threatening to crash the plane. he lowered a rope from the cockpit and climbed down. the police boarded the plane startling passengers with this message. >> your attention, please. we need your cooperation. please don't move. be relaxed. >> the ethiopian government taking action is puzzling. he has the means to travel anywhere. it raises security questions for ethiopia. on american planes the pilot or co pilot are never allowed in the cockpit alone. a flight attendant has to step in if a pilot steps out for a bathroom break. >> that makes sense in case someone has a health concern or just like this situation.

northeast. we have widespread winter weather advisories in effect for pennsylvania. pretty much the entire state of new jersey covered under a winter weather advisory in new england. for places like new york city and philadelphia we are seeing impacts for your ka morning commute. tuesday morning you are headed out to work and you will have the snow coming down. we have the winter storm warnings in effect for portions of new hampshire, maine and massachusetts. that's where the heavier snowfall accumulations this afternoon and evening are expected 4-8 inches and also some very gusty winds out here. further west across the pacific northwest we have had days of rain and snow and it does continue. continuing to see the moisture out here. what we really needed is a little bit further south across california and nevada where we continue to see the extreme drought that continues and we are not getting in i rain out there over the next several days. temperature wise anywhere east of the rockies you are going to be seeing them warming up. today already a little better in

the voice of the pilot was friendly and mellow was crackling and worried. we were wondering what was going on and the plane fell sharply two times. >> the co pilot safely landed the plane in geneva, switzerland where he asked for political asylum. he has several visas allowing him the freedom to go wherever he desired adding more confusion to the suspected motive. >> the reason would not make sense. >> you have to wonder what he was thinking he had the ability to go anywhere. taking political asylum will likely not be granted. he faces 20-years in prison for taking hostages. ainsley? >> kelly wright, live for us in washington. thank you, kelly. one death row inmate making a last minute plea by suing a pharmacy. michael taylor is scheduled to be executed in missouri later this month and he has filed a lawsuit against an oklahoma pharmacy making the drug that

welcome back. heartstopping new video of a bus crashing into a parking lot. look at that. this happened in boise, idaho. the driver can be heard swearing as the bus is swerving veering off the road and crashing into trees and light poles before smashing into the parking garage of an office building. the driver told police that his brakes failed but police found no evidence of break failure. they say the driver fell asleep at the wheel and is facing charges. a strong wind storm in england shows how tough a plane's landing gear needs to be to make sure passengers are safe.
