fox urgent two people killed in a shopping mall in maryland and now we know who they are. police identifying them. i am harris falksener, this is the fox report. a peaceful but cold saturday morning sending people shopping in the mall and it turned terrifying. policemen said a gunman opened fire and killed two workers in a skate shop and wounded a third person and he then turned the gun on himself. the witness described the chaos. >> i heard something fall like bricks and all of the sudden, i saw three people shot fall and everybody ducked to the ground

and i heard more than ten shots. >> she heard and saw so much. that was lauren stapleton and we'll talk to her live in a moment. the police responded to the mall and arriving in the scene, within seconds or minutes from the first 911 call. strategy, clearly coming in to play here. officers worked together to get everybody out safely and make sure everybody was out. >> i would like to close it down and regroup and so we know what is inside and plan a methodal plan of attack on this building. >> and molly is live from maryland now. mole, we anyhow that mall had gone through training for this sort of thing, the employees and now we know more about the shooter. >> reporter: we know he is a male and had a shotgun and ammunition found near his body.

he killed two employees in the skate shop and killed himself. police have not identified the shooter yet and here's why. >> he was deceased and he had a large amount of ammunition on and about him and so, because of concerns about any other weapons and explosives, we are approaching this with an a bullpenedance of caution and getting assistance from federal partners in making sure there is no explosives. >> reporter: police brought in a robot to search around the body and around the body to so what is there. and they are flying in a bomb sniffing dog as well. we have the iowa identities of two victims. 21-year-old briana of college

park maryland and 25 year old tyler johnson from maryland. >> i said earlier we heard how prepared the employees in the mall seemed and hear about two of them losing their lives in all of this. local police trained for this type of emergency at that very mall? >> reporter: that's right. harris, here people worked here and worked with them in the past and that training paid off today. here's how shoppers and store owners described what happened in the inside. >> it sounded like a transformer blowing to me and then a bunch of people ran by my store and we realized that obviously there was a shooter in the mall and that was gunfire. >> we pulled down the front gate on the store. >> and get back and go to the back. the gates are down and you are

safe. >> reporter: swat teams spent hours combing the mall and finding groups of people hiding during the shooting and telling them it was safe to come out. police don't have a motive for the shooting and the maryland governor praised the 50 responders for their quick work and offered condolences to the victim's family, harris. >> quoit a day out there molly. and we'll talk to lauren stapleton who works in the mall and witnessed the shooting. lauren? >> i am here. >> it was 11 time time 50 a.m. eastern, tell us your experience today? >> well, my boss had asked me to go down stairs to the food court and i said okay. and i am standing there and i didn't think anything of it and it sounded in my recording, it sounded like bricks falling from

the second level and i was on the main level and i heard someone said get down shots fired and my instinct was to grab the child next to me and i am not letting a kid die. and i grabbed the kid and told the mom hey, let's go and i don't want you hurt and let's go and i got them in the thesears. and there was a gunman and shut down the store and get to safety. i ran while shots were fired from the upper level of sears to my job to so if anybody was hurt and make sure. we had young children in there, because i work at cartoon cuts with the little kids and i ran in there and let them know what happened. and no one anyhknee.

we were in there in the back stair well. >> you went to the back stair well. >> were there children there? you mentioned the store would have had kids in it? >> we had 10-15 kids that i could count. infants and kids ranging from at the least probably two months to 5 or 6 or 7 years old and we had them outside in the back stair well. they warmed them the best to stay safe and barricaded the three doors that were there until the swat team announced who he was and tore down the dor. >> how did you stay calm? >> i couldn't breathe and i am

astha ma from running. i tried to call 911 and no one would answer. it was a dead silence and i called my mother and said i am okay, there is a shooting at the mall and i will let you know if anything happens and she rushed up there to make sure i was okay. >> you for the back stairwell and there over an hour and i understand that employees at that mall was trained in this sort of thing. did it help at all if you are. >> i had just got the job a week ago. i didn't know about it. i didn't know anything about it and my boss didn't say. and i am still in the training purposes there and there was nothing said to me. i hope soon enough we'll have more training happen so we can be more prepared. >> from the first mom and child and those able to get to to help

another person hurt. investigators say the portland shotter planned the attack and carried ammunition in the days leading up to the shooting. it is 12 days until american athletes compete in the winter olympics in russia. and now an updated travel alert. the state department urged anyone from our country to register in ad vance of traveling to the games. the united states is monitoring terrorist threats in the host city of sochi. general martin demspsey talked to the rushion counterparts about coping americans safe. and governor romney defended late night security to jimmy fallon. >> i would feel safe going to sochi. >> you would? >> yes, that didn't mean it is

for the family. they say they have continued to press to take her off life support because that is what she would have wanted. >> this is it a sad situation all the way around. we are relieved that eric muns on can move forward with the process of burying his wife. >> the judge ruled she is brain dead and doesn't have to be kept alive. >> there is a distinction tone brain dead and comatose. brain dead means you are legally dead. muns on is two weeks pregnant and earlier this week, the family said the fetus is abnormal and something to keep in mind. muns on and her husband is both paramedics and he said they had several conversations about what to do in a situation like this and she would be wanting to be taken off life support.

an update on the murder of a south carolina student. police arrested 19 year old justin singletovenlt this was outside of a dormitory in the university in orange berg. there is no word on what sparked the argument that led to the shooting. the university said the student was a engineer technology classmate who was on the football team. a woman narrowly escapes a bullet going straight to her head. it is all caught on camera it is our top story as we go across america. michigan, surveillance video showing two men walk in a super eight motel in lincoln park can one of them pulls out a gun on a desk clerk and punches her in the mouth and shot at her head.

police say there was pot in the pot luck. an elementary school teacher is facing serious criminal charges a cowing her of feeding co-workers marijuana. officers arrested theresa badger after a month long investigation. she took pot laced food to an event. several guests reported feeling ill including one hospitalized. and matters got worse from there. >> one of the attendees took the food home and their 15 year old juvenile ingested this food and became ill. >> badger confessed to the crime. she is now charged with three felony counts of poisoning. we'll talk woad for a moment.
