@ainsley earhardt on twitter. >> thank you, sean. you're on -- >> 5:00 to 6:00 a.m. early, early. >> what was the top story of this year? >> obamacare for me. i was working on your show so much with obamacare. definitely watching the whole package with all of them together. the boston marathon bombing. that united our country with a tragedy. also zimmerman shook our country. it was tragic. uh you hear sound bites from the parent who is lost their son. brought up so many racial iss issues. >> zimmerman an the knock out game. then the government shutdown and obamacare. a lot went on. what was the top story? >> i think the obamacare roll out has been significant. everything leading up to that. obamacare was really -- that was where it took its course.

disenchantment with the current policieses. >> was this a good year for barack obama? you're his big supporter. >> he's had better years. 2012 was certainly better. he saw a huge uptick with the government shutdown that was squandered when the website went -- >> by the $600 million, three and a half years and the botched roll out and broken promises and lies about obamacare? >> obamacare is turning around. the white house is turning the corner. so he's got momentum going into 2014. forget the rest of this. >> wasn't 2013 the year we saw the obama presidency collapse? we saw the nsa wiretapping scandal which touched millennials and on this new -- >> hold that thought.

who thinks this was the year of obama's collapse? wow. who says no? >> i say no. >> we have four, five people. i agree with you. the year of the collapse. >> we had the foreign policy. the nsa wiretapping when it came to american citizens and journalists. don't forget fox's james rosen. with the irs scandal. we learned the government was possibly using the irs to intimidate and supress opposition voices. then we haven't apprehended the benghazi operatives. >> you're with the with huffington post? >> not anymore. >> so was this a good year for obama? >> i think when you talk about the collapse, i don't see the administration collapse at all.

i see a health care roll out with bumps but now it is working. >> working? >> sure. >> half the website isn't built. he has the lowest approval rating at the end of a fifth year than any president since nixon. help me out. george w. bush had a higher approval rating after year five than obama. >> couldn't get health care ben affleck. >> you believe that. >> yes. >> really? >> of course. >> go ahead and finish. >> hang on. >> the fact that you are still justifying the irs scandal targeting conservatives is appalling. i'm not surprised. the president did it, too. he came out when the irs scandal came out and said, i think this is outrageous. no way should the irs be used to target political opponents.

two weeks ago he said i can't believe there was outrage because there was a list. it's unfortunate we can't come together on the issue of the irs targeting political opponents. what if they were doing it to the other side? >> great point. i see the eggnog kicked in. let's go to congressman kucinich. welcome. you are interesting to me. i find myself agreeing with you more this year than ever. we have had heated battles over the years. >> and? [ laughter ] >> i thought you were going to weigh in on this. did obama have a bad year? was this a collapse of his presidency? >> i don't know about a collapse. he has another three years. can't talk about a collapse. he's in for three more years. the question is the country. what's happening here? in terms of stories, one of the big stories of the t year is the fact that the american people resisted being dragged into another war against syria. that was an outcry that happened

from the american people. >> the american people or did obama back away from his red line? >> oh, no. an outcry was happening. i have never seen numbers of unity among the people saying we don't want to do this. it was reflected in congress's position, too. that was a big development. >> on the other hand, he went behind the backs of the t israelis and saudis and made a deal negotiating with iran who i don't trust, who i think are on their way to making a nuclear weapon. >> this is the decline of america and the presidency that's failing. around the world we are losing respect, influence. you're right about iran. there was a red line that was crossed. look at what's happening in ukraine now. bottom line, we are losing the russians and chinese are winning. we are more divided than ever before. amy was right about how the scandals played out here. around the world we have become something of a laughingstock. >> we'll come back.

welcome back to the special edition of hannity. 2013 in review. we have already counted down the big storieses of t year. now it's time to focus on the scandals. thanks to the bumbling obama administration, quite a few to choose from. unfortunately we have to narrow the list down to five. here's what we came up with. >> the nsa specifically targets the communications of everyone.

it ingests them by default. collects them in the system. >> does the nsa collect any type of data at all on millions or hundreds of millions of americans? >> no, sir. >> it does not. >> not wittingly. >> even if you are not doing anything wrong you are being watched and recorded. >> you have gotten into who they might be googling. you have gotten into who they might be e-mailing. what else do you feel you can get. >> with respect to the government subpoena of phone records at the associated press, i'm troubled by the notion that our government would pursue such a broad array of media phone records. >> this was done in secret. these a.p. reporters didn't know that these lines were being tapped. >> journalists should not be at legal risk for doing their jobs. our focus must be on those who break the law.

>> i don't know what happened there with the interaction between the a.p. and the justice department. i was recused from the case. >> we cannot allow the fbi or this administration to deny the congress access to vital information to tell the story of benghazi. >> the whole issue of talking points frankly throughout the process has been a side show. >> we have had a has sieve cover-up. >> we had four dead americans because of a protest or because of guys out for a walk who decided to kill americans? what difference, at this point, does it make? >> we care and the american people care and the fanls of the four brave american who is sacrificed their lives unnecessarily. they care. >> the irs admitted to targeting conservatives. >> if, in fact, irs personnel were intentionally targeting conservative groups then that's outrageous. >> who gave the orders?

where did this come from? >> can you hear us now? >> i certainly didn't know anything about the i.g. report. >> my question isn't who will resign. my question is who is going to jail over this scandal? >> if you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor, period. in you like your health care plan, you will be with able to keep your health care plan. what we said was you could keep it. if it hasn't changed since the law hases passed. >> the president should honor the commitment the federal government made to people and let them keep what they've got. >> i am sorry that they are finding themselves this is this situation based on assurances they got from me. >> sound off on facebook and twitter throughout the hour. we bring back our studio audience. here you have the irs scandal, nsa, benghazi.

>> the nsa was key. that was a moment when barack obama lost people on the left who care about civil liberties and privacy. it wases key because the libertarian wing of the party, the rand pauls were able to defend civil liberties. it was an opportunity to define which party is standing up for privacy rights. if not this administration who can we look to? it was a rising moment for the libertarian wing. we also learned we are lied to a lot. how many think we are lied to throughout the year? you are hesitant. >> i'm hesitant about the use of the word "t lie". >> if you like your plan you can keep it. benghazi was because of a youtube video. >> i don't like the word lie when it comes to george bush or barack obama. i think we need to have a civilized discussion about the problems of this country including the ones we have been

seeing. >> noah works at mediaite and i know if i tell a lie -- >> we're watching you. >> that come my guy after me all the time. >> that's his job. >> thas good for us. did the president lie this year? >> he does but i share your concern of the use of the word lie. but there were a lot of misleading statements. of the scandals you listed each is simmering in the background. they will be a factor with the exception of the a.p. scandal involving journalist records. that was addressed immediately, comprehensively. the doj opened up back channels to the press and created a way to air grievances that weren't so public. that one got to them. >> don't think the effect is that the press is scared to death with justification about what could or will happen? i am. >> you're a democrat. did the president lie? >> the president's credibility has been put in question with

action and words that can't be explained. >> tamara holder, you started as a staunch believer. barbara walters was quoted as saying about the presidency, we thought he would be the mess messiah. >> i don't think anybody should think somebody else will be the messiah. the problem is the divided nature, specifically just the panels that we have. we are fighting about the problems of 2013. what can we do together as a nation because barack obama has been with -- why can't we have the issue where we can all agree on certain things like should pe pre-existing condition bs covered? all of the problems. >> how do we have that debate when you have a president that will not allow a debate on

health care though everything he sold us isn't true. >> he was re-elected in -- >> so was the congress. they were re-elected. >> the economy lost. he didn't put a good argument forward. >> there was a check and a balance. >> so i'm asking youment do we impeach probe? >> did anyone hear that? i didn't say that. >> what's your solution? we have two visions for the country. you have the obama version. i have the hannity version. >> you have big government. >> you have people who believe in the free market and the private sector. when republicans argue for purchasing insurance across state lines they are not being heard because big government advocates -- >> take us out. >> one of the favorite mistruths if we are not saying lie, of progressives is there are no alternatives to obamacare. obamacare is terrible. they will admit that much. but no obamacare supporter will

republicans in congress were going to delay obamacare turned around and delayed obamacare himself alone without congress, bamboozled people. you wonder why we have disapproval ratings of the president. no one trust it is government. 2013 was a rough year for the station. the american people lost. >> we were talking about whether or not obama was the biggest loser, is collapsing. i think his view of liberalism which is that government can do big, great, wonderful things. that was the biggest loser of 201. the website revealed that even if you have everything set up, all the votes in for pushing the legislation through, when you have to implement it and get started it fell apart. i think his vision of government really lost in 2013. >> i think the biggest problem is those that continue to defend the irs scandal, to prevend like

it is not a problem. to write off and apologize for an intrusive government. >> you say the media that covers for him? >> i don't agree with with a lot but when the nsa scandal happens, he called it. i don't understand people who continue to to defend obamacare. who continue to defend the irs scandal. i was one of the people targeted. don't tell me that was not malicious intent on the part of people who thought i was their political opposition. it's morally reprehensible. >> one of the biggest losers is your voice which is half gone. >> i agree. i think the american people are the biggest losers. the fact that 85% of the country wanted changes in gun control and republicans voted against it. as we get into the end of the t year, early next year the president is winning. after the shutdown things are actually getting done. >> getting done? >> we have a budget.

>> a budget that's going up. a budget with that's headed to 25 trillion in debt on top of the # 0 trillion in unfuntded liabilities. >> we can all agree the roll out wasn't the best, right? >> the plan isn't the best. >> congress didn't allow us to enforce the laws. the insurance companies aren't allowing us -- >> oh, it's their fault. >> so people are losing insurance. >> todd, fox news radio. >> i believe president obama is the biggest loser here. this is a man whose administration tried to audit billy graham, for crying out loud. this is the man who tried to make politics and play politics out of the george zimmerman trial. this is a man with a ron burgundy problem. put it on the teleprompter and he'll say it. should have been a question mark, not a period.

as a woman and where are the women on the list of amazing winners this year? janet yellen, edie windsor? >> ben carson's speech. did it puncture a hole in the conscious of america's soul? was that a powerful speech? it was not? come on. >> i think he embarrassed himself. you had young people who admired him said they didn't want him speaking at their college. back to the pope. the pope isn't a liberal. the pope read the bible. he's supporting poor people. >> i went the to seminary. render unto caesar that which is caesar's and unto god that which is god's. considering god made everything, caesar gets nothing. go ahead. >> i want to give credit to george bush. i think the american people are finally getting to see his true character. he's a man of integrity. he's a classy guy and has a huge

heart. finally now that the mainstream media backed off and stopped demon yiezing him we are getting to see the real george bush. they like him. >> one of the things that frustrated me all the years that i is known him and interviewed him is i never felt the media did him justice in terms of showing how much he loved and cared, how passionate he was, how 9/11 changed him. he was not going to let it happen again. >> he carried it on his shoulders. >> every day. >> we saw it throughout the wars in iraq and afghanistan during his presidency. >> absolutely. all true. >> barack obama will look just as good as george bush does now. it's absolutely true. >> 2018, we'll come back and discuss it. let me go to jedediah. we have rand, cruz, marco, mike

anybody touched by washington was hurt. the winners are governors like chris christie, scott walker. they run the gamut and have a reform platform. that's something to stand on. >> that's what this is about. these men are building the platform for 2016. if they can take the messages that they have been saying, that they have been the foreigners for and they need to transfer it into great policy they can advocate for they have to have solutions. republicans have great ways to do good things for the country. that's what we have the to see coming from washington. >> come january, i'm outlining what the conservative solution agenda for america should be. >> awesome. >> i'm not reinventing the wheel. if we the do they will have an agenda to run on. we know barack obama is awful. what are you going to do to change the world, make it better and put kids to work? >> one more thing on your list. sem-sex couples were big winners
