stevie nicks this morning. you are watching fox and friends first on this wednesday morning. >> i am ainsley earhardt. >> i am heather childers. thank you so much for starting your day with us. >> let's get right to the extreme weather alert for you. the second storm battering the east coast in just as many days. we have team coverage for you. laura engel is live in new york city. we are going to begin with maria molina who is tracking the storm from the weather center. >> the storm system hit hard yesterday producing close to a foot of snow across sections of kansas and over six inches across portions of the midwest including cities like indianapolis. it is still on the move producing snow across parts of chicago, into michigan and also across ohio. the area shaded in pink and purple that is freezing rain. that is a big concern with the storm system we are looking at snowfall accumulation and a lot

of ice. winter storm warnings in effect across areas as far west as kansas city all of the way to boston, portland, parts of maine looking at the winter storm warnings in effect through out the day. the area shaded in purple we have ice warnings in effect across southern ohio because of significant ice concerns and also freezing rain advisories out here. how much additional snow are we looking at out here? in places like albany and surrounding areas you could see a foot of snow. locally higher amounts in southern new england including massachusetts. right here that freezing rain over a quarter of an inch of ice possibly a half an inch of ice. power outages are a concern in southern parts of pennsylvania and northern sections of the state of west virginia. behind this storm system you will notice temperatures dropping already today feeling that chill. kansas city temperatures are going to get into the teens.

it will stay cold until thursday. single dig get highs for a temperature in chicago. that's as warm as it will get. during at no tithe nighttime ho will be brutal in the central areas of the country. we expect to have the windchill advisories not just today but as we head into tomorrow because of the cold temperatures. there has been a lot of talk of a storm system as we head into the weekend. take a look at this computer model. this is a very reliable model. it is a pueuropean model. it was connected to a winter storm sunday into monday. now look no storm sunday evening chth we are looking at a lower chance of a weekend storm. that is good news for many people across the northeast. we don't want another storm after we have had thtwo this we.

right now the number 1,986 cancellations within, into or out of the united states. that is one of the hardest hit areas blamed on road conditions. the governor ordered his office closed for today. four suspected heroin dealers just arrested in connection with the death of phillip seymour hoffman. good morning, kelly. police have four people in custody. three men and one women ato determine if they are the heroin dealers w

dealers phillip seymour hoffman. they found more than 350 bags of heroin. none had the brand name ace of spades or ace of hearts. those are the brand names some bags they found inside hoffman's apartment. they say he was seen saturday making numerous withdraws totalling $12 million from an atm. they talked about giving the money to two men and then allegedly seeing the air hin. he w -- heroin. he was found in the bathroom with a needle in his arm and 50 bags of heroin died. the drug did not contain -- or there wasn't a drug containing any additives like fen ten ol. one of the greatest actors of his time. legions of fans will miss his performance on stage and film. tonight they will turn down the

lights on broadway for phillip seymour hoffman gone too soon. >> thank you,kelly. in other news this morning the former police officer accused of killing a man for texting during a movie could be free on bond. curtis reeves is currently being held without bond. but a judge could change that today. the judge also expected to rule on whether a video of the shooting can be used in the case. reeves is accused of shooting 43-year-old chad olson in front of his wife for texting during a movie. reads claims it was self defense. a woman who escaped years ago is snappnabbed. she was living a double life using multiple identities. she served 16 months.

alert. you are looking at a slippery street in wooster, massachusetts, where they could see up to a foot of snow there. certainly not alone. >> maria molina is tracking the storm for us. >> we are already looking at significant impact from the storm system. yesterday it produced close too a foot of snow across kansas and sections of the midwest. i know indianapolis reporting more than 6 inches of snow as well. we still have snow coming down across parts of illinois and indiana. in storm system is very widespread. we have snow across parts of missouri early this morning and also like you showed across massachusetts. you are talking possibly over a thousand miles currently impacted by the storm system. there's also a bit of a concern with freezing rain. i am going to mention that in a moment. otherwise kwinter storm warning from kansas to portions of eastern maine. we have ice storm warnings and freezing rain advisories across virginia, the state of west

virginia and even into ohio. some areas could be looking at ice accumulations possibly over a quarter of an inch to even a half an inch that is very damaging on roadways. we could be looking at slippery roadways and also concerns with power outages. otherwise how much snow are we expecting across parts of the northeast especially interior sections. that's where you are looking at higher accumulations locally over maybe a foot of snow in spots like surrounding areas of albany. this right here the pink purple shading that is freezing rain and like i mentioned half an inch of ice accumulation out here southern pennsylvania and the state of west virginia. behind the storm system is gets much colder. take a look at high temperatures today in montana. below zero in cities like billings, single digits in far go. today and tomorrow into kansas city and we have windchill advisories out here because of how coldbe. otherwise heather and ainsley i am sure you heard big talk about a storm coming into sunday and

declared in new jersey where there is a lot of concern about ice on power lines because of the weight of the snow and ice hitting those lines. if you have a flight today you know the drill, call ahead. we are reporting at this hour over 2,000 flights have been canceled in massachusetts taking another winter storm as well with 6-12 inches of snow in many areas before they get stuck with sleet and rain. higher elevations in western massachusetts could be up to 15 inches of snow. the winter storm affecting at least 24 states including indiana where many businesses have announced they will be closed and local school districts have canceled classes. highway officials in 12 states reported they need more salt to fight off the snow and ice. it this will continue through the day and continue to be a problem. >> laura i thingle, thank you s much, laura. police just areding four suspected drug dealers in connection with the death of phillip seymour hoffman.
