of what we should do. tonight. >> hello everyone. it is 5:00 in new york city and this is "the five." >> you know, things must be really grim at the white house when bill clinton is criticizing work on obamacare. this story can be so depressing it helps to laugh about it. for that we have to face south park. a little managerial advice from them for the president on how to deal with p doing their job. >> i hired a new faculty member
1:01 am
whose seoul responole responsib be to oversee the system and make sure it runs smoothly. >> hello yifr one. >> this system you are responsible for now isn't working out, so what the hell are you going to do about it? >> i am just getting acclimated to the situation. >> you know how much money we wasted on this thing. how about you take some responsibility. you are fired. get out. >> here is advice from bill clinton. >> i personally believe the president should honor you can those people. >> looks like the president was back. >> i am sort of laughing. it was like they made it at home on a youtube video. >> he had porn music behind because he is always working.
1:02 am
>> first let's go to south park. even though you were laughing more at clinton. pretty bad when south park is going after the administration. >> for them i think the bigger part is you can look at any comedy show. obamacare has been going on for 5 months now the ridicule is setting in. now it has become ak setted you can make fun of it. bill clinton you add that on the substantive point and all of the democrat holding back criticism now they have entree to take the full step to criticize it themselves. you are seeing that not just in the polling but the comments from lawmakers like dave hoyer on the democrat side who said he is not closed minded to the idea that he said you could keep the insurance if you like it. >> what do you think is worse when south park criticizes the president so it permeates the culture people who aren't reading head street journal or
1:03 am
headline on the wall street journal? >> it is scary when pop culture wakes up and finally sees you are stuck. bill clinton accusing obama of breaking many promises. he has broken more promises than michael moore broke chairs. this is a weird -- i have a conspiracy. so far 50,000 people signed up for obamacare. that's the same number of obamacare navigators. the health debt for obamacare. either each navigator signed up one person or they just signed up themselves which is even more hilarious that they couldn't find anybody. how do we not know that? it could be navigators that signed up for obamacare. >> before we get into the numbers of obamacare wait a little on bill clinton. the president is in a box. bill clinton made his box even smaller. what's behind those helping his
1:04 am
wife butt some space between herself and obama? >> i remember press conference in the briefing room president clinton was in there. obama -- one of them wouldn't leave. i can't remember which one wouldn't leave. clinton wouldn't leave. this has been going on. it is a while in dc circles they don't get along. a lot of people are speculating why he would do that. this didn't help president obama at all. because he now hads to do something. what do you do? do you continue to have 50,000 enrollees or do you make changes? jay carney said we understand what he had to say. maybe the president is looking it all up. >> i will make one last point. he could look at it another way. bill clinton real lipped president obama today. he basically took away the dam and now the water can flow out
1:05 am
obama can say i am going to have to make some changes ear. it stops the guesswork out of it. it could be a forcing action. >> the only thing i thought about this i talked to different people, it would be to delay the penalty. there are a number of bills out there. mary landrieu has a bill out there. president clinton said he should honor the commitment. there's no way you can honor the commitments. you can'ten honor them. the plans are gone unless you have a time machine you can fix these mandates there is no way you can fix this thing? what do you think they are going to be doing? is>> it is nice to be back. we can bring the level of the show back to the normal excellence. first of all about clinton, there's a lot of mix in here. part of it is the animosity. i think it has more to do with hillary than anything else.
1:06 am
she needs that kind of breathing space. it opens the gates for others to come out. if you could delayl÷tcp it's the right thing to do let me say one thing if it is possible to open the bill up. image the debate over that? people are young people and they listen to crap like that. >> it is great crap. south park is great. funny thing is that's the benefit of south park is they are talking to the people who are getting screwed. somebody has to a lot of young people aren't going to figure this out unless they end up paying and maybe south people will get to them.
1:07 am
>> i know a couple of young people i don't care i am going to pay the penalty. 90 bucks. i don't care. bob talked about bill clinton trying to help out his wife and inoculate her from this bill even though i think that will be tough to do. how do other democrats do it? they tried to run this thing ask for obama about the situation. why wou how do they defend the numbers? >> they don't. there's no defensive. >> there is no way out of this. we told you the web site would be a slow rollout. we used the analogy last night the stripper with the cold sore. she is still a stripper with a cold sore. you realize what obama care is
1:08 am
the enrollment numbers won't come anywhere near what they expect it to be or want it to be they realize they have nothing to run on. >> my suggestion wouldn't be delay it as republicans. i would say let's get this thing over with or fix it. >> what has been successful increase in medicaid in the states where they have not screwed around with it. >> how is that successful? all you have done is put more people on the dull and no people to pay for the people. >> if we had a single payer plan everybody would be covered. >> stop calling it single care plan calli it socialism. he loves to poif vo-- pivot. he should start blaming obamacare on global warming. he should start replacing consumers with windmills that would give him the climb gnat change to get him away from
1:09 am
obamacare. >> i hate to get into this. >> you don't know crap about that. you want to get into that i will go head to head. >> dana, when over 3 million people. 3.2 million according to the associated press have lost their healthcare greg said 50,000 people have enrolled, how do you message this? i want to play the first clip because democrats are busy trying to figure out who to blame. ed schultz says republicans should be apologizing for this. >> it was reported in the media he has apologized to all of the people out there losing their insurance. really? i saw he was apologizing the inconvenience people will have to go through to get some real coverage. the apology should be coming from the conservatives and apologizing to the 50 million americans who have been without insurance because dam it they
1:10 am
didn't see it. >> what do you think about that? >> you can tell why their ratings are so bad. i couldn't watch it. i read it this morning and i had to watch it because i was intrigued by the idea of an apology. actually it's the reverse. i believe liberals should apologize to conservatives, because we were the ones that were trying to argue on the merits and to say this is not going to work, there is a better way. there's a way we can protect people who are sick and we can do this in the free market. give it a chance to let the competitive market work. conservatives were called everything from racist to, well you name any other word. i think the apology should come to us. now they actually think the conservatives should come and help them fix it. >> i was waiting a long time for an apology. conservatives have done everything they could to put a roadblock in the way. >> that's because they were right, bob. >> how do you know they are right? >> people who are watching it.
1:11 am
it is a disaster. best argument against obamacare is obamacare. we are watching it unfold. >> i think you owe us an apology for putting that buffoon on our air. conservatives should apologize for warning the american people it was coming? conservatives don't owe liberals an apology. >> shut up. you are wrong. 3 percent of people have enrolled. is that the conservative's fault? that's like getting your name wrong on the sat. i won't say shut up any more but you deserved it. >> how do democrats explain they lost. you have all of these people enrolling in medicaid which will cost aids a lot of money.
1:12 am
there are only 50,000 people enrolled now they changed the formula. this is the story out today. in order to get the numbers inflated it is not just people who purchased plans it is people who have plans in their shopping cart. you know how many shoes i have in different shopping carts on web sites across america. what if stores tried to say their stores at the end of the day were based on products we had in the shopping carts. the fed would kick down the door. >> the stim lust bill they said they were going to have jobs created and jobs saved, jobbed saved was a bogus number. the media didn't call him on it then they won't now. remember when i went to that container store when i first moved here i had a panic attack and i left everything in the cart i feel guilty. i apologize for that. i couldn't stand in line. i couldn't wait. they didn't count that as sales. >> they are padding it. why can't we pad and say we have already paid this amount of
1:13 am
taxes even though we hadn't. it is no different. >> or you could say i am gonna use this money to pay my taxes. i p haven't yet but i am going to. >> amazon, ebay, it doesn't work. it is like the wal-mart checkout counter until you have actually run the registry. enrollees 50,000 the first month, 5 million we are going with 5 million. i believe it estimates 5 million people have been tleen off their health insurance. the great obamacare rollout 4,950,000 fewer people with healthcare insurance one month into the system or for every one enroll knee 100 people have been thrown off. >> you had single payer. leave that go aside when you say put it back in the hands of the free market three market has 40-50 million people. now what? >> now it's 45 tofor 55 million.
1:14 am
>> what are you going to do about people that are uninsured? >> i have an answer for you. >> number one. remove the mandate portion of this. remove it. okay. no, no. you want to solve this. remove the mandate portion. let insurance companies sell insurance across state lines. you want a government option knock yourself out. let the government 789 get involved and under cut the insurance companies. it will drive the prices down. it's the one thing that will work. >> you have medicaid for people who are poor? >> don't make the poverty -- i should have said who can't qualify more mfor medicaid. what about the people who don't have the money to buy outrageous -- >> why don't you give them a tax credit. you know what, this was never about getting people covered. it was never about lowering premiums. it was about getting votes. that's what this thing is about. that's why it doesn't work, bob. we don't have time to play the
