under president obama. >> one of my points on the factor is that poverty is driven by dissolution of the american family, that is the prime mover, okay? on your watch, median income has dropped 17% among working families in this country. that's not a record. it's not all your fault. part of this was this terrible recession. we all know that everybody knows that. >> okay. >> but 72% of babies in african-american community are born out wedlock now. why isn't there a campaign by you and the first lady to address that problem very explicitly? >> actually, bill, we address it explicitly all the time. i will send you at least 10 speeches i have made since i have been president talking about the importance of men taking responsibility for their children, talking about the importance of young people delaying gratification. talking about the importance

of when it comes to child rearing, paying child support, spending time with your kids, reading with them. so, whether it's getting publicity or not is a whole different question. >> but i don't see the pressure from the federal government to go in and say this is wrong. this is killing futures of babies and children. >> well, first of all, i have just got to say, bill, we talk about it all the time. we will continue to talk about it. we are convening, for example, philanthropists and business people, city by city who are interested in addressing these kinds of problems at the local level. there is an economic component to it as well though. >> sure. >> what's interesting when you look at what's going on right now, you are starting to see in a lot of white working class homes similar problems when men can't find good work, when the economy is shutting ladders of opportunity off from people, whether they are black, white, hispanic, it doesn't matter, then that puts pressure as well on the home. so you have got an

somehow label as liberal. think about it, social security, medicare,. >> but you are pay into that it's the freebies that are are the problem. >> what freebies are we talking about? welfare actually is worth less now than it was 20 -- it's worth less than it was under ronald reagan. >> take a look at the disability explosion. it's insane. the work place isn't any more dangerous now than it was 20 years ago. it's through the roof. >> the point is we have not massively expanded the welfare state, that's just not true. when you take a look at it actually the levers of support that we provide to folks who are willing to work hard are not that different than they were 30 years ago or 40 years ago or 50 years ago. you and i took advantage of certain things. i don't know but i got loans to go to college. >> i painted houses i didn't get loans. >> i painted houses during the summer, too. it still wasn't enough. so, so my point is that that is not a nanny state, that's investment in the future

story. my interview with president obama. the live super bowl massive coverage one of the few times the president has been asked pointed questions about controversial events. i began with the rollout of obamacare. >> when did you know there were going to be problems with those computers? >> well, i think we all anticipated there would be glitches because any time you have got technology, a new program rolling out there are going to be some glitches. i don't think i anticipated or anybody anticipated the degree of the problems with the web site. the good news is that the right away we decided how are we going to fix it? it got fixed within a month and a half. it was up and running and now it's working the way it's supposed to and we signed up about 3 million people. >> i don't know about that because last week there was an associated press poll of people who actually went to the web site and only 8% of them feel that it's working well, working well. why didn't you fire sebelius, the secretary in charge of this? because i mean she had to know offer all those years and all that money it wasn't going to work. >> my main priority right now is making sure that it delivers for the american people. >> so the president wouldn't answer the question about

firing secretary sebelius. just wouldn't answer it i can't force him to. for all you obama haters out there, i cannot make the man answer the questions. i can only pose them. we continued on obamacare. >> was it the biggest mistake of your presidency to tell the nation over and over if you like your insurance you can keep your insurance. >> oh, bill, you have got a long list of my mistakes. >> no, really for you wasn't that the biggest one? >> this is one that i regret and i said that i regretted in part because we put in a grand father clause in the original law saying that, in fact, you were supposed to be able to keep it. it obviously didn't cover everybody that we needed to and that's why we changed it >> all right now in my opinion the insurance deal was the president's most apparent mistake. then it was on to benghazi libya where ambassador christopher stephens and three other measure patriots were killed on 9/11. they were murdered by terrorists. >> libya, house armed

services testimony. general carter ham, you know, the general security in africa. he testified that on the day that the ambassador was murdered and the three other americans, all right, he told secretary panetta it was a terrorist attack. shortly after ham, general ham said that, secretary panetta came in to you. did he tell you, secretary panetta it was a terrorist attack? >> you know what he told me was that there was an attack on our compound. >> he didn't use the word terror? >> you know, in the heat of the moment, bill, what folks are focused on is what's happening on the ground. >> your detractors believe that you did not tell the world it was a terror attack because your campaign didn't want that out. >> bill, think about. >> that's what they believe. >> and they believe it because folks like you are telling them that. >> no, i'm not telling them that i'm asking you whether you were told it was a terror attack. >> when i'm saying it that is inaccurate. >> here is where the president runs into trouble. fox news had nothing to do with the confusion over the benghazi terror attack and

the lack of security in that dangerous place. we had nothing to do with it yet, the president refers to us applying that we are distorting the situation. it's a deflexion pure and simple. i finds it hard to believe that the defense secretary panetta did not tell the president on that day, 9/11 2012 that terrorists committed the murders. i find that hard to believe. however, panetta has dodged us and refuses to set the record straight. shame on leon panetta. next up, the irs deal. >> douglass shulman, former irs chief, he was cleared into the white house 157 times, more than any of your cabinet members, more than any other irs guy in the history by far. why was douglass showman here 157 tidges, why? >> mr. shulman as the head of the irs is constantly coming because at the time we were trying to set up the

healthcare.gov and -- >> -- what does he have to do with that the irs works as part of the overall healthcare team. i do not recall meeting with him in any meetings that are pretty routine meetings. >> you don't recall seeing shulman what some people are saying is that the irs was used at a local level in cincinnati, maybe other places to go out. >> absolutely wrong. >> how do you know that? because we still don't know what happened there. >> folks have again had multiple hearings on this. these kinds of things keep on surfacing in part because you and your tv station will promote them. >> the fbi continues to investigate the irs situation. so it's not as settled as the president implies. we don't have anything to do with that now, will the feds hold anyone accountable in the irs situation? i doubt it. finally, a great question

analysis of the presidential interview today in the white house briefing abc news correspondent jonathan karl brought up the interview with jay carney. >> jay, in the president's interview with broirl last night, he said that there was not even a smidgen of corruption regarding the irs targeting conservative groups. did the president misspeak? >> no he didn't. isn't there an active investigation justice department. >> every look at this, every investigation into this and everything we have learned about this is that this is not something that that in any way reached outside of the irs. >> i mean there is an active justice department investigation. doesn't the president prejudge that investigation when he tells bill o'reilly there is no corruption? >> through the testimony that we have seen, completely backs up what the president said. >> with us now in our new york studio mary katharine ham and from washington juan williams both fox news

"new york post," o'reilly tackles obama in pregame interview. there was no headline in the "the washington post" as mentioned the paper didn't cover the interview in print which is kind of stunning but the "new york times" did a very fair piece the headline is obama is tackled by obama before the -- obama is tackled by o'reilly before the game. >> how about the a.p. deadline, right? >> you questioned him about republican criticism, not criticism but could you imagine if after chris christie's monumental two hour news conference somebody wrote a headline chris christie defends himself against democratic criticisms. that would never happen. because they are not democratic criticisms, they are criticisms. but by throwing in as they did as the a.p. did in your case what they are saying is that you arey questions weren't legitimate and that they are partisan. >> that's right.
