i am heather childers. thank you for starting your day with us. the top five stories making news at this hour. late last night a fun trip turns into a nightmare for dozens of bow scouts in new hampshire, a 23 -- 23 had electric shock burns during a massive thunderstorm. fire officials say the group was taking shelter under the canopy when lightening hit the canopy or the ground. none of the injuries are said to be life threatening. >> the mystery is deepening over where edward snowden is. it's believed the nsa leaker is still in moscow but could board a flight to cuba. secretary of state john cuba says russia and china aren't helping the u.s. but one former prosecutor says the state department should look in the mirror. >> there's a moment in time when this passes from the justice department to the state department. it becomes a matter of policy and it becomes a matter of

foreign relations. the justice department part of it i am sure was done well. the office of internal affairs does this every sipping el day in matters that are urgent and matters that aren't so urgent. at some point it becomes a state department problem. >> snowden is trying to escape extradition on espionage department. >> it took the whole house. that's how one woman described an explosion at a fert liedzer plant that left one worker dead. he was working on the silo when the blast happened knocking him off. he fell 175 feet. no word on what caused it. there are reports it was a grain dust explosion. 7 people were hurt including three children when a bus plowed into a house in massachusetts. the impact from that crash was so strong it knocked the home 7 feet off the foundation. a mom and three kids were inside that house two boys feet from where the bus hit the home.

an earl mroirng attack on the presidential palace in afghanistan. you can see the black smoke rising over kabul after nearly a dozen explosions and 15 minutes of gun battle rocked that area. it includes the u.s. embassy. it happened as reporters gathered for a news conference with president hamid karzai. millions in social security money going to dead people. it turns out that is the case. inspector general for the agency found $31 million in benefits given to more than 1500 people that are deceased. and to make matters worse the agency had death certificate information on each of those individuals in the government data base. >> heather. >> a second day of testimony in the george zimmerman trial. it is started to a dramatic start.

>> the berries are going to stain your teeth. one way to protect that is to eat the berries but rinse thoroughly afterwards. >> with a glass of water? >> anything that is going to have less in color. vinegar, anything with soy sauce, going to be high in staining, high in color, going to stain your teeth. >> the candy? >> the candy, pop sickles. if it's going to stain your tongue of course it's going to stain your teeth. >> let's go with the good stuff. >> apples, pine apples. these are going to increase the saliva which is going to naturally cause whitening or cleansing of the teeth. that is going to be great for us. cheese going to increase the protein, naturally increase protein in our mouth and teeth, create a healthy mouth. spinach, leafy vegetables, iron will decrease the
