constitution that renounces ties with al qaeda, ends violence and is committed to protection f women and minorities in the country. >> how comforting. we're going to take the afghan taliban at their word? it's an interesting strategy. they still list mullah omar as the group's leader and the u.s. is offering a $10 million reward for information leading to his capture. we were warned about the dangers of the so-called obama doctrine. do you remember this? >> i will meet with not just our allies and our friends, but i will initiate tough diplomacy with our enemies. and that includes syria, iran, north korea, venezuela, i would meet with them, and i would meet

with them without preconditions. the notion that somehow not talking to countries is punishment to them, which has been the guiding diplomatic principle of this administration is ridiculous. >> i reserve the right as president of the united states to meet with anybody at the time and place of my choosing if i think it's going to keep america safe. >> as i mentioned earlier, peace talks at the taliban is not the only troubling story tonight, in syria, your hard earned tax dollars are soon going to be used to arm the anti-assad rebels with so-called light weapons. here's the problem, even the president is publicly admitting the most powerful fighters on the ground are supporters of al qaeda. watch this. >> one of the challenges that we have is that some of the most effective fighters within the opposition have been those who frankly are not particularly from the united states of america and arming them

willy-nilly is not a good recipe for meeting american interests over the long term. >> let's recap, in afghanistan, we're going to negotiate with the regime who shielded the terrorists who are responsible for 9/11. in syria, we're going to arm the next generation of terrorists, pretty incredible. joining me with reaction, michigan congressman mike rodgers. congressman, thanks for being with us. >> thanks for having me. >> i view the taliban as one of the most sadistic regimes in history, with their enforcement of sharia law. is this a good idea? >> i don't think so, and there hasn't been much consultation with congress about reopening the office in qatar and then recognizing them other than what we've read in the media, which is concerning enough. and think about this, sean. this is an organization, the taliban, who's closed in afghanistan over the last few months, over 500 children's schools. we can't have those kids getting educated. the majority of those are girls

schools, the same organization that just a few weeks ago poisoned little girls going to school to prove the point that they didn't believe that girls should be able to get an education. it's hard to understand why the president thinks that is the right cause of action with no preconditions about what that negotiation should even look like. including, by the way, supporting girls schools, and opening this dialogue up. i think it empowers all the wrong messages in afghanistan that says, hey, the americans are punching out, we don't really care what happens to the women there, we're going to negotiate, so we can check the box and go home, i think this could be a stain on our national character if we don't get a handle on this early on. >> i think he hit on something that's pretty important here. we've already given them a timetable for our leaving here. does this not put us in a position of weakness in terms of any negotiating power we might have? >> when you tell them what you're going to do, when you're going to leave, you absolutely

have empowered those who are seeking to do you harm. and we see that, i'm the chairman of the intelligence committee, we can see what the taliban is doing to react to that. we can see what al qaeda is doing in reaction to that, including talking about reclaiming certain parts of afghanistan because they believe that the focus now, all the command energy of our military is, how do we leave, not how do we make sure we win this fight. so you have taliban resurging, clearly a problem, and you have al qaeda talking about reclaiming territory in afghanistan. really, why that's important, sean, remember they had that safe haven in afghanistan, that's where they planned the 9/11 events. that's what's so concerning about what our policy is here, it doesn't seem to be connected with the reality on the ground. we all ought to be concerned about that. >> anyone can have compassion in syria for the humanitarian crisis. have you 80 to 100,000 people killed.

have you 4 million people displaced. who are the people, the rebels that we would be arming. are they not connected to al qaeda? >> well, here's the problem, that is a bad situation getting worse. and i think the president by trying to believe that that was just going to go away on its own has really created quite a problem here. you have every flavor of terrorist in the world high seems to be congregating in syria. they all want the chemical weapons, the advanced congressional weapons, anti-aircraft weapons and those kinds of things. what's concerning here is that we don't see a comprehensive plan being presented by the administration on how this would unfold and what america's end game. and that's important, the end game. i believe we have to find some friends there or we're going to be in real trouble if and when the assad regime falls and the mad scramble from some real letter bad actors that would threaten israel, southern

europe. sophisticated conventional weapons and chemical weapons. we haven't seen a plan yet that would allow me to come to a comfort level that we're on the right track. i'm willing to make hard and tough decisions, it has to be in america's interest. and it has to be very smart and long thought out. i just haven't seen that part yet. >> we have a newly elected president in iran. let me ask you about him, i looked back over his history, he was there in the late 70s and early 80s with the ayatollah khomeini. he was involved in the ruthless suppression of protesters in 1999 and invading nuclear inspections. obama said he believes there's a willingness to improve ties to the united states. is that something you believe? >> because, this was not an election, it was a selection. the supreme leader still picks the candidates that can actually run for office. and i doubt he's got to pick somebody to run for office that

is adamantly opposed to his views. listen, it fits the right narrative. it's a great pr thing for iran. they continue to develop nuclear weapons. clearly they're on that path. they're also aiding and abetting the strife in syria. we know that they've killed some 600, at least contributed to the death of 600 u.s. servicemen and women in iraq. they're committing problems all across the whole middle east. they're rising up this shiite versus sunni to their own best interest in places like syria and other places. they're creating huge problems right now. i can't find a redeeming quality in this individual that would allow us to come to the conclusion that they aren't bad actors creating lots of problems, not only for americans interests, but for the middle east and our european allies as well. this is a dangerous state that is getting more emboldened and more aggressive, i have seen no

soliciting prostitutes and having sex with minor. the former state employee says the agency launched an intimidation campaign to keep her from telling her story. they have law enforcement officers camp out in front of her house, harass her, children and attempt to incriminate herself, what's even more troubling, this is the second layer of allegations against the state department after a memo was released last week, indicating the agency had influenced, manipulated or called off investigations into the misconduct in the first place. why is this important to you? these federal employees all work for you, they should be held accountable for these actions. if the state department tried to cover up the allegations of money conduct what else could they be hiding. any attempt to quiet a whistle-blower is going to prevent people from coming forward in the future. >> i have a good question, where

is hillary clinton? where is hillary clinton in all of this. >> what difference does it make? >> exactly. have you the politicization of benghazi and the talking points situation, which she never got to come back and answer more questions to the committee. we have this whistle blower being harassed, questions about what was going on in belgium with security detail. piblly prostitution, potentially underaged people, and back to the question, where's hillary. she's setting up this apparent run for president, busy setting up a twitter account, maybe she ought to have a town hall meeting on twitter, answer some questions as to what happened in benghazi and why is this employee being intimidated and what do you know? >> where's hillary. i don't know who's asking that question. >> we're talking about sex with

minors and foreign nationals, they said the prostitution was indem indemic. and the drug use on top of it apparently they were on the same hotel as hillary. >> this is the state department. you're seeing what's going on in the obama administration government has gotten so big and so broad, we can spend the next five minutes talking about all the scandals. the bottom line is, the government has gotten so big, and so large, the main defense of everyone involved right now, government is so big that we can't possibly know what's going on. we can't possibly know this is going on in belgium. we can't possibly know that security detail is intimidating a whistle blower. we can't know anything. government's too big. >> what about hillary's involvement in benghazi. remember she did the ad against

obama? who was in the situation room? >> they didn't have any problem leaking that information by the way. we leaked that, s.e.a.l. team 6, and the 3:00 a.m. call is coming for hillary clinton and the american people want to know, what did you know when did you know it, and why can't you come forward for ten minutes, 15 minutes and answer a few questions. >> what did you think about her comment when she said, what difference does it make? what did you think about that? >> i thought, what's the whole purpose of the entire hearing here, the purpose of the meeting is, to figure out what it is that happened, how we can correct what took place. the whole -- one of the purposes of the committee, and the idea of checks and balances in our country is that there are people elected to find out the truth, and hold people accountable who

did either mistakenly or purposefully that need to be punished. >> you think of anybody better than dealing with scandals in the clintons? >> there are -- they are obviously pretty good at it, and they've been good at letting things roll off their back and continuing their pursuits in public life. i don't think this is going to be going away, obviously, benghazi is a total tragedy with people who had died and we don't have the answers there. but i think it's time for them to come clean. the american people are figuring it out, the president knows upside down, they know government is out of control, 62%, a poll came out today, saying people don't trust the government. and even you are abandoned the president at this point. >> the youth a big part of his base. >> i think the numbers on single women are changing. >> are you convinced hillary is running and she's going to run on the idea, let's make history twice? >> i don't know if i'm convinced

of it, but i'm convinced that they adore the spotlight enough they're going to keep playing the creeping -- creeping this play out to see where it goes, but, you know, this is more -- it's more on our shoulders to do the right thing and make sure that we're prepared with the candidate that can take her on and defeat her. >> how do the republicans balance having to get to the truth, which i think are important on benghazi, the irs, going after james rosen, lying to congress, not telling the truth to congress. how do you balance that with advancing your agenda? >> well, i mean, for one thing, i think that people have to continue to connect the dots and find out the truth as to what's happening. the american people are watching. this story is not over. i think there's a lot more to come, and there's a lot of people that have to answer serious questions, pick the scandal, as to what happened and when they knew it, and i think that we're going to see a lot more coming out.

but, you know, i think it's important for the people in charge and the house committee to do their job and get it done right. >> there is palpable anger among conservatives with the gang of 8 plan on immigration. real anger, and i'm in the camp, and i said this from the very beginning, we've got to control the borders first, every time we're promised tax increases versus spending cuts, you get the tax increase, you never get the spending cut. we're going to get the amnesty, but not the border security unless it's first. >> i think it's important everyone keeps in mind, the immigration system we have in place right now is a total disaster. it doesn't matter whether you're rand paul or marco rubio or lindsey graham. the one thing people agree with is, we do have a mess in our immigration system. that's number one. the other thing we agree on, there's no aur elling going on, as far as the fact that you have to have a secure border. if you don't have a secure border. >> it has to be first. >> understood, if you don't have

welcome hannity, my next guest has decided to leave the democratic party and join the gop. let's look at a few clips he released explaining this important decision. >> i wanted to take a moment to explain why i chose to become a republican. and also to explain why i don't think it was a bold decision at all. it is the right decision, not only for me, but for all my brothers and sisters in the black community. you see, in recent history, the democratic party has created the illusion that their agenda, their policies are what's best for black people. you see, at the heart of liberalism, is the idea that only a great and powerful big government can be the benefactor of social justice for all

americans. but the left is only concerned with one thing, control. and they disguise this control as charity. the idea that blacks, or anyone for that matter need the government to get ahead in life is despicable. i fell for initiatives and alliance have been sacrificed in exchange for our allegiance to overseas, who control us by making us dependent on them to be truly free is to be reliant on no one, other than the author of our destiny. these are the ideas at the core of the republican party. and it is it why i am a republican. >> joining me now, the man himself, the republican senator, state senator from the great state of louisiana. senator, welcome to the show, thanks for being with us. >> good evening, it's great to be here with you. >> i assume this was not made in haste, the idea might have been percolating inside of you for some time, is that accurate? >> yes, during the last couple

years, i've watched as the party of disappointment has moved further and further away from basic american values. away from the majority of louisiana voters. issues such as marriage, family, guns, prayer, spending. they've just moved away from where i am and where most louisiana ans are. >> you talk about your self-initiative and self-reliance being sacrificed and exchange to the allegiance of our overseers. i know that's going to get a lot of people angry. >> well, the truth is, that the policies of the democratic party, the party of disappointment, those policies have not worked. let's take welfare and food stamps, for example, those policies have not worked, they have not lifted our community out of poverty. poverty is worse today than it has been at any point in our 400

year history here. our education system are worse today than ever. those policies simply aren't working, and we become more and more involved in that system and more ingratiated to our overseers on the government plantation. >> you said at one point that the left is only concerned with one thing, and that's control. and they disguise this control as charity. do you think this is conscious on their part? or do you think they really think they're being compassionate and loving by offering government assistance to people? >> i think it's a matter of dollars and votes. i'll give you a perfect example. minority unemployment is sky high. this present administration is fully aware of that problem. they have not addressed the

problem. and they haven't addressed it, because our community is in their hip pocket. they don't need to count on us to vote for them all the time. at least that's the way it was in the past. we're changing that today many. >> if you look at voting democratics, 90% of the time, black americans vote for the democratic party, do you see that changing? >> i believe that it will change. i believe we've begun the process of change. as more of us get into the business of educating the community and showing them that we really -- these policies are not good for us, we really must do something else. something different. i think that more people will join me and those of us who are in the republican party now. it's a growing factor. >> senator, you've become a youtube viral sensation. i'm sure that you're aware that
