>> and there is a new twist to the sensational and unsolved killing haunting america for 17 years. a judge will release the grand jury indictment against john and patsy ramsey. the six year old beauty queen whose body was found blufrjioned and strangled on christmas morning and what remained a secret. the grand jury indicted it is ramsey in the daughter's death in 1999, but the then da declined to pursue a case against the couple. our next guest believes that there is something revealing in the indictment papers. he successfully sued to get it released. charlesy brennan is with us. >> charlie, why after all of these years you pressed so hard to see the indictment against the ramseys? >> the main reason i pursued it.

in a case that is plagued by mystery and misinformation and a left fogginess around so many central developments. this is one thing that after years of reporting work and developing sources, i was able to establish really did happen. and in october of 1999, the eight women and four men who made up the grand jury returned an indictment and charged john and patsy ramsey of child abuse and death. i nailed the story down and published on january of this year. >> what dow think you will learn when you see the indictment? >> we don't know what we will see. the judge indicated he will release 18 pages of grand jury

prosecuted or delivered to a judge or made public and the case is old and closed, the public has a right to. it and so the reporter you just interviewed actually filed the appropriate documents and cited the appropriate statute and the judge who himself has not seen the grand jury indictment made the appropriate decision under colorado law. this is a head scratcher. the grand jury is under the control of a prosecutor. remember there is no judge there or defense council or defendant. it is just the prosecutor and grand jurors and whatever the prosecutor wants to bring in. they only hear what the prosecutor wants them to hear and attack votes that the prosecutor wants them to take and how and why they could have voted to indict the ramsey without the prosecutor wanting it to happen? we don't know. >> very curious and very quickly judge, why wont they release the
