energy dependence? we'll analyze what this means for the economy and america. >> all right, very exciting. you can kind of feel it in the air. we'll begin with the kickoff, the big game about 24 hours away now and for law enforcement, it means it is no time to sit back and relax like the rest of the supersized security now in place. in what is being called unprecedented safety and security measures. dozens of federal, state and local agencies being deployed, keeping a close eye on the skies, the rails and even the field at metlife stadium. that's where we find rick live in east rutherford, new jersey. >> and the lights on at metlife tonight on super bowl eve, greg. pretty quiet. we expect it to be pretty raucous and security measures unprecedented.

lockdown all week and yesterday, the security got a bit of a test with some false reports or reports of white powder in envelopes in several area hotels near the stadium. the powder turned out to be harmless. that didn't stop authorities from responding. they had to treat it seriously. local, state and federal authorities and hazmat teams, the testing revealed that the materials were in fact harmless. no injuries. an unfortunate waste of time for authorities. again, something they hope they won't have to deal with tomorrow. this operation coordinated and monitored by the new command post built in a secret location near the stadium, where more than 100 agencies are gathered eye on the area to guarantee a safe and secure super bowl. the first ever held in the new york and new jersey area. >> there's been a lot of planning for a lot of months and years in making this super bowl successful. and that's in large part because

of the broad metropolitian area that we're in. it's more complex. being in the larger area where you're crossing over states and different jurisdictions, but everyone has been fantastic. and i can't say enough great things about the people that have been working on this. >> one reason why this is being called the first mass transit super bowl is because there are far fewer parking spaces available at metlife stadium than there would be for a mets or giants game. instead of 28,000 spots, there would just be 12,000 and most of the $150 parking passes have been sold out. most of the fans are going to be taking buses or trains to the stadium and you can expect a bit of a delay if you're trying to board a train. one of 15,000 expected to arrive. leave early and expect delays. >> start your tailgate party really, really early. tonight. >> good advice. >> good to see you. >> there was a deadly shooting near the campus of michigan

state university, a gunman killing one student and wounding another. the injured victim has treated and released from a hospital. now, police describing the suspect as a black man in his 20s. who was wearing tan pants, a black coat and black shoes. investigators say the shooting does not appear to be a random act. meanwhile, the fbi launching a massive man hunt after being, what's being called the biggest bank robbery in recent colorado history. these two right here, they're nicknamed trash talking bandits, targeting a suburban denver wells fargo bank last week. dominic, what's up? >> well, no sighting of them so far since they were last seen on january 21st. it was an extraordinary heist, very violent is what the police are saying it was.

they actually held handguns to the heads of some of the 40 clerks. wells fargo branch, in westminster, north of denver. appare apparently, within the space of two minutes, they were able to get across the counter, into the cash vault and run away with bags full of cash. there's been one report as much as half a million dollars taken. the fbi being quiet about the actual sum, for obvious reasons. but these are descriptions we've got. somewhere between 5'8" and 5'10". they think it could be a man and woman. not seen since the robbery. they actually fled the scene in a black jeep cherokee and weren't seen after they got in the vehicle nearby, which means they may have accomplices, but the real concern is of just how heavy handed they were with those weapons and this is what

the fbi is assayisaying about t. >> we're particularly concerned with the level of violence used by these criminals and the possibility of them acting again. resulting in serious injury to innocent persons. >> now, the fbi thinks that perhaps these people have been in jail and learned the tactics, which means they could be somewhat unstable and that actually, they could injure somebody if that do strike again. a reward of $35,000 put up by wells fargo for the identification and prosecution, the police throwing in an additional 2,000, but no indication of the fbi telling fox news there is no indication of where they've actually gone and who indeed it is that could be helping them if indeed they have accomplices. the man hunt underway. back to wrou. >> let's hope they can catch them before aget a chance the harm anybody else. thank you for the update. a disappointing end to this week's first round of peace talks ending syria's bloody

civil war. leaders from assad's government and the opposition emerging from the conference in geneva with no real agreement in sight or hopes of a possible cease fire. jennifer has more from washington. >> just one day after u.s. brokered peace talks in geneva failed to achieve any progress on syria, the syrian army continued dropping explosive filled barrel bombs on rebel held civilian areas advancing in aleppo. one man pointed to the charred bodies of his relatives and said this is what the political process looks like. the british observatory for human rights reports that 1900 syrians were killed during the ten-day peace talks, including more than 450 civilians. >> my children, adam and maria, have not eaten since yesterday. they awaken me in the morning s saying, i'm hungry. i'm hidden because i'm hungry.

there's nothing i can do. >> in aleppo, a 14 month old girl was pulled from the rubble after being burieded alive. she is among the lucky ones who survived. the us navy is still heading toward the mediterranean to pick up and destroy assad's chemical weapons components. even though officials confirmed that assad had delivered less than 5% of his stockpile and appears to be stalling. john kerry at a defense conference in munich asked for the russian's help. >> together, we need to keep the pressure on the assad regime to stop making excuses and fulfill syria's promises and obligations and meet the u.n. deadlines. >> the syrian peace talks are supposed to resume on february 10th in the u.s., but so far, the assad regime has not committed to sending a delegation. >> thanks. a new state department report giving hope to supporters

of the keystone pipeline. the reviews saying there won't be any major environmental worries with its construction, but environmentalists say they are not backing down from their fight to block the project, which would bring oil to the u.s. from canada. now, it's just, it just needs president obama's approval. peter is live in washington with the latest. >> the main reason the state department doesn't believe building the keystone xl pipeline is going to accelerate climate change is because their research shows that crude oil in canada is going to be produced whether that pipeline is built or not and there's a possibility that if it is not built, oil in canada is going to be shipped out by train. >> this is one pipeline project and canada's certainly not going to be leaving their greatest valued resource in the ground. >> in the end, it is president obama who has the power to give the keystone xl pipeline a final thumb's up or down, but the

white house says he is not rushing to make that call. >> these issues are complex. they require the rigorous approach and assessments that are being undertaken by the state department and that is what it is. >> and now, the president's base is publicly split on supporting the pipeline. one local opponent is california democratic senator, barbara boxer, who said quote, my biggest concerns continue to be the serious health impact on communities and the dangerous carbon pollution that comes from tar, sand, oil. but in the same party, the other side offered by democratic louisiana senator, mary land rue, to act swiftly and give final approval to put these people to work and good paying jobs and refineries in louisiana

and texas can keep refining this energy from canada. now, one thing that everybody on both sides seems to agree on is that the construction of the keystone xl would create thousands of construction jobs and that is the reason many republicans say they support it. >> and one other thing is for sure. that oil from canada is going to go somewhere. thanks a lot. fox news alert. new jersey governor chris christie is hitting back against new allegations over the bridge closure scandal. fox news obtaining ab e-mail from the governor's office. christie reiterating he had no involvement. this after a "new york times" reported that an attorney from a former official for david wildstein claims that evidence exists that christie was aware.

didn't say what kind of evidence. christie's letter blasting wildstein is former ally, childhood friend saying he created a quote culture of fear. we'll keep you posted on this story as we get more information. we talk about weather now because a powerful storm dumping heavy snow across the midwest with winter storm warnings now in effect for several counties in illinois and indiana. while police in chicago, they're warning drivers of possible whiteout conditions. we're live in our weather center now and you're saying that weather is headed this way and the timing could mean some tricky travel for the folks trying to leave town to get back home leaving the super bowl. >> on monday. monday morning. yes. watching this very carefully. it's two separate systems. this one bringing heavy snow across the great lakes towards the northeast and then we're going to watch this developing low pressure center across the gulf over the next 12 to 24 hours, but winter weather

advisories for many states dipping as far south as texas as well as new mexico. even have a freezing rain advisory for southeastern portions of oklahoma. so, let's watch this as this system develops bringing snow to north texas, arkansas, mid mississippi river valley and then what happens on monday morning. 6:00 a.m., moving in towards philadelphia, pittsburgh, new york city, long island, new jersey. going to get that game in. fortunately, but just hours after wards, we're going to be dealing with this storm system making a mess for the drive in on monday. and then you look at the precipitation. a lot of rain, heavy rain, but we could see on order of 6 to 12 inches of snow where you see that blue shaded area and that includes the new york city area. so we're going to continue to really fine tune this forecast. and we will get that super bowl game in tomorrow, but people have to be prepared. if you're traveling monday, there's going to be airport delays and closures. >> i thought you were going to say that, but at least the game is going to be okay for the

absolute record low. take a look at this new fox news poll. 36% favor at a whopping 59%. almost 60% do not. let's bring in our political panel. both fox news contributors. the senate democrats, it's very interesting. they supported obamacare for the longest time. now, all of a sudden, they're beginning to hear from angry constituents over higher policies, lost policies. canceled policies. lost doctors and hospitals and they are experiencing an epipha epiphany. what do you make of it? >> i think what you're going to see is a rerun of the 1994 wave election. democrats took back the house for the first time in 40 years., when hillary clinton, then the first lady of the united states,

tried behind closed doors to ram through what we might call obamacare one. and the public didn't want it and reacted. fast forward and the fallout now that obamacare is in place, with the polls declining in the latest fox news poll, you're going to see fallout from that reverberate, where the democrats could lose the senate. that's why they're meeting behind closed doors with the president and his team to see what can be done. i don't think much can because the president is not going to water down his position. >> not only the -- don't campaign for me, but they're openly and aggressively criticizing him of everything from his health care law to energy and regulatory policies, which some regard as antieconomic government growth. >> no. quite frankly, this is so

typical of politicians. they will throw their party under the bus to save their own careers. we saw this happen with democrats and republicans, when america all of a sudden didn't agree with us being in iraq and wanted the troops home. a lot of information came out that had voted for that. i disagree with cal and i know a lot of my democrats get angry with me, but i'm a realist and i believe that the house majority will remain republican and i believe the senate majority will remain democrat. i don't think we're going to see a huge shake up there. >> cal, republicans are taking advantage by launching ads reminding voters of the ties between president obama and democrats. especially ads in those states where democrats supported obamacare, but the public isn't exactly ennam orred of republicans. >> the favorablety is slightly

of the union address on tuesday, the president made it very clear that in his mind, income inequality is going to be a major theme for him. he wants democrats to be a theme this year, but take a look at this fox news poll. it shows that people really don't care at all. about income inequality and they don't think income should be involved. they care about jobs. even moderate democrats are saying you're chasing the wrong issue the same way with health care. do they have a fair point? >> first of all, it's the economy, stupid. not calling you stupid, of course, greg, just a phrase. and that is it. one thing i will agree with cal on is republicans especially said let us be in charge of this. let us take over the house and we'll create jobs. we haven't seen the creation of jobs. we need our congress to work together, but the president does have tied into -- >> democrat control. >> tied into income inquality.

we have two areas, one of which helps with jobs to increase the minimum wage. we always need people on both side of the aisle to look to people writing the checks and say, stop outsourcing the jobs. keep the jobs in the u.s. stop closing factories in the u.s. we were a leader in manufacturing. we can be again and in other areas and we need to remember that the backbone of this nation is the middle class. the majority of the population and the polls show that americans do support all the president is pushing. >> i will say the house has passeded a lot of stuff, but harry reid won't consider it for a vote, so you're kind of stuck there. send your letters to harry reid. >> thank you very much. i also suffer from income inequality. >> talk to the big guy about that. thanks very much. >> and i like cal, but you know, col colon oscopy doctors, my friend

jerusalem. >> with time running out on a self-imposed deadline to reach an israeli palestinian peace deal, secretary of state john kerry arrived in munich, germany, saying today that he's still optimistic an agreement can be reached by the end of april. u.s. officials say the agreement would address the core issues that have plagued past negotiations, including borders, security, refugees and jewish settlements, but after months of talks, israelis and palestinians remain far apart. the biggest issues are the borders of a potential palestinian state and its impact on the security of israel and the future of israeli settlements in the current palestinian territories. while kerry remains optimistic, he has warned the status quo is not an option and the failure could lead to boycott of israel. the public overwhelmingly supports an agreement that incleeds two states, but so far, politicians on both sides have

the opec cartel. never thought we'd see the day we'd surpass saudi arabia and other nations. could this only help the u.s. economy lowering prices and so forth? >> i remember sitting in those lines with my father when i was a kid, but the answer i believe is yes. this notion of hydraulic fracking, a combination of water and sand injected at a high pressure level to find oil and gas right here in the united states i think the nothing but create jobs, which is a very important topic as we both know. i think that it's ultimately lowers oil and gas prices so it's less and we are less dependent on the middle east for the oil and gas that we need as a country. but environmentalists vigorously

oppose fracking, notwithstanding the fact that the epa and studies in 30 different states have all deemed it to be safe. it does not contaminate ground water. there have been two million fracking jobs, not a single case in which ground water has been contamina contaminated. >> there lies why i support the pipeline and the notion of fracking in great detail and let me highlight that you know, in the state of pennsylvania, for example, where they are using this process, i mean, we're creating jobs, greg, that are on average, i've look eed at the research, $62,000 a year jobs. these are real, necessary jobs to help stimulate the economy. get the job market back going. and they're all positive. by the way, the administration has been looking in detail at this fracking topic for about

close to 2,000 days. it's time that we look at the environmentalist and the regulatory environment and realize that the latest study suggests that it doesn't really pollute the environment like the environmentalists are trying to highlight. >> right, and in fact, the more you frack, the less you rely on some of the coal fired plants. but we still import six million barrels a day from other nations. if we opened up offshore drilling, could that eliminate all of the foreign purchases, in fact, making the u.s. totally independent and even a seller to other nations? >> ultimately, that's the goal and i think that you know, it would be so nice to see this renaissance of you know, energy independence and i think that we're going down the right path of having this for example, this

keystone pipeline implemented because i'd really love to see you know, us being exactly what you just highlighted. a less dependent country on saudi arabia or venezuela and other areas of the world. >> yeah, and the just a couple of days ago, the state department released this exhaustive study. it says there is no significant impact on the environment from the keystone pipeline. it says in fact, the pipeline will reduce admissions as opposed to trucking the oil by trains and trucks. transporting it by trains an trucks. >> it's true, greg. i know it's a great point to highlight because i've looked at the data and the environmental concerns and you're right. the most recent study viewers should know suggests that there is not the degree of contamination that they

potentially highlight, so if in fact that's the case, i think it could be a very big win for the u.s. economy and a great vibrational effect throughout the job market, the equity markets, tax dollars being stimulated, so this is you know, a very interesting topic. >> even the current energy sector it seems to be on board. a few days ago, he said we were producing so much so quickly. we don't have enough pipeline infrastructure beyond the keystone to move the product out, so building not really keystone, but other pipelines, would create much needed jobs. >> much needed jobs. i think and again, which is also important, lower expenses at the pump for us and more skilled and unskilled labor. people being put back to work. the sentiments in people's households being stimulated in a positive way. i think we need that jump-start in the u.s. to get things back working again.

republican candidate alan levine, he is running for the house of representatives in four states. at the same time. the states are georgia, michigan, minnesota and hawaii and apparently, it's completely legal, but could his unique strategy work? let's find out now. joining me is susan ethridge. good to see you on this saturday. >> hey, you know, i'm surprised my congressman, our old frentd, you knew him, henry waxman, just announced he's retiring. this is a good district down here. may we have the best weather. >> certainly do. >> we've heard of the old saying don't put all your eggs in one basket, but really, is this good strategy? >> no.

we least get to have some fun. paul ryan for instance when he's running for vice president also ran for house of representatives which has allowed his state to hold on to his seat. while voting early and often may help somebody get elected, running everywhere is not going to work. i mean, it's a technicality that you know, he doesn't have to be a resident of the district when he runs, but only when he gets elected. it's his high water mark today with you showing his picture on fox news. i just think this is as good as it's going to get. >> i think you are right and this is probably better than he expected. this guy, though he doesn't have to pick a race until he wins a primary and if he could win the primary in all four of the states. right? >> yes and you and i could be

the you know, write in candidates. well, i'm not going to say this about you because you should be, for miss america, but really, are we holding our breath waiting for that moment? you should be it, but not me. i mean, this is, you know, i like to laugh about it, but in a way, it kind of makes a mockery of the system. the whole idea of a representative democracy is that we have people who are live among us at least, some of the time or move to our districts and represent us in the congress. and the idea that you get this guy who's just picking and choosing, here's the seat, here's the district. boy, they got on open seat there, i think i'll try it there. really don't think he enhances people's respect for the democratic process. >> like you say, that's exactly what i was thinking. it's legal, unorthodox, but it does make a mockery of the system. do you think some of the states might change the rules?

>> yeah, i wouldn't be surprised to see. i have to tell you, when i first saw this story, that kind of election a decade, that can't be. and then i read down and i said, well, these particular states, he had checked and it appears at least at this point it's legal, but i think the reason no legislature or state or national party have addressed this, have passed a law that anything stupid someone could think of to do, we would have even more ridiculous laws. >> all four of the districts he's running in are districts in which the incumbent is not seeking open terms. they are open races. modern day carpet bagger. nobody's going to take him seriously. doesn't this just boil down to self-promotion? >> yes. now, a lot of politics is
