schoolsñr closed down of cops found an escaped killer's getway care inññr indiana. now policexd are warning to look out for the convict who is so desperate say cops believe he has already proven he'll put innocent people at risk. the convict was mickal elliott. serving a life sentence for murdering four peopleà years ago and then burned their house down. prison officials in michigan said he made holes in not one but two fences at a ma.asus security lockup and his white kitchen uniform may have helped him hide inçó the snowfall polie say he used a knife or box cutter to kidnap a woman and steal her car. he drove more thanñr 100 miles before stopping in indiana to get gas. that's when the woman, who he was holding hostage, called 9-1-1 from a cell phone she kept hidden. then she made a run for it. locked herself in the gas station restroom until the

indiana. south of where heñ)hqá(p(ed and kidnapped the woman. the them said he is wearing black cargo pandsr and they stopped for gas. that's when she locked herself in the bathroom and called 9-1-1. now, the reason for the lockdown is because that is where the victim's 2004 red jeep liberty was located.ñi it was jut about ten miles from the gas station. a strong indicator that elliott realized the jeep would be quickly identified and dumpedded. elliott, 5'8", 165 pounds, 40 years ago. convicted for the murders of four people in a scheme to steal drug money. he subsequently burned all of the bodies. this is a bad guy. the authorities say if you encounter him, call 9-1-1, don't be a here. >> he got out during the playing of the super bowl. right? >> he did and the authorities can only speculate if that was

down,çó investors are suffering after a horrible january. the dow tumbled more than 5% in the first month of the year, the worst january in five years. some experts say they market may fall farther, and today we're getting a hint of that. jerry willis is in from the fox businessñi network. we already had concerns aboutñi china, already had concerns about emerging markets and concerns because the fed is not buying up as much. today we get manufacturing and housing starts. it's just like an avalanche. >> there's noñi good news.çó we all blame industrial production in this country. that wasn't positive.çó we didn't likeñi those numbers t it's a piling on of the bad news. the federal reserve nowçó pullig away the punch bowl. a lot of people are worried about that and here's why. those emerging markets are doing worse, poorer, because of that, believe it or not, because people were pouring into emerging markets because they can get a good yield. now they'rir not. that creates a lot of concerns and dislocations. you saw the earnings numbers. not that great.ñi so people don't have a lot to look forward to here.

>> it's a big day new jersey politics. some top aides to the new jersey governor chris christie have less than two hours to turn overñi documents to state officials who are investigating the george washington bridge scandal. lawmakersçó subpoenaed 18 people and told them to respond by 5:00 p.m. today. investigators have already begui receiving many of the documents and say they extended the deadline for some select people. one aide who got a subpoena quit on friday, may have heard about this. her lawyer says she had been considering this move for months. fox news can't confirm that. new jersey lawmakers say the documents have demanded that the -- the ones they demanded could helpñi determine whether they'll ask the republican governor to testify about the scandal. chris christie repeatedly denied he knew anything about this, that staffers closed the lans as a political payback.

at david wildstein, and really, beating him up pretty good. is it your sense he is the most trouble here for the christie administration? >> well, the fact that christie responded with ad hominem attacks against the person does not bode well. he didn't necessarily address the substance of the accusations that came out on friday as much as he did address the character of the person who made the accusations. so, obviously he knows that maybe there's something more to come. once these documents get revealed we'll have a much clearer picture, but speaking of going after people hard, it is clear that democrats smell blood in the water here, looking at chris christie. they see him obviously as a pretty g big threat for 2016, and if they can take him out early they will. the story is not going away, and at the same time chris christie is down but not yet out. >> no. by way of observation, the accusation was that chris christie knew about the bridge shutdown during the time when it was shutdown, and the response from governor christie and his group was, he didn't know about

21 minutes past the hour. happy super bowl monday, less than 24 hours after the seahawks -- oh -- punished the broncos in a blowout in new york-new jersey, and while fans may have witnessed a trouncing, those at the stadium enjoyed surprisingly mild weather. i don't remember a super bowl sunday that was this warm in new york and new jersey. people were in shorts and t-shirts. it was only the mid-40s but that's hot around here. so the weather was nice, and then -- i don't know. then people started getting stuck. this is the milieu of people -- the train station.

we do trains here. we're pretty good at it. we understand when it's crowded you stand there like sardines and move along with the pack, penguin style. but this is bad. took me an hour and a half to get to the stadium from penn station. new jersey transit is great but i realize i'm in the minority because people waited in the see caucus station in new jersey for hours and it was misery on ice, and then speaking of ice, they said yesterday morning the would be an inch to three inches of snow in the tri-state area around new york city. instead we're pushing a foot now. by football time last night they started to say, well, five to eight, and then six to ten. we got it. this was this morning at metlife, and this is metlife stadium yesterday. you think people whined about what happened yesterday? whining about the train, about the lines, about the -- whining and whining, and the prices and the whiners. my god. shut up. imagine had it been like this?

nationwide and a lot of those are in this region, new york, d.c., philadelphia. a real mess, and weather not the only factor -- not a factor yesterday, but crowding at the train stations was. primarily for fans taking new jersey transit trains to the stadium. officials were expecting 12 to 15,000 to ryan the train. 28,000 people took the train, including shepard smith. more than 30,000 people tack trains home. they were posting signs encouraging fans to stay longer after the game is over. they were making announcements can, but transit officials called this mass transit super bowl a success. >> there was queue there, took us a couple of hours to get all of the people out of there but the reality is that we moved more people than we have ever moved by orders of magnitude. >> 40% of the fans took trains to the stadium. 22,000 of those tickets were

hours earlier. the witness says he saw philip seymour hoffman withdraw large amounts of cash from an atm. hundreds of friends and family members and fans for that matter, have gathered outside his apartment to mourn the actor's death in the heavy snow today. fellow actors took to twitter. he had three children with his partner of 15 years, and young children as well. julie has the latest on the reaction and is live in the west village. a lot of disturbing details today, julie. >> absolutely. we all heard about the needle in his arm. if that wasn't bad enough. the 15 plastic bags that contain heroin and prescription medicine, which includes drugs for antianxiety, muscle relaxants and blood pressure meds but i'm told that's just the tip of the iceberg. his body discovered yesterday morning bay friend who grew concerned apparently after being unable to reach him after he failed to pick up his kids. his body was removed seven hours later in the evening. hoffman is long known to have

battled with addiction, which began as a teenager, but he did remain sober for over 20 years until last year when he checked into rehab for heroin abuse. his suspected cause of death. among the many celebrities to express sympathy on twitter include recovering alcoholic, rob lowe, who writes, philip seymour hoffman's sad, untimely passing has me angry. i want more great work from him! i want less destruction from drugs and alcohol. a statement from julianne moore who says -- she costarred with hoffman in boogie nights, said i feel so fortunate to have known and worked with the extraordinary philip seymour hoffman and am deadly saddened by his passing. his family says we're devastated by the loss of our believed beloved phil. he actually went to the two-bedroom apartment after he and his partner of 15 years had separated in october. they live in the family's $4 million home a few blocks away. he rented this $10,000 a month

and what could happen if these men are identified, what can they be charged actual selling of controlled substances? also something more serious, such as secondary manslaughter which is known as involuntary manslaughter. can their acts amount to criminal negligence? which means they acted so recklessly that caused the death of another, and that could be told depending on how this investigation surfaces. >> you mentioned recklessly in 2012, in minneapolis, a drug dealer was convicted of murder in the third going after something like this happened. and on top of that, we now know, having watch this and been reading up about this, that there's a very rough strain of heroin going around that i'm told heroin addicts knew all about. >> right. right. my understanding based on this case with philip seymour hoffman, is that there were is a ace of spades and a potent type of heroin found in his apartment when officers conducted a

search. that's another issue. with that in mind i want to add it's very difficult to prop these type of drug induced homicides. it has to go with causation. how do you prove the actual drugs he ingested were the ones sole to him by the drug dealer and how else do you prove the heroin caused his death and not something else, perhaps a combination of drugs. so the toxicology report will be crucial. >> anna young with us from san diego. you're right about that. when you get the word -- they found more than 50 bags of heroin in the apartment. how do you know what was just a horrible ending. the government has not responded to complaints from roughly 20,000 people who used the troubled healthcare web site. that's according to the "washington post" winds. it's reported those people have appealed the government, asking it to fix the mistakes. some users say the webs charged them too much, steered them into the wrong insurance programs or denied them coverage altogether.

the fed says they're working to address these appeals and many are related to previous problems that engineers fixed. and they also say, i'm quoting, we're invoting those customers back to healthcare.gov where they can reset and successfully finish their applications without needing to complete the appeals process. wendell is at the white house. what did the white house say to this? >> press secretary jay carney says what we're seeing is the leftover from the bad old days of the health care.gov web site rollout when practically nothing was working and few people were able to complete applications, and while the president says that things are up to species now, this is 22,000 more people who apparently fell through the can cracks and are looking for obamacare to deliver. carney says the centers for medicare and medicaid services is working on the problem. >> they're fining a number of the problems here are related to the earlier system errors that occurred because of the problems

there is breaking news coming in from vancouver, washington, "associated press" is reporting one person has been shot at a work place. according to the local nbc news television station there police say it appears that an employee at a benjamin moore paint store shot his or her boss. the station reports people who live and work in the area received reverse 9-1-1 calls asking them to stay inside while police investigate. when we get more we'll bring it to you. we told you earlier about the winter weather stranding thousands and thousands of folks across the mid-atlantic and the nieves, including people trying to leave after the football game yesterday. here's the storm's current path.
