7:00 pm
. thanks for watching, everybody, see you tomorrow night at 9:00. welcome to hannity. tonight we have a jam-packed edition of the show. america, are you ready? let's roll. president obama blames fox news for all of his administration scandals. >> these kinds of things keep on surfacing because you and your tv station will promote them. >> yeah, yeah, i liked it all. >> phillip seymore hoffman dead at 46. >> he was one of the greats.
7:01 pm
it's the most talked about commercial from last night's big game. budweiser released some additional footage, we'll show you to you. and it's jay leno's last week, we'll look at the illustrious career of the king of late night. hannity starts right here, right now. bill o'reilly sat down with president obama to -- did what he does best and he tried to change the subject. >> what some people are saying is that the irs was used at a local level in cincinnati, maybe other places -- >> absolutely wrong. >> how do you know that because we don't know what happened there. >> that's not what happened. again, we had multiple hearings
7:02 pm
on this. these kinds of things keep on surfacing? part because of you and your the station will promote them. >> and that's not all. president obama didn't just take a swipe at fox news, he refused to give an answer about the night four people were killed during the benghazi attack. >> did he tell you, secretary panetta that it was a terrorist attack? >> he didn't use the word terror? >> in the heat of the moment, what folks are focused on, who -- >> did he tell you it was a terror attack. >> bill, i'm answering your question. what he said we have got an attack on our compound, we don't know yet who's doing it. by definition, when somebody is attacking our compound, that's an act of terror. >> let me start, i thought this was a really good interview.
7:03 pm
it's very difficult as you know to interview a president. you got to respect the office, you can't let the president run out the clock. and i thought bill was really able to strike that balance, so stylistically, i really like how he did it. >> the thing that amazes me, is that one, obama agreed to do it. that he agreed to do it with you. that's about the last thing obama would do unless we wants to decide to get out of his office. oh, come on and still don't wait for that christmas invitation. i'm not so sure people want to hear about politics just before they go to see the biggest game of the year. >> what do you think about this? he's never answered these questions, that's what made this so profound and he was irritated by having to answer them. >> 10, 15, 20, 30 hearings in the congress and they haven't come up with anything. >> can i give you an example?
7:04 pm
on benghazi, here's what i i would like to know, before ambassador stevens asked for extra security, it wasn't given. and then we have footage that it was no spontaneous attack. and they did it before an election. that, to me is deceitful. >> politics played a big role in how they dealt with this. it's not an epic scandal. congress of the united states, if they can't find the smoking gun here, i think it's time to move on. >> why didn't they give the support during the attack? why didn't they give the ambassador the support he asked for before it ever happened? why did they lie about it afterwards? see, there's a pattern in all of these, and i see lying and cover-up on a lot of these fronts. if a president lies, should that
7:05 pm
matter to you, even though you support him politically? >> i'm not the dalai lama, i can't answer what if he did, what if he did what. >> let me give you an example. they first blamed the irs on rogue agents in cincinnati. then they went on the hill and they said no, we were being directed from washington. >> that's a direct lie, isn't it? >> there's possibly a way to push it outside of the main political arena. as i said before, the irs scandal, and that is a scandal, when they target right wing groups, now i'm -- >> you really don't like that. >> no, not like that. my biggest fear is they're going to try to even it out by coming after liberals. i think that, look, in all of these things, have they dealt with it directly in a straight forward manner?
7:06 pm
no, there was politics involved and their strategy is to move on. >> i think the american people need to know -- look, more americans now do not believe the president is honest and trust worthy. i thought this was a really good exchange. was the president telling the american people the truth on the issue of health care? this was at the very beginning of the interview. >> was it the biggest mistake of your presidency to tell the american people over and over if you like your insurance you can keep your insurance? >> you've got a long list of my mistakes, but this is one that i regret and i said i regretted in part because we put in a grandfather clause in the original law saying that in fact you were supposed to be able to keep it. >> that's in the past. but isn't that the biggest mistake? >> wilbill, as i said, you were very generous in saying that i looked pretty good, i tried to focus not on the fumbles but on
7:07 pm
the next win. >> november 3, 2013, "wall street journal," edescribed that the white house internally was debating whether they should tell the american people the truth, correct the record about if you like your planni, you ke like your doctor you keep it, and that you're going to save money. they made the political decision not to do it. is that a lie? >> it is a -- let me put it this way. did i think that obama believed that there was more to the grandfather clause than there turned out to be, i don't think he expected all those insurance companies to change those policies. somebody dropped the ball politically, because they had to know that there was going to be a lot of these policies cancelled. why didn't somebody tell him to stop using that line? it's going to come back to haunt
7:08 pm
you, you can't get away with these things. >> wasnit wasn't rogue agencies cincinnati. this was -- they knew in july of 20 10 that a lot of people would lose their health care, millions, but they didn't tell us. that to me is a pattern of deception and lies, that i don't think i have seen in my lifetime from the presidency. >> you're old enough to remember richard nixon, i don't think this compares to that. all of these have been fraught with bad decisions, bad political guidance, yes. it has not -- and he's paid a price for it. look at his poll numbers are very, very low. this did not come without a price for obama and i think frankly the people around him failed him as much as he may have failed the american people. >> he almost seems to be above
7:09 pm
being asked questions, very thin skinned and why does fox news bother him so much? >> i have been down there and listened to -- i can tell you. >> give me some insight. >> i don't think i could get an invitation and i have been in liberal politics for years. there's a really strong dislike, and i would say that you, my friend, are right there on the top of the list. when glen beck was here, he was number one, then when beck left, you inherited the crown. >> when you get invited to the christmas party, will you take me as your guest? >> how about this, i'll take you as my date, you're going to have to get a disguise. i've been telling you, i love you, i love you, but they don't love you. >> later, the one and the only, broadway joe namath, he's here, i'll ask him about yesterday's
