more people were against obamacare than were for it. no time for that, let cbs cover it. if fox is doing it, i wonder what heather put together forç us. >> hi guys, we've got a lot of news going on. in particular we've been following what's going on in washington state. new this morning, the death toll is sadly rising following that devastating mudslide in washington state. as many as 24 people are now dead as crews battle those treacherous conditions there. they are searching threu quicksand -- through quicksand-like mud and a lot of debris. we're getting dramatic new video. look at this from a rescue helicopter that shows the very moment crews pulled a four-year-old boy from that mud over the weekend. that boy is now out of the hospital and is with his mother but sadly his father and three sibling are still missing along with so many others. moments ago malaysian officials claiming there are new satellite images

provided by france that show 122ç potential objects floating in the indian ocean that they want to take a closer look at. these images were taken three days ago on march 23. also overnight planes resuming their search from pieces of that missing jet and also new this morning, investigators are looking into a partial ping that may show where the plane could have crashed. it went off about eight minutes after what was thought to be the flight's final radio transmission and also a friend of the pilot now speaking out claiming his buddy was in no state of mind to be flying that day because it was just days after his wife left him. he believes he may have taken that jet for some sort of]iñ last sick joy ride. >> is poor spelling to blame for the boston marathon bombings? there is a soon to be released congressional report that will show the united states missed multiple chances to nab

tsarnaev. when he returned to the united states, his aim was -- his name was on a watch list calling him to be detained by the united states but he was not stopped because his last name was misspelled. finally, happy news to bring you. there is an update for you on the story of seven-year-old josh hardy. he is the young boy who was once denied a potentially lifesaving drug because that drug was discontinued by the manufacturer. this morning he is out of the i.c.u. and is doing better, much, much!retter after he received a drug when the company was pressured to change course. we reported on this story extensively. the company refused to give him the drug fearing the f.d.a. wouldn't approve it for all but after a successful campaign and a lot of coverage we provided, the boy is now doing well. josh's mom announcing the news to the world on facebook and we couldn't be happier to bring that story to you. we needed some good news.

very heavy snow and strong winds. that is going to be the one of the hardest hit areas, eastern parts of massachusetts and eastern parts of the state of maine. yesterday we picked up to a half a foot of snow in parts of the mid flick,ç -- mid flick. otherwise look at the wind with the storm system. in nantucket, wind gusts reported up to 60 miles per hour. there are blizzard warnings in effect. take a look at the radar, you can see that snow over the past 12 hours exit the mid-atlantic and impacting parts of the cape and moving into the state of maine. we have blizzard warning in effect, up to a foot of snow is possible in many of these areas. had this storm taken the track closer to the coast we would have been looking at more significant snow totals in places like new york city and other areas across the northeast. behind the storm very cold. current wind chill 3 below zero. marquette, 2 in buffalo.

comfortable in unemployment, it is always pointed out that anyone who thinks that is wrong is mean spirited or heartless, the fact of the matter is you have to push people back into the job market. you can't make it too comfortable, it is the kraeulgdz -- cradle to grave aspect of welfare. in north carolina, they cut unemployment pay to 20 weeks, people went back and they found jobs. >> by forcing them? >> right. >> charles, you say take something you're overqualifiedç for. >> get back into the job market. i took some of the things out of alan's report, it's very dangerous. it is a very slippery slope to wait. in other words, to say i'm going to collect this unemployment and wait for the right job to come around. people who are unemployed for five weeks or less, they get back into the workforce right away. if you wait your chances of

democratic administration, fresh off a republican administration. will these changes be something you can accept? >> i can, brian. here's the trade-off. we're going to have a little less depth with the meta data n.s.a. is going to be able to query. it is not going to be kept for five years. for some phone companies it is only a year and a half or so. but in return for that we're going to get a lot moreç breadth. under the other system n.s.a. was getting a third or less of the meta data on phone calls here in the united states and from the united states and abroad. with this system it's almost exhaustive, almost total that n.s.a. will be able to query this time through the phone companies the complete data base. on balance, this is probably a little bit better than an 80% solution. >> you're relatively pleased considering how bad it could have been? >> right. >> if people are watching right now -- and we hope they are -- and they're saying do they still have

could stare here all day but we'll lose our time. essentially the president said no, russia is a regional power. they acted out of weakness. general, do you believe russia is acting out of weakness in the ukraine and they're a regional power? >> there's a little bit of growing russian strength in some military capabilities, brian, but overall russia is not a resurgent power. i think frankly putin did what he did in the crimea because he's only delivering one thing to the russian people right now and that's kind of a resurgence of russian pride. he is not delivering democracy or economic progress. brian, the important point here is not whether or not we think russia is our primary geopolitical foe. the real point is that russia thinks we are their primary geopolitical foe, and we better understand that. >> you also say russia just world how to do things. you can go in and take portions of countries and it's okay?

administration does know how many people have paid because there is an faq, frequently asked questions section on a web portal that shows how many people have paid and it has to do with insurance portal with the government so that the insurance companies could get paid. >> how could you not know. >> either she misled them or flat out lied. >> because if you say there is 4 million people signed up, how many paid? i don't know. i watched this whole thing live as did most of you because you're so into this. and you say, how could you not know? because they have a set of subsidies so for mr. and mrs. johnson, if they sign up for this plan and let's say they're in the lower income, they have to get a subsidy to see if it's the plan they want. so you have to look to see if they signed up. you can't give someone a subsidy unless they paid the money. so she was not being truthful when she said that and she leads to you believe the number can't be that high. they think they're get to go around 6 million. if you listen to harry reid, he says there are around 14 million, if you count all the

the flight's final transmission. in the meantime, a friend of the pilot is now telling reporters that his buddy was in no state of mind to fly that plane because his wife had just left him days before that flight. he believes that the pilot may have taken that jet for a last sick joy ride. we'll keep following these developments as they come in throughout the morning. also new information on this, the death toll now rising following that devastating mudslide in washington state. as many as 24 people are now dead as crews continue that treacherous battle through these conditions that are like quicksand and mud and debris to search for more people, hopefully survivors. then there is new video that we're get not guilty from a rescue helicopter. it shows the very moments that crews pulled a four-year-old boy from the mud over the weekend. look at that little boy right there being saved. the good news is he is now out of the hospital and has been reunited with his mother, but his father and his three siblings are still missing. more than 170 others have been

reported missing, but officials say some of those names may have been recorded twice. a secret service agent passed out drunk in a hotel hallway in the netherlands. it is the latest story of agents behaving badly. three agents who were assigned to president obama's security detail in the netherlands were sent home ahead of the president's arrival. the agents had spent the night out allegedly drinking in amsterdam on monday before the president arrived. secret service regulations forbid agents from drinking alcohol within ten hours of going on duty. you may remember this back in 2012, a bunch of secret service agents were sent from a trip o colombia after reports they were party not guilty hair hotel rooms with prostitutes ahead of president obama's trip there. then criminals who just never learn. take a look at this guy. less than one day after being released from prison for robbing a new jersey shoe store, christopher miller returned to the same store and robbed it

said to be 75 feet in length. what is significant about these images is that these objects that were spotted are close to where three other satellite high school also spotted debris. so that gives this more credibility than other pictures we've shown you in the past. there is also another significant new clue that's coming in. a partial ping that may show where that plane crashed. this ping went off eight minutes after what was thought to have been the flight's final transmission. that's another significant piece of information we have for you. in the meantime, a friend of this pilot is now saying that his buddy was simply in no state of mind to be flying that day because his wife had just left him days before that flight. he believes that he may have taken that jet for a last sick joy ride. we'll keep you posted on new developments as they come in. new information coming in this morning, the death toll is rising following that devastating mudslide in washington state. as many as 24 people are now confirmed to be dead as crews

we got to be progressive in what we're doing and trying to fix and repair things, get rid of things that don't work. the bottom line is, you can't be wedded to something, you got to try to make it better. in west virginia, we do it every day. we try to, anyway. we don't try to hold people accountable and beat them up and call them names. we basically say, we made a mistake. let's fix it. >> absolutely. i know the pollsters are telling democrats to say we're going to fix it, yet the republicans voted on a whole bunch of fix-it plans and the democrats never vote with them. >> there are good plans that they should be working together on, whether it's a republican or democrat plan. we fixed 1099. there is other things that we can fix and we will. we have to. it's not going to be able to bear the brunt. >> here is something that i know you want to fix, the obama administration allocated $8 billion to spend on clean coal technology. not a nickel has been spent that would help your folks in west virginia. what's up with that? >> my good friend, john hovan, republican from north dakota, from an energy state, been

new world trade center at the freedom tower. some of them even parachuted off the roof. but the challenge proved too tough for two cnn producers, arrested and charged yesterday afternoon for trying to pull off the same stunt. so why is america's top terror target such a security disaster or challenge? former mayor of new york city, rudy guiliani here. mr. mayor, your reaction to the first two successful entrances? >> shouldn't have happened. security has been 100% effective and enormously well thought out because it is a clear target. the building was hit in '93. they waited until 2001, hit it again. you hate to say this, but it's obvious you're going to have islamic extremist terrorists who have this crazy, obsesstive mind to hit it. the only thing i can say is thank god it happened now and thank god they got them. hopefully we'll see very, very intense security, the right kind of security that should have been there in the first place. >> a 16-year-old was able to sneak past security?

thing he's really worried about, it is a nuke in new york city. your reaction to that? >> i think he should worry about both. one is more remote than the other, meaning the chances of a nuke in new york city are much less possible than -- >> today than when -- in 2000? >> at any time. it's a definite threat, but you got to put the threat in the percentage of risk that exists as opposed to putin deciding he wants to take the rest of the ukraine. or putin deciding he's going to do what he's sort of suggesting he might do, which is protect all the russian speaking people. these are the things we ignored in hitler. these are the things we ignored in other people. i'm not saying he's hitler. but what i am saying is this is a guy with very aggressive tendencies. maybe we should take him seriously and we should prepare for that. i think we should be not giving up military option. that does not mean we use the military option. but it means we don't give it up. for example, suppose he was to decide to attack a nato country. i see the president finally said we would do something about it.

rudy guiliani. good morning. and top democratic pollster is telling democrats who are obviously shaking in their boots a little bit about the midterm elections to flee from obamacare and say it was flawed from the beginning. we're going to fix it. what do you say? >> they're right. actually the first thing they said that's true. it was flawed from the beginning. everything the president has said about it turned out to be untrue. we know you can't keep your doctor and you can't keep your medical -- and also remember it was not going to cost money. we were going to save money. >> what happened to that? >> every day, the number goes up and up and up and up and up. of course, the statement that you would save money by insuring more people was inherently absurd. it costs more money to insure more people. a lot of people that don't have insurance don't want it. so i think it's a disaster. >> as a political issue, it's march. if you're a republican, are you smart just to run out the clock for november and just say, let's run against big government programs like obamacare?

>> i believe the obamacare message is a much better message when it's taken to what i call the next level, when it's taken to the overarching level of just one more example of how the obama administration has taken away your freedoms, how he has taken away your ability to make choice for yourself, including taking away your money, taxes, where he gets to make choices about how you use it. you don't get to make those choices. taking away -- not giving us choice about schools. not supporting charter schools the way he should. not supporting vouchers. so we can select our own schools for our children. in every respect, the obama administration has taken this country and made it more intrusive into our lives. not to mention what he's doing to business, what he's doing to the financial industry, what he's doing to the pharmaceutical industry, what he's doing to just about every industry, overregulating them, overregulating small businesses. when you start with that, which is what they did in florida, i think then you really -- >> in a special election. >> you really reach the emotion that's driving the tea party. which is he's taking away our

freedom. >> that's why a lot of people are look to the next president. as things sit right now, who do you think on the republican side has a good shot? >> it's unfair to preclude a lot of people 'cause a lot of people could come along. i just look at the two people that i know best. jeb bush and chris christie have the broadest appeal so far. they're the ones that have shown that they can reach in and get independent voters. christie in getting independent voters when he ran in new jersey and every time jeb ran in florida, he would get a lot of independents, a lot of democrats and many, many -- >> what challenges are they going to have to overcome? >> all the challenges republicans face. chris christie was the front runner. that's one of the reasons they within after him so badly. he was the only republican beating hillary clinton. they decided they would take an issue, a bad issue and drive it up into the biggest issue of all. >> is there somebody on the republican side that do you not subscribe to that you see as -- i mean, people like rand paul, ted cruz, scott walker.

>> i like governor perry a lot. governor perry is a good friend of mine. i'm not sure what his intentions are. the two i mentioned i think have the best chance. the others could all show me something. i would have trouble with rand paul on foreign policy. the rest of them i'd have no trouble at all supporting. of course, i'd support rand paul over hillary clinton, but i would have real reservations about foreign policy and i see with the whole thing that's happened in crimea that rand paul has moved a little on foreign policy. that kind of made me happy 'cause if he was going to be the nominee -- i believe we need a president after this president, like ronald reagan was a correction to jimmy carter. not just domestically, but foreign policy. and i believe we are in worse shape in foreign policy. i think he's been a worse foreign policy president than he's been a domestic president and he's been a pretty bad domestic president. >> rudy guiliani is going to stick around with us. more "fox & friends," two minutes from now.
