evening. strong lower level jet stream giving us that push we need in the upper levels of the atmosphere. we have a frontal backgroundry in this region. this is the area where we have high alert tornado watch effect until 5:00 p.m. local time with a threat for tornados. this is the area we look to for march tornado probability and right on time. >> we are in tornado season. >> yes. >> thanks so much. >>. >> another fruitless day of searching coming to an end with no sign of malaysian flight 370. australian and chinese planes locating more objects found floating in a new section of the indian ocean. it's about 700 miles northeast of the original search area. after combing the waters, recovery ships coming up empty.

their hopes dashed yet again. welcome, everybody to america's news headquarters. i'm gregg jarrett. >> i'm arthel neville. chinese state media reporting the three recovered objects are not the plane. david piper is streaming live from bangkok, thailand with the latest. >> more sightings of those objects floating in the southern indian ocean. no confirmation that debris from the missing plane. the chinese aircraft which reported the sightings said the objects are red, white and orange. china reporting none of the objects came from the missing plane. china has two ships in the search area with more on the way. more bad weather is forecast though. the location has changed after satellite data suggests that the plane had been traveling faster, thus burning more fuel. the new location near perth

allows planes to search longer over the zone. earlier in the week, authorities said the new data showed there was no chance of anybody surviving as the plane must have run out of fuel and crashed in the indian ocean. today though, the acting transport minister seemed to contradict that by suggesting there was still hope. >> they said no matter how remote, hope against hope, please we will continue to find survivors. i said that from the beginning. no matter how remote, i'm always hoping against hope and i'm praying. they are also in any remote manner, has always been to find for survivors. >> this has begin families of the passengers and crew fresh hope, of course. many have been very critical of

the malaysia authority's handling of the search and investigation. 22 days since the play went missing, they continue to hang on to the belief their loved ones could still be alive. the crucial fact is that there is no evidence, of course, of where the plane is. back to you, arthel. >> david piper live from bangkok, thanks. hope is fading to find survivors in that massive and deadly mudslide in washington state. we can confirm one more body has been located. bringing the total to at least 26 deaths. crews have only been able to recover those 17 victims, but one week into the search, 90 people are still missing. listen to the heartbreak of these folks. >> everybody stands arm in arm. they walk along about so far apart and are looking at the ground for anything that looks unusual. if you look out here, you notice everything is gray. anybody you are going to find in there, anything of any importance you are going to find in there looks gray. these individuals come in up to

the problems with the signing up? you had a personal experience with that. is it messaging about what is with the affordable care act is or is it that the president's signature legislation hasn't matched the good intentions and is just not working? >> we don't know whether it's matched the good intentions because it hasn't really gone into effect in a broadway. i think it is both. there are problems signing up. i certainly had my share. i have a little bit of an unusual circumstances but i have a foster son from south sudan i'm trying to get on insurance. it makes it more difficult. also i think the messaging has not been great. >> your foster son is lovely. i mitt him. >> thank you. >> you know the state of maryland is dropping obamacare. they are going to use technology from connecticut's marketplace. 49,000 out of the expected 150,000 maryland residents had signed up for obamacare as of

last week. why do you think it's not performing as stellar as the president hoped? >> people's faith in government to do things well is something like members of a cult. no matter how much evidence there is, they continue to believe. this can't work. we can't even win wars any more in america. why would anybody turn to washington to think that they're going to develop some kind of an insurance program and later health care, something like the nhs and the uk which is also a miserable failure that they can do it better than the private sector? a reformed private sector, to be sure. the state of maryland has become dysfunctional in this. they are going to adopt connecticut. it's not going to work. the american people,000 all those polls, the one you just showed have been reluctant to accept it. when it finally kicks in fully, and we don't know when that will be because the deadline keeps moving, they are going to be

more outraged. >> as fellow americans, we don't want to see anyone without health care and we are not clear how many of the uninsured are part of the 6 million that signed up so far. i want to pull up another fox news poll. obamacare is helping make insurance more expensive says 65% of the people. less expensive says 24%. do you see a popularity shift towards obamacare? >> what i would love to see for the republicans to come up with their plan in terms of legislation. they are throwing poison arrows at the obama plan, but we haven't seen what their alternative is. we've got to have an alternative for america to move forward in terms of health care. there just isn't one. this is what we are stuck with right now, like it or not like it. >> that's not true. the republicans do have a plan.

there are numerous plans out there. when paul ryan came up with his plan to reform medicare which is an extension of all of this, he was demonized by the left. harry reid on the senate floor says all these people who told their stories about difficulties, they're all liars. he gets back on the senate floor and says, i didn't say that. the dishonesty is through the roof on this thing. >> if republicans had good ideas, the president did say he was open to input from the other side of the aisle. >> he said he was, but then he said if you like your doctor, you can keep it. if you like your hospital, you can go to it. all those things have proven untrue. you can't get a republican plan through with a democrat majority senate and democrat president. that's going to change in the fall. nate silver says the republicans will pick up a minimum of six seats, maybe as many as 11. possibly the white house in 2016. then i think i'll see real change. >> i have to leave it there. in fairness, the white house is

new controversy about how many people have actually signed up for obama care ahead of monday's enrollment deadline. the white house announcing this week that more than 6 million americans have signed up for coverage. but a growing number of critics say, wait a minute. we're wondering how many of these people have actually payed their bills, thus enrolled and if we can trust the obama administration numbers. >> welcome to a new hour inside

america's headquarters. the growing questions are coming as the administration was forced to issue one delay after another. and as one state prepares to scrap its entire online exchange system and replace it with an entirely new one because of all the lingering technical problems. molly is live in washington. >> hello to you as well. that state is maryland. maryland invested $125 million into setting up its own obama care website, it's been so plagued with technical failings, maryland may scrap the software encoding and use connecticut's system instead. that's according to the washington post today. marten o'malley hinted this week that there would be some kind of change to maryland's troubled online site saying it's still not working as it was supposed to work. he said he would provide more details on tuesday. that's one day after what was supposed to be the final deadline to sign up for obama

care, march 31. the obama administration announced this week, there would be another delay. allowing a few more weeks for people to sign up. supporters say it makes sense, because of the rocky start with healthcare.gov. >> also a good thing for insurance companies, because the people who sign up at the end are likely to be in pretty good health, the people who are in bad health really needed insurance, the people who signed up at the beginning. the flood of people at the end and the extension with more people, that's going to do good things for the risk pool, it's going to allow rates to be lower. >> the administration is being evasive with its signup numbers. not indicating how many people have actually paid for new insurance. they also suggest that obama care is not achieving one of its primary objectives. to provide health insurance for the uninsured. >> there's estimates all over the lot suggesting that maybe as many as three quarters of the people who sign up for the exchanges, maybe as few as a

defend our country. >> all of this coming just one day after president obama and russian president vladimir putin spoke on the telephone, discussing a u.s. deal to ease tensions in the region. president obama told putin that the u.s. strongly condemns russia's aggression in ukraine, and urged him to pull back his troops from the border. >> in the meantime, secretary of state john kerry is on his way to a meeting with his russian counterpart to talk about a possible end to the stand-off. could this be an end to the crisis? or will russia continue to defy international law and go after even more of ukraine's territory. we're going to talk about all that with a former state department senior adviser coming up a bit later in the newscast. >> fox news alert on the desperate search for the missing malaysian airliner, a chinese military plane spotting several objects floating in the new

everybody paused for thought. the mayor of darrington, where one of the ceremonies took place today, was eloquent and he describes how the unimaginable had happened. and they realize very quickly a week ago, just how devastating the loss was going to be. to mark the moment, the mariuszed these words. >> we take a moment to forget the logistics. we get the emergency response. if they get the surge of events that have changed our community. this moment is for them to honor the mudslide victims. those still missing -- >> the weather is really not in the rescuer's favor at all, we've had steady rains throughout the day, a slight pause at the moment, we're expecting an inch over the course of the weekend, and they're having to watch the water levels on the river, which you can see behind me.

it's steadily rising, they're worried that could back up and make the recovery effort even more difficult. the rain on top of the mud, which is as much as 20 feet deep in some places, will make that even more difficult to get to new points, where they're searching for any -- for the people that are still missing. you know, they recovered 26 bodies so far, only 17 have been formally identified. the 19 people still missing, it's looking pretty grim. one of the biggest problems is, with the bad weather, it's also colder, even the rescuers are suffering from exposure, and they're suffering from fatigue, they will open an access road later on today, that will allow more ground based operations. they've been using mostly helicopters to winch the victims to the medical examiner's office, once the ground road opens today, that should speed up some of the recovery, greg. back to you. >> tragic story, and so incredibly heartbreaking for all of those people. dominick, thanks. >> very heartbreaking.

as dominick just reported, the heavy rains and strong winds are frustrating rescue teams out there. let's check in with the latest on those conditions. janice dean is live in the fox weather center. >> it's been awful out here, record breaking rainfall in seattle, where they've received over 15 inches in february and march, the wettest on season for march. taking a look at the satellite and radar over the last 12 hours, not good news here, continues to be remaining very saturated and the wet weather continues through the weekend and into early next week as far as central california. they need the rain here, they don't need the rain across the northwest, but we have the setup for more moisture, more storms to push into the region. not only this weekend, throughout the week and into next weekend. so trying for this region, and, of course, the folks who are aiding in the rescue and search in northern washington, looks like it's going to remain rainy and stormy.

a little bit of a break in the weather, a new storm as we head into wednesday and thursday. there's your forecast satellite radar, some of this energy is going to move into the northern plains and upper midwest, and give them a blizzard into monday and tuesday. look at some of the snowfall totals, we could get over a few of snow. is it springtime, we're not sure, across the rockies, into the northern plains and the upper midwest, where they could see a lot of snow as they head into monday and tuesday, we even have blizzard watches already in effect for this area, just to make sure people are prepared. the other story i want to quickly touch on, is the threat for severe weather, we have all sorts of weather we're watching today for central florida, tornado watch in effect until 5:00 p.m. local time, we still have a tornado warning east-southeast of the orlando area, we're watching this carefully as well. arthel? back to you. >> let's hope the tornado doesn't touch down there in south florida, in the meantime, central florida, when you're reporting on blizzards, does it

even shock you to hear that word coming out of your mouth? >> nothing shocks me after the winter we've had. >> good point. >> we're kind of transition, people need to be prepared for another winter storm across the plains and the midwest. >> thank you very much. blizzards, mudslides and tornados, what are we leaving out? oh, earthquakes. more than 100 aftershocks shaking los angeles after a magnitude 5.1 quake struck southern california last night. causing damages including a rock slide on a major road out there, and power outages. will carr live in los angeles with the latest. will. >> i know you're from this area, so you're used to things like this the best way i could describe it is, the room i was in became very would beably, and people who were closer to the earthquake, described it as a long, slow roll. we should note this is the second noticeable earthquake

southern california has had within the past week. it hit at 9:09, centered 20 miles southeast of los angeles. it was strong enough to cause a rock slide, flipped a car upside down. the people inside that car only had minor injuries, it knocked goods off the shelves in stores. check out this picture, it's a bathroom picture it comes from our producer's brother. you can see everything fell out of his cabinets in the bathroom. in all, 50 families ended up being displaced. it knocked out power for about 2,000 people in the area. luckily, though, there was really just minor injuries, nobody was seriously hurt. there were broken water mains. we've had more than 100 aftershocks. experts say there could be more in the coming days. they also add, that this earthquake which was stronger than last week's earthquake, which was a 4.4, that doesn't necessarily mean that in even stronger earthquake is around the corner.

this story, a louisiana firefighter, arrested by police for not moving his truck during an emergency call. here's the surveillance video that shows the firemen here arriving first, when police got there, they told him to move his truck, he refused, so the officer cuffed him and put him in the back of his cruiser, the victim, the fireman was helping says the officer should be the one in cuffs. >> i think he should get fired or suspended. something should happen to him, because like, who does arresting somebody -- he was helping me, not just parking his car. >> the police chief says the officer won't be disciplined but the state fire marshall's office is investigating. rap lawmakers trying to block the white house after the obama administration plans to hand over control of internet domain names. doug luzader is in washington

with details. >> there is a battle brewing in congress over this. growing opposition to the administration's plan to eliminate u.s. oversight of the internet. we're talking about the internet's naming authority. how website names are reserved and assigned. the way it works right now, the u.s. commerce department overseas a contract with a private entity that handles name management, called the internet corporation for assigned names and numbers. the administration wants to end u.s. oversight, but already a group of republicans in the house is pushing a bill to oppose that move. for some, though, this is not a big deal. >> this isn't seeding control of the internet to anybody. ican is literally the phone book issuer of the internet. it issues the names and numbers, it's the internet corporation for assigning names and numbers, that's all it is. >> opponents think the issue runs much deeper than that. what happens if the international community decides to wield this authority against

is. politicians get credit for new productions, they don't get credit for repairs. there's never been a situation where a politician gore their photo taken on a maintenance project. >> it's right now at roughly 18 cents per gallon, it hasn't b n raised in 21 years, it's not indexed to inflation, is that something we should look at or not? >> state gasoline taxes have gone up all over the place. connecticut being an example. so i think the problem here is, we are cross purposes. federal highways, the interstate highway system, that was a good thing. i think now it makes much more sense to turn over the federal gas tax to the states and the

public/private partnerships. having the federal government handle the majority of the infrastructure, it's not going to be done. if it is, it's going to involve more pork barrel and political pull than prioritizing the projects that need the most work. >> a great many are advocating increasing tolls or putting more tolls on the roads and highways, i can see the upside of that, it means that those that use them bear the burden. isn't the down side that this is a -- an interference with the free flow of commerce that would hurt businesses and raise prices on consumers? >> it doesn't have to. the new toll technology is extremely good. there are lots of tolls in california, and other places, where you can go through the tollbooth up to 35 or 40 miles an hour, it will register the amount of money to be deducted from your account and you barely slow down. >> if you're a business, and you use trucking to transport your

goods, you're going to obviously take away what you have to pay in terms of adding customer consumer prices adding up. doesn't that hurt --? >> yes, but remember, if there are potholes in the road, and if there's construction and if there are delays because of traffic, you're also losing money. remember, you see all those trucks by the side of the road getting weighed, they're being taxed a different way. i think we can rationalize this, and obviously people don't like tolls. we're not getting the maintenance we want. one of the reasons we're not getting the maintenance we want, the federal government requires every project that has any federal dollars in it, has to pay something called davis bacon wages. those are the union scale wages, so people can't shop around when we're building a road. they have to take the fixed price the unions charge. and that raises the cost for all of us. >> president wants to divert money from other agencies in the

federal government, and he also wants to use 150 billion in corporate tax reform money, what do you think of that? >> it sournds complex, and it sounds like it might not work, this is the president who when he passed his stimulus bill in 2009 said, this is going to go to the shovel ready jobs. we're going to create jobs, it took a couple years and the president had to admit, i just learned something, there were no shovel ready jobs, this takes a long time. if the president can't figure that out, i worry about massive transfers from one fund to the other. it sounds like one of those shell games in times square. >> he's really good at diverting money after all. to pay for obama care -- i'll get e-mails on that one, won't i. good to see you. >> pleasure. >> coming up, the next lawyers for the living boston marathon bombing suspect trying to -- a new tactic to persuade a jury to

heard about this phone call from putin to obama? >> i thought it was a bit of a ruse, it's putin seeing what he can get away with, there hasn't been a lot for russia, but putin wants to limit any downside, fundamental fundamentally, he doesn't want a deal, there's no agreement that he wants to reach that he's initiating, it's basically a probe and a gesture meant to change the topic. >> if you look at putin's posturing based on this phone call, what do you think it's going to say about putin's next move? >> immediately we know putin wants there to be instability in ukraine, he does not want the new more western looking, western leaning government to succeed by keeping troops near ukraine, with a possible invasion he helps sort of p perpetuate that sense of crisis in ukraine. who knows, we don't know what his intentions are, our intelligence community our $80

billion a year intelligence bureaucracy missed the fact that he was going to rely on ukraine. we can't tell if he's going to invade eastern ukraine or not. especially if he senses he's pushing on an open door with the west. >> the russian troop buildup continues near the ukraine border, and they're not sure, they can't prove for sure that this is indeed just simply part of an exercise. should we be alarmed or concerned? >> i think you have to be alarmed. it's -- you know, there have been sources within the military that have told fox news it's not consistent with any exercise, they're not actually exercising, they're just there, it could just be to create a sense of crisis in ukraine to destabilize the government there, but it could also be a move on ukraine, it seems like putin isn't quite of the mind that he would actually want to start a

european war, but certainly strong dictators make miscalculations, they do things that wouldn't necessarily seem logical. war with ukraine, that potentially had the risk of drawing in nato, would be detrimental to the russian economy. putin has gone down this road of making a strong appeal to russian nationalism, once you start down that road, it may not be so easy to get off. >> how do you deter him from that road, how do you derail him from further moves. and also, before you answer that, regarding the annexation of crimea, should the u.s. and nato concede what's done is done? >> well, that's what's so brilliant about what put season doing, switching the topic to whether he's going to invade eastern ukraine and whether he's making a bona fide diplomatic outreach to the west, we've ceased to talk about whether that is justified. we won't recognize formally the recognition of crime yarks but it's a fate accompli.

we ought to deter putin, the defense of ukraine has to fall -- we should be willing to enable free people who want to fight for themselves. to an extent -- >> does that mean russia should provide ukraine with military equipment? >> i think so, the administration so far is providing nonlethal assistance, food and that type of thing, ukraine has quite a bit of food. actual military goods and material. not u.s. troops on the ground. the support that ukraine needs, and also, nato should be reoriented toward confronting russia, it's been all about afghanistan for the last 12 or 13 years, maybe shift it back to its initial objective. >> when you say confronting russia, what do you mean? >> i think we should move -- i mean, red lines coming from politicians have ceased to mean anything. so you have to signal what you're willing to fight for, nato is an alliance, an alliance
