8:02 pm
that's not going to be easy. the economy will not improve any time soon. foreign policy shaky with iran now signaling it may go back on the nuke treaty, and obamacare continues to be very he problematic. enter global warming a fervent liberal cause. on sunday, secretary of state john kerry said this. >> climate change can now be considered another weapon of mass destruction, perhaps even the world's most fierce weapon of mass destruction. >> mr. kerry setting the table climate change campaign. that is all severe weather in the u.s.a. will be blamed on global warming. president obama picked that up theme when he visited drought stricken california on valentine's day. >> a change in climate means that weather related disasters like droughts, wildfires, storms, floods,
8:03 pm
are potentially going to be costlier and going to be harcher, droughts have obviously been a part of life out here in the west since before any of us were around and water politics in california have always been complicated. but scientific evidence shows that a change in climate is going to make them more intense. >> well, we know of no specific scientific evidence that california's current drought is an off chute of global warming. there is evidence that the world is getting hotter. 2013 was the 7th warmest year since 1880. however, the rate of warm something slowing down, according to the united nations intergovernmental panel on climate change. that slow down was not predicted by the scientists. talking points maintained that no one, no one knows for certain what causes climate fluctuations. but every human being who cares about the earth should want it to be cleaner. therefore, we should all, all of us work together to
8:04 pm
make that happen. whether you believe in global warming or not. that is the sane, sane, sane position. luferlly companies like china and india don't care. president obama can't stop that. so, if the u.s.a. punishes its own people like holding up the keystone pipeline which would provide jobs being foolish. by the way, studies say that keystone will not be a pollutant. the obama administration well understands that it can gain a favorable response from the left primarily by pushing the climate change agenda and so it does. and will up the an ante to object secure other problems like the economy and obamacare which it's not fixing. that is called politics. and that is called the memo. now for the top story. there is is a guy named tom styer, here he is, hedge fund player out of northern california who has pledged
8:05 pm
$50 million of his own money to promote climate change policies. also promised to raise another 50 million in that effort. so, mr. styer is becoming a huge donor to democratic politicians using climate change as justification. joining us now from washington democrat and fox news analyst kirsten powers. so we here a lot about rich republicans pumping money into the political system. what do you think about mr. styer? >> i think it's great because i think it's an important issue and if he wants to give money to candidates who are are going to focus on this issue. i don't have a problem with it. >> what if it's bogus bogus issue focus on what? what do you focus on? >> well, i don't think it is a bogus issue. and in fact i don't think have you been listening to what you just said anyone would conclude that there is being concerned with the environ isn't a bogus issue. even if you don't believe that climate change is caused by human beings, at the end of the day we -- i think we can all agree that carbon emissions do cause
8:06 pm
even if you don't agree -- >> -- yes. >> they cause climate change they cause pollution. there are a lot of health implications for that so it's a laudable cause to reduce that. that's essentially what he would be arguing for. >> i don't think so. i think what he is trying to do is buy democratic success through $100 million. look, the right wing and republicans do that all day long the supreme court said you can do it. that's very controversial. then it puts power into the hands of a very few who can raise $100 million i agree with you that we should all promote policies that make the planet cleaner. however, sane policies, can't be punishing americans, all right? and this keystone pipeline is is a good example. the president is in mexico now. president of canada, prime minister of canada saying hey, look, polluter. did the studies. it's going to help canada and help the u.s.a. will help the u.s.a. by providing jobs and making it easier for us not to buy
