[ music ] another secret nsa program has been uncovered. the latest revelation, the nsa and the fbi are tapped directly into the servers of some of the biggest tech firms in the country. microsoft, yahoo, google, facebook, pal talk, a. o. will, oo youtube, skype. what does this mean for you. e-mails, auto, hav audio, video, some of the things that can be targeted. are you willing to sacrifice privacy for increased anti-terror efforts. it's a question president obama seemed to be conflicted on earlier today. >> when i came into this office, i made two commitments that are more important than any commitment i make. number one, to keep the american people safe, and number two, to uphold the constitution. that includes what i consider to be a constitutional right to

privacy. it's important to recognize that you can't have a hundred percent security and also then have a hundred percent privacy, and zero inconvenience. >> it sounds like a republican or something there for five seconds. >> yeah. so yeah. there is this whole thing about whether or not you have to sacrifice any of your privacy to be more secure in combat terror. look. the patriot act, the left pointed the finger at george bush when the patriot act was passed and said look at the overreach, but the patriot act is different. they pinpoint what they're going tooted. what's going on right now is the patriot act on steroids. they're taking complete, broad swaths of groups of people, if not the whole country, and saying we're just going to go ahead and data mine and see if we find something. i'm more concerned about what they do with the data when they don't find something than what they're actually trying to accomplish. i'm not sure with that much data

congress are the people who are fed put their own credibility on the line and say they stopped him. the real issue here is not, you know, that somehow there's been this abuse of the patriotic act because we've had the patriot act before. what the guardian newspaper basically reported on is that we've had an extension of an ongoing program under the obama administration and if there's a real point here, it's the hypocracy of president obama, the guy who said they shouldn't be doing this kind of thing now having to as president obama, not a critic and senator saying yes, you know what, to keep us safe, it's my first obligation. >> and they throws out the bush tax cuts. >> the problem from the left with what the president's doing is that the president, the president has to have an honest discussion with the american people as he started today by saying it's a balance between civil liberties and the war on terror. >> the president had a problem with gitmo, he had a problem with water boarding, and the patriot act. he had a problem with them.
