"hannity" starts right now. and welcome to "hannity kwts"hannity ," it is the next scandal about to rock the white house, in the 2012 presidential campaign, the unemployment numbers fell sharply, raising eyebrows from wall street to washington, the numbers may not have been all they seem. the numbers, according to a reliable source were manipulated. and the census bureau knew it. i wish we could say we were shocked. but last october on this very same day, the questionable report was released we sounded the alarms that it seemed very suspicious. this is what we said. in a move that appears underneath the dignity of the office, it appears the president

changed the numbers, the labor department announced that the unemployment rate magically dropped to 7.8% in september. in addition, the number of people who found jobs last month registered at 800,000. and wouldn't you know it? that is one of the biggest one-month jumps in 29 years. let me say this one more time. the biggest jump since 1983. pretty convenient since barack obama currently finds himself in perhaps the worst political week of his life. and while the president claims this move is unexpected, and that america is moving forward there are a growing number of sceptics crying foul. chief among them, ceo jack welch, he tweeted, unbelievable numbers, these chicago guys will do anything. they can't debate, so they change the numbers. now it is scary to think what else the administration has done during the president's time in office. but one thing is sure, the republicans will get to the

bottom of this. the house oversight committee put this out, saying that the data being manipulated for any reason is extremely serious, they have jurisdiction and will thoroughly investigate the claims. joining me now, the chairman of the committee, darrell issa, and congressman, welcome to the program. >> well, thank you, sean, and thanks for covering this issue of what is clearly a serious allegation. >> well, let's just assume that the source they cite is accurate. what does that mean? would that have an impact on the electoral results. what could be the impact? >> well, it is certainly an indication that we have a government not telling us the

truth. we have had lies about benghazi, lies and lies and lies that if you like your health insurance you can keep it. it is a pattern of lies that is really concerning. it is a government of the people, for the people and by the people. you should be able to trust the government. and census data, in particular, is used all over wall street, and the government. it is absolutely critical that that information be accurate and the accuracy be impeccable. >> congressman issa? >> well, blake is exactly right. so many parts of the private sector and government depend on the accuracy of this data. and the integrity of the census bureau has to be restored. right now this allegation puts it in serious doubt. and there are implications, also to the fed, whether there is stimulus. all of that has an effect. even quite certain, that job led to wall street making a different forecast. we have to get to the crux of

this. make sure that allegation is correct, and if it is true we have to make sure there is cleanup at the bureau, at the minimum. >> what would the consequences be if this is true? >> well, whether it is the president getting away with saying that on his watch, he told the truth about terrorist attack or this, all of this goes to a president that enjoyed uplifting in favorable numbers going into the election, something for many reasons we don't believe he deserves, especially when you look at current events today when you look at his signature legislation is falling around his ears. something that republicans said on the day we voted against it. >> all right, jay carney responded to this. i should point out the same jay carney that advanced the falsehood that it was a youtube video, and a spontaneous -- eruption that took place in benghazi. the same jay carney and the same

jay carney that on other occasions said it is only 5% that are impacted by losing their plans. this is what he said, nobody should listen to this, earlier today during the press briefing. >> i'd ask if there is anything to this report. or anything that would knock down -- that interviews were faked in the bureau of labor statistics, on the unemployment numbers, is there anything -- >> i would refer you to census. that story is obviously misleading. i think a lot of people shed a lot of credibility in engaging in conspiracy theories last fall, about rigged jobs numbers. i have to tell you as somebody who has been here for a long time, when month after month after month the job numbers came in and later were revised upward, i sure didn't feel like they were helping us. >> what is your reaction to that mr. chairman? >> you know it is amazing that jay carney would talk about credibility, when he reads the script. and the script so often is

simply not true. but having said that, look, we want to get to the bottom. we want to know if there is a problem at census and the problem is serious, even if it is one actor, but if the controls are not there to make sure there is a check and balance, we take responsibility for the just for the ten-year census, but for month after month where the numbers are critical to our economy, and even the ripple effect for the rest of the world. we'll investigate it, get to the bottom of it. and if it goes like so many investigations, jay carney, at the end of the day will be wrong. >> we have had the ir enemies list, the doj targeting the reporters, the nsa spying, fast and furious, i guess you could probably add obama care to the list. now, we have a montage with the president saying he never knew about the scandals, allegations are made, they deny it later, and by the time the facts come out they say it is old news. let's just remind people how

they respond to the scandals. >> on the website i was not informed directly that the website would not be working. the way it was supposed to. had i been informed i wouldn't be going out saying boy, this is going to be great. i said i would look into the allegations. part of the problem is we get this through the press and then i have to go back and find out what is going on. >> i can assure you that i certainly did not know anything about the ig report, before the ig report had been leaked through press -- through the press. >> i was not personally aware of any requests, obviously, we havenhave an infrastructure that is set up to manage requests. >> he has indicated he was not aware of what was happening in fast and furious, certainly i was not. >> congressman, is he aware of anything that seems to happen? >> what is worse? i mean, i fire people in my office when they don't tell me

now, it is not all. the registered voters asked if the 2012 election were held today, who would they vote for? well, 49% say they would vote for governor romney, only 45% would vote for president obama, romney would win by double digits, 49 to 39%. now the disastrous numbers for team obama are because of one thing and one thing only, obama care, 51% of the people surveyed disapprove of the president's health care overhaul, and obama is under water for the first time. half of all say he is not a strong leader, doesn't understand the problems of people like you, and is not honest, or trustworthy. how are you, sir? >> great, sean, how are you? >> you're a great american, bill

bennett, these numbers, the first time it happened on the issues of leadership, empathy, the president, not a strong leader and doesn't understand people's problems. more important, people don't view him as honest and trustworthy. what does it mean for a president? >> it means he is in serious trouble. as you said he appears to be in free fall and things may get worse. but, i'm a catholic, sean, i was taught, regarding the veil of tears. i am very cautious about the triumphist attitude some have, it is all over, this is the end of the social welfare state. it is. why would 39% of independents vote for him? seems to me the record that he has put together not just with

obama care but with the lies, the deceptions, all of the lies, he will fight back, you will see big subsidies going to insurance companies and individuals. these so-called risk corridors which will try to hold the insurance companies safe. they will do everything they can to prop it up. and of course, we'll hear about the race card and everything else, they have to do everything to keep the ship from sinking. >> just under obama care alone, doesn't he have a big obstacle. because with every passing week and month, more cancellation letters go out. more people realize they can't keep not only their plan but their doctor. and of course, the issue of rate shock, people are paying higher and higher premiums. this will continue to roll out for an entire year. so how structurally do they get the momentum back. what can they do to stop that short of cancelling obama care? >> keep the insurance companies in business with the subsidies and other things.

that is why this rubio bill that was introduced was very important. second, they will try to get the numbers up of the people who support, and of course the people who have not had insurance before. they will try to make the numbers larger. remember another ally the president has, i know the press has been hard on him but they will rally to his side. they never came back to george w. bush, you know they will come back to barack obama. there is one other thing, i don't minimize it, these are serious structural problems, i don't think it will work. but the president has shown the capacity for ignoring the law. what happens when you have a president of the united states who doesn't care what the law says and will do whatever it takes to have his way. i think he cares more about having his way than he cares about the country. so look, if i had to predict if the thing will survive in the long run, i don't. but you know, you still don't have a majority, sean, that is in favor of repealing this law.

it seems we have had enough to do that -- >> but there is a 16-point margin of people that are more li likely to oppose a candidate who supported obama care. now, at what point do you hit the tipping point and other candidates, red state democrats, for example, or congressional candidates in marginal districts, at what point did they start to abandon ship in some way to save their own skin? >> i think pretty soon, actually december first, we hear in washington, i'm sure you have heard it that you know if this website is not working or running really well by early december a lot of democrats will abandon it. and indeed they will. so look, the signs are not good. i just don't want people running around as i heard some republicans say man, we got this guy. we'll tattoo his forehead with all of this and it is over. >> i'm not in the prediction business, but look at what happened today, this jessica sanford who was referenced by

the president, on the 21st, 48-year-old single mom, got what she thought to be a life-changing event. turns out in her case she loses on obama care. those stories, i don't see any end to them in the next year. >> yeah, it is the direct impact on individuals. as one of my callers this morning said it is like every american has become a small oil and gas company owner. and now they're getting the epa on them. you know, before they used to just hear businessmen and others complaining about the government getting on them. now the government is getting on individuals. and wait until the slips start to go out on the companies. there are meetings now in these companies, 50 or more, large companies saying we'll have to change our plans for next year. that is why he is trying to hold these insurance companies close to him. because if they abandon, and you know, they were in on this from the beginning then i think he is lost. but we'll see an effort here to break the bank by trying to get the subsidies up. this is one of the next things
