we have a winter weather storm tracking south east today. the worst will come as we head into tonight and into tomorrow morning. that's where we will see snow, sleet accumulating in northern georgia, mississippi and across alabama. i want to show you the temperatures southward temperatures to the north of it are very cold in the teens in nashville. south of it relatively mild in the 40's in atlanta, and 40's across northern florida. the frontal system is the one responsible for all of the rain, freezing rain and snow across the region. it will be moving southward. that is what will allow the switchover from rain to possibly freezing rain even snow. you can see we have wide winter

several flights have been canceled and schools have been canceled until thursday. >> the heightened response comes after the snowstorm left them paralyzed for days stranding drivers on highways shoppers in stores and children at school. >> good morning, maria. >> good morning heather and ainsley. i am glad they are taking precautions out there. because this storm system could bring worse weather than the last storm system two weeks ago across northern georgia. you can see the frontal system slowly creeping south and eastward. to the north of it we have snow over northern mississippi and alabama. the area of pink right in there that is freezing rain coming down. that is a major concern. we could be looking at ice accumulation here in many places that don't have the proper equipment to remove that kind of. you can see winter weather advisory as far west in dallas and as far east as the carolinas

even the state of virginia currently under a winter storm watch. this will be a widespread storm system. as far as snow accumulation, this is going to include accumulations from tonight into tomorrow morning and also from right now across northern georgia. we are looking at 2-3 inches of snow north of atlanta. there are a couple of pockets here and there across northern georgia that could actually see more than six inches of snow that's the story as well across western parts of north carolina and eventually as the storm tracks northward more than a foot of snow possible in some of the higher elevations of the state of virginia and also across parts of maryland. eventually the big question is what happens in the northeast for cities like philadelphia, for new york city, and right now philadelphia you are under a winter storm watch. heather and ainsley it looks like they could get over 6 inches of snow but i am not sold yet on the northeast. that track is going to be very critical. you could see some freezing rain, some sleet mixing in with that snow.

i need your timesheets, larry! >> a troubling trend is happening we are learning u.s. carriers wracked up over 100 accidental airport landings. diane macedo from fox business network joins us with this troubling story. >> image landing after a long flight only to realize the pilot took a wrong turn and you are not at your destination. this happens more often than you might think. a search of government. data bases and media reports shows u.s. commercial air carriers landed or started to land at the wrong airport at least 150 times in the past two decades. injuries last month the airlines flight mistook a small airport for branson airport nearly ended up in a rue convenient thanks to the runway being half of the

length it was supposed to land on. a cont then shainental flight la small airfield 8 miles away for the third time. this doesn't just happen with commercial airlines. a military plane went ahead of the u.s. central command landed at the small airport in tampa, florida, stead instead of mcgi force base. they are told to guide them based on their own visuals so they headed to the nearest set of runway lights. the ap tally shows for just commercial planes there have been at least 35 landings and 115 approaches or aborted landing attempts at wrong airports since the early 90s. many of the events aren't reported so the real tally is probably even higher. thank you diane. once the microwave's timer goes off you think it is ready think again.
