threat of the sequester. so far we haven't felt the impact of the sequester. the snow quester shut down business for the day. nonessential employees can stay home. at the capitol behind me on the other side of this metro bus we are told a lot of lawmakers are going to try to wrap up, work on that continuing resolution to fund the government past the end of march by 1:00. one is about cyber security one is about the threat for asteroi asteroids. the president has postponed meetings due to weather. the white house is anticipating so many problems in such a wide area and also anticipating people being able to get into work the first lady actually canceled or postponed until

monday a twitter question and answer session, so things obviously really bad. so far this is pretty typical traffic for a wednesday at 5 in the morning in washington. but the roads are slick, there are crews out but this is just the beginning we will have more for you later on. >> oh, boy, so much snow you might not be able to twitter. >> peter doocy, thanks so much. maria molina has been tracking the storm for us. >> what can we expect? >> this one is going to introduce augull kinds of impac from the mid atlantic to new england as we head into today, tomorrow and even friday. there's a high area of pressure that is helping slow down the storm system. we have tough conditions in the state of maine that high pressure system that is going to snow down the storm system as we head north arred. we are going to see a prolonged period of time of wind snow and

coastal rain. all areas across the northeast are feeling the impact of the storm for several days. washington, d.c. 6-12 inches of snow in the dc area. mostly rain east of the city. accumulations will be lighter. we could see some of the snow mixing into areas west of it well over a foot of snow 18 inches in northern virginia hire elevations in the state of virginia and also southern pennsylvania. a lot of snow with the storm system. that's why we have winter storm warnings in effect. winds will be gusting 20-30 miles an hour at a time. coastal areas don't have land to slow down the wind so you will be seeing wind gusts up to 16 miles an hour possible. new york city as we head into tonight that's when we see the

worst conditions in terms of snow mixing in a couple muches cannot be ruled out. we have winter storm watches posted for boston because they can be looking at significant snowfall as we head into thursday and friday. man ye venezuelians are wondering about their future as hugo chavez passed away yesterday. he was a polarizing figure at home and abroad who frequently clashed with the united states. >> venezuelian president has lost his battle with cancer at the age of 58 known to many as a populus chavez was an outspoken opponent against u.s. influence and just as big of a supporter of a united latin america. >> 4:25 in the afternoon the 59 of march hugo chavez died.

then for a couple years he shied away from the word stimulus. every time he negotiated he wanted more spending money? what did he say in his state of the union address this year? he wants to invest which is new democratic work for spending. he talked about spending. what i meant to say earlier he will dangle. in negotiations with the speaker i offer an x, y and z. always in the back room and the whisper show in a budget that he hasn't done because he is not interested in cuts. >> krauthammer sited the president's state of the union address saying he isn't interested in cutting for the country which includes an entitlement state more along the lines of europe. a new survey finds young women care more about their looks and less about their careers.

thursday night. 3-7 inches of snow in the five boroughs and just outside of new york city. new jersey, connolly con tonight and also into thursday night. boston, massachusetts we could be looking at 4-8 inches of snow. very low on this forecast because the storm is further away from you. in washington, d.c. 6-12 inches of snow in places west of the core droir. areas across northern virginia and the state of west virginia will be getting some of the highest accumulations. 8-15 inches in some of the areas in west virginia and again up to 20 inches will be possible in some of those mountain tops. otherwise coastal areas will be seeing wind gusts 50-60 miles per hour at times. we have warnings and watches in effect. we could be dealing with flooding due to the beach erosion and on shore flow. >> maria molina thank you so much. a lot of flight problems. >> doug luzader is live outside

all driver's licenses are the same. incredible story of survival. a teenaged skier found alive after spending two nights lost on a mountain in the state of maine. he was seen with his family on sunday when he lost his way on a ski trail. using skills he saw on an outdoor survival show he built a snow cave in order to stay warm and got water from a nearby stream. he followed the sounds of snowmobiles to eventually find his way back to a trail. a driver who searched for the teenager. >> he was good. he was hungry and cold. i had some food on me so i gave him some peanuts and crackers. >> the turnout was tremendous. it couldn't have gone any better. >> the teen was taken to the hospital to be checked out. it appears he is okay. >> san francisco bay bridge lighting up the night sky with the magical sky.
