>> that's good because i didn't bring breakfast this morning. we have all the viewers this morning send us your easter photos of your little ones decked out in their easter outfits. put it on instagram and twitter and we'll show it to you throughout the show. all the kids are getting their easter basket this is morning and you are not there for yours. >> i know. >> who is the easter bunny in your home? we are taking you live to st. peter's square where pope francis just finished easter sunday mass for more than 100,000 people in st. peter's basilica. not a cloud in the sky, just a beautiful day. the pope is about to give his message to the world. let's bring in lauren green. what is his message this year? >> he didn't tell me, but his message throughout his papalcy has been throughout the poor and he has put pressure on the

clergy throughout the world to live similar claims of minds with the situation down in atlanta, georgia, with the archbishop gregory who was pressured to give up his $2 million house he just built. another situation in newark, new jersey, with another archbishop building a half-million renovation onto his own place. so this message of humility is what it is about, but it was a good friday service where he didn't give the mass. it was another priest who gave the homily and talked about the evil of money. so you see, this is a very big scene that is going to go through his papalcy. and he said that almost every sin can get -- goes back to money. that's the problem with money. we think money is the root of all evil, but the bible says the love of money is evil. when money becomes the ultimate source of your trust, then it becomes evil.

>> to his point to some degree, people have kind of relied on money to get them through everything. and forgotten the least of these, which is also biblical, that whatever you do to the least of these, where were you when i was homeless or sick and needed help? and it seem that is pope francis is trying to convey that message that christ talked about so eloquently embodied in matthew 25 which he talks about the least of these. >> absolutely. one of the things interesting about pope francis, which i think the general population has really clinged to, they don't know why, but i think this is why. because he has a very nuance approach to the gospel message. and a lot of people saw conservative or liberalism and not communicating what the gospel message is. >> what is the gospel message? to love all and not focus on the

rules? >> a little bit of that, but one of the things pope francis is trying to do is especially with the idea of family. you will see this scene throughout the next few months getting closer to the fall, one of the things is he's doing and looking at the reality of people living. people live in cohabitation, they don't stay married, there are same sex unions, there are single heads of households, polygamy, all sorts of different ways people live in this world. some of them legal, some not legal, some of them acceptable, even issues like adultery or divorce, these are things pope francis wants to address. he wants them to be out in the open and then he wants to figure out a way, how to minister to those people so that the gospel becomes the way to transform lives, not a set of rules and regulations. >> so he's actually talking

about the asterisk of forgiveness. >> absolutely. people sense that in him, there's something different. he's saying the same things about the ideas of marriage. he's saying, it was just a few weeks ago where he came out with a huge homily on what marriage is, between a man and a woman, and there was no hint of civil marriage or anything, nobody took up on it. nobody criticized him. maybe they didn't think he was telling the truth. they didn't understand. but this is what his message is. these are the rules. this is the golden standard of the way it should be, but i understand that not everybody live that is way. but we're not going to focus on that and to gus focus on the go >> very symbolic because today is the new beginning. christians believe that christ has risen today and we go forward being forgiven for our sins and starting all over again. >> the catholic church has seen the numbers go down and decrease, but many people are

saying that they love this pope because he's been so good for the catholic church. he's drawing more people, especially the millenials and the younger generation back to the church, because he's focusing on not necessarily the issues and the rules, but it's the message. >> right. he's keeping it real. he really is just -- the kids that came to the pope mobile, he's using -- the pope mobile was a way to keep it away from him. he's using it as another vehicle, no pun intended, to bring people closer to him. >> he's even taking selfies. >> with the people. >> we want you to take your selfies this morning and send us your easter photos. lauren greene, great to have you this morning. a beautiful morning there in vatican city, not a cloud in the sky. a beautiful easter sunday. thank you so much. >> thank you. >> thank you, lauren, so good to see you, as always. >> happy easter. or resurrection sunday.

passenger ships hit a fishing boat. and in 2009, three boats reported engine problems. meanwhile, 52 people are now confirmed dead with the number expected to rise throughout the day as 250 people are still missing. the ship's captain and two crew members are in custody. >> a scary moment on board a united airlines flight when pilots discovered a crashed windshield. the flight took off from newark's jfk airport ape the closest airport to handle the boeing 747 was in minnesota. and a pro russian checkpoint in ukraine shot five people dead there. they are being controlled by pro-russian forces. this comes as the u.s. is considering sending 150 troops to poland for military exercises. and he was there to talk

terrorists? >> remember in 2009 we had the ft. hood shooter in texas who said to mow down people. we didn't call that domestic terrorism, we called that workplace violence. for harry reid to call u.s. citizens protesting what happened to cliven bundy domestic terrorists, that makes me worry that the government is thinking of taking hostile force rather than those who are their bosses. >> you talk about hostile forces. and what we saw with the blm, the burro of land management, they has several with weapons pointed toward citizens of the united states. and they are not the only ones who are out there armed. what should be our concern about this? >> well, about 80 federal agencies have gotten training in law enforcement techniques and tactics. >> why? >> well, that's the question. because sometimes the raids are appropriate. sometimes, though, they go after people for, you know, education

fraud, student loan fraud, sometimes they go after them for selling raw milk across state lines. they actually bang down the doors. so my view is we need to lower the temperature on all sides. >> exactly. and let's take a look at the agencies right there. you mentioned there were 80 agencies. the food and drug administration, why would they need a s.w.a.t. team? the department of education, the fish and wildlife service, department of agriculture, what is the federal government fearful from its own citizenry? >> a couple of them don't really have s.w.a.t. teams. the department of agricultural and fish and wildlife, they have teams that aren't armed? >> they aren't? >> well, they are. if you think you need force for regulation, insult with the real law enforcement agency like the fbi and get advice and tactical expertise involved there. i think too often we have non-violent citizens being confronted by federal agents with guns when it is not necessary. >> john, last time i checked, we

were government by the people and for the people and of the people. what is the deal here? how can you have that when you have certain members of the government who could be threatening in a situation that should be non-threatening and negotiated through peaceful dialogue? >> you know, with cliven bundy, there's a court judgment against him. i think he would have respected the sheriff if he showed up and demanded property be transferred over or something like that. there are all kinds of thing that is can be done before you send the fed in. >> i can't speak on bundy's defense, but he's had the land since 1970s in his family. >> and been fighting with the courts for 20 years and the courts say he's wrong. over the grazing rights issue. and this is the rule of law. and i believe people should follow the rule of law. and if you want to change the law, you should change it. but, there are things of portionalty. having harry reid say these are domestic terrorists and justify sending agents in fully armed to

good morning. welcome back on this easter sunday. we have quick headlines for you. one of the friends of the accused boston bomber requesting a change of venue for his upcoming trial. it was set to take place in boston but now his attorney doesn't think he'll get a fair trial there. he's accused of trying to hide in dzhokhar tsarnaev's do you remember room. and gm has been criticized to the slow response to the deadly ignition switch problem. they are having issues there. and pope francis just finished his st. peter's message in st. peter's square. and christians around the world are celebrating the resurrection

of jesus christ. and this morning conner powell is live in jerusalem with the latest. nice to see you, happy easter to you. >> reporter: nice to see you, happy easter to you. this is a specially unique easter with the eastern and western calendars lining up so all branches of christianity are celebrating easter, the protestants, roman catholics and orthodox are celebrating east they are weekend. just a few minutes ago, the largest celebration in vatican city at st. peter's square where pope francis delivered his message to the faithful, just saying to the crowds there, some 100,000 are so, that in jesus, love his conquered hatred. mercy has conquered sinfulness and goodness conquered evil. he also prayed for an end to the wars around the world, but particularly in syria where he prayed for the victims and asked everyone around the world to pray for those suffering there.

that. >> peep, peep, peep. >> thank you, dunkin' donuts. >> a limited time, go to your favorite dunkin' donuts. let me tell you about the headlines this morning. a massive sinkhole opened in florida threatening to swallow two houses. what is going on with this? we report this all the time. this is in the villages in sumter county. heavy rains caused this to grow and is 30 feet wide, 60 feet deep. both homes have evacuated. crews hope to stop it from getting bigger by filling it with sand and cement. scary moments at a walmart in texas after a masked man threatens to blow up the place. the man was arrested following a four-hour standoff with police. the store was put on lockdown with dozens of people inside.

the 35-year-old, here's his picture, now charged with making terrorist threats. the bomb squad did not find any explosiv explosives. and a woman buying a lottery ticket, this is the store you love, kelly, the woman buying the lottery ticket in chicago got really lucky for another reason. take a look. well, you can see there behind all the machines, a truck crashing into the store. right where she was standing. she was pinned against the wall. she's expected to be okay. the truck hit another car first and then went careening into that store. the driver now facing several traffic violations. she was there buying a lottery ticket and she was lucky -- >> she must be feeling very lucky. >> maybe she wants to press her luck again and buy more lottery tickets. >> i like to cover the paranormal here, and there's a number of weird photos over

spring is coming. and for going to your easter sunrise service, it looks good. we have a couple trouble spots to tell you about of small little areas across parts of west texas from midland to the i-20 over to abilene and lubbock. could be looking at a little bit of severe weather. tomorrow we'll wide than including dallas, but the next big chance for severe weather is this week wednesday or thursday. take a look at the forecast for the day across the northeast. look at that, hardly a cloud in the sky with temperatures in the 40s, 50s and 60s for everybody throughout the day. a nice day, not as warm as yesterday, but still a nice one. down to the southeast, we'll deal with the rain across coastal areas of the carolinas. and you will see showers and thunderstorms across parts of texas and western oklahoma throughout the afternoon, but overall, not that bad. and into the northern plains, we do have a little bit of a front just kind of stalled out there to bring scattered showers from time to time. nothing that's going to wash out the day. look at the temperatures, 62 in aber dean.

59 in bismarck, looking great. all right, guys. thank you, rick. well, this is an incredible story. we think about our kids greing up and worry about them getting into trouble once in a while, but we don't think about what the white house is telling us to worry about with our kids. lisa monaco, the president's assistant in homeland security, you can read the speech on the website talking about countering violence extremism and the power of community. she's basically telling parents that we can stop domestic terrorism in this country by paying attention to our kids because our kids could grow up to be terrorists. there are things to look for in your children if their attitude changes, keep an eye on their personality changes because it could lead them to terrori. >> she's talking about them becoming radicalized to terrorism. and the quote is, parents might see sudden personality changes

in their children at home, becoming confrontational, teachers might hear a student expressing an interest in traveling to a conflict zone overseas. or friends might notice a new interest in watching or sharing violent material. >> the interesting thing about the speech, she spinpoints the folks like this extreme guy, the racist guy, the ku klux klan guy in kansas, but she doesn't mention the radical extremists or the tsarnaev brothers. even russia said they saw sign that is the tsarnaev brothers could be dangerous, but she doesn't talk about that in the speech. >> what do you parents think about? we should be paying attention to our kids here at home? kids go through the whole phase, they don't want to talk to mom and dad and get reserved.

they just want to talk to their friends. all kids go through a phrase, should parents now keep an eye on our 15-year-old and 14-year-old kids to become terrorists? >> i think if she's going to go there and talk about this, she has to discuss what the tsarnaev brothers showed. they were accused of committing an act of violence. one is on trial and one is deceased. shot by police in a brutal gun battle, but what she failed to talk about was what motivated them. what's motivating them. if your child is in your home and you're keeping an eye on your child, you know what motivates your child. so you're taking care of your child and making sure your child is growing up in the right way to become a productive citizen. so i'm not sure what her message is about children, they could be budding terrorists. i'm not sure that's resonating well with us -- i have three children and grandchildren, and i have never seen anything to show me that they have some sign of being a terrorist. >> one of the things we learned

last week is that the russian government had more information about the tsarnaev brothers and failed to share that. >> people in america think something is wrong with their children, and parents are like, my child wouldn't do, that but maybe they are out of touch with their child. >> or maybe they are in on it with their child. the mother, there were phone calls alarming she made with her son. >> talking about muslim extremism. >> exactly. >> let us know what you think, you can read the full text of her speech causing controversy this morning. >> she does mention the boston bombing but doesn't tackle the radical muslim extremists. >> right, she walked over that. that's the whole point. let us know your thoughts. heading out on the road, the government is watching big brother sam. why the i.r.s. hired a license plate company to track you. plus, she hasn't been on the stage for a full show since 2011, but breaking this morning,

thank you, kelly. a new report out show that is the i.r.s. and many other federal agencies awarded $415,000 worth of contracts to vigilant solutions for their license plate tracking devices. so why is the government spending so much on tracking your information? and what exactly are they using it for? joining us to weigh in is a chief technology at the center for democracy and technology, josef hall, happy easter to you. nice to see you on the show. >> thank you, sir. happy easter. >> explain what this technology is. why would the federal government need it to track our license plates, what does it do? >> sure. there are two types of technologies here. the first is access to a database of license plate images. the other is actual things you mount on cars that can very quickly read license plates around the vehicle. it's put on. >> now that we know the technology, why would any federal agency want to use that type of technology?

>> so in some cases it's pretty clear, like the air force is very forthcoming that they want to use this at security gates to make sure vehicles entering air force bases are cleared to do so and don't have prior records and things like that. with the i.r.s. and other kinds of agencies, it's very unclear what they are using this for. it seems like they want this to essentially be a national location database of some sort. >> that's what is troubling. i get the air force, obviously with what's happened on the military bases recently, you want the security there such as you can get it with the cars going in and out, but the i.r.s. targeting conservative groups, we know when the i.r.s. does this it will raise eyebrows. we know the program ended in may of last year, is that correct? >> well, the contracts ended, we don't know to what extent they have access to this information as they are still collecting it. >> so the question is, why would the i.r.s. be putting cameras on their cars? and who knew they had a fleet of

cars traveling around capturing the data? what could they be using it for? >> i have a feeling the i.r.s. is purchasing access to the database, which is, you know, given american democracy where you are innocent until proven guilty, it's kind of suspect that they are essentially recording information about everyone, no matter if you have any violation or criminal sbebt or history whatsoever, so it is unclear. they need to be more forthcoming about what they are doing with this, who they are sharing it with, other agencies may have access to their data and things like that. how long they are keeping it for as well. >> i get that one of the agencies listed in this report is the forest service, so perhaps i can see maybe wanting to make sure cars going into parks are also coming back out of parks, i don't know. i don't know why the forest service would need it, but with the i.r.s., it seems to be one of the things where they want to know if you are lying about your taxes, that is to say you didn't travel this distance because you need to work here and there and are lying about it on their

as the members from the democratic party and the house and the senate. look at how they demonize and attack the tea party movement, which is nothing more than every day honest americans, hard-working americans, constitutional conservatives. they use the i.r.s. and other government agencies as you saw. the blm, to go against the americans, and you just had a segment with john fund talking about how we are arming a lot of these government agencies. >> colonel, it is interesting the timing of this because we are learning this morning that reid is involved in a farm 35 miles away from the ranch, and they confirm they took the cattle from bundy's farm because they needed to clear the way for a lucrative solar deal with transnational corporations. so is this politically motivated? >> absolutely. and happy easter to you. you have to see it as such because look at who is the head of the bureau of land management.

even as the ship was sinking. the ship's captain and two crew members are in custody. at least 52 confirmed dead. that number is expected to go up throughout the day as 250 people are still missing. a scary moment on board a united airlines flight when the pilots discovered a cracked windshield. the flight took off from new york's jfk airport and the closest airport to handle the large boeing 747 was in indianapolis. the plane made an emergency landing and passengers were transferred to another plane to make it safely to san francisco. and on this easter sunday, violent crashes breaking out in eastern ukraine with a gunman opening fire at a pro-russian checkpoint shooting five people dead. the area of ukraine is currently in control by pro-russian forces. this comes as the u.s. is considering sending about 150 troops to poland for military exercises. and one north carolina family's good friday turned great.

governments are kind of getting tired of the federal government digging into its own territory, its own state's rights, so this is a situation where they are saying, look, we want to find a way to, not only help the federal government, but also make sure that we are protecting the states and the citizens of that state. so when you see what is happening with the bundy ranch situation and the $1 million in grazing rights fees that the bureau of land management is trying to impose upon him, and the whole fight that's gone on, the lawmakers are saying enough is enough. >> you are in washington, you don't know what's happening on our land, we know how to manage the land better than you do. we know how to grow the economy better than you do. stay out of our business. >> that happened in idaho specifically saying, as an examing, our deforestati to, n programs and the lands less likely to catch fire are the ones managed by us. we know the foliage here and how to handle our land.

the ones igniting are run by the government. when i was a reporter in montana covering the governor's office back in 2000, there was a big land controversy in the clinton administration going out seizing federal land in the state of montana. and montana is saying, wait a second, this is our land. we as montanans know how to better manage our land than the federal government. >> exactly. the sage rush rebellion has been going on for a long time. >> what you're talking about is the fact that individuals, individual americans are saying, wait a minute. we live in this country. and it goes back to that song we may have sung when we were in school, this land is your land, this land is my land. and so people want to be respected for being able to help produce their land without the federal government sticking its finger in everything. >> right. how do you feel about this? do you fear the federal government? there was a recent poll that was taken, and the numbers are going up. many people are saying, yes, they are scared of uncle sam. look at this. almost 40% are saying, they fear

the federal government. >> 37%, unbelievable. thomas jefferson once said that americans, the federal government should fear the american people. the american people shouldn't fear its own government. and when that happens, it's time to throw the shackles a of government off and recreate a new one. is federal government a or protector? and today, 54% of americans think the federal government is a threat. and that's up significantly from 46% back in 2012. and why is that? because of the messaging that we're getting from the federal government or representatives of the federal government when you have senators who can say that people are protesting our domestic terrorists and not call terrorism at ft. hood what it is and call it workplace violence, off problem there. people are saying, wait a minute, what's happening with my federal government and i can't trust them anymore. >> and we are in business, too. businesses who don't know how to properly plan for the next year. the uncertainty in the

marketplace, is the federal government going to pick winners and losers in the case of the green program with solyndra and we remember the failed programs and the list went on and on. another round of spending is now back. that troubled green loan program which led to huge amounts of money to solyndra which collapsed and sold off what assets they have is coming back. the government says we never went away, but because of basically human outcry over solyndra, we had a quiet period where they were not loping out money like they did to solyndra, $527 million. >> what a bust. >> a look at the other companies dealing with this. $527 money to solyndra. a123 systems got $142 million. $55 million to abound solar. $40 to $60 million to bee bonn

pow con /* bee con power and the list goes on. >> if we focus on giving money to these types of programs like the anti-keystone pipeline efforts, and he's willing to give $50 million of his own money and $50 million of donor money to anyone's campaign that has the same stance. and he is for programs like this. >> that's why keystone -- >> one of the problems with that, clayton, is there are talks that this is reported that he spoke to the president and said, i want you to reject the keystone pipe line. and so now people are wondering, is that possible? could one man have that much sway? >> 10 or 12 billionaires at the huge base of the party, the huge donors, who said if you back the keystone pipeline, we will absolutely pull up our money and not support any future campaigns. let us know what you think about

the obama administration taking heat from republicans and democrats as it delays the construction of the keystone pipeline once again. did dollars play a role in all of this? fox news contributors jen pinkerton and allen rattner. good morning to you. >> happy easter. >> happy easter. allen, why do you think there's a delay? >> it's pretty clear that the san francisco billionaires have been advocating about this.

i wrote a piece back in february in which i said, tom is the green godfather who is basically telling the senate democratses they have to oppose it and now the obama administers is doing what it has been told to do. >> ellen, hard to ignore that. he's saying i'll give you $100 million if you shut down the keystone pipe line, but then you have the democrats saying they are shutting it down because of legal issues in nebraska. what do you think? >> i think, first of all, the president has to raise $100 million. there are people in the democratic party that want the keystone pipeline, i just had dinner with a couple of them the other night, so he's getting it from both sides of the party. but if you look at the nebraska court ruling, this is saying basically we have to put this on hold. the governor doesn't have the ability to go ahead with this. this is brought by three people who say that they, the keystone

pipeline is going to run through their land. i'm not going to put this onto politics. >> but let's go back and remember what would happen if we flip the two parties. the republican president and pm donors. and republican donors said to the republican president, we need you to do a regulatory decision on the pipeline. americans are making the point that if this was a republican donor and republican president making this decision on the pipe line and the president does what the donor wanted, there could be impeachment. instead, we are talking about, oh, there's a court decision, b blah, blah, blah. they are looking at every straw they can to shut the pipeline down, and the problem for democrats is voters are in favor of the pipeline.

and hagan and landreau of louisiana are in trouble because they are sacrificing they voters for those in california. >> the democratic party has spoken out against the coke brothers, is this hypocrisy here? >> i actually think it's not hypocrisy. i do think that people like republicans are also speaking out, such as jim, against democratic donors. you have both sides going after each other's donors who vote a lot of money. i think again, this exiled pipe line has a lot of legal problems. people don't want to go into the back of their land. and it's a lot more complex than people are giving it credit for. >> but it also could create a lot of jobs and save our country a lot of money. >> there's a lot of dispute about how many jobs it could really create. >> we build what we call the big engine, little engine pipeline

terrorists. at this time, it is not known how many people were killed in the latest attack. a massive sinkhole opens up. another one, look at that, this one still in florida. they keep happening in florida, threatening to swallow two homes there. this is the villages in sumpter county. now the hole is 30 feet wide and 60 feet deep. both houses have now been evacuated and crews hope to stop it from getting bigger by filling it with sand and cement. hopefully the houses will be okay. the brain injury turns a college dropout into a genius. jason pagent was knocked unconscious by muggers and thought he was going to die. but when he woke up the next morning, he saw the world in a new way with complex mathematical formulas. he's one of the few people in the world to draw fractiles with

and men who are less ambitious than them. especially if the woman is career-driven, then they don't have strife in the family. >> and that's called marrying down? almost a fourth of our country, women are making, how do i phrase this, 24% of women are making more than their husbands are. does that make sense? >> yes. so alpha women, beta men. alpha women and beta men. >> what do you think about this? >> i don't think the men should say, yes, dear, but they expect the wife to be the breadwinner. >> i don't agree with that. >> if she's really ambitious, and then he's really am bibitio the article is saying there's going to be strife. >> i don't agree with that. >> but here's where this changes, the tradition of what we've known, women and men to be in their relationship, women have traditionally gone on to get a good education but haven't

been paid as well, so in the past they would get married to attach themselves to mrs. marrying someone who is an alpha male earning a lot of money. a lot of that has changed now. >> and more and more women are getting into college, and fewer men are getting into college. the numbers for graduation rates among women are much higher, so the playing field has changed. >> because i'm the only woman on the panel today, i think i have the right to speak about this. i don't agree with that because i think if you are driven, you've got to find a partner that feels and acts and believes the same message that you do. and want to show that to your children. i don't necessarily think that a woman has to look for a man that's very wealthy. i just think you have to look for a man who has a good work ethic and is driven, but is also a good person, his actions prove that he loves you, not just his words, his actions prove that. and he wants to make a difference in the lives of others. it is not necessarily about the money. if i married someone who is

sins, jesus christ. and we hear an atheist group in wisconsin is not agreeing with what the coach is doing and having voluntary bible studies. what's happening? >> before i weigh in on it, if you don't mind, the reason why this matters is because on easter sunday we celebrate the fact that jesus died for our sins, we believe this as christians. remember the summary of that in isaiah chapter 53 that i love so much. for our sin, for our iniquity, he was wounded, right? he took on the stripes or the wounds for us in our place. the ultimate bailout. and that's what we believe. and so we see faith under attack. when we see people standing up, using their freedom of speech to say, jesus is a myth. first of all, we know historically that's not true, bewe say, that's okay, we wouldn't do. that i wouldn't do that. i'm not going to take out a poster against atheists, but

they have the right to do it. but we believe that this is actually true. and we're celebrating that today on this easter sunday. so in other words, i don't get too worked up about it. i'm not too fired up about it. it's good we bring light to it because it helps us. >> the timing is suspect. why not do this in a few months? >> because it's publicity. >> the one thing i can't get over is when you think about what happened, the significance of the day, it's all about love and forgiveness. i mean, anything you do, any transgression, there's forgiveness for that. >> absolutely. >> even if you're antagonistic or atheistic, god says, i'm still going to believe in you. >> someone asked me last night, why is good friday good? i was with a family and a bunch of their kids were around the table, and they said, father jon, what is so good about good friday? i said, imagine a friend laying down his life for another

friend. that would be very sad, it's very tragic, but it's something very good. and when you have the ultimate friend, god himself, saying, i'm going to take your place. i'm going to lay down my life for you. that's worthy of celebration. we know the end of the story. and that's why we celebrate easter sunday. >> before we let you go, you have to deliver mass in a few minutes downtown, what is your message? >> i believe it's very simple. what jesus said to us, and that is, i am willing to lay down my life for you, now are you willing to lay down your life for others? it comes down to service. it comes down to humility. to saying, thank you to god for what he's done for us and showing that thanks in action. and thinking about those who today have less than us. >> it's a good message for not being mad at the atheist group and to lay down our lives for them. >> and the forgiveness factor, it's all about love. >> i love how clayton got through the segment at the beginning because there was nothing coming up and you helped each other out, right?

divisions are emerging between conflict of russia and ukraine continues. but he prayed for peace between the warring nations and also in syria where more than 150,000 people have been killed in the past three years during that bloody civil war. the pontiff telling the faithful who pass st. peter's square today that in jesus, love conquers hate and god. and in goodness, it conquers evil. he spent the first year as pope preaching to the poor and reaching out to leaders of other faiths including rabbis. and in a month or so, pope francis makes a historic trip to the holy land with the head of the eastern orthodox church. it will be a message of unity in the christian world of these two leaders with billions of catholics and orthodox coming here to sort of say that this is one religion, we have our divisions, but mucunites

us going forward. >> conor, appreciate the report. he's extending faith to the entire globe to encompass everyone. conor reporting live from jerusalem about the pope and his easter sunday message. time for your headlines this morning. transcripts released from the sunken ferry in south korea show a crew member questioned whether evacuation was the right move, even as the ship was going down. the ship's captain and two crew members are now in custody. we've also learned the company that owns the ferry had issues before including one of their ships crashing to a fishing boat just three weeks ago. at least 58 people are now confirmed dead and 240 are still missing. for the second straight day, a u.s. air strike hits an al qaeda training camp in the mountainous region of yemen. and at this time, it is not known how many there were killed in that attack. yesterday ten al qaeda militants and three civilians were killed when a drone targeted a car in the southwest part of yemen.

the area is known to hold some of the world's most dangerous terrorists. and problems keep piling up for general motors. new documents show that dm waited years to recall nearly 335,000 saturn ions for power steering failures despite thousands of complaints. this comes as gm has been criticized for slow response to the deadly ignition switch problem in more than 2.6 million cars. he was there to talk safety. but one senator becoming the story after a very close encounter with a train. look at this. >> safety as you know is paramount. >> that's senator richard blumenthal almost taken out by the train. the democrat is trying to make metro north accountable for safety after nearly 140 violences were found. >> see that big yellow line?

you're not supposed to stand on that, they tell you that all the time, stand back. >> safety, senator. >> i'm not going to lie, it just got a little chilly. >> was it the train passing by? >> it's the breeze of the train. if you're heading out, you certainly want to bring a jacket with you to the easter sunrise service. you can't just go out in the sun dress or shorts, but we have a pretty nice day. look at the weather maps. here's what's going on. temperaturewise, you see that green area across the central part of the country. that's where we have 60s already. so kansas city, you're waking up to 60 degrees. that's pretty spectacular. cooler around the great lakes and the northeast. we do have one system that's brought a lot of heavy rain all across areas of the southeast this week. it brought some pretty significant flooding to areas of florida and georgia and now in towards the carolinas. we'll see that slowly drift to

the east today, so it's not a complete washout by the afternoon. some light showers coming in across parts from colorado over to areas of wisconsin, but that also is light and not going to cause problems. later today, we'll see big storms firing across parts of west texas from around lubbock, just south of the panhandle, down to midland, remnant of i-20 to abilene. tomorrow it moves farther to the east. we are not talking about big severe weather problems, but we'll see strong winds with this. today, your forecast across the country, phoenix, looking great, a warm 92. even the chicago temperature of 77. one of the nicest easters you've had in a long time. if anybody deserves it, it's chicago. they have had a miserable winter and a really cold spring. again, a nice easter. >> i love watching rick's hair right now. >> your hair is sticking straight up. it's so cute. >> it's freezing. >> thank you, rick. all right. let's talk about this. some eye-raising comments from one of the assistants on counter

terrorism from this white house. i think we can all agree that violent extremism in this country is the root and what is behind a lot of the terrorist activity that has unfolded on american soil over the past number of years. so that's why it is so interesting, she decided to specifically, lisa monaco, decided to gloss over any kind of violent extremism to muslim extremism in a ve sent speech on how to combat domestic terrorism here at home. >> the speech was at harvard. she was saying, look at signs in your children. if you see that your children are being confrontational, they could be on the verge of becoming terrorists. >> isn't every kid confrontational? >> every teenager. you know what? i have to applaud her for at least talking about this. because we have had so many shootings in the schools and talking to the parents later, they had mental instability in their lives, so she's bringing this to the forefront, if your

child is confrontational and they are building bombs in their bedroom, get them help and let authorities know. >> i get that but shooe's raisi eyebrows because she talked about the tsarnaev brothers and the 73-year-old man in devout about white supremecists and the man who shot three people in overland park, kansas, at a jewish community center and at a jewish retirement center. and by the way, none of the victims were jewish. and then she talked about the motivation there but failed to talk at the motivation of the two tsarnaev brothers with the boston marathon bombing. so she failed to seer row in on the radical extremism of islam but she was talking about domestic extremism. if you are going to talk about it, we'll put everything on the table because if you're trying to tell children or trying to tell parents to be mindful of what their children are going through, let them be exposed to everything that might radicalize their children.

>> she spoke of two things specifically. noticing if your children are becoming withdrawn and confrontational, which a lot of teens go through it, they don't want to talk to mom and dad, that's one thing, i get that. but she says if they have interest in traveling to a conflict zone around the world, they ex press some sort of interest of traveling to syria or yemen or something like that. that would probably raise eye bros, but she fails to mention that, by the way, if your son or daughter starts to watch internet videos by muslim extremists. anwar al malaki, if your son or daughter starts to watch those, but she makes no mention of that. the she just talks about confrontational teenagers. >> send your comments to us. we know the white house is now indefinite. but the question is why, why is there a delay? because some vulnerable democrats could be up for re-election and may have to deal

with the outcome of that? but many democrats want the keystone pipeline. >> 11 democrats wrote the president a letter saying please make a decision on this by the end of may. instead, as we know, going into the holiday weekend, the white house said and the state department agrees they are delaying it and extended it. so the question is, is it politically motivated? some believe it is because of the multibillionaire, tom steyer, who talked to the president specifically and said, don't vote for this. >> if you don't vote for this, i'm going to give your party $100 million. >> how much? >> $100 million. $50 million of his own money and then $50 million from his super pac. >> he's a big green guy and there's a number of big donors who have said, if you go forward with the keystone pipeline, you can count on democrats not getting any money from us.

jim pinkerton is having a debate about this. listen. >> this has been a republican donor and republican president making a regulatory decision on a pipeline and the president done with the donor wanted, the mainstream media, we talk about impeachment. instead, we are talking about the court's decision, blah, blah, blah, we all know this is a green zealot to close down the economy. they want to grasp at every straw to shut down the pipeline, and i think the problem for the democrats is the voters are in favor of the pipe line. and so democrats like hagan of north carolina and handreau of louisiana are in trouble because they are sacrificing their own voters to the goals of the green voters from california. >> to be fair and balanced, ellen ratner went on to say, the president can raise $100 million and doesn't have to listen to try to tell someone how to run his administration. however, it has the hint of

something amiss. >> $100 million is a lot of money. >> we had democratic governors signing off, you had governors who were worried about the environmental impact initially who passed the review phase in the state where is the governors came through and said, now we are on board. the recrew came through. with the jobs created, 42,000 jobs potentially created, but ellen pointed out there's controversy on the numbers being true. but the ceo said those numbers are accurate. >> what is interesting is that the democrats are all over the coq brothers for giving so much to republicans in money, but tom steyer is giving so much money to the democrats. and influencing decisions like this one. >> let me just say this, he talks about the environmental impact, but we know the oil already coming in on trucks is even dirtier by coming in on trucks across our border from

right now a fox news alert, violent clashes breaking out in eastern ukraine. a gunman opened fire at a pro-russian checkpoint. russian television stations reporting at least five people dead. so what happened to the peace deal? host of "fox news sunday" chris wallace is joining us now to weigh in on this issue. chris, great to see you. we'll start off with something very troubling to the united states as you know. you're going to be talking about it today, what do you find out

through your interview that's coming up on "fox news sunday" about the situation in ukraine? >> well, good morning and happy easter. whatever deal was worked out in geneva last week has had no impact on the ground. one of the things the deal said was that the pro-russian malitias that had taken over government buildings would disarm and leave the government buildings. they refuse to do so and say they had nothing to do with this. while they are there at the head of russia, they say russia doesn't tell them what to do. that is pro-russian checkpoint that was attacked by either ukrainian forces or perhaps more likely ukrainian right-wing nationalists. in any case, there are reports as to whether one is dead or four is dead, but there was violence that only gives a sense that this peace deal that was worked out in geneva has no

effect on the ground whatsoever. >> where is the united states in all of this? we know sanctions were carried out in some corners and the president in an interview talked about more consequences, but what consequences are we looking at here? >> the exclusiver into vu with the russian ambassador will be here, and we'll ask him about the kremlin view of all this. in terms of the u.s., and this is one of the things we'll be asking the ambassador about, you're exactly right. both secretary of state kerry and the president have threat upped more sanctions if the separatists don't lay down their arms again under this belief that the russians control the separatists. i think you would see these would not be the big industry-wide sector sanctions on the energy sector or the mining sector. i think you would see more of what we have seen before, targeting sanctions against some of the top people of the russian

governments, some top people of the russian economy, the oligarchs very close to vladimir putin. it may not be as tough as people like, but in fact the russian economy is down, the market index is down 10% in march, about 70 billion dollars in capital has fled the russian economy, gone off to other safer places so far this year, and there's talk that if these sanctions continue, it could push the russian economy into a recession. well, again, we'll be talking to the ambassador about all of that. >> chris, anyone else on your show today? >> of course, it's easter, anna, i'm sorry, ainsley. and we'll talk to donald cardinal wuerhl, the archbishop of washington. and we'll talk to him about pope francis and celebrating the second easter mass of his papalcy today in st. peters.

textures. and currently we are looking as doctors as when is the right time. we know from numerous studies under age 2 that traditional media is actually not helpful and can be harmful, but ipads and digital devices, the ipad was released in 2010, it is only four years ago, so we don't know about the effects. >> i'm a tech guy and love this stuff. i saw my son playing with, this is crazy, but when you travel, woodblock games on the ipad. so all sorts of puzzles, it was to simulate this, you are not bringing blocks on the airplane flight. >> exactly. >> you will annoy everyone with blocks all over the place, but able to interact with fake woodblocks on the ipad. and people look over your shoulder and say, that's amazing. but it's a tactile response to figure out how to figure out puzzles and shapes, but the interaction. we are not blindly handing him the tablet and going off to the mall somewhere. >> and that's the key. if you're going to, with a toddler, use a digital device,

you want to be interacting with them. and asking them questions and asking them what the color is, or if it is an animal, what sound does it make? i think the reality is the devices are in their lives here to stay. so we need to learn as parents how to utilize them properly and not just make them baby sitters. >> how much hours a day do you recommend a child to be on a tablet? >> currently the recommendation of the academy of pediatrics is under the age of 2 children shouldn't be exposed to screens at all. over the age of 2, limit the non-educational screen time to two hours. >> that's where i have the issue with this two sort of blanket rule because doesn't that mean if you're not interacting with your child? so if you're planting a kid in front of the tv and going off to the kitchen doing something. >> right. those studies lookeded at children under the age of 2. when they make the recommendation, they realize for kids under 18 months and for a lot of kids under 2, that watching traditional media

programming videos didn't, was not educational for them. in fact, you can play that movie forwards or backwards and get the same response from the child. >> okay. >> and we know there's an association in young children with language delays, with obesity, with aggression, when they are exposed to too much media. now that we have these digital devices that do have more interactive ways to use them, we really need to study what the effects are going to be. >> in moderation, back to the old rule. >> we always say everything in moderation, but you really want to be careful about the educational games and we need to look at, are they really educational or just presuming educational? >> nothing wrong with the old legos. >> i agree. get the kids in the backyard, play with blocks and get the tactile experience. >> i agree. caught on camera, a woman goes to buy a lottery ticket and now she's just lucky to be alive. how she managed to escape this amazing crash that she never saw

simple tripod. >> the tripod is great, but use the timer. >> one of the things i notice people do is take photos of their kids from up above. >> correct. >> and you want to take photos at eye level of your kids. that's what they have done here. >> you can see all the eyes with time to compose the expression. so they look a little bit more natural. you want to remember that. >> you'll be shocked how much better the photos look if you get to a child's level. speaking of kids, and this looks kind of fun because it is so gaudy. >> if you are doing a theme, more is not better. you want the child to be the focus of the picture. there are too many things going on. your eye doesn't know where to go in the picture. you want the child to be the part of the memory, and you want the child to do something more natural. you can see in the better picture, we've actually focused in on the child. the child is doing something that she would normally do. and as a result, she has a more normal smile. >> and this has a shallow depth

of field here with the eggs out of focus. >> in the past, de-focusing the background, but in the case we are de-focusing the foreground that you can do with a camera like this, not a smartphone. >> over here, this looks like a nice photo but it is not that exciting. >> let's say you go to church on sunday and say, we're going to take a family picture. everybody does that, but what happens with the pick xhur is that it's not really natural or a and it is hard to figure out what to do. too much grass. here's what happens, you wouldn't realize looking in the viewfinder of the camera is the railing or part of the house out of her head. >> and i always think that in these types of photos, the ugly or the weakest part of the photo is where your eye will go. >> your eye goes down here. who's hand is in who's. >> and you have a sport mode in a lot of the cameras. >> this camera is a 24 megapixel camera but shoots 24 frames a second, but up limited. >> listen to that.

>> well, i think it goes on generally because it's a mindset. a mindset. not everyone is looking to mooch off the system. but it's people that have a sense of entitlement, where is mine? the government is giving things away. insurance companies are rich. they won't know if i mooch off of them. >> that just -- first of all, they never think they are going to get caught. here's this lady going on national television spinning a big wheel when she's supposed to have a bad shoulder. what kind of excuse can she possibly have? >> that was pretty egregious. for me as a private investigator, i see that on a weekly basis, but that was something the entire nation ended up seeing. they saw her out there. and i think, you know, she -- people think again it's that sense of entitlement. they are not going to get caught. who is watching me? who cares? i'm just skimming off the top. >> we are seeing and increase in disability fraud since the obama administration, a 20% increase in fraud. is it because of the slow

economic recovery? people are just trying to scam the system? >> i think the economy could play into it, but the fraud is always there. it doesn't discriminate. it's everywhere and all over the country. again, it's the mindset and the mentality where society is going, where is mine? why not me? why can't i have that? >> but that kind of attitude and the fact that people are actually perpetrating disability really hurts those who actually need it. >> right, it does. they think it is just about them, but our premiums go up. doctors have to leave the state. insurance costs are way too high. so it's not just about them. it's all of us. it affects every single one of us from your automobile insurance to your housing insurance. all of these types of flaws exist and it is billions. all the fraud together. and that crosses onto us as taxpayers, right? >> absolutely. we are paying for them to be

one of the promises of easter is everyone can have a second chance and sometimes that chance comes from us in the form of something called a god wink. the book, "when god winks at u you" shares stories of people who have been given a second chance by god when they've needed it the most. jerry poncen is here to share his story. we'll start with you, squire. what a god wink.

>> it's a coincidence you know there's no coincidence. jerry poncen, captain jerry has a great god wink story. >> let me hear this god wink story. >> can you hear us, jerry? >> yes, i can. >> jerry, will you tell me what happened to you that day when you were in the boat? >> yes. what started out to be the worst day of my life wound up to be the best. myself, my friend, mack and his dog set out in southern louisiana to go duck hunting. we got caught in some bad weather out in the middle of the bay and the boat got swamped. and the boat sunk. we were standing on the gunnars and the water was up so our neck, a half hour before daylight. it was horrifying. what was oning through my mind, i would go back to the camp and go for help. but something told me don't leave mr. mack because of his health. we stood there about two hours and mr. mack kept telling me,

jerry, i'm getting cold. i can't think anymore. i understand that's hypothermia. the dog kept swimming around in circles. he was swinging around for 15 to 20 minutes, he'd go back, come back, come back. i told booger, go back, go back, go back. i didn't believe he'd make it in these conditions. i didn't believe in miracles. i knew there was a god but i didn't believe. >> how were you rescued? >> after a while i started to get cold and i put my hands in ther the air, i said, god, please give us a second chance. please give us a boat. i said mr. mack, there's no one coming today. we're going to die. i could see in the distance, it looked like a cross coming.

it was the mass poles of a boat. it was the only boat that came that day. it was a 72-foot trawl boat. the name of the boat is "the second chance." >> wow! that is the god wink. >> that makes the hairs on your arm stand up. >> what about your dog? >> we all got a chance that day. when we got back to the shoreline, booger was waiting for us. when god winks, he winked at me and he winked at mr. mack and he winked at the dog, too. >> that's great. >> i haven't been the same since. you see, the message of easter is that when you give god a second chance like jerry did, god will always give you a second chance. >> amen. >> what a great message. thank you both for sharing those two messages with us this morning. >> thank you. happy easter. >> happy easter to you, too, squire. the obama administration delaying its decision on the keystone pipeline yet again. so the dollars and donors play a

currently between russians and ukrainians along with an ongoing war in syria where eastern orthodox make up the bulk of the christians there. francis calling on the world to pray for the victims of conflict everywhere and telling the faithful that in jesus love conquers hate and goodness conquers evil. francis, of course, took office last year amid scandal in the roman catholic church. he's focused the church away from traditional issues like abortion and homosexuality, instead, focusing on outreach to the poor and abandoned. francis will be here in the holyland in about one month or so. he's making a tr to jerusalem. it will be the first time in more than 60 years that the two leaders of these two large christian communities will be doing an appearance here in the holyland, a historic trip. also one underlying the unity between christians and even though there is division according to papal representatives here in the holyland, they say the christian

ranch igniting the furor of a number of state legislators. they have for a long time been dealing with federal power grabs as it relates to their own land going back many generations, of course. there was a summit that had been planned among the western states before this whole thing with the bundy ranch exploded. now state governors and legislators from different states are getting together, saying this is the time to re-assess our relationship with the federal government as it relates to land and what sort of relationship they can come in and take our land from us and stand up for ourselves. >> they're saying we can manage our land better than you can. we're the ones that live here and are grazing our cattle and sheep on these lands. we've been here for centuries. you stay in washington. let us control our land and they know what's best for their own economy. they are saying we want the power and get out of our way. >> the time couldn't be better for the lawmakers to step up and

move on to the topic at hand, which is what do we do about these federally controlled lands, which has become a problem in nevada with the bureau of land management. charging cliven bundy for grazing fees and water rights. while there's a rule of law and both should be complying to that, the bottom line is they're trying to say to the federal government, hey, enough is enough. we need to control these lands so that we can do for our citizens what we know they need more than you do. >> specifically in idaho, here's one example to give you some context, the forest service. idaho said, look, the lands that are federally managed, they don't know how to deforest those lands properly, the deforestation process that enables them not to have these big forest fires. under idaho lands, those lands have not caught fire as much as the federally controlled land. what does that say? it says -- also what happened in montana when i was there in

2000, they wanted the federal government to butt out. the clinton administration grabbed montana land when it was about to leave and cordoning off part of it for wolf restoration and all of these things. montanaens were saying, wait a minute, we know better how to manage the land. butt out, stay in washington. >> you remember the sage brush rebellion decades ago. a lot of the people are saying i'm scared of the federal government and uncle sam. they're beginning to fear the federal government. look at this recent poll. >> 37%. >> almost 40%. >> generally it's because people are saying the federal government has become so intrusive and so arbitrary and they enforce that, so people are wondering how do i battle the federal government? how do i battle the irs? >> you feel like you can't.

>> we had on the show earlier the irs tracking license plates of individuals. we know the nsa. think about the nsa scandal the past several years. the list goes on and on and on. >> listening to phone calls, reading your e-mails, auditing you. >> thomas jefferson must be rolling over in his grave right now. one of the things he said is a government should always fear its people. >> exactly. >> people should never fear its government. when it happens, you should throw off the shackles of that government and start a new one. 37% of the united states fears its federal government, we're in troubled times. >> very quickly, you talk about throwing off the shackles, because people are out there calling protesters in nevada domestic terrorists, we should say, you can throw out the shackles of government by having good redress and going and petitioning the government and making demands that, look, you have to get it right. right now the government is not getting it right. that's why there's uncertainty

and distrust. >> let's move on to the headlines this morning. we are learning more about what happened aboard the south korean ferry as it began to sink. transcripts have now been released. they were released overnight. they reveal that crew members questioned whether evacuation was the right move here. as that ship was going under the water, the crews told officials on the land that an escape was impossible. the ship's captain and two crew members are now in custody and this morning, the death toll continues to go up. 58 people are confirmed dead. around 240 are still missing. for the second straight day, a u.s. air strike hits an al qaeda training camp in the mountainous regions of yemen. yesterday, ten al qaeda militants and three civilians were killed when a drone targeted a car in the southwestern part of yemen. this area is known to hold some of the world's most dangerous terrorists. and look at this, a massive sink hole opens up down in florida, threatening to swallow

two houses there. this is in the villages in sumter county. it started out pretty small but heavy rains caused that hole to grow. now it's about 30 feet wide and up to 60 feet deep. both of those homes have been evacuated and crews hope to stop the hole from getting any bigger by figuring it with sand and cement. william and kate might be off meeting with dignitaries on their australian tour but prince george got to meet the easter bunny. well, sort of. what he met is actually called bilby, this particular one named after the prince. george was so excited to meet his name sake, he tried to crawl into the pen with him. however, once he met the real thing, nothing else would do. the zoo gave him a stuffed bilby but it was not impressed. he threw it on the ground. >> he has to be one of the cutest babies out there. >> isn't he? >> i know a lot of cute babies.

welcome back. happy easter to you. once again, the obama administration has sidestepped making an important decision right before the holiday weekend, of course they announced another delay in a decision regarding the keystone pipeline. this delay could cause a decision not to be made until after the midterm elections. joining me now is the former ceo of shell oil and founder and ceo

of citizens for affordable energy, john hofmeister. happy easter. good to see you as always. >> thank you. happy easter to you all. >> we're starting to dig through some of this now, john. why in the world is this delayed for another five years or indefinitely potentially? what's behind all of this that you know of? >> i think it comes down to a different view of the world. so many of the people around the president, many of his funders see the keystone xl pipeline as nothing more than a gigantic sewage pipe, bringing death and destruction into the american economy while the vast majority of americans see the keystone xl pipeline as bringing energy security, the value of that natural resource to sustain our lifestyle and national security overall. we have a huge conflict inoutlo. while most of us operate on an up/down, yes/no, we buy a house,

we don't, we buy a car, we don't, we make decisions. what's happening in the white house, it's about a political calculus. what's the calculus for raising money for the november elections? what's the calculus for holding the senate majority? they're thinking on a different basis than normal americans. >> specifically these big money donors of the democratic base which have vowed and told the obama administration, look, if you back the keystone pipeline, you can discount hundreds of millions of dollars what we would have contributed. that seems to be what's motivating the entire delay. you have a number of key democrats writing a letter demanding that they should put the keystone pipeline through. does that surprise you? >> i'm quite honored. i think it's great that the democrats are speaking up for normal americans. we have to have energy. there is no way around it. if we don't get energy from canada, then we're going to get it from the middle east because we can never produce enough to satisfy our own energy domestic

requirements. so if we're going to import it, why not from north of the 49th parallel, our next door neighbors, we grew up together. we live together on the same continent, versus those who would just as soon see our economy be destroyed by overpriced oil. so to me, it comes down to do we run the country based on common sense, pragmatism and outlook for the future or do we run it on political correctness, listening to high money providers of a very small slice of the american electorate? >> i love the common sense point you made, john. one of the arguments that has been made, the environmental impact. a number of environmental impact studies have been done, showing it would have little or no environmental impact. and yet what's interesting is that this oil would still come into the united states and it would come into the united states in perhaps the dirtiest way possible and most inefficient way possible, by these long trucks, right? these are arguments from environmentalists to keep it clean are making it dirtier in

>> love of money, big problem in life. when i open up the paper in the morning, how many crimes center around people have a disordered desire to be rich. the real richness is to love your neighbor, that's what christ teaches. today is a great day to rejoice in being truly rich. >> what's a good message for our country? there's so much division in our own country with politics and there's so many atheist groups that are condemning christians during this holy time and definitely don't want the christian message spread. what can you say to our country? >> we love atheists. they're a small percentage of people. we ask for respect, too. jesus loves all mankind but he's not a door mat, neither are we. as christians we want to be able to freely worship. we don't want the government to tell us what to do. the love of christ is the message we give. if anyone objects to that, they should keep it to themselves.

former criminal defense attorney. >> good morning. >> are these letters following the letter of the law when they paul individuals like mr. rosine over? he's 70 years old. he says he was returning from his daughter's baby shower in washington state. he gave police no reason at all to suspect he had pot in his car. >> that's right. it is kind of look shooting fish in a barrel, so it would seem. police officers are like anybody else for the most part. they get up, go to work, they want to do their job which necessarily means they're going to want to stop cars and make arrests and that sort of thing. the bottom line is with regard to profiling, they actually can use anything that they want to focus on and pay attention to or observe a car. but when they stop a car, they've got to have an actual traffic violation. i'm afraid just having a colorado plate is not going to be enough. >> so this guy apparently didn't do anything wrong. >> so it would seem. >> he's not there smoking pot

while he's driving down the street. he's 70 years old, just come back from his daughter -- >> right. >> in that profiling scenario, why would they have stopped him there in the first place in they kept him there for hours. >> they kept him there for over two hours. the given reason for the stop is that he changed lanes without using a blinker. i'm suspicious of that because the officer also claimed that he smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle which he claimed gave him the right to search that vehicle. now, if that's true and he did smell the marijuana, he would have the right to search it. but over two hours worth of the search and nothing was turned up, it draws, you know, his additional statement into question as to whether or not he actually committed any traffic violation at all. >> here's an excerpt from that lawsuit. i'll read it and get your response from it. the trooper told him he would be calling a drug-detecting canine to walk around the vehicle. the trooper asked him when is the last time you used any marijuana. >> yes. that's very typical. and it's a typical threat that

law enforcement makes. a lot of times they'll bring a dog and sometimes the dogs will alert and sometimes they won't. i see this all the time where cars are searched from stem to stern and we find no evidence whatsoever of any contra banned whatsoever. they're kept on the road sometimes for 20, 30 minutes or in this case hours. under the fourth amendment, all searches must be reasonable in duration and in scope. this was an entirely unreasonable search. >> here's a statement from the idaho police department. see if this jives with what you know in your training. the police department holes all employees to a high standard which includes following the constitution of the united states and the laws of the constitution of idaho, sort of the issue here, phillip. we talked to judge napolitano earli earlier, yes, in colorado you have the right to smoke marijuana but when you get in a car and drive across state borders, that's when the trouble ensues. >> i think this particular

about grandma is here and they are getting frustrated because you're not letting grandma in the door or why aren't you talking to her, and you start to see that children are seeing something. a 3-year-old tia told her mom that her uncle ed was going to die soon because a rainbow angel told her and she said he's going to go to heaven and he's going to watch over me. the next day he had a major heart attack and he died a few weeks later. and the significance of the rainbow angel was we found out later, ed had a daughter that died years ago and when she was ill, she saidly come back with a rainbow so you know i made it to heaven okay. a few months after she passed, a beautiful rainbow showed up in a

very dark hallway and they knew it was from her daughter. so i believe he was seeing ed's daughter who was telling her that my dad's coming home soon. >> what about the story of tile sner. >> a tragedy came out. 5 month old tyler died of sids and the next day his mother took her 3-year-old son outside and she said when ever you want to talk to your baby brother. >> you have got go. >> you want to hear the rest of it? >> heaven talks to children. we'll be back in two minutes.
