you can see the a a rp, and political ally of the president out trying to rekraut seniors to get on food stamps. there is a big push on the left and by the president's supporters to get people enrolled in government programs to reduce the degree of economic uncertainty. they say they can expand the safety net and have people feel more comfortable. >> there is bad news in the speck rum. they show in recent years all kinds of trouble up for whites. that actually, the gap in the races with tough economic nows has closed up. and more whites are experiencing tough economic times as well. and they are less optimistic getting out of the situation or the economy is going to improve, they don't so it. >> it is a searring debate and where does the party's future

lie? there is a belief for this disaffected voters and white voters and those who are in states liko ohio and michigan and pennsylvania, there is a place to go for the republican party and more populs and connecting people who are distrustful of washington and big business and roaching out to those folks and say they will be the party that represents and helps those voters and every year in the economic climate create more of those voters and so maybe there is something to that? >> it is noted that 36 percent of the noncollege whites turned out to vote for president obama last november. and the worst performance among the group since ronald reagan's landslide victory? >> they were not enthussed about romney. and that is for the republicans, there is a new liberitarian

we can see incredible amounts of rape in a short period of time in big cities like philadelphia and north and west of the charlotte area on saturday. step inches of rain in a matter of hours. looking at philadelphia, again, the bulk of the rain coming in throw hours, they received over eight inches and that not only sets a daily record, but they have the wettest july on record and parts of new jersey receiving seven inches of rain and four inches in mount laurel, new jersey. it is unfortunately an ongoing situation. there will be a front that brings the potential for showers and thunderstorms and heavy downpours. but flooding rainfall possibilities in the central u.s. and including places like missouri and kansas. they could see 4 or 5 or 6 inches of rainfall in a short period of time. they need the rain but not so much in a short period of time that could cause massive

flooding. and also talking about the tropics. this is an area of disturbed weather in the pacific that could be a next storm. and tropical storm flossy will be going to hawaii and will be a minimal tropical storm. the terrain is so mountainous, we'll deal with 4- 8 inches of rainfall. this storm will continue to press toward the west and fall apart in the next several hours. but to have a tropical storm making landfall in hawaii, it doesn't happen very often. it is historic. and we have tropical storm warnings in act for the big island and a possibility of flooding because of all of the mountainous terrain. and we'll keep an eye on the remmants of dorian in the atlantic. that could regenerate and so

we have seen no signs of protest in all in chicago. they are happening in new york city. they are being organized by fast-food forward whose twitter slogan is no one can survive on 7.25. and the big push to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour. they are calling for a wage increase. most fast-food restaurant rely on slim margins and can't afford to double employee's pay. they have a full- page ad, in usa today seaing the labor unions should stop and think about the acts their demand would be on the employees they claim to represent. $15 minimum wage would force

fox news is out of washington where we are awaiting the start of the most significant middle east peace talks in years. a team of israeli and palestinian negotiators arriving in d.c. today for the first direct talks in three years. senior white house foreign affairs correspondent wendel guller joins us live from the state department with more on what they will be tackling during these talks. hello, wendel. >> hello, shannon. they are going through the so-called final status issues. borders within israeli security, palestinian refugees. the goal is to deal with them over the next nine months. though officials say there is no deadline.
