he's going to be with us to make exciting announcements coming up on "fox & friends." >> president obama has just wrapped up a press conference in the netherlands. he's there for the nuclear summit but the ukraine crisis is front and center. peter doocy live in washington where the world leaders are concerned about -- what are the world leaders concerned about today? >> reporter: they are there for a nuclear summit but all the talk is about the ukraine. this morning, president obama we saw him speak standing next to the dutch prime minister and he didn't announce anything new with regard to what to do about russia's aggression in ukraine, but he did say that at this meeting with theç leaders of the g-7 where putin was not invited, they are going to talk about the way forward. president obama stressed again, as he has and as all administration officials have been doing, the importance of sanctions against top russian officials. he says those sanctions are going to have a huge impact

on russia's economy. he talked about that, also in the context in a way of how sanctions brought iran to the table. so he did mention that. what was very revealing though earlier, just a little while before president obama spoke, he gave an interview to a dutch newspaper and he said that the united states does not think thatç europe is -- needs to be viewed in the context of east versus west. he says the united states does not view europe as a battle ground between east as west, nor do we see the situation in the ukraine as a zero-sum game. that is the kind of thinking that should have ended with the cold war. the ukrainian people do not have to choose between east and west. yesterday on the sunday shows we heard mitt romney. he was talking about how now it's been about five years since hillary clinton, then-secretary of state, gave russian diplomats an actual physical reset button. he says if the obama

3:05 am
>> then they found this. saturday images were blurry. >> saturday's images were from a satellite. the images we're talking about here came from an airplane. somebody saw it with their eyes. >> the australian prime minister made this announcement. he said we found some things that are promising from march 16 that showed that this could be the size of plane debris. we're not sure. everything started focusing in that area. before today we had four sightings. this will be the fifth sighting. it has been tough going today and they've got to fly low. it willç be interesting getting somebody on the ground. we are getting consistent reports in this area of debris that size. the question is how long will it float if it is parts of a plane?
3:06 am
>> experts say even if it was a wing with a fuel tank that was empty it is doubtful it will float past ten days. also this morning apparently they were able to track, shortly after the airplane made that big turn to the west, it dropped down to 12,000 feet and experts feel that was intentional to avoid radar. if it was at 12,000 feet, considering the fact that apparently there was -- or some traffic, that is a very busy air corridor, atç 12,000 feet it would have been cleared pretty much to fly anywhere. >> the floatation devices, they say when you're on an airplane your seat floats. wouldn't we see 200-some odd seats floating. today another p-8 poisedon u.s. navy plane and two chinese transport aircraft and two japanese patrols.
