it is still snowing early this morning but we are finally expecting the storm system to continue to pull away from the region and many areas across the coast and the i 95 corridor yesterday. we saw the rain stratransition snow. you can see the hardest hit area expected to be across new england. blizzard conditions in places like vermont, new hampshire, parts of maine. 12-18 inches forecast for many of you and strong winds over 35 miles an hour. snow fatigue we have snow accumulations for the season. illinois we are expecting the clipper system to hit the midwest through out the day today. that storm heads east and as we head into the weekend several inches of snow will be possible through out the northeast.

and this week from the mountains to our coast there has been some kind of winter weather. it is deep here where we are standing in greens borough, north carolina. about nine total inches of snow for an area that rarely sees more than an inch at a time and only a couple times per winter. it began to melt a little last night and it is frozen over. just a solid sheet of ice on top and a little salt underneath. road crews have been working since really mid afternoon on wednesday trying to clear the streets. all businesses really were shut down. valentine's day, that could be really financial trouble for a lot of places. so a really tough situation here in north carolina for everyone. i think we are all looking forward to spring. >> yeah. we are both from the carolinas and we have family down there and they are ready for it to end as well. thank you so much, shannon. tell our families hello.

seeing snow come to an end. if you live in new england today still seeing the snow. blizzard conditions expected across parts of vermont, new hampshire and maine where we expect the wined wind to pick . snow accumulations expected with that. the storm is going to continue to exit today. by late today it will be in new england. take a look at the midwest and the plains. today they are dealing with storms that are producing 3-5 inches of snow and some of the heavier snow bands. that system heads east. parts of west virginia parts of eastern kentucky with more snow late tonight into tomorrow morning. then the system tracks into the northeast. we are talking low snow accumulations generally 1-3 inches. locally higher ams. we are in a snow fatigue already well above average snow already this season. so we are looking at a little more snow this weekend. only bit of good news is that by later next week heather and ainsley we are seeing temperatures warm up and
