>> and thank you for joining us everybody. >> american nows headquarters starts right now. meanwhile we start with a fox news alert, a lousy jobs reports raising concerns about the strength of american xhechlt welcome hq. >> employers add a mere 113,000 jobs in the month of january. that is far, far less than the 185,000 most economist predicted. >> melissa francis is host of fox money. second month in a row, what is going on here? >> that's what is troubling about it. it is the second month if a row. we averaged 200,000 per month and we didn't think that that was that good. you need 350,000 to get back all
10:01 am
of the jobs we lost in this recession. now we have slipped below the 200,000 average. last month it was 74,000 and this it month 10014. they were expecting an upward revision and they didn't get either of those things. >> they predicted 185,000 for this month? >> yes. >> in december lousy job numbers were blamed on the lousy weather. can the same be sad for this january? >> port barnes asked the chief economist about that. he didn't think that weather was a huge factor in this. it is hard to say anything but a slowing economy. it is disconcerting. we grew at 3.2 percent and not great and something sort of a pick up. economist are thinking that we are growing less than two percent in the first quarter.
10:02 am
it is it a step in the wrong direction. does that scale back the stimulus? >> that is an interesting question. it is taking some of the money away. they are two troubling indications in a row, i personally think it is going to depend on the gdp number. it is giving people pause and one of the reasons why the market is up and not down. they are thinking that janet yellen will think twice about the taper, >> the labor force kicked up a notch and that is good? >> it is still at record low. labor force participation is 63 percent. it went slightly higher and some are saying that has to do with the fact that unemployment benefits expired and people who are no longer getting the check and jumped in with both feet.
10:03 am
the problem is they are looking for a job and doesn't mean they are finding one. we need a strong economy for these folks who are looking for a job. >> are there bright spots to be found? >> the construction was a positive. weakness in retail and also in health care which is odd. obviously obama care is putting more jobs in the health care industry you would think. the retail being weak is unfortunate. as we can see this unemployment rate not improving and so now people getting a job this month, it means even less money to spend on retail. >> we hear that money is moving? >> we are moving to 2 o'clock p.m. they can come over to fox business network and catch us in the heart of the market hours. starting on monday. >> that is fantastic and you have a cute promo.

10:05 am
famously called them substandard and junk. if they are junk, why would he allow them to continue for three years unless they are better than the obama administration. >> if the administration is fu're going through the display, it is a stunning lack of confident in their own program. the affordable care act was supposed to help people find affordable insurance plans. we need to delay it so we can help them find opportunities to buy health insurance and that it undermines the purpose of the law. >> what about the poll tigs of this thing? let's extend until past midterm lecs in november. and we don't hurt democrats with angry americans. it would be stunning to extend beyond the presidential elections in 2016?
10:06 am
>> the administration is getting worried that the democrats are losing control of the senate and last two years of obama administration there would be pressure to make changes for obama care and repeal it although obama will not probably sign that. they are getting nervous. >> what about the lawlessness of. it this is the 26th exemption or waiver or delay that would have been done by the president and administration. is it clear lawlessness. >> it is in the 26. that is amazing. i don't know. i think we will probably find an answer to that in 2014. it didn't solve the question of
10:07 am
whether or not it is the will of the american people. 2014 will be a good chance for americans, there is a lot of senators up for reelection and democrat senators that voted for obama care and the republicans will push that issue in the election. we'll so polls in colorado and new hampshire that show that democrats could lose. >> michael, three months ago, harry reid called republicans anarchist because they wanted to delay obama care for a year. and now the president considering a throw year delay. that would be saying to his successor, i created a mess and you got to clean it up? >> i think the white house is in more trouble than they predicted. and the republicans should be saying you finally come around to the vow we talk it about for
10:08 am
months and years even. i think the president is thinking of the legacy of not only his president so but the health care law and by pushing this, i think he's indicating it is in a lot more trouble they thought and they don't know what to do. and they are moving around in a way for here and three years and they are pushed back on their heels a bit. >> the other thing is, 3 million have enrolled in the private obama care plans and you have to offset that by the 6.2 million who had plans under obama care. so essentially if you wipe it out with a three year delay, the white house gets to brag that there is no net deficit here, right? >> think about the number and throw million who are signing on plans. they are people who were kicked off old plans and putting on new
10:09 am
plans that are more expensive. it is not as if it they are getting a lot more. >> only ten percent of those enrolled in obama care are previously uninsured and you will have 31 million people ten years from now. who are still unemployed and no change after 2 trillion in taxpayer money is spent. michael warren, i have to leave it there, thank you so much. >> thanks, gregg. the winter olympics are underway in sochi, russia. security there is described as extraordinary and allegations that russian is spying on olympics tourist in their own hotel rooms. johnathon hunt is live from the newsroom. >> the serious stuff first. thousands of athletes, and visitors and dignataries are
