market and it's being did krimm discriminatory. >> no lemons in the next segment. nea neil, take it away. >> if the irs is a phony scandal, then why is it so messy? hi, everyone. i'm neil cavuto. >> we've seen political posturing and phony scandals. >> well, how about an endless parade of new revelations involving the very same scandal like this one at the irs. e-mails were released this week suggesting that lois werner may
7:31 am
have been sharing that information. so is the white house keeping this up because it's afraid more will keep coming up. i do want to thank my buddy charles for filling in the past couple of weeks. i would told i could take off a couple of more weeks but i got back here as fast as my fast little heinie could get me. let me pick apart what the president is picking apart here because he's more or less saying, phony, sham, nothing to it, but at the same time we're getting more and more data and info and stuff that comes out that paints quite the opposite. >> it paints quite the opposite. by the way, we didn't watch the parade because some of us were on vacation in africa. some of us were playing golf. the fact of the matter that the
7:32 am
initial policy the president gave was insincere. it just says something about the system, the process, that he won't let it play out, he won't acknowledge it. it's all about deflection, but i think this is the wrong path he's gone down. he really should have a more honest discussion about this. >> ben stein? >> it keeps reminding me of ron ziegler calling watergate a third rate burglary. obviously there's something there, systematic errors going on. he can keep calling it phony. the news can cover up his heinie but not everyone. fox will go after him and others and perhaps this whole scope will come out. by the way, i want to give you another related scandal or what's brewing to be trouble in the case of benghazi. now cnn doing that, but i
7:33 am
digress. what do you make of this? it's in your interest to say this scandal if you want to call it that is phony because then you're giving more power to the irs would be it. >> absolutely. and part of what was going on here was that the white house was using the federal election commission to target a specific conservative group. it was the american issues project and now we find out that the federal election commission or people there were in touch with the woman at the irs who's overseeing the conservative targeting within that agency. so, again, not only does it now smell bad at the irs. that stench is now moving from one government organization to another. and, again, how do you fight it off if you're in the white house today. you say -- you talk down to people and you belittle them and say there's nothing here. let me be clear as the president often always says. you don't know what you're
quote
7:34 am
talking about. move on. is it working? no, it is not. >> but it was the white house itself when it first erupted that it was serious enough to warrant investigation. the president said, quote/unquote, we'll get to the bottom of this because it can never happen again and then he stan was a kid when watergate broke but it wasn't -- it was woodward and bernstein but then it was everybody. >> us that with a republican president. >> i tell you, that's the scary part. this really does underscore the sort of media bias. the good thing is there are other outlets out there. the oth it was just a couple. the main strooechl media holds the sway. most tv networks in america get their talking points from the new york times. that's one of the problem with this story. it's hard to pick up steam when
7:35 am
the establishment won't go after the president over something that's really sleazy. i mean this smells really bad whether you're a republican. suppose you're a republican and he does the same thing. you set the press department that this president can get away with it. other presidents can get away with it as well. >> julie, by the way, if you'll just pipe down. >> i'm biding my time. i'm waiting for you to get it out of your system. >> do you think the irs is indeed a scandal or the revelations that are coming to light? >> i think what happens is the irs is a scandal. i have no evidence that it reached the white house or barack obama or anybody in his inner circle told people to go do this. they're jumping to conclusions without any evidence. >> that's what reporters are supposed to do. >> let her in. >> you're right. you're right. and think fox news has done a very good job of looking at it but so far i see no evidence that this has emanated from the white house. >> you do think there's a
7:36 am
scandal. >> there are two things here. one is i'd like to get to the bottom of what happened. and, two -- >> do you really? >> i do. no, i really do. to the point where i said many times. >> are your fingers crossed, julie? >> no, my fingers are not crossed that we should have independent processing. the other issue i think some people are missing and the issue that i think we really need to focus on is a lot of these groups, both democrats and republicans completely abuse the irs tax code where they're imposing it. >> that's different than going after one. >> go after both. >> here's the scary thing. i red a lot of books about watergate. they put a couple of things together. they said this reeks of
7:37 am
executive overstep and smells too bad. that is the scariest thing. they're not covering it incrementally either. >> but you and i know that this station that's covering it extensively have incredible reporters that have been digging and digging and digging -- have they done anything though? not yet. >> it took over a year for them to get anything on nixon himself. it took over a year to get -- >> but think of the coverage. >> the executive branch was not brought in right away. >> think of the coverage. if you remember the coverage back then, it was very incremental. i know when you cover a story like this, you cover it incrementally before you get to the top. >> the bottom line, back to the
7:38 am
money possible issues here, the irs is going to be releasing it, handling over financial parts of it. obviously the imdwrags, democrats in general supporting to health care law are not going to want to see the irs dragged through the mud because it's going to slow the process down and slow the irs from controlling it. so they have a vested interest not to pursue this. >> billions and billions of dollars are going to go into building an army, a fresh new army of the irs who will go after people, individuals, small businesses, and you know what? the small amount of -- i think the guy in charge of the irs says he's not interested. >> i'm for even excluding obama care and increasing power at the agency. i'm worried about abuse of people at an organization that can ruin someone's life financially and otherwise. that's the power there. the fact that there's a feud
7:39 am
going on, we need some answers and this is not going away. >> this is coming from the white house. that makes it more frightening. >> we should have known. i would know this. it's always in all cap letters. that to me is a sign. >> bigger than a crayola. >> that's a sign you've got a monster on your hands. >> what's with all cap letters. should lawmakers look to hike taxes on the nation? look no further than what tax hikes did to detroit. the forbes gang on top of that. first from getting pat-downs to getting a shakedown. why tsa already has travelers flying off the hook and calling for the agency to just fly away.
7:43 am
these are the same threats that were cited for the same departments to close embassies and the consulates in the muslim countries. americans traveling overseas are urged to take special precautions. they list other tourist sites as possible danger zones. they're formally endorsing the country's next president. rah hani won back in jeune promising to open up the country and end its isolation. the new president with the lock standing dispute with the west will take the oath of ought in the parliament. that will happen tomorrow. i'm jamie colby. now back to fox news. >> when they're not patting you down, they're up to no good. there's a new report out saying they're exposing a number of
7:44 am
workers who are doing everything from sleeping on the job to stealing lap tapps. one stole 80 in a year. t touche. wow. >> there was a guy who had a real good operation going on, him and his wife. >> we try not to say that. >> the reason i say that -- >> the new revelation that some of our greatest fears are actually coming true is amazing. it's absolutely amazinamazing. i don't know if you'd see it if it was run by a private company. a private company can also be replaced. a unionized tsa is like a union. it's hard to make them go away. >> a lot of private companies have unions.
7:45 am
you would want a private company without a union. >> absolutely. >> a lot of small companies sleep on the job, slack off, get caught, hopefully they get punish. that's what this report is about. i have no problem with the tsa. we nationalized this industry because, well, 9/11 happened. >> right. >> president bush did that. that's why we did it. hopefully we did it. i personally love tsa workers. >> whatever makes you happy. >> i can understand -- i see it as a boring job. i take nothing away from the agents. if you had to all day -- i mean you'd go nuts. it's as simple as that. >> i'm with jane. i love the tsa. i travel constantly. some get jets when they go to speak. i have to fly air. >> if it's only delayed but it's
7:46 am
rerouted. >> some of us get to go on private jets and some of us have to fly commercial. >> you don't mind the whole tsa process? >> i think they're great. i think they're great. >> i do too. i have to say i have hflown a lt lately and they're great at their job. >> great? >> yes. they do great job. >> they're not great. on their best day, they're maybe good. they're not great. maybe it's a lousy job that you've got to pat people down for hours but they are not great. there's nothing great about them. >> i'm confused. wi was the flying experience so much more back in the '90s? it all stinks. no one wants to do it but you do it to stay safe. >> julie, to be fair, the gist of that report is they were waving their friends and family in so they were exposing us -- by the way, if i working there
7:47 am
and i was waving my family in, be very afraid. i know my family. >> san francisco has privatized. they've outsourced it. >> how are they doing? >> exactly the same as the tsa. it's the same thing. the moral of the story is the whole thing stinks. >> look. i know that the bottom line is you go to the post office and you see how slow the work is. there's a certain mentality that comes along with the notion that you cannot lose your job even if it's a boring job. >> in my experience month after month with the tsa is not that with the postal service and the government. >> i love the postal service too. >> you know, ben, by the way. you're a celebrity, loved on all sides. when you show up in a line, a, i bet you're brought to the front of it and, b, they make you feel great. you are a star and they make you feel universally great.
7:48 am
>> i'm not a star. i have a lot of hassles because i bring so much stuff and they don't ever wave me to the front of the line. >> you're lying. >> there are incredibly wonderful people at the tsa. >> i was at the san francisco airport a few years ago. do you know who they waved in? cindy sheehan. the point of the story is -- >> who is she? >> exactly. >> you're making my point. what are you doing? you're making the point that they let in certain people. >> no, no, no. this is privatizinprivatizing, workers. >> it could have been charlie sheen. >> there was a female tsa agent at laguardia apd was in a bad mood. she looked at me and said you look grumpy, can i have a hug. >> i would be suspicious. >> you know, maybe they're doing one of those pat-downs.
7:49 am
>> i hope. >> just be leery of the airport by the way. >> exactly. >> if you're me, it's going to be a long day. you might enjoy it, but it's going to be a long day. well, it would be like me giving you diet and workout tips. not that you would trust them. now the government is going to teach you how to behave and save. a quarter million tweeters musicare tweeting.eamed. and 900 million dollars are changing hands online. that's why the internet needs a new kind of server. one that's 80% smaller. uses 89% less energy. and costs 77% less. it's called hp moonshot. and it's giving the internet the room it needs to grow. this ...is going to be big. it's time to build a better enterprise. together.
