2:00 am
taken into hospital. what everybody is kind of doing now and the media pack right outside st. mary's hospital. the biggest media scene i've seen in a long time. and so far no news, but that's good news, apparently. >> all right, so, she's in the wing of the hospital who the gynecologist came out of retirement for this occasion. all indications that everything is okay in there. she has been there for several hours. is it the early stages of labor or is she past that? do we know? >> it's not the easiest time. certainly not the most glamorous time as we all know. i think what is important, actually, just the mechanics of what has gone on before she arrived at the hospital. late last night all of her things were taken over there via one of the royal.
2:01 am
everything was set in place. she didn't do particularly well yesterday. but didn't feel particularly well. what we had was a very, very hot day here in london and last night around 2:00 a.m. the most horrific thunderstorms across central of london. maybe that's an omen and that could have set her off. by 6:00 a.m., she was straight off to the hospital. >> neil, two big questions everyone wants to know. the sex of the baby. are we going to have a princess or a prince and the name. do you have hints on either one of those? >> well, again, what is interesting is that they have to have four names. it's basically royal skcripture. i bet for a boy on george and if a girl i see a victoria in there because we're talking queen victoria because i think it's a good -- it's a name that has come back into fashion, as i'm
2:02 am
sure you'll ladies will agree. as kate herself has said, as long as the baby is healthy both her and william will be ecstatic. bright sunshine what a fabulous way to start a monday. >> that's for sure. a strategy in place for announcing the information. it'soing to come possibly in three steps. first the announcement of whether it's a boy or a fwugirld then possibly a second announcement with that as they did with prince william indicating he has blue eyes or some other details and at some point this morning we expect, if everything goes well, to see the baby? >> that's right. now, may seem rather old-fashioned to people around the world the way they do this, the moment that the baby is born, a piece of white paper comes out and given to a waiting black cab, a black car.
2:03 am
that is sped across town back to bucking hm palace where the queen will read the details first. the next ten minutes after that, an artist easel will be put up and that's when the rest of the public can take a read of exactly the details. as the day folds we get details of hair color, weight and that kind of thing. kind of a frenzy and fantastic to find this out. the picture, the moment that everybody is waiting for is the most infamous picture when they emerged from the hospital with their big bundle of joy. >> tradition changing just a little bit because on top of that easel we just showed video of where it will be announced, they apparently plan to announce it right after on twitter. things definitely changing there. i want to go back, neil, and ask
2:04 am
you about succession. rules have changed. whether it is a boy or a girl, they will be third in line to the throne. >> yeah, third in line to the throne. basically prince harry, you're out. still very eligible, though. still not married. i would definitely get in there. i think that's an interesting. historical fact, as well. obviously, this is the first time this has happened. when you reflect on something like this, you have to look at the sort of the big event, as it were, of the historical meaning. whatever sex instantly becomes third in line to the throne. i think, also, a little timeout and think about prince charles who becomes a grandfather because a very momentous occasion. when you look at the job and the succession line. like people are thinking william and his child. >> you mentioned prince harry. where is he right now?
2:05 am
how close by are other family members to the scene? >> well, the queen is in buckingham palace. we're not quite sure where prince philip is, harry is down at kensington palace. quite a lot of family members are around. princess anne has her own hands full because her daughter is expecting a baby right now. they're playing it rather low key because this is william and kate's moment. once the baby is born and they go back to buckingham palace there is a small celebration and the queen gets involved and then the more formal portraits set up in the pictures and that's what they know the world wants to see. it's our traditions and the bottom line is they know what they have to do to give the public the show. >> neil sean our royal watcher, thank you so much for joining us. >> pleasure, you take care,
2:06 am
girls. >> you, too. right now let's go to fox news london correspondent with the latest from her perspective this morning. >> hi, i'm outside the wing and just so many people here and so anxious for the news. for the last three weeks a massive press and now we have all sorts of curious onlookers and members of the public taking pictures of the action over here. the last few days the papers have been full of comic strips. basically, storks delivering curry to induce labor because such a period of uncertainty and now speculation of the due date and all of that is over. we're just waiting here for news. we will only know when the baby is born when we see a member from the household staff leave
2:07 am
under police escort. he will have signed birth announcement with him and it will be posted on the easel that neil shaup was talking about. a way they continue tradition. the duchess went into labor predawn, 5:00 or 5:30 this morning. she was spotted entering a side wing of st. mary's hospital. it's not clear whether or not paparazzi managed to get a shot of that. kensington palace confirmed she was in the early stages of labor two and a half hours ago. we don't know what stage she is in now. back to you in new york. >> thank you. and now to some of your other head h 0000s. police say 35-year-old michael madison is a registered sex offender who admitted to
2:08 am
having a fascination with serial killers. this as volunteers hunt for more bodies. the police chief is warning searchers to be prepared to find one or two more victims. >> basically the information we also received from him just makes us think that it's a little more to it and we want to be sure the best we can. so, we're going to search as many of the surrounding areas as we can. >> after a day-long search, no more information is found. a german company that built cars for the ride said it is safe, but sending inspectors to find out what went wrong. rosy esparza fell to her death at six flags over texas. the company said it never had problems with car safety bars over the past 0 years. meanwhile her son is speaking out about the tragedy on facebook. he wrote his mother's death is
