we don't like it when it crashes. >> log on to fox&friends.com after the show. we're going to be eating more delicious food. >> what did you cut off? >> some sausage and burger, some ribs. . a new fight against global warming sparking worries about a new freeze on job creation. president obama launching his latest green initiative. this one clamping down on power companies. businesses and lawmakers are both sides of the aisle calling it a war on coal and on jobs. >> declaring a war on coal is tantamount to declaring a war on jobs. >> i should not have to be sitting here as a u.s. senator fighting my own president. it makes no sense to ruin our economy in the most delicate of times. >> the continuation of the war on coal will only make matters worse, putting thousands and

thousands of americans out of work. >> are they right? hi, everyone, i'm brenda buttner. this is "bulls & bears." let's get right to it. here they are, the bulls and bears this week, logan d. smith, jerry rightfield along with jerry glazer. larry, will the fight on global warming short-circuit the job market? >> it will raise costs for everyone in the form of higher electricity prices, it will be passed through to all of us. ultimately that will hurt jobs. and it is hypocritical because it is essentially going to shut down 300 coal-fired power plants without a comprehensive, long-term energy strategy to replace those plants and keep electricity flowing in our homes. that's why it's a problem. that's why it's going to hurt the economy. >> jamu? what do you think? >> we do not have to choose been
7:02 am
the health of our kids and the health of our economy. we know when we banned leaded fuel and we banned things that were bad for our kids, the toys they were playing with, it didn't kill the plastics any, it didn't kill the oil industry. it sound like what larry has said is he has a bad lack of faith in our american companies to innovate. i don't have that lack of faith. i know that small business owners and the ceos of walmart, ceo of honeywell, they believe in a clean energy economy, that we can fix climate change, protect our environment and have a strong economy. they don't have to be separate. >> well, gary, it's a pretty tepid job market as it is. is something like this really going to stall it? >> it's absolutely going to kill us and it's not going to kill any kids, as jehmu kind of talks about.
7:03 am
they've been in no vanovating f hundreds of years. let me read some of the stats, brenda, and i don't mean to be mundane, but there are certain points recently studied on president obama's attack on coal. first of all, we have 500 years of electricity in coal. so just attacking one of the cheapest energy sources we have. but employment falls by 500,000 jobs. manufacturing loses 280,000 jobs. a family of four's annual income drops by $1,000 a year. gdp decreases by 1.47 trillion. brenda, i could go on and on, but i'm sure others will make similar points. attacking this industry, which, by the way, has been innovating in terms of producing clean coal energy is absolutely ludicrous just by the numbers alone. >> well, jonas, there is a short term and long term. do you think this is a war on jobs? >> you don't attack -- the goal
7:04 am
is not to create jobs. unfortunately, yeah, you hurt job markets sometimes. i will say if we put out the old coal factory, so to say, with regulations, someone is going to have to build gas-fired power plants. in theory, it could create jobs, but it is a drag on the economy for them to dictate who is a winner and loser in the power game. it could be done a little better than that. if we just had higher taxes, we could consume less. and if they offset that energy with lower income taxes, that would be good for the job market and more efficient than raising revenue and taxing workers. currently there is no plan to do it that way, so it will be more of a drag on the economy. >> jonas says there is a possibility it could create jobs. but what do you think, is this a war on jobs? >> yeah, i think it's a war on jobs, and when you don't have a fact-based argument, you bring up more arguments. kids are dying, and that's how
7:05 am
you go off on an emotional argument. i don't know why the president is doing this right now. maybe it's to try to fulfill his legacy that he would have the oceans recede when he becomes president. but it was the senate vote on president clinton to get out of the protocol. there is a reason when president obama first took power, he could get health care passed without one single climate vote, but he couldn't get climate change. there is not an option right now. i would love to never drill oil again. there is not an option right now. this kills the golden goose. >> all right. what do you think about that, jehmu? >> well, first of all, this is going to be a long process with very specific and serious input from industry leaders. i listen to the fellows and i think they sound like people
7:06 am
back in the 1800s when the steam engine was going and they were sitting there saying, well, what are we going to do? we're taking business away from horse farmers. come on, guys. we have the ability to innovate, we have the ability to create new, better jobs from a clean energy economy. >> brenda, can i address that? >> yes, you certainly can. go ahead. >> the president back then was not attacking the steam engine industry. the steam engine industry slowly went out of business because of innovation. look, if there was something better out there that was cheaper, believe me, entrepreneurs would have effectively put coal out of business and we wouldn't need the president or congress to put coal out of business. let it evolve on it own. >> hold on, guys. i got to let larry get in there.
7:07 am
>> when we talk about a lack of long term energy strategy, domestic energy is part of the solution, not part of the problem. this is nothing about coal. this is about the railroads, the transport of coal. this is about all the jobs created in trucking and. it we haven't had a long-term energy plan for 35 years, and we know energy independence is right around the corner. it's finally within our sights. we need to open our eyes to it rather than fund special projects that have no return on investment and have yet to produce the jobs that the energy industry produces in this country. >> john? >> i think this administration would love to take us back to the horse and buggy. look, candidate obama in 2008 says he wants to put such a heavy punitive tax on coal plants that we will never build another one. his own climate adviser this week came out and said, yes, a
7:08 am
war on coal is exactly what we need. but you have to understand that gets us to that alternative energy future. windmills are great, solar power is great. it's not enough to power our country right now. >> if this was 1976, you would be saying the same thing about catalytic converters on cars. that was a burden on the consumer, they had to pay for it, yet our cities are clean. and if you go to mexico city in the summer, it's not like that, or beijing. there are some benefits beyond jobs to making your environment better. >> thanks, guys. that's got to be the last word. more war of words over who the irs was targeting. why, then, is the irs tagging anyone at all? that's at the bottom of the h r

hour. they're cheering for the passing of the immigration bill, but you won't be when you see the pork packed inside it. taxpayers get ready to squeal. vo: i've always thought the best part about this country is that we get to create our future. you get to take ownership of the choices you make. the person you become. i've been around long enough to recognize the people who are out there owning it. the ones getting involved and staying engaged. they're not sitting by as their life unfolds. and they're not afraid to question the path they're on. because the one question they never want to ask is

21-year-old andy pocter, reportedly drying of a gunshot wound. he is reportedly among seven people killed in violent protests the last few days. there are expected even more violent demonstrations against the government today. we take you back to "bulls & bears." for the latest headlines, log onto foxnews.com. here we go again. the senate passing its immigration reform bill chock full of porkulous goodies that have nothing to do with securing the border but all to do with winning votes. like 100 million for tourism that will help las vegas casinos. and something they're calling the hog kickback that will help the food processors. are these kickbacks kicking us more in debt? >> yes, it's a character flaw.
7:14 am
this is how you get a bill passed. you tell someone, i want a bill passed. okay, if you give me something for my fish hatchry in alaska, i will give you a bill. you use that money to put a fence around your neighbors, your neighbors may like that, but that is illegal. there is no difference with what these guys are doing in congress. this is stealing from the american people. i don't think if it's legal. you need to make it illegal. >> a lot of pork in there, jehmu. >> i slightly agree with john, yes, there is wasteful spending in this bill. does it take away from the enormous economic impact that immigration reform is going to have on our economy? not at all. does it secure our borders? absolutely. and while securing the borders, doubling the border patrol. hey, that's jobs.
7:15 am
adding 750 miles of fencing on the border, more jobs. but more importantly, immigrants fuel our economy. bringing these 11 million workers out of the shadows into the economy is going to be incredible for our gdp. they're forecast, but it's going to increase gdp up to 2%. that's something that the wasteful spending in there, i can say, okay, that's how congress works. sometimes you can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find you get what you need. >> gary buso, jehmu says the benefits, and the cost is not all that great in the pork. what do you say? >> i would argue, brenda, this is the ultimate lose-lose. forget how you feel about immigration, the fact is nobody has read the bill. so anyone like jehmu or me who is saying here are the negatives, it doesn't matter
7:16 am
because nobody read the bill. >> not true. >> you read the whole bill, jehmu? i doubt it. i won't put you on the spot, though, maybe you did. but the point is nobody in the senate read the bill before they passed it. as far as some of the benefits, the bulk of the border agents aren't even supposed to be higher since 2021. the wall can be not put up by authorization of secretary napolitano. as far as the cost, we don't know. brenda, there was $1.5 billion for stimulus. we don't know how much is in there. the whole point, it's another pork-laden thing. we don't know if it's going to work or not work. it probably won't work, like obamacare, now that we're finding that out. why don't we trash it and save a lot of money. >> john, isn't it a lot of
7:17 am
money? >> unfortunately, that's how things get done, so we almost have to ignore that people have to ask each other before they get it passed. unfortunately, in this case, and i'm not mad at the poor, this just seems like we're using technology from 3,000 years ago. today we have all kinds of ways to let people know, an i.d., there's got to be another high tech way than literally having an army at the border of the wall. that's how you would do it 50 years ago. and not only are. >> let's get back to the pig rather than the pork. you said it should be illegal? >> yes, it should be illegal. it's like a clep to maniac and
7:18 am
he just ends up here. this is not pork. this is a character flaw within congress. if i'm not going to vote for a bill, they gave me something sfor local skon stit went. you fuse to accept it. this is less about reform, this is about immigration spending our tax dollars. we are so far removed from immigration reform on here that it shows that $36 million of spending. snats will vote for anything when they give their money. your fourth of july plans will likely fry your wallets

we do the bad and good here on "bulls & bears" starting with the bad and finishing with the worst or something like that. john, you're first. in march you said spdr gold shares would be like fool's gold. will it rebound or is it time to run? >> i thought gold would be a safe haven. i think it still is. it's one of the safest place to put your money besides the new york stock market. i think it will rebound. >> so far apple is a rotten app apple, down near 25%. are you standing by it? >> i just bought some thursday, so i'm definitely standing by it. >> for the worst call in 2013, jonas, you said veriphone systems is where it's at. since then it's down 27%. still a believer? >> i was surprised because it's not risky a business moldel, bu i would stick with it. >> now to the best part, the fun part. you said krispy kreme doughnuts
