threat at a local walmart. we have details about the suspect in custody. >> but first we begin with the conflict in ukraine. proceed russian separatists refuse to give up control of several occupied government buildings in eastern ukraine despite a diplomatic agreement. meantime officials in kiev are calling forr an easter truce, promising to suspend military operations. but the situation is still volatile. leland has more details. >> reporter: no question about it, this is really a cold waresque standoff we have going on here with eastern ukraine caught in the middle of the west, united states and a lot of europe is supporting the very weak government in kiev while moscow has thrown its full weight and support behind the russian separatists. for the first time the russian

military is now admitting that they have troops on the border with ukraine, tens of thousands of them, and they're not there for a military exercise like the russians first said, but they're there because of the you been rest here and obviously there are a lot of people who fear the russians will send those troops across the border in take eastern ukraine by force as they did in crimea a little bit more than a month ago. many here are saying that the russian separatists are actually being support eed and organizedy the russian intelligence services in terms of their organization, hair suppotheir s their weapons. and those separatists hold a numberer of government buildings. they're badly outnumbered and outgunned by russian military when it comes to try to kick the separatists out. they have called for this easter truce, but a lot of people question whether the ukrainian military has the tactics and training and weapons that would

>> reporter: the ferry's captain has gedefended why he didn't te passengers to abandon immediately. he feared they said be swept away as no rescue ships had arrived. he and two of his crew were charged with negligence and failing to secure the safety of passengers in violation of maritime law. >> translator: at the time the current was very strong. temperature of the ocean water was cold. and i thought that if people left the ferry without proper judgment, if they were not wearing a life jacket and even if they were, they would dwrift away and face many other difficulties. >> reporter: the captain also confirmed he wasn't on the bridge at the time of the accident, but instead in a cabin. a prosecutor said the third mate, a 25-year-old woman, was steering the ferry at the time of the accident and was navigating the area where it sang for t sank for the first time. the vessel made a sharp turn just before sending it first distress signal.

some experts believe that tight turn could have dislodged heavy cargo including more than 150 vehicles and destabilized the vessel. divers have seen no evidence that the ship may have hit rocks. relatives of the hundreds still missing, most of whom are schoolchildren, believe many more would have escaped if they had moved to evacuation points before the ship listed sharply and water started flooding in. dive teams have finally imagined to get into the passenger decks and spotted three bodies through a window, but weren't 5b8 able crack the glass and retrieve them. but they haven't given up hope of finding survivors. >> thank you, david. search crews have recovered a 13th body on mount ever rest. it's being called the deadliest disaster on the world's highest peak. three people are still missing.

dominic has the latest efforts. >> reporter: this has shaken the world to its core. never seen an avalanche quite like this. what happened friday morning was a large chunk of ice broke off at around the 19,000 feet altitude mark. and it collapsed just below base camp. and this is according to blog accounts from climbers on the mountain. and it fell several hundred feet and collapsed on top of 30 sherpas who had been carrying equipment down the mountain. and they regularly do this. wi this is what they do on behalf of the foreign expedition teams. they were engulfed, 13 dead. another three bodies believed to be in the snow. it is chaotic situation at base camp which is where we are hearing from climbers from the scene, one managed to reach home

via satellite home. take a listen. >> so far they've flown down over 13 bodies, both this body bags and just happeneding held down the line to a helicopter. base camp is kind of scram link and all the teams are pitching in and trying to get the bodies off the mountain and get attention and medical treatment to those. >> everest happens to be the tallest. however, the sherpa community wants to see this season wrapped up as soon as possible. and actually get a lot of people off the mountains to prevent anything else like this from happening. >> there has been a loss of 15, 20 lives or pmanpower. it would be in respect for them if all the climbing sherpas would do this.

the plane vanished six weeks ago and today 2they were scanning te surface for debris. more troubling revelations for general motors. government documents showing that gm waited for years to recall nearly 335,000 saturn ions for power steering problems, despite getting thousands of consumer complaints and warranty repair claims and the ntsb didn't recall the ions even though it opened up an investigation more than two years ago. so a government watch dog has found a problem that caused 12 catches and at least two injuries. millions of people have big outdoor plans tomorrow for easter. so will the weather cooperate? or will all those eggs and bonnets get soaked?

j.d. >> some bonnets could get a soaking, but it does look like the easter bunny is bringing up some spring temperatures. this is the first weekend that i can remember that we're not talking about a winter storm affecting the u.s.. and look at these temperatures. not bad, right? and can you believe it's warmer in new york city than it is in tampa, florida. because we have an area of low pressure moving in. but certainly slept weather across the central u.s. and across portions of the southwest, as well. we do have some showers to tell you about, but nothing that will be a big storm maker here. we do have a low pressure off the coast here bringing the potential for showers and thunderstorms. that will go into sunday. a little bit of a cold front moving across the upper midwest and hit or miss showers across the southwest, as well as the northwest. there is the southeast where we're watching for the potential of heavy rain, maybe flooding especially overnight and in to tomorrow. but again, not too big a deal

help americans. u.s. state department says it gives us 46,000 temporary job, but 35, 35, 35 permanent jobs. and 15 temporary jobs from there. i don't see the buy-in for us and i think we need to study more environmentally. there are leaks in the pipeline already. you have three people who locked themselves in in protest in 2013 and they saw leaks all over the place. there are no spill protections. we have the aquifer in nebraska. they're upset. texas is upset. we still need time to look at the keystone pipeline. >> tammy, mitch mcconnell describes it quite differently. he says the keystone pipeline project is the single greatest shovel ready project. and there are reports 42,000 jobs could be created. so what is keeping the president from approving the plan?

>> well, everyone acknowledges that there are tens of thousands of jobs right away. and if you're out of work right now, even if they say it's temporary, it's better than nothing. congress is always talking about cutting off unemployment insurance. so 45,000 jobs is nothing to sneer at. but look, this is a symptom of the obama presidency. nothing we're unfamiliar with. this is a man who doesn't want to govern, isn't interested in making difficult decisions for the country. and what does it tell you about the senators of the democratic senators that wrote to him? they're all weak in the upcoming midterms. and one of their arguments is that they're influential because of their imconsume bekuconsume . this proves they are not. obama doesn't quawant to make choices. there seems to be a disaster that follows the nature of his style which is to say nothing, do nothing.

programming community and this is an open source community. and to understand that, these are programmers who really have donated their time to build out the internet in what is known as open source or rather open ssl. very complex term. but it stands for secure socket layer. don't ask me what that is. if you want to know the answer, talk to somebody with one of those plastic pen holders in his pocket. but it created a flaw that was previously unknown and it permits people to tap in and get information from you and i. >> do we know who is behind this? >> we do not. obviously cyber criminals would like to exploit this. it may have been just an oversight. there are even reports that some government agencies have known about it, that everyone the nsa has noknown about it but chose t to inform anybody which sundis

understandable. but it's important to understand how it hurts us. you and i, we go on the internet and we use a password. and you connect to a vendor. and you set up this secure pipe, this communication. and you're talking back and forth. and you're transmitting data and using a password to do that pap that is a secure pipe that is encrypted. who hole in the internet permits somebody who knows about it to go in and understand that conversation, steal your password. so it's pretty serious and it's probably considered the most serious widespread vulnerability we've had. >> can anybody stand to ignore the bug? a lot of times map users are somehow protected. >> we're all exposed. currently open source or rather open ssl, about 66% of the internet uses it. from what i understand and i've talked to some experts in the

field, about 70% is vulnerable. but even government organizations, those that secure the fbi, use ssl. >> so is it as easy as changing all your passwords? >> that's the first step and we've all gotten the e-mails from the vendors that say go out, change your password. you should probably change it every so often. don't use the same password for every site. i was talking with one of our program everies, they actually put up some information on our site, you can get information there. >> and michaels is a business affected. but what are businesses doing to protect their clients? >> it's a big problem. they will have to spend a lot of money. and the interesting thing, this open source software that is free to everybody to use, these companies make billions of dollars, but there is no reason

keep costs down on the plan. so to some september on whiexte you get what you paid for. i'm not saying everybody on the pla plan isn't qualified. but a lot of doctors will say i can't practice medicine the way i want to. i've had minor hopefully medical issues lately, but you walk into the doctors' offices and there are big signs if you are on this plan, you can only see this doctor, if you're on this plan, you can see this doctor. if you're not on any of these plan, take out your check basic. you don't belong here. and the insurance companies are in the middle of this. they're setting the reimburse chlt ra ment rates. and a lot of there of doctors io say, look, i'm not seeing ten patients an hour.and a lot of do
