enter the no spin zone. the factor begins right now. ♪ ♪ >> hi, i'm bill o'reilly, thanks for watching us tonight. the grievance industry takes on momentum. that is the subject of this evening's talking points memo. back in the late 1960's, the vietnam war caused a huge division in america. millions of young people decided their country was wrong for fighting the war in southeast asia. so they launched massive demonstrations all across the u.s.a. and built up a culture based on antiauthority. that is the man who had power was bad. to go along with the political strife, the youth culture embraced sex, drugs, and rock and roll. changing the country from traditional attitudes to if it feels good, do it. the protests of the 1960s and early 1970s brought

about fro found change in many of the radicals back then have become authority figures today especially in the media now we have a new antiauthority movement, and it has been created by the grievance industry which president obama and the democratic party have used very effectively to assume and maintain power. the grievance industry basically says that america is not a fair nation, that the deck is stacked against minorities, women, the poor, gays, atheists, muslims, you name it. and the bad guys are white males, the republican party, and anybody who doesn't buy into the grievance industry. the politically correct national media has legitimized the grievance mongers instead of challenging them. thus, race hess lers and ideological fanatics and other folks who do harm are given power on tv networks and in the political arena. and these folks are ruthless. if you go up against them, the push back will be intense and the liberal

media will be on their side. that awful situation is leading to chaos and confusion in this country. here are two stark examples of what the antiauthority movement can do. on saturday night, thousands of college kids ascended upon santa barbara calf for a big party. it didn't take long for violence to break out. >> last night was pandemonium. >> santa barbara students say saturday's chaotic scene in isla vista was like a war zone. >> con vernld on 6700 block of the drive for annual spring break party. >> phenomenal night i think. i don't think the city of santa barbara appreciated it too much. >> sheriff officials say it started when officers tried to break up a fight. >> smashed the backpack into the face of the u.c. officer. knocked him down, split his forehead open to the extent he needed extensive surgery.

>> it was movie like mayhem. some tore stop signs out of the ground and paraded around with them. others lit small fires, damaged property and performed bizarre acts. they attached a dog to he had lehman yum balloons. >> yes attempting to make him fly away. >> shot tear gas and shot rubber bullets. >> 10 to 15 people out on the balcony and- >> -- people launched objects including bricks including a police line hitting them in the face. six of them were injured. sheriff brown says it could have been much worse if officers had not acted quick. >> i could have been loss of life many more injuries and much more property damage. >> we have seen spring break craziness before and talking points is not saying there is a political component to that disgraceful display. it was simply a bunch of kids getting drunk and deciding to cause trouble. however, it is much easier to decide to cause trouble when you do not respect people and property. you are more likely to destroy property if you don't care about who is

affected. and if you don't respect the authority of the police, you are nor likely to attack them. , example number 2, dartmouth college in new hampshire have a radical amount of students that believes dartmouth is a place that harms minorities. rather than than transfer to more ebb lightened school. some of these divided to occupy the college president's office. shades of 1968. the school's president phil hanlin handled the situation badly. incredibly he allowed the defiant students stay in his office for two full days. when they finally left hey, don't worry about it, nothing much is going to happen to you except a few hearings. now, if i had the been the president of dartmouth i would have given the students 30 minutes to vacate my office or they would expelled and charged with trespass. >> they're fringe people grievances are largely absurd. quote from their press release. the burden should not lie with systematically

oppressed students affected by racism, classism, imperialism, nativism, sexism, hetero sexism. cis-sexism and ableism to ensure our own well being. safety and continued existence at dartmouth college, yet, are are lived, experienced at dartmouth have been so violent that we were driven to write a plan for such an assurance, the freedom budget, unquote. for the record, cis-sexism has something to do with transgendered rights and ableism is discrimination against people with disabilities. now, i didn't know better i would think that press release was written by the harvard lampoon but it's serious. those loons believe dartmouth is a do you did. of course those nutty students are part of the

grievance industry. everything the establishment does offends them. and now they have been empowered by president hand loan. are we all getting this? again, the grievance industry is being driven by elements of the democratic party very successfully as many americans are now buying into the fact the allegation that the u.s.a. is unfair, insensitive and down right bad. so expect' to see more of this kind of madness in the future. if you are not a rich white guy, chances are, you are the victim of discrimination. therefore, we must have gender equality, race equality, sex equality, income equality, everything equality or it's just not fair, not fair. the unintended consequences of a political deception like the ininequality deal is a symbolic frankenstein monster, the creation of a

disaster. you know what the worst part is? there is inequality in america because inequality exists in every country. in order to deal with that intelligent discussion and smart policy changes should take place, crazy people and you hustlers are controlling the debate. because of that constructive problem solving will be hard to come by. the grievance industry is unleashed. that's the memo. next on the rundown, a white man hits a black child with his truck in detroit. a mob just about kills the man. a viewer warning, our next story very intense. right back with it. impact segment tonight. violence in detroit. last week a tree trimmer a 4-year-old was driving a truck when a 10-year-old boy darted into the street and the truck hit him. he left his vehicle to attend to the boy but

quickly surrounded by a group of young men who beat him into a coma. police have arrested 17-year-old bruce winbush and three other men who will likely be charged with a variety of crimes. the fox affiliate in detroit picks up the story. >> joseph utash speaking only to fox 2. just back from the hospital where his father is still in a comb marks several days after being viciously beaten by as many as a dozen people. >> the doctor actually said, you know, i can't tell you whether he is going to remember you or your daughter. that's hard but we know my dad is a fighter. it takes a real bad person to do that i couldn't even do that to it the people that did this to my dad. >> police say utash stop to help a 10-year-old boy he hit with his pickup on the city's east side. the son is not sure the story is that simple. fox 2 obtained surveillance video from a nearby gas station moments before and after the beating. joseph utash has seen the unedited tape shows children playing a dangerous game. stepping into the street and running back before the cars

come. the 10-year-old was treated and released from the hospital. police have not confirmed what the video does show but many wonder if it captured racial texas at its worse. the family won't comment publicly on what they think. >> why did they beat him up? did they beat him to rob him or beat him for the kid or beat him just to beat him? and that's where the racial thing comes. in it doesn't make sense that they just beat him because he white. too hard to accept it's t. was a racial thing. >> joining us from detroit frank beckman radio talk show host and womennably reporter for the fox affiliate is this a racial deal mr. wimbly. >> so far we don't know. detroit police never ruled out the possibility that this could have been a hate crime. but so far they say they haven't really seen or heard anything that would suggest that the attack was racially motivated. >> how about your reporting? you have been talking to the folks down there. what do they say? >> a lot of people are ticked off about what happened that a man who stopped to help out this 10-year-old boy, david

harris, after hitting him he stopped to see if the boy was okay, to check um on him and then he was attacked. a lot of people, everyone here is pretty much upset about this. black, white, you name it, everyone is ticked off that this happened. and they want to seat guys responsible brought to justice. >> all right. mr. beckman, how do you see he it? is there a race component here? >> maybe not initially, bill, but certainly on a secondary level. i talked earlier tonight with a lady named debra hughes who is a former nurse who came to steve utash's aid after he came to be beaten on the ground outside that gas station. she said the words that were being shouted first by one man who said you are the one who hurt my nephew. then she said other men were shouting from the mob that was around. there were 100 to 150 people around. others shouting it's the white guy. get the white guy. that may be just a means of identifying him. but the issue of race came up in that way the shocking thick is that none of the

people in this crowd except for this brave woman, this former nurse came to steve utash's aid. they participated in this horrific beating for no reason at snrul. >> what happened to the nurse when she came to mr. utash's aid. did anything happen to her? >> no. she went to attend to him and the beating stopped when she went down and actually laid on the ground next to him, tried to comfort him to see whether she could offer any support. and she said she shoved on his chest some to make sure he was still breathing. she did everything she could until the ambulance arrived to take him away. but nobody else tried to assist except for this brave woman, who by the way, said that she also had a gun in her pocket and, if needed she would have used it. >> all right. now what kind of neighborhood is, this mr. wimbley, i understand that this gas station where the children were playing is a gathering point? but it is primarily black neighborhood, correct? >> this is the east side of detroit that you are referring to. and by large a pretty fairly

rougher side of town. detroit is pretty rough for the most part. for the most part. not every neighborhood but many. >> i understand it's so rough that white citizens are said not to want to go there. is that true? >> i can't really speak to that i couldn't really say. >> how about you, mr. beckman, you have heard that? >> did i hear it. we have had callers on my talk show who have said that very thing. we very had delivery men who said they had to go down there. people who had business, private investigator working on insurance claim and they are very fearful when they go down there. it's a very tough neighborhood even ms. hughes has been there less than a year, she said she is planning to move out soon because she doesn't like the number of people who gather and wander around the streets especially that gas station which is becoming a problem in detroit, bill. we have got this problem elsewhere. this isn't the first time we have had an incident involving young people attacking folks at gas

stations in detroit. >> the nurse is a black woman. >> yeah, wait a minute, mr. beckman, the nurse who helped mr. utash, is she a black woman. >> yes. yes, she is. >> and the other element here is that there was a robbery that mr. utash's phone and money were taken from his truck. is that correct, mr. wimbley. >> it turns out not the case. that was the original story but that is not the case. i just got off the phone with the detroit police spokesperson who says the wallet was found. initially it was reported, we heard, from every reliable source mr. utash was robbed but turns out that wasn't the case. >> do you believe, mr. wimbley there will be a bias charge lodged in this case? >> i can't really speak to that. four people are in custody right now. one of them has been charged with assault with intent to murder and assault with intent to commit great

bodily harm. another 16-year-old kid will likely be charged soon. they are decide if he will be charged as an adult. i don't think the prosecutors are going to go easy on them. >> no, i don't either. a hate crime as you you knowntol system. one last question for you, mr. beckman, mr. utash is still in the hospital, any update on his condition? >> no. just that he is still in this induced coma and his family is praying that he survives and that's a major concern to everybody here in detroit that he pulls through. this absolutely. >> the other part is, you know, bill, this is a community that's got a very thin skin. we feel like only the bad parts of detroit ever get shown and when i told the police spokesman earlier today he i was going to be on here tonight he said please don't judge our city by a small subset of people that give our city a bad reputation. >> i think that's fair. easter protest. muslim father objects to egg hunt on religious grounds.

hume zone segment tonight, will jeb bush run against hillary clinton for president in 2016. putin causing more trouble in ukraine. joining us from washington fox news senior political analyst brit hume. lead's take putin first. secretary of state kerry scheduled yet another meeting. what do you think is going to happen? >> well, a couple of things, bill. this certainly fits the pattern established in crimea where agitation leads to, you know, a referendum or two-to-calls for referendum and then you have, you know, intervention. and if the pattern holds, that looks like that's what putin will do. he will wait for the first russian to be or russian citizen or russian person to be killed or beaten up or something and the trouble that you see unfolding there and when the blood is spilled, then he will find that that is an excuse for intervention to protect russians and here we go again. as for what john kerry will be able to achieve in

talking to our european allies, it's no way to know for sure, but the results so far of his discussions with them have not been very encouraging, germany is the most important country in that group. germany is the one i would think is least willing to do anything as regards russia for all kinds of reasons. we have also our own set of reasons, the space station, cooperation for transshipment to supply lines in afghanistan and so forth for not wanting to do much. so, my guess is, nothing much will happen. >> okay, so even if putin goes into eastern ukraine under the false pretense of protecting russian-speaking people there, you think it's just going to continue. but, surely, president obama has to know how embarrassing this will be for him and how his poll numbers will continue to drop because there isn't anyone who doesn't understand that putin is the aggressor and taking advantage of what he perceives as a weak western world. >> i think the president will try to introduce new

sanctions. the question is whether they will be enough to deter putin, i think the administration at least hoped that this first round that was imposed would make a difference and it seems not to have done so. >> okay. jeb bush, you know him pretty well, right? >> i have known him a long time. >> yeah. is he a pretty smart guy. i think he did a nice job in florida. not an idealogue. more of a problem solver, particularly education. on the wrong side of a lot of issues for conservative republicans. but, it looks to me like he is getting ready. >> well, i think, you know, the way he is acting suggests a much greater interest in running this time than we had at any previous cycles. >> yes. >> it was often thought when his father was president or even before he was president that the most talented politician in the family was jeb, that he would be the one most likely to follow in his father's foot stepping. that was not to be. but is he a very ache attractive guy. is he very bright. is he very decent. he is not -- is he not as conservative as some, but he

is certainly no liberal his positions on immigration and some positions on education are offensive to people, for example, members of the tea party, i think. i can't speak for all of them but i know a lot of them will find them objectionable. >> we might have the same situation you had with governor romney whereby a certain portion of the republican electorate won't vote for him because he is, you know, is he very sympathetic to illegal aliens. he likes the common core. what is that -- >> -- common core educational standards, yeah. >> which i can't understand them. i have no idea what this thing is he likes that conservatives think it's a plot, the government to control education and minds. and then immigration, obviously conservatives want to fairly hard line to it. so, if he does run, and i think the reason he is even thinking about it is because there really isn't any big challenge tore jeb bush. if he goes in, he is going to have the money and he will probably get the

nomination. >> well, he certainly would have a good chance. let me make a few points about that bill. he said in his conversation with our colleague shannon bream over the weekend that he wanted to run in the spirit of joy and he didn't want to -- you know, he didn't want to get down in some bloody -- he didn't say this. >> good luck. >> he didn't want to get in some bloody protracted negative nasty primary fight. so what did he do? he mentioned specifically his position on immigration, which he is for immigration reform and he mentioned his position on common core. it seemed to me that the effect of that is to roll a couple of cherry bombs out into the political arena to see what kind of reaction it will provoke and if the reaction isn't as harsh and it's negative as he imagines it might be, that might encourage him to run. i don't think he has decided to do it yet though. >> all right. brit hume, everybody. when we come right back, bernie goldberg very upset over a ceo being forced to resign because he supported gay marriage. not -- no, i'm sorry, he supported traditional marriage. then, watters outside a

say? >> i say if you lose your job because you have incorrect position on same sex marriage, then that's a pretty good example of liberal intolerance. this is what liberal orthodoxy looks like. that on certain issues, like same sex marriage, you are expected to march in lock step. if you don't, you will be purged. you may lose your job as this man did at mozilla but you will certainly be called a bigot. and what's interesting is that the people at mozilla, the liberals who work at mozillaened a other places like that, they worship at the altar of diversity. skin color diversity, ethnic diversity. sexual orientation diversity but there is one kind of diversity they won't tolerate. diversity opinion on matters that are important to them and that's why i think these liberals have forgotten how to be liberal. bill, one point very quickly. for the record, i support same sex marriage.
