out. hundreds of thousands without power. storm is blamed for at least four deaths. forecasters said will jump ice and snow on 20 states. this thing started over here. yesterday there was an ice storm down here in mississippi. came all the way up. you we have gone past raleigh, roanoke, washington, charlotte, terrible, too. new york, boston, bangor, they always get it. right now the storm is hitting the northeast pretty hard, and they're still rerestoring power from the last storm? ' pittsburgh. people are fed up, leading to snow rage which ended in several arrests. first, here in new york city, a lot of parents say they're furious they still had school. you can get the subways working, everything is fine, we actually have snow plows here, but al

there essex county, new jersey, the ambulance having a rough day. emergency services are being blocked by people who decided to go out on the road. raleigh, got friends in that year. yesterday, a 15-minute drive turned into two and a half hours. they expected rain and got more snow. strappedded in backups after the crashes. this is -- police put these orange stickers on cars they stretch for strands people, and the orange sticker tells the police there's nobody stranded in here. this is the original picture i had up there. we have seen a lot of scenes like this. is this chapel hill. it's easy at the airport as long as you don't want to fly anywhere. they're nice and empty. good luck getting anybody to take you anywhere. the world's busiest airport in atlanta, deserted. as the airlines grounded more than 6,000 flights nationwide. some are re-opening in the northeast.

this historic building in mid-town, it's called craigy house, used to be the headquarters of the atlanta chapter of the daughters of the american revolution. they sold is in 2001. it was under renovation and maybe under the weight of ice and snow collapsed. so that building is done and may have to be torn down. let's go to raleigh. that's a car on fire yesterday. people tried to make it up the snow-covered hill. traffic in raleigh was terrible. people 30 minute community turned into three hours. not as bad as it was in atlanta a couple of weeks ago. some people were yuck overnight. even their the governor declared a state of emergency, people took to the roads like they did in atlanta. everybody at the first sign of snow said, let's go home. >> 41 in atlanta right now. i don't see any snow bit understand they're having trouble with power. >> there's still 130,000 people

9.8 at the airport overnight. pushing this to the top five snowiest winters on record. right now it's not snowing, which is great. other lot of slush because it warmed up a little bit. a lot of plows coming through here on market street, which i relatively clear and relatively empty because the closed government offices, schools, and 0 lot of businesses were shut down. we have video. they were clearing the sidewalks. nearly deserted in downtown philadelphia today. another big concern here, power. they had a massive storm here a week ago that took out 800,000 customers in the delware valley. fortunately there is time a much lower number of people without powers but there could still be issues. >> for those on the roads, it ain't easy. >> no, and we just saw a couple buses come bay. they suspended bus service because the conditions were so bad. a few lines are now rung again

but the highways are in really bad shape. the pennsylvania department of transportation banned empty tractor-trailers and other vehicles from many of the roadways because conditions were so bad out there. the airport had nearly 850 flights cancelled today. they kept run runway open but flights are greatly restrict. in the storm is not over yet. they're hoping things will clear up by tomorrow. >> let's hope. here in new york city, we got a lot of snow. it started sometime after midnight. but really got hard around 5:00, 6:00, and we had nine inches in some areas. you can see this cat here from john deere. that's what they do the curbs with. this is rockefeller center. it becomes like this high of slush. just like out of the slush puppy machine at the five and ten store. it's like that. and doesn't matter how good your

boots are. and snow is piled up from previous snows so snow is that high in this borough and that high in brooklyn on the sides of the roads where you should be walking, and the truth is there's more snow coming tonight. supposed to get colder by 10:00 or 11:00, and we may get two or more inches. you're thrilled, i know. meteorologists say by saturday of this week, so by day after tomorrow, we will have had five feet of snow potentially in new york city. because we're supposed to get two to four more on saturday. i'm sure people are thrilled in south carolina. >> we got is this in program ga, an overturned tree in his yard. this is north carolina, lake norman. very beautiful. this guy decided to cook some shrimp on the grill. looks pretty good. this couple in clifton,

the edge. they're calling it snow rage and has landed three people in jail. home owners freaked out shoveling know only to have a snow plow move it back where it was. this man tells us the snow from the plow boxed in cars. cops say some people are taking it out on the plow drivers themselves. loom at this one in pennsylvania. >> grabbed my arm, trying to pull me out of the truck, and i went to put it in park, and when i turned my head i had a gun up to my face like this. and i moved back like this and i said, go ahead and shoot me. >> he says the attacker ran off and police arrested him. cops report two other incidents in new york and connecticut. one man threatened a plow driver with a shotgun because too much snow piled up outside his home. somebody needs to relax. rick is tracking this in the

extreme weather center. this is what you said. snow until mid-day, and now it's raining. >> and that just turns in a slushy mess and then melts stuff and it's not going to get really cold after this, no flash freeze and the solid sheet of ice. i want to book at philly. talk about how much snow there is, and after today, they're at 53 inches for the season. your fifth snowyiest season ever, and by saturday we'll be into your third snowiest winter you have ever had there. new york, we're about ten inches below where we get to that fifth snowiest season. we stale have snow falling in north carolina and west virginia, and that will pull off to the east. going to be a strengthling storm and pulling away from the northeast. so we'll still see snow in the interior sections.

>> 21 minutes past the hour from new york estimate jurors in florida, northeast florida, jacksonville, are deciding whether a man who shot and killed teenager after an argument over loud music, in fact killed the teenager. on the left here the defendant, michael done n. on the right, the 17-year-old. the year was 2012. the man opened fire on the teenager. in fact an suv full of teenagers, and killed davis. it happened outside a convenience store. dunn sayings he asked the teens

to down down the musician. they threatened to hill him, which is no dispute. dunn's lawyers call it self defense. prosecutors point out he did not call 9-1-1 and in fact fled the scene. he and his government -- girlfriend got in the car, ored a pizza, took the dog out for a walk, slept, and then drove two and a half hours home and then contacted police only after he was aware somebody had gotten his license plate. cops never found any weapon in the suv. jurors were set to watch surveillance video from the store which captured the sounds of the gunshot. look here. >> gunfire gunfire [ gunshots ]

the bullet. they call it a -- anyway, it -- they used it as a display in court. was not actually entered in evidence so it was a a thing to demonstrate with so they couldn't see. let's bring in a lawyer, john, there's a lot of evidence against this guy. >> there is. there's a lot of evidence, and the problem is not so much whattal dunn did but what his fiancee said. during testimony, she spewed what michael dunn said, specifically he mentioned the gun, which is the entire reason he got out of the scar and shot. his subjective belief he would be killed, but if he was, why wouldn't he mention it to his fiancee. and then as you mentioned, the consciousness of guilt. the flight from the scene and not calling the police.

all will be considered by the jury. from an analytical point of view, if they believe he reasonably believed there would be imminent danger to life, they could acquit him. and that could come from the 9-1-1 call who says he saw a red suv go around and allegedly stash something it butters may use their common sense and convict him of these counts. >> one of the points of contention here is the suspect says that the kids threatened to kill him. but there were witnesses to this verbal exchange, and one witness says they didn't threaten to kill him, and the suspect came back and said to him, are you talking to me? but instead he said, you can't talk to me like that. in other words, they said things he didn't like and the accusation is he got out of is car, shot three times, the car

moved, and shot three more times and then the car win down the road and he aimed and fired and tack out taughtlights. shooting a fleeing person, that's your moment of premeditation. >> that could be the argue. but during the closing arguments, d.a. mentioned there was rage, and anger. those words are indicative to me of voluntary manslaughter, not premeditation. even if he tide say, hate that thug music, it shows the anger in his thug person, and maybe he didn't have a moment to reflect, which is why i think the attempted voluntary manslaughter and voluntary manslaughter are certainly something the jury can convict. >> the jury has asked a couple of questions today. they've been at it a little more than eight hour. nice to see you. >> thank you. >> animal lovers won't like this. not zoo in den mark plans to ail can young, healthy giraffe.

after the evening rush hour. new yorkers know it's really all just slush out there. this is outside penn station. it's deep, freezing cold. it's like stepping into a slush without the flavor. it's gross. gets in your boots and puddles are everybody and this is on top of the mounds of ice from our past storms. lots of folks refuse to dig out cars. alter night side parking rules are suspended. and this is the 1st so-called snow event in new york city. six snowstorms, 11 know events. twice as many as this time. an event is moen -- more than just a dusting. right now new york city is at 53 inches. laura ingall is driving around, which you shouldn't be doing. you're setting a bad example. >> i'm just a passenger.

we're -- all right. so snow nows all day long have been shoving mounds of snow, trying to clear this mess out. we have a camera outside our quick response vehicle. we have a couple of passengers with their cars using cardboard trying to get themselves out. it's been a mess as people have been trying to navigate streets. a hazardous travel advisory in effect in the city. 2300 pieces of snow removing equipment and 800 emergency snow laborers have been trying to help out commuters. that thick white blanketing of snow we saw today has turn to rain, creating sidewalk slush, as you described, for pedestrians to slog through, and today it was just coming down. new york's governor, warning new yorkers not to get cocky -- his words not mine -- and we have
