victims on the grassy area on the exterior of the school. and upon entering the building, i was met in the first floor highway by the school resource officer. and i observed a male security guard with a stomach wound near by the officer. the officers at the time had the suspect, the 16 year old suspect in custody and handcuffed. >> reporter: he was allegedly armed with two knives and went from classroom to classroom and hallways in the high school tabbing and slashing people in a 30 minute rampage. 19 students and one adult staff member was injured. the school principal had contact with the suspect and one of the guys who helped to tackle him to get him in custody. two students were in critical condition and have been stable otherwised.

since the boston marathon bombing. a hearing on response on the behalf of law enforcement. a new report showed that intelligence agencies missed key signs. north carolina hudsop is on there. >> is the hearing over? >> the hearing has concluded. >> what did you learn that we need to know now, about this from one year ago? >> the report we prepared in the homeland security committee had findings of areas of break down that we need to work on. the former police commissioner from boston testified and agreed with the findings. in particular, better information sharing between the feds and locals, and giving more access to the fbi terror watch list. and a better job of screening of folks traveling internationally.

she's responded well to medication. and on thursday. the uss coast guard and navy began the rescue operation. they parachuted in to the water and boarded the boat and stabilized the young girl. and the war ship travelled a thousand piles back to san diego. the young girl showed signs of salmonella poisoning and fever and a rash. she has responded to the medication. the family responded to the criticism that they were not prepared and not having to pay for the rescue. in part, their statement released through the navy. >> we understand there are those to question our decision to sail. this is how our family has lived for sen years and we were then and remain today confident that
