he wants some reply time. we'll give it to him tomorrow on the factor. thanks for watching me tonight. i am bill o'reilly. the spin stops here. we're definitely looking out for you. >> sean: welcome to "hannity." breaking news about the boston bomber. the reality that the older of the two brothers exhibited many signs of radicalization is becoming more evident. the f.b.i. told lawmakers the suspects' mother new possibly as early as 2011 that her older son had been radicalized, reportedly telling other family members in text messages that she felt he was willing to die for islam. we're also learning that the younger brother told the f.b.i. that his older brother was in fact the mastermind of the plot and that he was only recently recruited to help him carry out the plan. but as investigators piece together their case, the parents held a dramatic press conference where the mother delivered these

single most bizarre comments to date and watch as she says that her sons are actually innocent and then goes on to blame the united states of america. >> after your conversations with the american officials, do you now accept that it was your children who carried out the attacks in boston? >> no. i don't. and i won't. never. why did i even go there? why? i thought our kids going to be safe. for any reason it happened. only america. my kids were not involved in
6:02 pm
this. >> did you notice any changes in them? >> no. we should see the changing, right? any change, whatever is there, we should feel it. i should feel it. they already want me, him and all of us to look. >> who has been saying that? >> i don't know. where is the trust? you're from america. >> it gets stranger in other interviews she's quoted as saying that the bombing was actually staged and that the blood of the scene was nothing more than paint. wow. here with reaction to these bizarre comments from act for america and michael gus from the america together foundation. brie jet, i go to this, we learned the f.b.i. purged the training manuals for their agents to remove any references
6:03 pm
to radical jihaddists. we can't fight a war on terror against these radicals if, in fact, we're not willing to identify them. the second thing, nome did russia warn us, the c.i.a. warned us, the f.b.i. knew about the guy. they interviewed the guy. yet he has an entire youtube channel dedicated to radicalism. there is something wrong. we have an unwillingness in this country to identify radical islamic jihad and it starts with the president. you were in a muslim country. why is there this fear to identify radicals for who they are? >> there is a huge fear and by the way, i was in a christian country which was taken over by muslims. it's not fear. it's willful blindness and that goes from the top down starting with president obama, who as soon as he became president, he changed the threat assessment plan to purge out and take out any language related to radical islamic, islamic terrorism.
6:04 pm
what that led to, sean, is the blind leading the blind because our new agents of the f.b.i., who are not trained to identity the ideology that is driving the jihaddists to commit terrorist attacks like this. now our agents are supposed to protect us, do not really know what they're looking for. they're running in circles. they are politically correct. they are afraid to say anything, those who get it, lest they are afraid to be fired, and discharged without honor from their service, and that's why it's costing our country. not only lives, but we have become the mockery of the islamic world who laughs at us because our enemy knows we are blind and we are choosing our blindness and burying our head in the sand. >> sean: i can't say it any better. mike, you are a muslim. but you're moderate. you've spoken out against radicalism. i give you all the credit for that. here is the problem: you do not recognize what i too and i think
6:05 pm
what she believes. everyone is saying moderate. the moderates and whatever numbers they arei can't give you exact numbers, nobody can -- they are intimidated into silence. they will not say that our religion is being hijacked. why don't more moderates like yourself come out and speak out loudly against radicalism? >> sean, thank you very much. they are doing it, but not enough people. i think you are giving your venue for me to speak out. if more television stations and radio stations give an opportunity, we can build a momentum. just today, i was able to put together 50 muslims from across america who are willing to speak out each time something like this happens, they're willing to speak out strongly -- >> sean: think about in egypt. i warned you the muslim brotherhood was going to happen. it did happen. and they are enemies of israel
6:06 pm
and we're stupid enough to provide them f 16s and tanks and money which i think is insane. but you see the rise of radicalism evewhere. it's now happening all over africa, all overt middle east. >> i want to go back to what bridget said. obama is doing one thing right, not calling everybody a muslim a radical a radical islam. that is the right thing. let me give you an example. there are 2700 rapes in new york in 2010. and 800 mothers. if i tell you guys from new york are murderers and rapists, is that the right thing to do? no. that's wrong. >> sean: the difference is the radical islamic groups, they want to wipe israel off the map. they are anti-semitic. they are anti-american. and they are clear in their goal. they want a world wide fate and willing to sacrifice their own children and present a false ward of 72 virgins, bridget.
6:07 pm
>> yes, they are. and we are seeing the rise of radicals within our own country. the last four years since president obama became president, we have arrested on american soil 226 home-grown terrorists. 186 of them are muslims. we have a problem in this country when a faith-based group that accounts for less than 2% of the american population is responsible for over 80% of terrorist attacks or blood against the united states. that's a problem. by the way, the terror watch list -- >> sean: do we have to consider that if somebody grows up under sharia law that maybe they have been indoctrinated into values that are so contrary to american values that maybe they're not a good fit to come into this country? maybe especially in the treatment of women, the belief in sharia law as implemented in a lot of these countries. what to you think? >> sean, there is a real problem among the muslims and those christian immigrants to the

united states. their children lead two lives. one to show it off to the parents. one their own life in schools. this in the children is causing a lot of pain. this guy, dzhokhar, i think to his mother, he was probably acting as a good child. but outside, he was different. his mother really did not know what was going on. >> sean: the mother did know. that's not true. and then we're stupid enough when we do catch them -- >> his mother knew. >> sean: we read miranda rights so he can shut up and we don't learn anything about maybe where the money came, any foreign ties, any terrorist cells, sleeper cells that may be here in america. it's nuts. we're walking on egg shells because i think people are afraid to speak the truth and the truth is radical islamic jihaddists want to kill us and their numbers are far greater than people want to admit. >> absolutely. it's 540,000 people. that nus a minority.
6:09 pm
over half a million people are on the government's watch list. that's a major problem. we need to throw political correctness in the garbage where it belongs and start calling a spade a spade. >> sean: last word, michael. >> sean, i think in the end, there is radicalism among muslims and we need to speak out and we are speaking. if you google it, there is plenty of it out there. >> sean: thank you for being with us. >> i'm sick of these people as anybody else. >> sean: and thank you both. coming up right here next on "hannity." >> we don't know if we would have been able to stop the terrorists had they arrived here from boston. we just are thankful we didn't have to find out that answer. >> sean: we have breaking news in the boston bombing investigation, including new information on the suspects' plans to target times square in new york city. also governor patrick says he will not release details of the brothers' welfare benefits. why is that? because he says he doesn't want to invade the poor terrorists' privacy? we'll have that outrageous decision debate coming up

>> sean: today we were seeing confirmation that the boston bombing suspects were not done trying to hurt and kill innocent americans. their next target we found out was new york city. here is nanny mayor of new york, michael bloomberg, revealing the disturbing news earlier today. >> we were informed by the f.b.i. that the surviving attacker revealed that new york city was next on their list of targets. he told the f.b.i. apparently
6:14 pm
that he and his brother had intended to drive to new york and designate additional explosives in times square. they had built these additional explosives and we know they had the capacity to carry out the attacks. the investments that we made in counterterrorism operations, technology and intelligence help reduce the important of a successful terrorist strike, but they certainly do not eliminate it. nothing can do that. we don't know if we would have been able to stop the terrorists had they arrived here from boston. we just are thankful we didn't have to find out that answer. >> sean: it's not all new york city police commissioner ray kelly revealed that the second suspect was photographed with his friends in times square in new york city last april and that he was in the big apple again in november. as we learn more about the suspect's intentions, one pressing question remains. what else? were there other targets? unfortunately, we may never know because according to reports, the second suspect's interrogation, get this, it was shut down after only 16 hours.
6:15 pm
at that point a judge and a representative from the u.s. attorney's office interrupted this important interrogation. why? he had to get read his miranda rights. guess what? immediately he stopped talking. there is more disturbing details surrounding the suspects. according to the boston herald, massachusetts governor, quote, clamped down the lid yesterday on the herald's request for details of the suspects number one's government benefits, citing the dead terror mastermind, get this, right to privacy. pretty unbelievable. here with reaction, news editor for townhall.com, katy, also with breitbart, right? >> no. town hall. >> sean: i can't keep up with you. and former advisor to prince harry reid. we agree on deval patrick, the right to privacy? what about the right to people to maintain their lives and their limbs and legs?
6:16 pm
>> i think what these two individuals did was disgusting and what they engage in was a mastermind of terror. i think that they should be punished accordingly. but i do agree with the governor in being able to deny a newspaper that right -- >> sean: why? no. >> turning it over to the government -- >> sean: we're going to learn everything about you. >> i understand. and actually for once i agree with george will, what he wrote in the "washington post" that we have to tread carefully. i know i'm not going to be the most popular person here trying to defend civil liberties. but the one -- >> sean: wait a minute. so you support mir ran did -- hang on a second. this guy mightandaizeing. mean about foreign influence, sources of money, future attacks. we have the guilt or innocence, it's not an issue. so we're going to shut down any interrogation of this guy and that means whatever attacks are on the books, they go forward. you can live with that? >> i can live with the fact that
6:17 pm
they allowed him to be -- >> sean: for the legs blowing off? >> they allowed to be interrogated and once the public interest was on the decline -- >> sean: an eight-year-old kid? >> that we will be able to determine and find the necessary information to put this man away. i absolutely believe that. >> on the welfare aspect of governor patrick shutting that down for the sake of privacy right, i think everyone on welfare should be public information 'cause we're paying for it, especially when it comes to terrorists. the reason why he's doing this in the name of privacy isn't because of privacy. >> sean: cya. >> the left is never willing to admit that all of these systems failed. the systems fail, whether it's immigration, education system, any of that has failed when it comes it jihaddists coming to this country, whether it's the 9-11 bombers or these guys in massachusetts. >> sean: that is outrageous. but the fact that we don't make this guy talk means we are

putting americans' lives in jeopardy and i am sick and tired of this notion that he deserves his miranda rights when he may have information that americans lives are in jeopardy. >> mayor randa rights in an exhibit. the day he was arrested. he had his miranda rights. that was never denied. >> sean: we can still interrogate him. he can file for habeas and get it in 30 days. but he has knowledge of a pending attack, don't we as citizens also have the right not to have our legs blown off or our children killed? >> absolutely. and that is what they will be going on to do. they will be able to try to -- work to find that determination. and i agree that that first part was critical, as we saw, that he was -- >> sean: he shut down. >> there are rules and there are constitutions. >> sean: rules. you know what? there is no rules when you're at war. this is the difference. if you think is criminal or you think it's an act of war. i think it's an act of war. >> it is an act of war and we've been hearing from the

administration that these types of cases have been prosecuted successfully in civilian court. we want to go back to the case of the bombing in kenya when they only got him on one count. >> sean: andy could prosecute him. >> this idea that we need to be treating these as criminal cases instead of at war cases has been a problem since the obama administration came in. and we've seen the c.i.a. get prosecuted further for waterboarding and getting information we needed to prevent these attacks. >> sean: that's how we got bin laden. >> exactly. wow, the administration doesn't want us to do that now. they're willing to give this guy his miranda rights. >> sean: anything he says cannot be used. >> that's not true. >> sean: wait a minute. >> that's not true. while he was in the hospital, anything that he said during that time can be used and will be used. >> sean: it's very likely that -- we have to assume a judge would throw that out. >> you can't assume that, sean. >> sean: we don't need that information for the criminal trial.

$50 in cash, i don't care if a drone or policeman kills him. we shouldn't be willie nilly looking into everyone's backyard and what they're doing. but if there is a killer on the loose in a neighborhood, i'm not against drones being used to search them out, heat seeking devices being used. i'm all for law enforcement. i'm just not for surveillance when there is not probable cause that a crime is being committed. >> sean: so is senator rand paul changed his position? he joins us right now. welcome back. >> well, welcome to you, sean. but i didn't change my position. it's exactly the same position i expressed during the 13-hour filibuster. >> sean: you mean i missed it? >> well, in the famous words of george w. bush, i think i was misunderestimated. if you watch my debate for 13 hours, which i don't think many people did, i used the exact same example of the liquor store in my 13-hour debate. i said over and over again, for example, i also used the

hypothetical, if the twin towers are being attacked, that's deadly force being used against america and americans, there is the right to defend ourselves with deadly force. if someone is engaged -- >> sean: what does that mean? does that mean in the middle of this that the police could have called up a drone strike -- you're saying we should have drone in major cities available if such an incident like this occurs? >> no. i think people misinterpret what we're talking about here. if there is an active gun fight going on and you were shooting at the police and you're robbing a liquor store, the police have the ability and they have a justified obligation to fire back. the type of technology doesn't really matter. for example, if we were opposed to technology, we might be opposed to a drone or a robot that might dismantle a bomb. a drone is a type of technology. i've been against the abuse of the bill of rights, but never said i was against any kind of
6:29 pm
technology. do i want drones flying over getting involved in normal crime sequences? no. but i could imagine a time where a policeman is being shot at in his car and they have the ability to push a button in the car and a small robotic weapon is able to elevate and shoot back at a criminal. so what you call a drone doesn't have to be from 50,000 feet. it could be simply in the neighborhood and part of a car. >> sean: it could be a helicopter, for example, right? >> well, in the heated pursuit of someone who is shooting at the police or shooting at civilians, it doesn't matter what kind of technology it is, but it does matter whether or not there is a heated pursuit and whether or not there is an engagement of a gun fight and whether they're a threat to the policeman. that's what the doctrine is. the thing is i'm against targeted killings by drones, but also against targeted killing by sniper, by spear, by knife, by club. the technology isn't so important. what i was arguing at the filibuster was targeted
6:30 pm
assassination. >> sean: by the way, and i told you this the other day, i took great personal satisfaction that your dad's supporters were coming after you like they were throwing snow balls at me a few years back when he was running for president. but i think i understand where their criticism is coming from and i think it may be something we all agree on. i think the reason that many of us as conservatives are very leery when it comes to government using drones, we don't trust the government. i don't trust the government -- the government can't control our border. they don't want to and they haven't shown a willing tons do it. whether or not they use technology right i think is a legitimate concern that a lot of conservatives, including myself, civil libertarians have. >> and you're talking to the senator who is the most concerned about privacy, the most concerned about your civil liberties, and the most concerned about restricting the use of this kind of technology. that's what i think is a little
