a fox urgent. new jersey governor chris christie on attack against the accusers and the scandal that brewed and reached a fever pitch when explosive new allegations came out. now with 700 words, the governor is making it clear he is ready to fight. fox news obtained an e-mail sent bite governor's office. five things you should know about the bombshell that is not a bombshell and all of it having to do about the closing of the lanes in the george washington bridge in new jersey. you may know by now the governor is accused to being part of

a scheme. he has denied that and now this long e-mail. eric shawn is here as the story is breaking now. the governor's office accused the new york times of sloppy reporter and a port authority former boss that it talks about in terms of a history there. >> it is it an unusual e-mail and blasts the claims that governor christie knew about the george washington closures as they were happening and the governor denied that. and the accusation came from the lawyer from this man david willedstein and a former christie ally. and he oversaw the closings and he took the fifth before the assembly committee that is investigating the scandal. and the lawyer claimed that evidence exists that the governor knew about the lane closures at the time.

in the e-mail obtained by fox news. the governor's office said not so. the new york times bomb shebl and not a bombshell. a media fire storm was set you have by sloppy reporter from the new york times. and there was a letter alleging that evidence exist. and forced to change the lead almost immediately the times was round roundly critized. he learned about the closure from the media. and the e-mail attacks wildstein who is tumultuous and untrustworthy and get a load of this. as a 16-year-old kid he sued over a local school board election. he was publicly accused by a high school social school teacher as deceptive behavior. he was an anonymous blogger and

he used other people's names without telling them. bottom line. david wildstein will do going to save david wildstein. >> this is from the u.s. attorney. and a slew of material that is looking into the scandal. all of that material is due in trenton and expect public hearings to start next week. >> and the timing of this coming on the heels of this. and now the governor is fully epigauged with a lot of information about wildstein. what is their history? >> the governor tried to distance the history. they went to livingston high school and wildstein was in a different year than the governor. and it was the eyes and ears at the port authority and a political ally and the governor distanced himself from

wildstein. they were really not friends and he hadn't talked to him much. and he was an athlete and had no idea what david was doing at the time and didn't have connection. this may be part of the investigation as e-mails that are subpeona will come out. and the e-mails were redakted and we don't know what was said on a lot of this material and we may find out. >> this purported evident what could it be? >> the letter from the lawyer doesn't indicate that. e-mails or stuff they have or recorded phone calls. he didn't indicate that in the e-mail and it is important in the letter to indicate that the lawyer never claimed that governor christie knew that the closings were part of a pay back plot. the letter only claiming that so- called evident exist that the governor knew about the

closing at the time. and they are heatedly denying tonight. >> it is it interesting. i have a printout from the e-mail from the new jersey governor's office. it really is spelled out with bullet points and very easy to point and makes a lot of interesting argument. you have to telegraph ahead over the next few days of what is coming. >> on monday, the deadline at 5:00 for the subpeona documents and they will not be handed in. and the lawyers for the 20 or so organizations and former officials and current officials of govern goff christie's administration. they are subpeona and the lawyers have and asked for a did lay. and 5:00 p.m. it heads to a public hearing within several weeks. >> a strong rebuttal and coming from his office. erain shawn, thank you. >> of course.

>> and a big question hanging over washington, one step closer to being answered will the key stone pipeline being built and more critically what about the jobs it could bridge. the state department finds that the project does not pose major environmental concerns and democrats are urging president obama to sign off on the plan. and the reason is the jobs. 40,000 of them could be created to build the pipeline which when finished would ship 830,000 per day from the tar sand to the refineries on the gulf coast. canada is asking washington to hurry up. or they may simply sell the oil to asia instead. peter, why doesn't the state department think that building the key stone pipeline will hurt the environment? >> reporter: the main reason whether it is built.

the oil sands are going to be developed and that oil will need to be shipped out and possibly by train if no poip line. and exporting by rail ups the chance of a spill the pipe line is okay. >> canada is not going to love the valued resource in the ground. >> reporter: it is up to the president to give final thumbs up or down on key stone xl. the white house said he's giving it a lot of thought. >> the issues are complex, they require sort of rigorous approach and that is undertaken by the state department. and you know, that is what it is. >> reporter: the canadian ambassador to the u.s. predicted after the news came out pipeline politics could play big in upcoming american mid- term

election. >> pipeline politics. and law makers are reacting to the new state department report in which way? >> reporter: the republicans support the construction of key stone xl because of the construction jobs. democrats are split. barbara boxer said the health impact on communities and the pollution. but senator mary landrue said this. i urge the administration to act swiftly and give final approval so we can put people to work in good paying jobs right away and our refineries can refine the energy from our friendly ally canada. mitch mcconnell said the key stone pipeline is the largest shovel ready project in america but again it is up to

>> a shooting near a university campus and police are on the hunt for a gunman near michigan state university. east lansing police say two students were not in their apartment a mile from campus. one of them a 20-year-old man died and the other is recovering. the police say it does not appear to be a random act. others living in the complex said they heard arguing before it happen. >> we heard screaming and we looked at each other and brushed it off. and then we heard the ambulance and two kids crying and wiping their hands in the snow. >> the university sent text

messages and emergency alerts to students and warning them about the shooting and the campus was never shut down. >> the fbi is joining the search for a bank- robbing duo that agents named the trash- talking. and the suspects showed aggressive brehafr. and using vile language as they held the guns to customers and employee's heads and no word on how much money they took. investigators say it was the largest bank heist in recent colorado history. dom? >> reporter: yes, the biggest in colorado history in recent times and as much as 500,000 was taken and the fbi not confirming that. it is an extraordinary heist and happen in a space of two minutes and those two robbers getting in the bank and cash vault and getting inside and putting that trash in the trash bags and one

she is in the united states. and the court is in italy and the judge is ready to give insight in the latest guilty verdict. the judge admitting he struggled with the decision and he and the jury agreed to amanda knox and guilty of murdering meredith kercher in 2007 and the juriy came up with the motive and outlined in the written explanation of the verdict and that will be released in the next few months. amanda knox is here and she does not plan to go back to italy and they will have to drag her kicking and screaming. >> and lawyers for the man accused of killing people in a movie theater. he will ask a fox news.comreporter to reveal the sources. this is something we are reporting. one of our co-workers jana

winter refused to turn over the names and sources of a story that alleged attacker james holmes sent before the attack. new york's top court sided with winters saying she did not have to reveal her sources. holmes went in a movie theater in colorado, july 2012 and opened fire who were watching a midnight screening of the newly released batman movie. 12 died and more than 70 wounded. holmes was in court this week as the judge is considering whether he is or is not legally insane. >> a volcano that was quiet for a very long time is now suddenly active and a foreign government must find a way to move 38,000 people to safe ground. it is our top story around the word in 80 seconds.
