we'll lower your premiums. if you like your health care plan you'll be able to keep your health care plan, period. if you like your doctor, you'll be able to keep your doctor. >> not one bit of that is true and it never was. the reporters are no longer accepting it as fact. if the republicans will focus less on each other and more on the broken trust of president obama with the american people there's some real opportunity here. just remind people of what the president has promised. we don't even have to tell people his promises were as reliable as a pup tent in a tornado. they'll hear the promises and know their own circumstances. in most situations the only winner in a divorce is the lawyer. divorcing this president from the media and comedians is a good thing and it's long overdue.

[ applause ] my first guest has been asking questions of jay carney about the obama glitches. getting answers hasn't been easy. >> is she the quarterback for these mistakes. is the hss secretary responsible? is the president responsible? who is responsible? >> the president spoke clearly about he's unsatisfied. >> is he responsible? >> this is on us. that goes from the president on down. >> please welcome fox chief white house correspondent ed henry. it's great to have you. >> glad to be on. i feel like a pup tent in a tornado. i've never heard that. >> it doesn't end well.

this website launch hasn't ended well. do you think that it's typical that it's always this c contentious? >> there's a different occupant of the oval office and a lot of people don't seem willing to challenge power. i did it at cnn with bush and i felt like i had a lot more people challenging. she thought i took president bush on just as hard as i take president obama on. it's not about me. i think it's about the press in general. we've got to all do our jobs. it's not about taking anybody on because they're a democrat or republican. it's about challenging authority and power. >> it does seem like recently the press corp. has said we

haven't been given the transparency and openness. maybe i'm seeing it from partisan viewpoint but are reporters getting answers? >> i think there's been a lot of pressing. i think you played those clips. there's a wide variety of reporters are saying this is not in terms of how it was sold. i think there are a lot of reporters are saying who is responsible for it. the white house continues to say no monday morning quarterbacking because they don't want to look back because they don't want us to find the answers. it's our job to keep pressing whether they give the answers today or tomorrow. it should also be said in the long run this law may work out for the president. they think his legacy will be secure. millions of people don't have insurance now will have it. we have to demand answers about how much will that cost to make sure they have insurance. how the president sold it, is that all going to work out. look, i think you can challenge

authority. you can challenge people in power without being partisan and just get the facts. >> recently, you pressed hard to get information. when did the president know about the impending train wreck? >> there are people who want to get it done quickly. >> the president is getting it done today. >> why won't you tell us what day he learned? >> when the president found out he asked his lawyers and the lmb to get together on a solution. we expect a solution today. this is not that complicated. i know you're trying to make a partisan issue out of it. >> nice try. you won't tell us when the president learned. if he learned last tuesday or the day before. >> when he learned about it he asked for directed those who work for him to find a solution. we expect a solution today. >> that was about the benefits. >> military death benefits.

that was a basic question. jay carney said the president is outraged and he wants to fix it. he wants to get it done. i said when did he find out about it. he would never answer that question. he said you're trying to make this partisan. it's a simple fact. we report. you decide. >> because you are at fox news people decide that everybody is as opinionated as guys like me. i know there's a difference between the news side and programming side. do you feel the white house is tougher on you than cheryl at kinson if cbs. >> they've been tough on cheryl and jonathan. regardless of whether they work at abc or cbs, they've been asking tough questions. cheryl has been leading a lot of tough questions about bengahzi.

unfortunately, it's what uniform are you wearing. are you wearing the fox uniform? when reporters will ask the tough questions they don't get the you're trying make this partisan. you can look at the size of our audience. more important the ratings or anything like that no matter what network you're at, no matter whether there's a democrat or republican in the white house, we have to challenge people in power. we have to challenge people in authority and get the answer to basic questions. if viewers think that question went too far, fine we'll hear about it. >> that's what the reporters are there for. ask there anything that you wish the american viewing public knew about your job sitting there in

the white house? >> all i would say is sometimes people say you travel so far, and i do. that's tough sometimes because you're not with your family. i am so darn lucky not just to be at fox but to be covering the president of the united states. this president and president bush as well. we're so darn lucky. we got this cool job. people see us on tv and think we're hot stuff or something. we're doing a job like everybody else who is watching us all around the country, all around the world. i'm honored and privileged to be doing it. i see airports say thanks for asking the tough questions, that means a lot to me. >> great to have you. ed henry. coming up, it's remarkable story of how a high school student who was bullied and the efforts of her mother and friends helped her fight back. you don't want to miss this. we'll be right back.

we've heard way too many stories about bullying that have made headlines but for all the wrong reasons. here's story that gives us hope. it can high school junior was born with a brain injury and it causes her to have seizures. over the past eight months she's been the victim of some brutal online bullying. here is one example of how viciouses the texts were. this one says, shae is so annoying but cute. i want to do more than just kiss her. i want to rape her and kill her and that will make sure she goes away for good. her mother set up facebook page to raise wareness about what her

daughter is going through. the page has received over 75,000 likes and word spread quickly. over the last couple of weeks her school football games have been packed with supporters including students from the rival schools and they are all wearing i'm with shea t-shirts and carrying banners. joining me is shea and her mother. thanks so much for being here. a few days ago some of the kids in the district organized a green out during the football game. it was amazing. all these t-shirts like the one you're wearing. i want to know how did it make you feel when the students stood with you. >> it helped me through a lot of this because i when saw people just out there wearing my

t-shirts, supporting me i felt good because they are really nice people. i know that. for them supporting me means so much to me and how this makes a whole lot because -- >> you're doing great. let me ask you this. how does it make you feel and since this is happened, you've stepped forward. have those messages that were so hurtful, have they stopped? >> they have stopped. i'm very grateful for that.

[ applause ] >> that's beautiful. what do you want to say to the kids who said those horrible things? >> you may not be watching this tv show or you may be staring at me at school and thinking well, she she's not pretty or she's not popular so we're going to dislike her. we're going to put her in this e unpopular kid group well, that's all right. that's all right. >> you know something. i think you're very pretty and i think you're a remarkable young lady to have the courage to do what you're doing and not letting this just destroy you. when i see the horrible things that have happened to your daughter, what has the school done? that concerns me. have they stepped up and been supportive of shea?

>> they're words are trying to be. i wish they would do a whole lot more. i wish there were assemblies. i wish we had a parent meeting to let parents know about these apps their kids are using. the school hasn't done as much as i would like them to. >> what would you like to see happen to the people who have done the bullying. i read that and i'm thinking i'm an adult. i've been through 20 years of politics and some of that is so over the top. this is the kind of thing, i don't care who you are, that hurts. >> they needs to be brought to justice. i don't know if our justice is prepared for what this is. bullying, this isn't i took your lunch money. this is a hate crime. a lot of these messages is you need to have a seizure and die. they attacked me in the text

messages for giving birth. if their a minor, i would like their parents have some sort of punishment or community service. if this person is an adult that's doing this or these people, they need to be brought to justice and community service working with special needs children might open their eyes about what shea has to suffer through daily. >> let me tell you something, you have opened all of our eyes to not only how terrible these yes to what a to you but you he beautiful person you are. i want you to know i'm with shea too. >> thank you. >> i think the whole country is. god bless you. thanks so much for being here. coming up, we're going to talk to panel of folk who is have been effected by bullying including a teacher, a singer who is raising awareness through

at the age of 13. that was after years of being bullied in person as well as online. you just saw this powerful story

of shea. what a moving story this is. when you see that, do you wonder if ryan, your son had the support that shea is now getting from her classmates and friends, would his life have turned out differently. >> absolutely. facebook wasn't around when this happened to my son. this is the positive use of social media and what her mom did is wonderful. clearly shea is a beautiful girl. i think it's about jealousy. it's heartbreaking. >> it really is. my heart goes out to you because the chapter in your life didn't end like that. bryan let me ask you this. from the time you were 12 you were the object of intense bullying. what did it do to you, your self-esteem? >> being 12 years old you're

coming into middle school. you're starting to try to find your way and kind of be in your own element. when something like that happens at such a early time it's detrimental to you. it's hard to describe. especially when the rumor spreads around the whole school. you feel like you're all alone. you feel like your friends are laughing at you behind your back. it's hard to dig your way out of it. >> did you ever think about taking your life like ryan did? >> i never did. it never got to that point. it was back before facebook and it was just more the chat rooms and face-to-face. it never drove me that far. it's very unfortunate. >> as a teacher you tell your students what you went through. it's a way to help them learn

and teach them something about life. when you experienced it, some people told you fight back. just go back and give them everything you got. that's not your message. what do you tell the kids in your school who experience bullying? >> my students are shocked to hear when i was struck in the face that i didn't retaliate. my feelings are that there's so many instances in the schools where we can retaliate in a violent way but what will our schools be like if we do that. all that's proving is who is the stronger person. it's not getting to the root of the problem. what we need to do is start teaching our kids kindness and learning tolerance. >> if a kid is bullied at school, what do they do? if they don't strike back, do they tell their parents, a police officer? what would you recommend to students that would be way that doesn't get them in more trouble and make the bullying worse?

>> exactly. that was a concern of mine. i was afraid to tell someone. i addressed it in my own way. that approach worked for me. i think they need to tell an adult. they need to know we're there and we care. there are policies in place to address it. i also think the bystanders need to step up to the plate. in schools it's something like 67% of people are bullied, a victim or a bystander. everyone is touched by this. most kids are afraid to say something. s >> john, what would you stay to parents? if you could relive it but share with other parents, what's the advice? >> one advice is the mistake that we made is we did not go into the school because he did not want us to. he was afraid that would make it worse. i have to be fair to ryan's school. i can't blame them completely

because we didn't go in. we should have sat down and said my son is being bullied but he's afraid there will be retaliation. how do we address the problem without that effect? schools are getting better at this. they used to do something like conflict resolution where they bring the two in for fake apology session. you need to address the behavior problem. you need go after the bystanders. there's three types. the ones friends of the victim, the ones somewhere in between and the friends of the bully. we need go after that group. the ones that are friends with the bully. they have the most influence to get their friend to stop. kids listen to kids much more quickly than adults. if you can get those bystanders to step up to their friend, it will make a lot of progress with that problem.

>> i think that's a great suggestion. the key i hear from all of you and i couldn't concur more is that it's incumbent upon parents to say not only should you not be a bully but if you see it, you have to step in. that's part of what it is to be a responsible young person, a responsible citizen. bryan, we'll get to see you later when you preview your song for us. thank you very much. i appreciate your candor and being with us today. democrat in congress says the excuse for the obama care online glitches are becoming a thorn in her side. harry reid says he knows that you really want to pay more taxes. my reaction to the quotes of the week is next. whatever business you're in, that's the business we're in. with premium service like one of the best on-time delivery records and a low claims ratio,

it just got crazy. >> tonight those four wounded officers are recovering all though one of them remains in serious condition. stopwatching us. that was the message at rally in our nation's capital. protesters demanding an inve investigation. german secret service officials are coming to the u.s. next week to demand explanations. police making a startling discovery at new york's kennedy airport this morning. a tennessee man trying to board a flight to charlotte, north carolina with some heavy fire power in his position. the firearms the man was carrying in his luggage included two rifles as well as two handguns. he also had high capacity magazines. one of the rifles was loaded. the suspect has been charged with six felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon. there's no word on why he had

insurance than been able to sign up for obama care. alan grayson has a bizarre way of trying to get across his message. he's made plenty of controversial statements all during his tenure but his latest dig at the tea party comparing it with the kkk. i think he's gone too far. his campaign sent out an e-mail with this image with the caption, now you know what the t stands for. it's almost hard to comment. i would say the t stands for maybe the terrible way in which this guy has communicated. if that had been anyone other than a democratic congressman, don't you think that everybody in the media and public would have demanded an apology. only reason we hope he stays there is he's a good reminder of why we need to make serious changes in congress. there's no one in congress more

out rageously insulting than alan grayson. the out rageous insults are flying all over washington but senate majority leader harry reid's interview with radio host, this gets my vote for the most ridiculous statement of the week. >> the only people who feel there shouldn't be more coming into the federal government from the rich people are the republicans in the congress. everybody else, including rich people, are willing to pay more. they want to pay more. >> yeah. i've been traveling a lot lately and it's amazing everywhere i go people come up to me and say mike, do you think you could talk to the people in washington. i just don't feel good about how little i'm paying in taxes. i want to pay more. please tell them to pass the plate. i want to pay more. let me ask our audience, how much of you would like to pay more? how many are dying to pay more? can i see a show of hands.

i was going to pass the hat. get the national thing going. it's not even working here with my audience. harry, i don't know if maybe medical marijuana has now been made legal in nevada and you needed some serious medicine. i can't imagine anybody who isn't stoned that everybody would like to pay more in taxes. i think most of us feel like we're probably coughing up enough. in fact, in many ways we're disgusted with how much we're paying and how little we're getting back from it. if you want to take a piece of advice quit senting $634 million on a website that doesn't work and maybe send it to take care of veterans. i'd pay many for that because i feel like i owe them something. i don't feel like i owe you a

in 2005, the united states had no affordable housing for the deaf. in 2008, they funded an apartment in arizona. it was specially made for deaf people. residents say they feel at home there. now the department of housing and urban development says the apartment complex is discriminating against those that don't have disabilities. the department wants to cap off the units for the deaf for 18 meaning the other 57 units would be blocked off for the very special they were built for. only available to those who don't have any disability at all. joining me is linda russell. she is deaf and she's the management residents of asl.

lin linda's interpreter rocky is here. linda, what are the fears among the residents? >> the people are very concerned be they will be thrust back into a situation where they are very isolated and also they were very concerned an got a lot of nerves that are being up because of that. isolation is very scary for any kind of a person but especially those senior citizens and those who are older. we don't want to see people be thrust back into isolation. >> linda, as someone who is deaf, you have the resources at the apartment complex. it was built expressly for people who were deaf. what do you think about the federal government coming in saying we don't want deaf people to live in place designed for

deaf people? >> translator: i'm very d disappointed in that attitude. i have given a standing invitation to the deputy secretary morris jones to come and visit apache asl trails. he's not yet accepted the inati invitati invitation. our doors are open to him. that's place we feel at home. they're all unified there. it's a place we feel we feel we're able to communicate with one another. we have a lot of friends an safety features that are there. we have a life that's full. we can fully participate. it's not just me. one deaf person. i'm not alone there. that's a wonderful place to be. >> it would be if hearing people were in those apartments there

would be a lot of sophisticated facilities and equipment that they wouldn't want or use. it would be waste of taxpayer money that helped build it. >> translator: yes. that's exactly the point. i agree with that. hearing people can go any place within our cities. they're welcome to come into our facilit facility. we have very few opportunities for the hearing community at large. it's an opportunity to live the same way as anybody else with peace and happiness. >> as an attorney you looked at this situation, it's one of most bizarre circumstances i've heard. i've heard some nutty things. this is at the top of the list. hud builds a housing project for people that are deaf and tells deaf people you can't live here.

>> there was some federal funding but there were private dollars as well. there are 30,000 housing complaints. more than half are filed by people with disabilities. there was never a complaint filed. we have people who desperately need this housing who have no opportunity to live there because of the federal government. >> mary, do you know of any person in the tempe, arizona community who is a hearing person who said i'm going to file a complaint? >> there were no complaints file. when you have two people who want to live at apache asl trails when one is deaf and one is hearing should we follow the law as hud wrote it that says now need to give the preference to the person who needs the

features. >> do you think you'll win this? >> i hope we do. >> if you don't the government is dumber than i imagined it to be. linda, we thank you for being here to tell you story. i'm going to say a thanks to senator jeff in arizona. he's been one of the voices strongly standing up for it. it's easy to get upset with our government for doing something we don't like but for doing something that's plain crazy, this is not an issue about democrats and republicans. this is a difference between using our brains and turning them off and using them for something but clearly not for thinking. stand with the folks at apache asl. let's hope hud will turn on the lights upstairs. you met him earlier in the show. bryan millson will rejoin us with his song and a very powerful message. that's next. i'm overhe hill.
