flooding knocks out power to interprovinces. the super typhoon shows no sign of slowing down. and now it's threatening vietnam. we are tracking it from the weather center. where is it now and what's the path looking like? >> it's going to weaken over the next 12 to 24 hours. it's going to pararell the coast of vietnam which could bring over two feet of rain to this vulnerable area. we have another storm waiting in the wings that is going to pass a similar track to this super typhoon. really incredible. this could be -- this will be record setting in terms of how strong the storm was when it made landfall. sustained winds, 195 mile per hour sustained. which would make it the strongest typhoon tropical cyclone to make landfall anywhere across the world. typhoon haiyan, this is the latest track.
11:32 am
it is still a category 3. still a super typhoon. we expect it to weaken and then, again, parallel the coast here of vietnam. in terms of size, it is a relatively small storm with hurricane force winds extending about 50 miles from the center of the storm. katrina had hurricane force winds extending 100 miles from the storm. and sandy tropical storm force winds, 1,000 miles from the center of the storm. so sandy was a huge massive storm. haiyan by comparison is smaller but much stronger and these areas just can't withstand a category 5 storm. also notable hurricanes when we talk about category 5 storms, hurricane camille, of course, 195 mile per hour sustained winds once it made landfall across mississippi and louisiana which right now holds the record for the strongest tropical cyclone on record to make landfall. but this one will probably supersede that. there's your forecast rainfall as we head further out in time,
