(applause) ♪ >> thank you. great audience here in new york. and thanks so much for coming and welcome to huckabee from the fox news studios in new york city. well, the extreme court has done it again. this week, they decided that the voters of california, nor god almighty himself was wise as they were. while i understand the legal nature, the affect was to ignore substantial number of voters in california who twice, twice affirmed the bibliical and historical law definition of marriage of one man and one

woman. ine if you think people of the same gender should marry, i would like to think that you feel a major cultural shift ought to be in the hans of the peopll who are supposed to hold ultimate authority under our government. ine in the decision of the doma, the legislation was passed overwhelmingly by both houses of congress in a bipartisan vote and signed by a democrat, president bill clinton and no matter people who voted for it have evolved and are now gaents it. put it back before the world's greatest body and people's house and see how it flies. same- sex marriage is newer than google and the ipod and the first nation to codify it into law doesn't do so until the year 2000. i am told i need to support the marriage of two people of the same gender. i am on the right side of

history because history is pretty long on marriage between a man and a woman and not so much for other versions. despite the frothing of the advocates to the contrary, i am not a homophobe or a hater, i. simple to believe that a marriage of one man and one woman is the only biej boij combination capable of creating the next generation, but in the context of committed relationship, it is the best context for children to learn how to replace their parents. if we are changing marriage to accommodate how people feel and what they do. we should release those incarcerated for practicing bigamy and frankly made all consensual dult behavior legal. prostitution and assisted suicide and drinking 16 ounce sodas in new york city. as much as i would love to be loved and admired by all. i can't defy the definition of marriage anymore than i defy the law of gravity. and i follow god in my christian commitment and my life and rules don't belong to me anymore. as for the matter of equality it is not equality but sameness. equality means worth and value and guarantee a right to vote or rent or buy a house or receive medical care. quality of worth doesn't create sameness. there are difference was between men and women. and votes of confidence nor supreme court can't change that. i will not pretend to understand women, but i know there is a difference. the court said in 1857 that black people were not fully human and the court was wrong. they said in 1962, we couldn't

after the doma decision i lost nothing nothing was taken away from me and taken away from my marriage and the commitment i have for my wife and what i gained was the ability to say gay and lesbian friends have an opportunity to experience what i experience and i feel it is beautiful and unifying. i can't speak intelligently. the law said people are entitled to equal protection and marriage is issue of protecting a unit from practicical things like unfair taxation and adoption rights and practicical things of that nature and the court said convolutedly in the doma decision, people are entitled to equal protection of their unionity regard it is in between. >> in order to do that one must have a legal definition of marriage that substantially changes the historical definition. >> that's right. >> ta ra, let me let you react

to that. your thoughts about you heard about the prop eight and defense of marriage act? >> well, i think the court just complicated the issue. i am with you governor. this is not equal protection under the law. you know, you can do that through domestic partnership and you don't have to redefine thousands of years of tradition defined marriage between man and a woman. it is a sanctity of marriage should be preserved in that respect. we can argue about where the government comes in and telling you who is you can and cannot marry. that is an argument to have. but it is not necessary to redefind marriage in order to get something they want which is tax benefits or access to visitiation. i don't think anybody has problem with loving who you want to love and if you have

contractual protection have that. but redefining marriage is unnecessary and not a good thing for this country. where do you draw the line? >> the president has been under fire for a number of scandals since the start of the second term. no longer is he immune from the late- night comics. jay leno commented this week. >> in middle of all of the scandals the irs ruled he can write off the first term as a total loss. (applause) >> all right tis not just the late night comedians that crack jokes earlier this week putin compared dealing with obama's administration request for the return of nsa whistle blower to shearing a squealing pig. that can't be good. and the question is obviously, are we at a point where we are

not getting the respect that we once got? i thought it would be so much better when president obama came and that's what he promised to usher in a now level of world cooperation. are we seeing that new era of respect and cooperation. >> let's think about that this. putin spits in our face. that's not working. and president obama went and bowed to our enemies and apologized for america was one of the first things he did. was an apology tour when he got elected the first term and we have a dead ambassador in libya and the libyan policy didn't work. he set artificial redlines in syria i don't think he is go there but he talked tough. what are we doing there? he is a failure and afghanistan is a mess and iraq is a mess. what foreign policy wins that this president the had.

talking about a recoverying economy and according to a new poll released by bank rate.com, three- quarters of americans are living paycheck to paycheck and don't have savings to cover six months of expenses. more than 20 percent have no savings at all. and the president this week said we have to work on climate change that most people believe will cost americans jobs. is this the right time to cost americans jobs? >> it is the right time to focus on climate change. that is a good question, sure. >> it is important and going to be expensive. and what is more expensive. retrofitting them with gills so we can breathe under water. at some point climate change will be amazingly expensive and we need to address that. and americans living paycheck to paycheck, that is sad. i don't think it is liberal or conservative. i think it is americans are

financially illiterate thing. they need to be encouraged to save more and spend less. example, when i go to work at night and come up to the guard shack and i wonder if i will get through. couple of weeks ago 160 men came up and were turned around and laid-off. >> josh, let me ask you about the coal mining industry and house member of the delegates. this is a potential for a huge economic impact on your state. what could happen if the president's words this week become the policy of america? >> governor, a large majority of the tax revenue of the state of west virginia come from the coal. essential services and repairs as a state are going to go down and we don't know how we will make the repairs. the economy of west virginia was built around coal. and they powered the united states of america for a long time. we are not sure what we will do at this point.

hopefully bring in new jobs, but if they put now restrictions on coal it hits the guys. people are not burning coal we can't sell and people wonder how they will feed their families. >> the president said it is a global initiative and not just the united states. hoo will request and negotiate and push for it to happen all over the world. does that give you comfort in west virginia that everyone will voluntarily jump up and quit using coal. they are driving forward and fighting to be a new super power and do what ever is economically successful to drive the countries forward. we here as americans shouldn't be worried about what is going on overseas. we should be worried about people like my cousins who were laid-off and just want to go back to work.

it is not just coal industry it is all industries. we want to go back to work. >> a lot of the folks in west virginia had to struggle because of the attacks on the coal industry and this can't be helpful and i am seeing things like your democratic senator former governor and friend of mine saying that the president declared war on his state of west virginia. what are you hearing from the democrats of west virginia about the president's policies? are others saying we are done with president obamaine though we are democrats as this would ruin our state? >> a lot of people have seen what the president is doing is destroying jobs and not creating jobs and putting more restrictions on the coal industry. and the president is supposed to create jobs and not destroy jobs and that's all he has accomplished. mark and josh, i want to thank you for being back with us. it is a pleasure to be with you.

passed immigration reform and set the path for citizenship for millions of imdprants who are here illegally and called for billions of dollars for the agents on the border of mexico. the bill may not make it all the way through the house. >> the house is not going to take up and vote on whatever the senate passes. we'll do our own bill, immigration reform has to be grounded in real border security. >> joining me is the president of the national immigration and customs enforce. chris kraen. thank you for being back with us again. >> thank you for having me on, governor. >> the senate passed, the gang of eight immigration bill that supposedly added border security. your union not really to say this is a great idea, why not? >> well, there are so many reasons, governor and i hope they will come out in the weeks and months to come.

the american public needs to know how bad this legislation is. 40 percent of the illegal allenes almost of our entire immigration problem is not even addressed by this bill. these are individuals that came here on visas and came in the united states illegally. it doesn't matter if we have 2 million border patrol they will not be able to stop the people who come here on visas and overstay the visas. this bill ignores the enforcement of 40 percent and half of our illegal immigration problem. >> chris, the difference between the border patrol agents who control the border itself and the immigration agents like yourself, the ice agents that deal with the immigrants once they cross the border. here is an important question. we hear about border security is going to be increased.

how much increase in the bill is directed to those of you whose job is to deal with the illegal imdprants that are already here and those who might yet come? >> we have 0 new officers and agents and the border patrol stands on the line and stands on the boarder and keep illegal immigration out at the border. in between, it is policed by ice agents and we have 5,000 ice agents, ice immigration officers and 50itates and guam and puerto rico trying to enforce our nation's immigration laws. we are completely overwhelmed. the los angeles police department has 10,000 police officers and we have 0 now officer in this bill. >> a lot of the burden is going to fall on you guys. did you communicate this to people like senator rubio and

others? if you did what kind of response did you get? >> we did communicate with senator rubio and met with him on two separate occasions and met with his staff on multiple occasions and they assured us in writing that there would be amendments to the bill that would provide for brr enforcement and shocked when wo talked to him about the problems in the field and how you know, the maul number of officers that we have to do the job, again they assured us it would happen in the legislation and it never happen. we continued to try to keep the lines of communication and they stopped communication with us and nothing was added to the bill. >> have you talked with members of the house and more optimistic that they will listen to the fact that there is a big issue. i can't believe you only have 5,000 agents for the entire united states of america. that is a shock. >> it is shocking, governor and

so much more is to be said. we have to police 30 million legal aliens in the united states who may commit crimes and be convicted and may need to be remove friday the united states because they violated their status here. we are talking on the house side. it is a day and night difference. folk it's house side have been working with us and there are two pieces of legislation out there. one from a democratic congressman in georgia and tray gowdy and they address the concerns that we have. they provide for ice officers for the interior of the united states and do important things like allow us to assist gang task forces and drug task forces in local communities and let us work with law enforcement and crack down on sex offenders and fraud and other aggravated

felonies. and people don't realize that the senate bill allows a path to citizenship for members of criminal street gangs and allows a path for citizenship for people who are convicted of three or more criminal offenses. it is a terrible bill and i am not sure if you are aware of this or not governor, the border patrol came out in opposition to the bill. ice is already in opposition and citizenship and immigration services, the organization that screens the visa applications for fraud and terrorist and criminal activities. they are opposed to this. and hundreds of sheriffs that came out in opposition including 80 percent of the sheriffs in north carolina and law enforcement in the nation. it is historic, the law enforcement opposition to the bill. nchris, it is always enlightening to have you. and appropriate the perspective

each weekday list to mikehuckabee.com. after the supreme court ruled in the defense of marriage act and california's prop eight that a if i weres traditional marriage were both unconstitutional. the president released a statement to the american people reassuring them that the ruling is not an attack on religious freedom and it is statements read and i quote. on a issue as sensitive as. this and based on deeply held beliefs and maintaining our nation's commitment to religious freedom is vital. how religious institutions define and constitute marriage is up to the institutions. think about the decision that applies to only sufficiently marriages changes that. i wish i could believe that mr. president. there are already laws against photographers and caterers and because of religious convicts will not participate in same-

sex marriage. there are churches who have decided that they can't host a same- sex wedding and if your record on this is similar to that of the obama care issue where you have said that religious businesses and religious people and institutions encluding religious hospitals have to provide for contraceptives and forms of abortion because that is the law, then i am afraid it is tough to believe that you will leave churches a alone and let them practice their faith as they believe and accept it. >> a vote on a texas bill that forces abortion clinics and ban abortions past 20 weeks was delayed after texas state senator wendy davis filibustered for 13 hours. texas governor rick perry was not happy about it and called for law makers to come back for july 1st for a special session

and the president is not out a tweet in support of davis in the filibuster. he said something special is happening in austin tonight. stand with wendy. >> mr. president i don't know if you realize what was in the bill. dan patrick, a state senator was a sponsor and one of the elements was that it required that if a person was going to have an abortion it made sure the woman in the abortion clinic anyhow she was going to a clinic that had the same kind of medical care and capacity as would be and other surgical center in the state. in other words because abortion is a surgical procedure wouldn't it be in the interest of women's health to make sure if something went wrong there was a basic fundmental equipment to take care of that mother? is abortion so important that we don't care about the mother and by the way, to protect a baby,
