8:00 pm
thank you for being with us tonight how do you like my voice? tell me what you think tomorrow night ain washington. see you tomorrow. raring and ready to go. >> the o'reilly factor is on. tonight. >> this was not a preplanned, precede meditated attack. >> bill: in a stunning announcement president obama is appointing former u.n. ambassador susan rice to be his top national security advisor. is this in your face or what? we'll have a full report. >> if you didn't come in and ask for this tax break, you ought to have never had a question asked of you. >> bill: far left guys like congressman jim mcdermott trying to defend the abuse of power by the irs. we will take a hard look at that. >> i don't care what you believe in, we don't -- wait, wait, wait. >> one of the things that i don't do well, is this:
8:01 pm
>> woo! >> michelle obama heckled at a private fundraiser. wait until you hear to did it. caution. you are about to enter the no spin zone. the factor begins right now. >> shepard: hi, i'm bill o'reilly. thanks for watching us tonight. president obama does an amazing thing that's the subject of this evening's talking points memo. as alert americans know former ambassador susan rice mislead the world about the assassination of the american ambassador to libya christopher stephens. despite being told by the cia that an organized terror attack may have killed the ambassador and three other americans, ms. rice went on tv and said this. the best information and the best assessment we have today is that not in fact, this was not a pre-planned premeditated attack.
8:02 pm
that what happened initially is that it was a spontaneous reaction to what had just transpired in cairo, as a consequence of the video. >> bill: that caused a huge controversy and the benghazi situation is still unresolved. americans still don't know who screwed the whole thing up. so you would think that ambassador rice would keep a low profile. you would think. today, president obama announced that ambassador rice is his new national security advisor. she will replace tom donilon who will leave in july. some pundits say this is an insult to the republican party but it's not. it is defiance it all americans who care about protecting diplomats abroad. talking points doesn't believe susan rice lied. i believe she was told what to say and said it she did no investigation herself. but ms. rice knows, she knows who gave her the misleading talking points and she will not testify to
8:03 pm
that. therefore, susan rice is the face of the benghazi chaos. and now she has been rewarded, promoted by a president who also refuses to explain what happened in libya. outrageous? you bet. the president will also not explain the irs situation. his defenders denying that former irs chief douglas shulman visited the white house 157 times. but he was cleared into the people's house 157 times. that is a fact. those who diminish the shulman factor are lying directly to you of course the white house can clear all this up very easily the president chooses not to and his ache lights defend that. >> many of those meetings were for healthcare implementation. i was in them with them. there is nothing nefarious going on just because bill o'reilly has been raising questions about it. it doesn't mean that there is actually anything going on here. >> bill: that's just dumb. that's just dumb. if there wasn't anything
8:04 pm
going on, then the white house should release information about the meetings. they have it. release it. right? so what we have here is a defiant president, if he wants to promote ambassador rice is he going to do it. if he wants to stonewall about the irs commissioner? he will do that as well. and that's where we are on june 5th, 2013. and that's the memo. now for the top story tonight. reaction with us one of the stars of the five bob beckel. take the rice promotion first. do you agree with it. >> i agree with it i think she is highly qualified. i do think there is a little bit of defiance by obama. i don't think the american people care much about benghazi. that's a sad thing. that's gone beyond them. >> bill: why would you if you are a leader of a country, you are not just the leader of your country but the leader of all americans. why would you and i think you are aptly put it, kind of give everybody a little jazz. kind of give them the middle digit. why do would do you that? >> first of all i think he
8:05 pm
wanted her to be secretary of state that got knocked out because of the benghazi thing because somebody gave her bad talking points. we don't know who those are. >> bill: shouldn't she say who those are. >> keep in mind that security does not have to testify. that is one person who doesn't have to testify. >> bill: isn't that shady? >> shady how? >> bill: because she may be getting the appointment because she won't have to testify. isn't that shady? >> listen, do you really believe that benghazi was some big complicated conspiracy? >> bill: no. i think it was incompetence. >> i think it was, too. >> bill: why don't we the people get the facts so that we can can know who was incompetent so it won't happen again? >> they call themselves dumb. have you ever heard an administration call itself dumb? >> bill: wait. i don't want it to happen again. aren't we an open society? aren't we supposed to be transparent here? are we supposed to be shady? >> no. i think we should know. tom donilon is an old friend of mine. he used to work for me. i think that tom probably will admit as much as
8:06 pm
anybody that mistakes were made. they should have sent their people out to try to. >> bill: they already admitted there was mistakes made. hillary clinton took full responsibility. the problem is we don't know what she took responsibility for. >> no, the only thing we don't know who ordered the standdown. >> bill: no, we don't gnome a number of things. we don't know who gave susan rice the talking points who go out and mislead the world. >> i think tom donilon gave it to them. >> bill: you think but you don't know. >> bill does it really matter? >> bill: it matters to me and i think it matters to millions of viewers. >> is it doesn't matter to america. >> bill: i am the pulse. let's get back to the shady business. ambassador rice gets appointed security advisor she doesn't have to testify. that seems to me a shade shady reason to do it? >> you can say that's the reason she was appointed national security advisor. i don't believe that. i think he wanted her as national security advisor. >> bill: no doubt he wants
8:07 pm
her she is a very loyal soldier. he has a big black mark on her resume. she was given talking points and again i was fair to her. i don't think she consciously lied. hey, ambassador rice here is what you say. sure, i will say it because that's the kind of person i am. i'm giving her a pass on that. so now she knows who talking points so tell the american people. >> we know they were led by general petra he said he wouldn't sign off on it. >> self-serving to him which is not unusual for petraeus. >> wouldn't sign off because he was uneasy bringing video in as primary motivator of the attack. >> said it was the wrong thing to do. if you can't do it, take it out. >> bill: he didn't want the whole thing he knew was bogus. let's get back to the shady factor. this is shady. as a guy who wants honest government, and i assume you do. all right, why aren't you with me saying look, we
8:08 pm
want to know who gave rice the talking points. we want to know who said stand down in libya. we want the irs commissioner's meetings to come out. those are simple things. >> i said three weeks ago and i said on this program the answer to this is president obama ought to hold the press conference and answer at one time. that's a decision they make. not a decision i agree with. >> bill: i think you have to go to washington and i will pay for it and i will put you. >> that's all right. i can handle. >> bill: stand in front of the white house with the sign saying please hold a press conference and answer these questions, mr. president. will you do that? >> can i get in the white house and message inside. >> bill: you are a big shot. >> no i'm not a big shot. >> bill: i want you to go down there and get in the white house and tell them and they will log you in and they will know how are talking to because that's what they do at the. >> i have to tell on my show and only fire hydrant. >> bill: i have a line for that. if i said it would not be

>> bill: personal story segment tonight, there is a new book out called american gun. a history of the u.s. and 10 firearms. the book was written by the late navy seal chris keil who was shot to death in texas last february. a year earlier i interviewed chief petty officer kyle on the factor. anyway kyle's wife tea out promoting the book and i spoke with her last night. >> bill: is this is a progun book that you guys put out what's the headline of the book and most important thing in it. >> i don't think of it as much as a progun book as history book. honestly chris loved american history. yeah his interest are in guns that it makes sense that he would show how history has been changed by people using guns and how the gun manufacturers changed to adapt to the times. it's really fun and
8:32 pm
entertaining look at the people who changed history. >> but there is the specter of your late husband over the book and because he was killed with a firearm by a deranged guy. and that's the center of the debate that most americans who are clear thinking understand we need to defend ourselves with firearms and that's why the founding fathers put that in the constitution. the other side is also disturbing because there are a lot of crazy people that get ahold of guns and do damage like killing your husband. how do you balance that out. >> i think there are always people that are going to kill other people. they were doing it before guns. i don't really look at it as a gun issue because it's overshadowed so one evil act is something that we end up focusing on. we don't focus on all the positive things the vulnerable people like me who feel a little bit safer with a gun. i think it's just grossly skewed to a few evil acts. >> all right. jesse ventura had a dust up with your husband allegedly and your husband was on this program and told me
