blessed. enjoy it. huckabee joins us in minutes. let's look at the lights on sixth avenue and get you in the mood for christmas. tonight on huckabee, in 2010 the president dismissed his recommendation for catastrophic insurance. >> would you be satisfied if every member of congress had catastrophic care. >> i think we would. >> fast forward to 2013. >> it makes sense as we are transferring to a system in which insurance standards are higher, that we also address folks who get caught in that transition and there are unintended consequences. >> the wyoming senator's reaction. and christmas is a time for giving. he is giving those who can't afford to, a chance to get home for the holidays. plus your tweets on obamacare and the governor's take on the duck dynasty

controversy. ladies and gentlemen, governor mike huckabee. [ applause ] >> thank you. thank you very much. we have a great audience here in new york. and we want to say welcome to huckabee from the fox news studios in new york city. now do you remember when america was a free country? religious liberty, so foundational to our nation's origin, that faith was embedded in the first amendment in our bill of rights. the government is forbidden to prefer or prohibit an expression of religion. religion is free to be expressed but government has never been free to enfringe. in recent days a small but vocal and military group of same-sex marriage advocates have forced industry and government to go beyond tolerating homosexuality
5:02 pm
but to approve it. i'm told to shut up advocating for traditional marriage, but those who press activism for same-sex marriage, wedding caterers and photographs are being forced to serve sale weddings even if it violates the religious convictions of the provider. a&e found a successful formula that took this from arts and entertainment. reality shows have turned it into a cash cow but none of the shows have rockitied to the stratosphere of green and gold like the most popular show ever, duck dynasty. elites have never understood the popularity in fly-over country but for those of us that live in that part of america, duck dynasty wasn't about the beards or the ducks, but the strongly

knit sense of family. their can -- christian belief is too real for reality. and they are happy, happy, happy. they are not straight laced snobs, but they laugh, they pay and they pray. they reflect a family that loves each other and they also believe a view of marriage that has been the standard for all of human history and the norm for christianity, judiasm and islam. a&e tossed phil robertson off tv because he believed what he said and he said what he believed. a&e is insulting and snobbing the millions of americans who hold the same view, expressed in less graphic terms. i doubt the gray rights groups watch duck dynasty. they used to lobby for tolerance and now they are lobbying for
5:04 pm
intolerance. it is not as high as jersey shore, temptation island and cheaters. it is okay for shows to glorify teen sex and promiscuity, but if shun should reflect his christian face, then god him him because the network won't. [ applause ] >> so just who did the suits at a&e think those millions were who watch duck dynasty? muslims aren't criticized, ostracized or banned from the public square and their views are far more harsh. most christians i know, including me, are respectful and tolerant of those who are homosexual and engage in friendship with, employment with and with others that are openly gay. i can accept anybody. but i shouldn't be forced to em braise a -- embrace a view of
5:05 pm
faith, my friends think i'm a religious net in believing in the bible and the resurrection of jesus christ. so are they soin secure thatter -- soin secure of tolerating anyone who doesn't agree with them. will we one day be told that the government what we can and can't say or can and cant believe. it started in the market place. and it ends when it is enforced by the state. and folks, we're getting close. we're getting close. [ applause ] >> i hope you'll send me a message by way of hit twit -- twitter. you can tweet me at huckabee show. and speaking of tweets, last week we talked about the many different ways the obama administration is trying to get young people to sign up for obamacare. one advocacy group sent out a picture of the president holding up a sign that said get covered because -- and then written in

the blank space it says because nobody should go broke just because they get sick. now many on the internet photo shopped the photo and changed the message like this one. it says get covered because obama care canceled the plan you like. so last week we asked you to fill in the blank and then to tweet us as to your reasons why to get covered. by the way, we received thousands of tweets. in fact, we were the fifth most tweeted television show in all of america last saturday. so we want to give you an example of just what we got from you our viewers. here is one from stephanie. is says get covered because the nsa thinks that mole looks a little suspicious. here is one from texan for bush, it says get covered because he knows if you've been naughty or nice. obama, not santa. and from phil, get covered because obama said you shouldn't go broke if you get sick, go broke paying for obama care
5:07 pm
instead. and this one from greg. get covered because i lied and you fell for it, you stupid suckers. at least it got me re-elected. and here is one from joseph who treated, get covered because my second term is going to make you sick. and then terry writes, he says get covered because why waste you will -- all of the money it took to destroy our health care system. and from martell, get covered because you can combine your irs audit and physical examination into one great experience. [ applause ] >> well this week obama announced that americans with insurance plans that were canceled, can opt for catastrophic coverage in 2014. that is sending the insurance industry scrambling because there is only a few days left before 2014. but at the white house health summit which was back in
5:08 pm
february of 2010, the president laughed off some suggestions by wyoming senator john berasso. he suggested that kata strovic insurance was viable. i spoke to the senator earlier and ask him if he feels vindicated by the president's change of heart. >> well he came out with this late-night kind of announcement to try to hide it from the press, that one again -- that once again he is changing the health care law. i think the catastrophic coverage is the right approach for a number of people. it is helpful. the president said it was awful but now he is admitting that due to the hardships presented because of the health care law, that now it is okay to have catastrophic care. it is the kind of thing that actually helps people avoid bankruptcy, helps people avoid the loss of their house or a kid having to quit school because of some terrible health emergency. so what the paparazzi was been the president was arguing with the republicans four years ago,
5:09 pm
in the last week he's embraced them. >> and even a few weeks ago he was calling this type of policy, junk insurance. wasn't adequate and didn't fully take care of people's needs. it is hard to understand what obama care is going to be, because it changes every week, depending on the political circumstances the president finds himself in. does that give republicans a little bit more ammunition going into 2014 to push for serious changes in the structure for obamacare. >> as a doctor, i want to make sure that people can find quality, affordable health care from a doctor they cluz. and i think the president's plan and law just makes it worse. the president in his press conference this week seemed to think everything was going fine except for the website. but you know, governor, the website is just the tip of the iceberg. people are seeing they've had their policies canceled --
5:10 pm
premiums are going up, higher copays and you can't keep your doctor even if you would like them and then the issues of computer fraud and identity theft. >> one of the problems the president keep changing the rules as to when implementation is going to happen, the latest is he's pushed off on the insurance companies that people can enroll as late as the 31st. but the insurance companies have to enroll them in a amount of hours, not the weeks. and your colleague from wyoming and tennessee have introduced legislation that would force the administration to follow their own law. tell us about what it would do and why it is important to make sure they live within what they said they wanted? >> well this is consequential legislation, it is called the premium disclosure act. because the president now wants people to not know what their insurance will cost in 2015, mike, until after the elections. he is un lateral said rather
5:11 pm
than the october 15th date when people would sign up and know what things will cost them next year, he's pushed it back, instead of two weeks before the election, to two weeks after the election. and with our legislation, we say not good enough, mr. president. october 15th is the date and people need to know by september 15th what the premiums will be the following year so they can make plans and budget and know what the costs are going to be. the president continues to try to mislead the american people and this legislation tries to prevent that. >> 67% of americans say the whole thing should be delayed but if there is another delay that is just arbitrary, doesn't that make it even more difficult for insurance companies to implement the plan? they don't know how many customers they will have and how to pred the -- spread the cost and that would see to me as catastrophic as the catastrophic nature of the website, if this were to happen? >> and it is what is happening. i think we're seeing, as the people that are going to the
5:12 pm
website, 60 or 70 times to sign up, where clearly the sicker people who need and want insurance immediately, that leads to what to me is an insurance death spiral with only the sick folks signing up. so then the cost will go higher and higher and i think that the president is going to then try to unilaterally bail out insurance companies with the taxpayers' paying for it. but i'm calling to actually remove the entire industry mandate, the president unilaterallydy it with the employer mandate, delaid that -- delayed that for a year. the individual mandate is the most unpopular part of the law where the government says you have to buy a product and it is a government approved product that for many people is a product that people don't need or don't want and will never use and can't afford. and you talk about these junk policies, at least the way the president described them, so we have a rancher in newcastle, wyoming, and she got a
