completely from the rain. and it stayed that way until it got closer to the oklahoma city metro area. then at that time, it started to become more wrapped in rain, so you really couldn't see it as we progress into the oklahoma city area itself. and that -- that made spotting very difficult and also made it difficult for anybody, you know, expecting to look out the window and see a tornado to be able to know where it was or -- if it was coming at them. >> we understand that was part of the problem, in terms of people driving into it, they didn't realize they were driving into a tornado. how long have you been chasing tornadoes? >> caller: i have been chasing tornadoes for about 9 years now. >> uh-huh. and -- >> caller: and -- >> how did this one and the storms this evening -- these tornadoes compare? >> caller: to past tornados? of course, the moore tornado happened just last week. and me and my team were on that as well.

overturned vehicles, the tracker trailers that were blown over as well that we have heard about? >> caller: we didn't encounter any overturned semis or anything of that nature. we were forced to stay out ahead of the storm because the tornado was so close to the interthe state, we had no choice but to charge eastward as the tornado was moving toward the area. >> i read somewhere that you said that the tornado was chasing? >> caller: yeah. at one point when we first got on interstate 40 to go east, out of its way, it was -- too close for comfort behind us. we knew that. so we really had to stay out of its way quickly. yeah, we could see it coming down the interstate, right behind us. that's a terrifying moment in and of itself to say, okay, do i have time to get away from this thing? but fortunately, we d. we were

issues, on top of the fact that there is a tornado inside of it. >> what do you consider your most important job, as a tornado chaser? >> caller: as a tornado chaser, getting the word out. public safety, being -- as soon as you see a sign of a tornado developing or a tornado itself, you report it and make sure that the forecasters of the weather, the weather office and the public itself are aware of everything that is happening. that's part of the way that the early warning can get out, through storm chasers who report what they see. >> was there ample warning for this particular storm and string of tornadoes, they were expectd? >> caller: oh, yes. there was ample warning from the moment that the tornado touched down, the storm chasers and the local media alike were on the scene in all sorts of ways with... via phone and via live streams of the tornado itself as it was happening. it was very well surrounded.
